Negative experience: Place is tired needs big overall nothing ever gets done give up complaining . The gym needs overselling n more modern, the changing rooms especially men’s showers are an utter disgrace.Been a member for 12 years, I’m in process of possibly moving gyms. Can’t believe what they charge for a place that’s falling to pieces… get your act together David Lloyd.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant function room Had a party there Nice cosy atmosphere

Negative experience: I waited 37minutes for a cappuccino that arrived cold. 3 chick's at the bar chatting and gossipping, and ignoring customers. Is this is the quality of the service I should get used to at DL ManchNorth? It seems like it cause it ain't't the first time!

Negative experience: I didn't want to put a bad review after using the gym for 2.5 years but the only reason I will be using it are the personal trainers and because it is convenient as I can go before I start working in the mornings. So first, 15 months ago someone broke my locker and stole belongings of £500. Another four times someone broke my locker but I didn't have anything inside since I learned from the first time. After I complaint 5 times and after I argueed with a lady at reception someone finally phoned me to apologise. Second, today I finished the gym and I went to buy some food from the restaurant. The fridge was empty and when I tried to buy something else like the protein biscuits I had to wait for at least 10min. When someone came to take payment I just said that I would prefer to order a salad with chicken but it would take 3hrs like before and the young lady told me not to be rude, as if I didn't see that 2 young ladies had to serve 50 people. Conclusion: Bad business, bad staff, bad management, great trainers. The trainers and the location is the only reason why I will be coming back. Tragic experience.

Fantastic experience: Joined few months ago absolutely love it, been doing the classes and the instructor debby Kelly is fantastic, would love to see a step class in the new year in north Manchester by debby (done her step classes in trafford). Nice atmosphere and friendly staff

Fantastic experience: Me and my husband are only a few days into our membership at David Lloyd, but this is the most positive I've felt about any other gym I have ever joined. I've always felt overwhelmed and intimidated by your standard gyms having no clue what to do. I had a taster class of Blaze on Saturday and did my first full class on Monday and it was amazing - Paulina was a fab instructor with loads of energy and ensured that I was comfortable with me having a bad knee injury. The classes really are second to none and, beside the great facilities - it is them which set this club apart from any other gym or club membership I've had.

Fantastic experience: I love the welcoming receptionist called Meera , always smiling and saying ‘bye’ on the way out . Very polite and calm . The branch should be proud to have her as an asset on the team .

Negative experience: Worst gym going need to improve their customer service and get machines that work. Wouldn't let me assist my mother with disability's over a membership issue when I've been a member for 12 months. Go elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: I'm a member at the Trafford club but today had an opportunity to attend classes at Manchester north i did 2 classes with Debby (body pump and total body workout) both classes were absolutely fantastic!! Debby made we feel so welcome and so at ease ! Was very helpful and motivating !! Realky enjoyed the workout . will definitely be going again ! Can't fault it . Thank you . Also the rest of the staff was kind and helpful.

Fantastic experience: A couple days ago I came in on a guest pass with my friend and we didn’t know where anything was. A young man came out of the back door of reception to show us where everything was as it was my friends first time at this specific club. I didn’t quite catch his name but he was extremely welcoming and helpful. All in all the club was amazing, the facilities were fantastic and would absolutely come again next I’m in Manchester.

Fantastic experience: I regularly attend Rachel’s ignite strike and total body workout. Rachel is the best instructor, she is always so supportive to all members. Fantastic experience: So pleased our club supported England Squash Women’s Week by hosting a ladies taster session! This was a fantastic event and enjoyed by all! Thanks to the racquets manager and lounge manager for facilitating this! Some of the participants were from other DL clubs and were really impressed with our club and the friendliness of everyone! We now have 10 new ladies playing squash! The supper which we all enjoyed afterwards was 5*. Thanks to all

Negative experience: I've been a member of David Lloyd Manchester North for over three months now, and I’m quite disappointed with the experience. The hot tub is too small and only runs for 14 minutes before shutting off for 12 minutes, leading to long waits. People stay in there reading books, which is frustrating. The sauna and steam room are also too small, fitting only four people, and they’re always busy. The policy of allowing only one guest, even for restaurant access, is also very restrictive. Now, I’m considering leaving, but they’re saying I have to stay for at least 12 months and give a 3-month notice in advance, meaning 15 months in total. It's absolutely a waste of money, especially at £176 a month for myself and my partner.

