Our comment from FitFit UK about Bannatyne Health Club And Spa:

Bannatyne Health Club and Spa in Barnsley offers a variety of facilities for health and wellness enthusiasts. Many users appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, along with the good variety of classes available. The spa treatments, particularly massages, receive positive feedback for the quality and expertise of the therapists. Moreover, the gym features a decent range of equipment, which is generally well-maintained.

Highlights:

  • Friendly and professional staff
  • Quality massage and spa treatments
  • Good selection of exercise classes

However, there are several areas needing improvement. Some users have reported issues with outdated equipment and cleanliness, particularly in the pool area and changing rooms. Users have also expressed disappointment regarding the charging of extra fees for towels and robes, which are typically expected to be included in a spa day. Additionally, the gym can become quite crowded, detracting from the overall experience.

Areas for Improvement:

  • Renovation of gym and spa facilities
  • More maintenance on equipment
  • Improved management of crowding during peak times

While Bannatyne Health Club and Spa has its strengths, potential members and guests should consider these factors when planning their visit.

Negative experience: Overpriced and despite membership fees now increasing year on year it’s not seen any sort of refurb or investment in the 6yrs I’ve been a member. Dated equipment, rickety benches, place looks tired and when machines brake the repair time is weeks into months. Today there was an additional bucket in the free weight section collecting rain water from the roof! £55 p/m, literally stealing money from people. Sadly there is no other gym without driving into town so I’ll keep paying for their more is less ethos.

Hello Chris Collins, we are sorry that your experience did not match your expectations at our Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Barnsley. I'm disappointed that you feel there has been no investment in the club in recent times. Last year over £250,000 was spend on a completely new airconditioning system for the gym, studios and spa area, we replaced all 31 spinning bikes and spent a further substantial sum on the outside of the club to ensure it remained compliant to our lease in the years to come. In addition to our 2024 spend, only last week we announced further investment into the gym area in the early part of 2025, with a complete refurbishment of the functional area with new and replacement equipment including half racks, ski ergs, battle bikes, sled track and more. This information has been advertised heavily in the club as well as on our social media pages. All feedback, whether it be positive or negative allows us to improve as a business, thank you, Paul Axford.

Negative experience: Visited this spa today, paid full price no online voucher deals. I have previously visited the York one and I can say I’m very dissatisfied with Barnsley. Firstly you have to pay £20 for robe, flip flops and towel with £10 of that refundable at the end- ridiculous. We ordered a package with cream tea, we sent both our scones back completely inedible wasn’t offered a refund or anything other. The lady must’ve overheard me complaining in conversation and later came with another coffee as compensation for the scone. The venue itself is cashless, which we wasn’t made aware of slightly frustrating. We also had breakfast prior to the scone and this was just about passable- extremely small portion very basic to look- menu was small scrambled egg/poached egg, sandwich or jacket potato. Changing rooms we’re fine could’ve done with a clean toilets were particularly dirty. Once pool side it’s clear to see it’s fairly run down and needs some maintenance work and updating. Was very busy with other club members so if your expecting a spa/retreat feel to your experience this is not the place. We then headed upstairs for treatments which had been moved to a later time without us being told prior due to staff sickness. The relaxation room upstairs is extremely poor in comparison to the York branch, your basically laid on rattan garden furniture which is very uncomfortable some were broken no atmosphere in there considering it’s for relaxing. How ever the ladies who gave our massages were lovely Megan was one unsure of the other lady’s name but both very friendly and did an amazing job with the treatments so thanks ladies! Overall I won’t be returning the venue is poor, service is poor, food is poor and cleanliness is poor.

Negative experience: Avoid there are far better gyms in Barnsley than this overpriced one. Showers covered in mould cracked tiles showers dropping to bits pool freezing only one jacuzzi working very old and worn equipment on the gym floor. Classes cancelled left right and centre because there’s no staff, staff turns over every 6 months the manager hides in his office and doesn’t speak or listen to any of the members. Save your money go elsewhere for far less

Negative experience: Absolutely shocking service, had a Christmas present spa booked and unexpectedly came down with the flu the morning due, called and asked to rearrange and was told no you can't. No alternative, no sympathy just a straight no it's 48 hrs notice. Asked to speak to a manager and was told not in yet and then told she will say the same.

