Hizen kendo club: Opinions
Negative experience: I am a 4th dan and I have practiced under many strict teachers, including japanese police 8dan, so I know what a hard training feels like. The one class I took with Mr. Humm was just random rudeness, communication wasn't clear, I think he just didn't care. when I got back to Italy I found out he's pretty famous for his antics. Not a good reputation in London as well
Fantastic experience: Jeff Humm sensei is one of my favorite person.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic club ! Excellent and outstanding teacher who teaches traditional kendo., Senior students are excellent and experienced , great mix of people from all walks of life
Fantastic experience: I used to attend this club - and hope to do so again. Can't say I agree with the criticism at all. I thought the standard of teaching was excellent, and Humm Sensei was a tough but fair teacher. The club members were very nice too and the facilities good.
Positive experience: I do not doubt ability of the teachers at a l but when a pupil is having a hard time on a personal level they weren't interested in discussing the issues i was having at the time. I was advised by a friend who was involved in sports training to do so. One of my work colleagues at the time said i don't know how you keep standing up.. It was just a shame that these guys did not listen. They are one of the better kendo dojos. However, like the rest of the kendo dojos they need to think about claiming that anyone can learn kendo whatever there age. Most of the members are friendly but beware of one or two people. I do not agree with the review that Mr Humm is a nasty man, he is not everyone's cup of tea. As for the comments by David, we all have an opinion and see things from our perspective. i went there over a period of time and therefore in a better position to comment rather than a visitor.
Negative experience: Jeff Humm viciously nasty man doesn't know how to communicate with others outside of kendo in a respectably manner yet demands respect from others.