Negative experience: I have been informed by my family that I have letters from Arc as instructed by David Lloyd. I am not in the U.K. I told David Lloyd at Manchester North, since they did not meet their contractual agreements that I would be leaving and I paid two months out of the three that they stipulate should be paid once one decides they don't wish to attend. In my opinion and also from a legal perspective, I should not have paid any, since the manager verbally promised that the classes would not be cut or changed and then reneged on this after our conversation (my complaint). The manager's reasons for classes being cut or changed were that there was nothing she could do about it, since it was often difficult to find the staff. This is not acceptable, since the point of a gym like David Lloyd is to provide a high quality service. In November 2023, I complained about the amount of classes being cut or switched to virtual (breach of contractual obligations). This caused the progress that I'd made at the gym to decline, which was very disheartening and had a negative impact on my mental and physical health. I sent a number of exchanges via the app, in the club and on the phone. In February, again a number of classes (such as Zumba) were cut and also changed to virtual again. On top of this, when I parked with my 6 year old in the child parking space, I received 2 fines as they changed the rules regarding parking that I had not been informed of. They stated that they had the new rules on the wall in the club... It caused a great amount of unwarranted stress for something that had not been communicated to me directly via email or any other reasonable means… When a company is not able to provide a service that is in the agreement, a service that I did not use, then I shouldn't be legally obligated to pay it under the consumer's rights act. In addition to this, mid-contract, the membership fees were automatically increased in January 2024. On top of this, the swimming pool was out of action from the 27th August, 2023 for well over a month so I couldn't even take my daughter to swim. Overall, the experience was stressful and suggests larger companies do not have any empathy, understanding or compassion for the consumers, since they are only searching to make as much profit as possible and surpass monetary targets. The consumers’ rights are disregarded and their physical and mental health is not a priority (ironic).

Negative experience: The gym is out dated, the sauna is tiny! Steam room is falling apart! The pool stinks of urine and is mouldy! And the worst of it all is the Management, you’d think David Lloyd was their Dad!!!! Steph she claims to be a manager but is absolutely wild attitude AVOID!!!!! Thank god I don’t sign up!

Positive experience: Has a lot to offer but the the club room is ridiculous!! So under staffed and unorganised. Every time I have ordered food or drink it’s always wrong and when you approach staff about it they have a negative attitude towards you. Domestic staff going in and out of the kitchen with there gloves on they use for cleaning any staff serving food and manager running around like a head less chicken. Seriously needs to to be looked into and organised especially for the price of the membership

Fantastic experience: I booked The Ivy Suite for our daughter’s naming day which meant we needed to be in the suite all day, and we could not have picked a better venue with nicer staff. We needed to come in a few times to arrange things beforehand and there was never an issue and we were welcomed too. Agne was extremely helpful from the very first moment of booking and went above and beyond to make sure everything was easy, calm and organised on the day. She helped with set up when needed, was extremely friendly and sociable and made me relaxed and welcome - a big thank you. Dan and Mantvile were on the bar and they were both absolutely lovely. They were professional, friendly and always had a smile! They helped me to pack away the personal party favour's afterwards and were both such lovely people. I want to give them an extra big thank you because it was a busy (and long) day and they were both amazing! Thanks everyone. Very happy!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym with brilliant staff. Lots to do for the kids and plenty of class choice for adults. The gym floor is well equipped and the trainers are knowledgeable and friendly but not at all pushy. The facilities are always clean. Cafe has a lovely selection of food and drinks. Pool has recently been refurbished and is lovely and the kids swimming instructors at fab.

Fantastic experience: I've recently joined up with my family and it's the best decision I've made in a long time. The Gym, Pools, tennis and badminton courts are incredible (I've not tried classes yet or squash etc. but they look incredible). As a family we're there almost daily. It's a complete lifestyle and not just a gym. It's just a great place to be, even if you just want to stop by for a coffee and a meal. I've not used all the facilities yet, but everything I've used has been absolutely top tier. The staff are all really friendly from the housekeeping (special mention to Ian, who's an asset to the club) to the PTs to the reception. Booking courts or classes is super easy via the app. The only tiny fault I can find is the outside pool area needs a bit of modernisation. That been said its very clean and it's still bad weather after a torrid winter, so it's not set up yet for the summer. But the outdoor pool itself and cold plunge pool is really clean and nice. The indoor pool, jacuzzi, saunas and changing facilities are super clean and modern. We were told they've just had a complete overhaul and makeover, and you can tell. Very family friendly club with lots of things for kids of all ages. My 12 and 14 year old girls have had inductions with 2 really friendly and patient PTs (Abbie and Daniel) who took extra time out of their days to make the girls feel welcome and wrote lists of things they can use and do incase they forget. The girls were scared at first but are now so enthusiastic and excited. So a big thank you to Daniel and Abbie. Honestly, hats off to everyone involved at the club. It's just a nice place to spend time on your own or with your family. You've brought a lot of joy to my family in a short space of time and we can't wait for the future as members. I'd recommend becoming members to anyone. You won't regret it.