Positive experience: Nice gym and pool. Some gym equipment was broken, so I couldn't use it. Also, parts of the changing room and pool area could do with some TLC. Especially for the price you pay for using the facilities.

Thomas Piggott 10 months ago

Negative experience: We booked an expensive spa day package as a birthday treat, what a waste of time and money. It’s nothing more than a glorified gym for the over 50s during the day. On arrival we were told it was £20 for a towel, robe and slippers- come on when you’re paying for a spa day package these should be included? It’s not cheap to start with. Lockers were £2 which was reasonable. At 12:45, they brought a class into the pool area, that really helps you to relax and unwind doesn’t it? We got out as it was uncomfortable with only a handful of loungers around the pool. But then there was music pumping and you couldn’t look anywhere else than face on into the class. There is a steam room, sauna and deep relaxing room next to the pool which fits no more than 3-4 people in comfortably. At 1:15, we went to the on site cafe, closed for staff breaks/lunch. That surely defeats the object? It was a choice of a Lucozade or protein shakes from the vending machines until it reopened. Which was then too late as our spa treatments were to begin. The massages and treatments were actually really good and is the reason I’ve give it an extra star, the girls were fantastic and an asset to the business. It needs to ditch the spa side of the business and concentrate on being the gym it is. I think I left more stressed than I arrived.

Negative experience: Many weeks before attending I called to change the times of treatments for mine and my friend spa day upon arrival this hadn't been changed and the receptionist was in honesty quite rude and unhelpful. Absolute joke having to pay extra for robes etc and a deposit on top which refunded but takes 14 days! No water machines to use downstairs so have to buy own water and food choice for a spa day was minimal between 3 choices. Overall when paying as much as your charging for a spa day it is not worth it and to be heightened with poor customer service. Even at the cafe you can't sit and relax as you have to be up and down to collect food and drinks! Only good thing is Starbucks coffee.

Negative experience: Not worth what I pay each month. This used to be a nice gym, however equipment is old and some of it squeeks or is broken. I have to go in at quieter times as if not you cant get on anything as its small. The staff are annoying and start cleaning around your machine half an hour before closing and asking you if you've finished with certain pieces of equipment. I understand they want to get home however surely it should not advertise as opening to a certain time for useage. My friend had someone turn the lights off on him as he was still working out at 9.45pm when they arent supposed to close til 10pm, he had no warning and this could have caused an injury. The hand dryer never works in the toilets and has not in the 10 months i have been there, yet no paper towels are provided either. When my contract is up i will be going elsewhere.

Negative experience: I was previously a member at this gym but cancelled my membership due to being out of the area for a while. I went to the gym yesterday to talk about restarting my membership next month and enquire about using a day pass for the day. I was shocked by the attitude of the staff on reception who were very rude and ignorant. They first told me that there is no day passes unless you are with a member which is fair enough if that is policy. They then went to tell me that there is no membership options which would suite ‘someone like me’. I was a little confused by what they meant but given the hostility I was treated with considering I was a previous paying member I decided to leave and take my business elsewhere. Avoid this place unless you want to deal with rude front desk staff who seem to think they are better than everyone

Negative experience: Today I have visited Bannatyne health club in Barnsley. Such a shame. I have been coming to Bannatyne for years and always used to enjoy my time. However the reception woman with short hair was rude and unfriendly. I have a special diet which nothing was suitable on the menu really so I got myself a scone but brought my own sandwich and was told to put it away. I asked if there was anywhere I could eat it away from the cafe area and was told no I’d have to leave. Waited then for a spa treatment with the lady staring at me to ensure I wouldn’t eat it. The rules are very harsh you can’t look at your phone unless it’s in the changing room but there isn’t any signal there. The pool area needs a bit of a sprucing up as it’s started to become a little unkept. Kindest regards, Hannah Kenny

Fantastic experience: Visited with a friend using a Wowcher. It was an amazing day. All of the staff we came across were lovely and helpfu, as we're the other usersl. We both had express facials which were amazing. It was spotlessly clean (tired in some areas but nothing major) Would definitely recommend for a girls pamper day

Negative experience: Had to cancel hours before my treatments, had a family member pass away and had to travel down the country and couldn’t make my appointment at the Spa. Explained this to management here, Laura Wade specifically. I was hoping that they would be able to shuffle my appointment around due to the nature of the situation. I explained that the spa day was booked as a celebration of my partner and I’d 5 year anniversary. Laura showed no effort or empathy with our situation. They could have easily adjusted the appointed in this specific situation. It would not only be good customer service, but it would be a nice gesture being a good person, which clearly they are neither. Extremely disappointed with this. The fact that they couldn’t reschedule my £200+ appointment is disgraceful and disgusting especially after I explained the reasons. I will never be booking here again. Shame on you Bannatyne Spa Barnsley.

Negative experience: Spa is nice. Food isn’t good and neither is the service. Sauna does stink - best to bring olbas oils with you.

Negative experience: I joined online the photos of the the gym looked great it seemed a nice place... The first time I went I had to pick up my wrist band after 45 mins I got it.... I've never been to the gym before I was a new member I thought someone would show me around.... Didn't happen.... I found the changing rooms... I went in the pool area and went in the steam room, sauna, got into the jacuzzi that goes off every 5 minutes to let the other one work??? Why...... Then the lifeguard comes in and started shouting at a lady and her kids to get out of the pool.... Etc etc etc... I sent emails to cancel my membership. I spoke to the staff they said it's been cancelled.. Now I have a debt collector company calling and sending me emails... So I called and spoke to the manager he was rude and wouldn't give me his full name WHAT UNBELIEVABLE...

Fantastic experience: Wow. A fantastic place, Clean, excellent facilities, lovely changing rooms, great atmosphere, and Briant entranceway with good quality coffee and snacks. I am a frequent visitor and member to Orpington Bannatyne and got used to the problems, dirty old-fashioned changing rooms and old pool. side facilities. Then I visited Barnsley! Wow! So this is what Bannatyne health club can be like? It is twice as nice and no makes me want to leave my one in Orpington and perhaps try another club unless they’re going to referb

Positive experience: Needs upgrade facility wise but best close to where I can get to easily

City Girl 1 year ago

Positive experience: The gym isn’t shiny, but it has most of what you need. No hack squat, but a decent selection of weights and racks, albeit the clips for the barbells are awful, a little update here would be magic. The resistance machines are in need of some maintenance or updating, they’re not smooth at all. The wet facilities are great, decent size changing room. Incredible staff, really friendly. It’s a reasonable gym. Not sure it’s worth a £25 day for a day pass though, the high end in gyms in London with huge gym floors and much superior equipment/facilities charge this. It feels a bit steep for the location and offering.

Ingrida 06 1 year ago

Negative experience: The staff were very polite and respectful. The inside of the building needs renovating it’s quite run down. Massage was not very good we paid £125 for 2 people and we didn’t really feel like we had a massage.

Melanie Alleyne 1 year ago

Positive experience: The cleanliness of the pool area isn't up to scratch for me and any concerns you bring to their attention just fall on deaf ears. They don't care or lack the initiative to do anything about it. The pool is always really cold. Something else they ignore when you voice your opinion. I've now given up saying anything. If there were somewhere else I could go, I would.

Oliver Rowley 1 year ago

Negative experience: Poor communication between gym management and members, we go late and usually leave for around 950-955pm as online the shutting time is 10. Today had the light turned off on us without any warning at 9:45pm in the middle of a set after that they indicated the gym was closed which is the first we've heard about since going. I'd have no issue with this if it was made more clear and if staff were more respectful than to not say a word then proceed to turn light off whilst using smith machine, it's dangerous and unprofessional on their part.

Fantastic experience: Great club to join with no hassle admin. Plenty free class options to choose, very well equipped gym with big range of free weights and machines, also loads of cardio machines so you don't have to wait, lots of space for battle rope, medicine balls etc. 20m pool, steam rooms, sauna, jacuzzis and coffee with soft furnishings to chill when your finished. A top gym venue

Negative experience: Glorified leisure centre.... Spa day booked, relax and unwind... First off, having my treatments the duf duf music from the gym over the spa music , treatments were nice though. Swimming pool area, well, ..kids swimming lessons, loungers taken up by kids waiting for there lessons and then the parents watching there kids do swimming lessons, cafe with seating yet empty, why do the parents have to sit pool side. so spa people, no where to chill and unwind.certainly taken this spa experience away from bannatynes.

Negative experience: I promise I will provide images following my next visit however, this review is not particularly a 1 star for the Barnsley branch but for Bannatyne as a company, although you will see from the images that this particular branch is very tired. Bannatyne as a business though really have no consideration for their clients and should your personal circumstances change, they are all about the money and have no compassion whatsoever. Do not sign up to a 12 month contract unless you are 100% sure that your situation won’t change and let’s face it not many people can be assured of this. At £50.49 a month you’d expect more, you can go to JD or many others with no contract concerns and at less than half of the cost, they have lovely sauna’s and great changing/showering facilities as well as much more equipment, I should never have left to join Bannatyne. big mistake, big, huge!! It tries to be something it’s not, They have a very limited and tired gym and the changing facilities and spa facilities are not at all as well kept as they should be given the membership fees. You will see from my past reviews that I usually only leave positive feedback however, I would really like to urge people to consider the cost of over £600 a year before committing to a membership here.

Negative experience: Happy to take money, barely any service, avoid if you are reading. For full explanation of my rant see below... Bad spa service with an unsympathetic manager ruining it. Bought a spa day for my partner upon arrival there is no fluidity. I had an issue with shoulder due to surgery and was asked to send in a form of medical conditions prior to arrival which was done and no one had contacted. However they was happy to offer an upgraded treatment getting 25 minutes extra which was accepted. The spa is upstairs away from changing rooms so you have to walk around looking like a drip whilst avid gym goers are looking at you with pity. Upon arrival in spa the staff was not there on time so you are left feeling rather lost and as though you should not be there. The young lady who was providing the service was incredibly nice and understanding regarding surgery and had explained she is unable to do the massages like normal but can work around this which is expecting considering no one has contacted prior to arrival. She also explained I am welcome to have different treatments instead or she can go speak to a manager and look to seek a refund which I had opted for. Upon the end of the treatment the lady pops out and comes back whilst I am waiting in reception and explained there is no manager but it should not be a problem and she will email me within a few days for a refund on the extra 25 minutes paid for. Folllowing treatment you can go to the spa however there is no space and it is basically just a pool with lane swimming in it and no space in the jacuzzis and cramped in the sauna. Days later I had an email from the manager who has said due to terms and conditions she is not refunding anything did not care about anything. Had I had known on the day and they had appropriate superiors I would have gotten a massage on my forehead or wherever so I did not waste money. I would not return nor would I advise this to anyone going to this establishment

Positive experience: Horrible manager, I feel sorry for the staff there. It was 15:56 , he stormed to the ladies changing room and shouted to my face to get out because he isn’t paid to work after 16:00. It was a horrifying experience especially for my elder grandmother after a spa day. The skinny lady in cafeteria with brown long hair is an absolute delight to talk to, she made our day great. Spa ladies are as always professional and lovely. Would recommend this place but the manager brings the rating down, what a miserable man. All the patience to the staff.

Negative experience: I’ve been to a lot of Bannatyne’s and Nuffield’s in my time and this is by far the most wild and filthy. You would be forgiven for mistaking this pool for the pool in Chernobyl (post invasion). More fixtures and fittings on the floor than on the wall. Had better luck getting hand wash and shower jel during the first week of lockdown than you do in this cesspit. Their method for heating the steam room is putting a kettle in the middle of the room and just boiling it. To top it off, which actually I found funny - sitting in the sauna (as warm as a Norwegian ice hotel), there was a gentleman who pulled out a can of Red Bull from a toiletry bag, cracked it open and just chugged it. Wild

Negative experience: Stood at the counter ages awaiting to speak to someone whilst staff were oblivious or chating, it was regarding booking spa days for multiple nhs people. Finally someone came and advised me she had no information or advice and i should just look online. Unfortunately for Bannatynes i have done so and now booked 8 people on a series of spa days with another supplier.

Positive experience: Needs some maintenance on equipment and water fountains

Fantastic experience: Great experience, explored all facilities from gym, spa and pool area. I would like to point out that can get very busy, so not really a relaxing time around to pool side

Gareth Ford 1 year ago

Negative experience: Terrible gym. It’s not worth the cost. Equipment feels cheap. It’s very small. Music is quiet. Sauna isn’t hot enough. And it’s just a very dirty place in general. The list goes on. I was expecting more. I paid £25 for a day pass. I want a refund. Go elsewhere.

Negative experience: If you’re wanting to come here to use the gym I’d recommend against it. Very small for what you’re paying and the equipment is old & dirty. The benches are all wobbly and have been since I joined - speaking with some regular members it sounds like they don’t upkeep with maintenance for any of the facilities

Fantastic experience: Love this place ❤️ Been to many gyms in Barnsley but I must say this is where I feel most comfortable

Negative experience: I was very disappointed with my treatment, I paid extra for an upgrade which they were late doing so didn't get my full 50 minutes

Fantastic experience: So good for mind as well as body! Tracey's classes are inspirational

Negative experience: Booked for a mother/daughter spa day. Massages were good and in a relaxing setting but all the facilities are mixed with regular members which makes it impossible to relax after treatments. The pool was freezing which was very disappointing and resulted in us not using it and feeling a bit robbed for our money. Not enough seating by the pool either, leaving us feeling a bit lost as to where to put ourselves. The sauna and steam room were standard. Would go again for treatments but definitely not worth the money for a full spa day. It’s just a regular swimming baths with a freezing pool and small spa section upstairs.

Negative experience: I was due to come here with my mum today. I was told at 11:15 whilst I was about 5 minutes away from the spa and an hour and a half before the treatments were due that because of staff sickness that only one of us could have the treatments we booked. Very disappointing when we'd booked a day off work for this and it wasn't the first time this has happened either. Definitely puts me off using bannatynes in the future.

Positive experience: Recently went for a spa day with my daughter. Receptionist was very professional and thorough. Facilities were good although the pool was very busy due to an aerobics class which took place for 45 minutes so inaccessible. The treatments and spa facilities were very good but no water available to drink in the resting room. The beauticians treated us to a fabulous massage and facial. Would have been nice if the towels and robes had been provided at no extra cost. Personally I would expect them to have been included on a spa experience

Fantastic experience: Had a Spar day with a friend Arrived at 9am and was greeted by lovely Staff. The spar was really nice and the girls were very efficient. Afterwards we used the Spar facilities Sauna steam room and pool. These were also very good. Only downside was you had to take your own towel. Robes and towels where available to hire, but that's usually part of the experience. However good time had by all. Thank you to everyone.

Fantastic experience: Had a wonderful visit at Bannatynes. Came for a spa day and had two wonderful ladies in the Elemis spa give us a relaxing massage and a facial. Would definitely come again!

Positive experience: Treatment good. Ordered lunch for a set time but due to a staff altercation and a member going home because of this it left one new member of staff in the cafeteria sinking. Not his default. He should have been supported! Had to watch multiple customers being rude to him. We cancelled our lunch and got a refund and went elsewhere. To be honest. ....it spoilt our time there and it was cut shirt because of its.

Negative experience: Sadly, this is the worst Bannatyne gym in the area. The equipment has not been serviced in months with four out of eight cross trainers broken and spinning bikes faulty that cannot be adjusted. The pool area looks like something from the 90s and in need of modernisation. There's rust showing through supports, a dirty suana and steam room, tiles/grout coming off the walls in the steam rooms and shower area is a disgrace. I think it's about time Duncan Bannatyne spent some money.

Negative experience: Booked a spa day, so very unorganised, there was an Elemis massage included only Elemis product used was the last part of the massage just like a back moisturiser, hardly any staff in reception, maybe ok as a gym but deffo not a spa day, this was for my birthday and it wasn’t the best by any means

Positive experience: I booked a spa day. Unfortunately one day before the visit my booking was cancelled due to the staff sickness. I rebooked for a different date and the massage was really nice, body scrub was ok, what I didn't like that much was a scalp massage. It was a bit too intense. The lady however was really nice and asked me if I want her to focus on any specific area on my back, if I would like to have oil in my hair for the scalp massage etc... The lady at the reception was also very nice, explained everything in detail where to go, what facilities they have... The cafe was good too. A nice chatty lady behind the counter :) and fresh yummy smoothies! They have a pool with 2 hot tubs (unfortunately the bubbles switch from one to the other, they don't bubble at the same time) what I really like they have a relaxation room where noone can talk! I always miss this in UK Saunas as ppl usually blablabla all the time when you want to relax. Showers have closed cabins which is also an advantage. If you want to book a spa day look at the pool times (as during the weekend there are sessions allowing kids to come in) so I would be sure to book during a different time to avoid the disappointment

Negative experience: Love swimming but not in this pool - every time I swim at this pool I end up sneezing and cold like symptoms - I’ve resorted to using Sudafed for 2/3 days after every swim - have raised with the club but told they use same chemicals as most pools but in other pools I don’t have these issues - as for the club itself - staff are good but the facilities in need of a good update - my membership expires in November and I won’t be renewing

Negative experience: It was meant to be a relaxing bday gift x as soon as we got there 9 mins late to be told we have to go straight to treatment room. No dressing gown given then to be told we had 3 mini treatments but cus were late we can only have 2 mini treatments then l had exfoliating stuff still on my face. It felt very rushed then to be told we got yo go back down to reception to get a gown n Towel 18 pound and you get 10 pound back. But cus we already had treatment there no need for gowns. Then we had some food l had scrambled eggs and it had shell in it and my friend who came with me had some shell on her toast. Then we went n got changed to swim then to find it wsd a mixed pool and had children in it l have nothing against kids but it was ment to be a relaxing spa day. All the staff apartment from one didn't really care or want to help in any way. It did seem like the staff didn't want to be there

Negative experience: This place doesn’t value its members, and provides poor customer service. More people behind the desk than using the facilities says it all. Spa rooms never working properly and overall expensive for what you get. Avoid.

Fantastic experience: We had a spa day at Bannatyne and loved it. The club is quite spacious, well equipped and the staff are professional. Definitely recommend for a R&R day!

Fantastic experience: Used to go here more often and am trying to increase my visits again. Love the pool and the steam room. But the gym is great too and their massages are wonderful. Give yourself half a day and indulge yourself. Covid interfered with my visits. Hopefully I will increase my number of lengths I can swim again!!

Negative experience: I am a member of this spa/ gym too. As you can see from previous reviews the facilities are poor. I would be disappointed if I paid to use the spa on a spa day. The steam rooms do not work. Hardly any steam in there at all and a waste of time going in there. The general maintenance is very poor too. There is a bad smell in the steam rooms and relaxation room. Lots of the tiles are broken and there is no grout between tiles. And what bit there is it is black! It isn’t very clean at all. I have raised this with staff and management on a few occasions now and they say that it is the way the rooms work. This is not true. I have used this gym for over 10 years and they are definitely not working. I was told I could write an email to escalate it. I did that and it has now been two week and I haven’t had a reply. This is why I thought I would add a review and hopefully save some people the disappointment and waste of money. I do use other Bannatyne gyms and there facilities are much better maintained and clean. They also have working facilities such as steam rooms with steam in them and no moulding tiles. Rotherham , Wakefield and Leeds are all good ones that I have used. I would love to add pictures to this review but you are not permitted to take camera or phones in the pool area.

Positive experience: Spa experience it's OK nothing special the £18 with £10 deposit put us off getting a towel and robe. I've never been anywhere that has done this not impressed. The best part was the cafe, really pleasent and lovely food and variety.

Fantastic experience: Always lovely atmosphere staff are so welcoming, excellent at there job, always return for spa days

David Wragg 2 years ago

Negative experience: I am a member of this spa but when my current membership expires I will not be renewing. The single most important reason for this is the deliberately managed drop in pool temperature over the last few months. The pool is now constantly COLD when one enters and is not an enjoyable experience any more. I suspect many elderly members who simply use the pool for low impact exercise will similarly find this development unenjoyable. I have monitored this for a while and there seems to be no inclination to warm the pool up the two or three degrees which would be required. Very disappointing and a slap in the face for members who signed up to the club in the expectation that standards at the time of joining would be maintained and not lowered

Fantastic experience: A really lovely experience. I booked for a pregnancy massage and Emma from the spa team did my treatment. She was really friendly and professional. I was having a particularly rubbish day prior but felt rather m9re human after leaving. Also to mention Sharon on reception who was really friendly and helpful.

Positive experience: I find most of the cafe staff quite rude and nonchalant. I have been going for physiotherapy here. I have to say it has not made me want to join this club.

Mark Eames 2 years ago

Positive experience: I've been a member for about 6 years now and it's a great friendly club. The classes are great and there are a range of outstanding teachers who take them. The place needs some new aircon as it isn't up to the job, and the main studio floor needs refinishing. Overall a fantastic place that has had a very positive effect on my health and wellbeing

Negative experience: Didn't want to be a member, just wanted to take my grandkids to the baths. But I have to pay a day membership fee. Even though I don't want to use any other things they have. Would have cost me £25 just for me. Just live up the road would have been ideal to take my grandkids. As I'm pretty disabled and can't walk far. But I would have used My scooter to get there. Shame .

Positive experience: Enjoyed a lovely spa day, staff were polite and helpful. Aqua aerobics on a Thursday morning 11.15 - 11.45, so wasn't able to use the pool during this time. facilities were OK, treatments were OK, had worse, had better

Negative experience: I booked a spa day with my sister and mum for Christmas however upon arrival I was told the staff had messed up my booking and did not have enough time to fulfil the full voucher I paid for. This meant I missed out on one full treatment (25 minute facial) and they only had time to book me in for a 30 minute treatment instead of the 45 minute back massage that I paid for. I understand mistakes are made as we’re only human, however, there was no apology, no compensation, and when asking for compensation they were absolutely reluctant which made our experience slightly sour. A few improvements I would suggest for the spa would be to play relaxing spa music during massages to create a positive ambience, plus using proper Elemis products which give off the scent. Other Bannatyne spas have this however for some reason this branch did not so the brand is inconsistent.

Negative experience: I sometimes use this gym for convenience, However every time I go I say never again. £25 for a day pass, expensive compared to 3-5 quid at other gyms but fair enough it’s “health club”. What is really annoying is that every time you go you have to fill out a form on the computer with all your details, the same details you entered 2 weeks ago that haven’t changed, then they photo copy your driving license, again, take your photo, again. What they do with all this I have no idea, seemingly not save it other wise what’s the point in doing it every time! Then the staff, I’ve only every encountered one who was polite and help full, I find the rest rude and completely oblivious to the fact a smile and positive attitude wouldn’t go a miss when your paying 25 quid for a day pass and filling out a long winded form asking what you got for Christmas when you were five. To sum up, if you wonna walk on a treadmill, tickle some light weights and soak in the hot tub after this place might be for you, if you want get In put in an actual gym session and get out during your busy day I’d say go else where.
