Park Hall Resort & Spa: Opinions
Positive experience: I went on a works Christmas do here. It was a 2 course carvery meal and a drag act/DJ for entertainment. It was held in the banqueting hall. The food was okay, the drag act was quite funny. He wasn't the act which was advertised. It was a good night.
Fantastic experience: Excellent . Very comfortable, warm and quiet room. Will definitely stay there again
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic! Very high standard hotel just refurbished and with a brand new spa and gym and the staff looking after these are brilliant. Swimming pool due to open in a few days and the hotel is literally on a lake and beside the former theme park now used for Halloween.
Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel in beautiful location with lake. Did not say overnight, just attended for business meeting, but impressed with decor and ambience.
Positive experience: Had a lovely stay. Room was great, staff lovely. There were a few issues with speed of service at dinner, probably due to short staffing, but didn't spoil our stay. Bar lounge was quite cold and needed to wear a jacket.
Fantastic experience: Visited today for Afternoon Tea, which was a very pleasant experience. A fine selection of finger sandwiches, together with sausage rolls, a mini-burger, breaded chicken goujons and battered fish, followed by cakes and a beautiful scone with jam and clotted cream, all served with a glass of prosecco. Every aspect was prepared to perfection, and enjoyed in a comfortable, very well appointed restaurant. The staff were welcoming and very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend. * Note: I obviously can't speak for the rooms, but if they are to the same standard as the reception area, bar and restaurant I would expect them to be first class.
Positive experience: Lovely hotel. Nicest room I've stayed in, lovely big TV. Staff don't really know what's happening though. Having paid online I was told when I checked in that there was an outstanding amount to pay for the room till she noticed I'd booked through Agoda. Then took a £50 security deposit but couldn't take payment through my phone. Went to check out this morning and the guy also said there was an outstanding amount to pay. I told him I'd paid in full through Agoda and he just said ok that's fine. Surely it should say on their system that you've already paid?
Positive experience: I went to an awards event in the Lancastrian Suite, the venue was wonderful. There was a big screen behind the stage, and screens either side to watch the nominations. There were 285 of us in attendance, yet only 2 people behind the bar. The queues were huge. The food was Luke warm. Different foods were available, but all the plates and cutlery was in the middle of the table. Badly organised hospitality for such an event.
Negative experience: Should be far better than it is , someone needs to get outside and clean it up, rooms are miles away from reception and you take a shortcut using the fire escape, all very grubby outside, staff are lovely and piano great fun
Fantastic experience: Went here for our tea it was very nice the food was lovely the staff are very attentive had a wonderful time.
Negative experience: In a very derelict area. Supposed to be refurbished but apart from entrance couldn't see evidence. Stairs to rooms were grubby and although rooms were clean...ish, basic cheap furniture with no niceties. Tea coffee was just that. No decaf or different tea. No glasses in bathroom. Dining service was very slow and non romantic as American diner style. Had a set meal voucher for which standard menu was swiftly removed and replaced by very limited choices. Main disappointment was a closed gym and spa. When we booked it was supposed to be newly opened but was delayed. Wasn't an enjoyable stay.
Positive experience: Recently taken over by Brilliant Hotels, sadly, Park Hall is most definitely, far from brilliant. As regular customers of the hotel over the years, we've seen it decline in recent years due to Best Western selling and Covid. The hotel is dilapidated, crumbling and very tatty looking. We stayed overnight on dinner, bed and breakfast Thursday evening and had asked for a triple room. While the room itself had been refurbished and was quite pleasant, there was a nasty smell of damp all along the corridor on approach to the room. The third bed was a pull down bed and definitely unsuitable for a third adult. We ended up with an extra room. While the bed was comfy and all the bedding was new, it was extremely small for a double and we both felt very cramped. A lovely bathroom however with a decent shower was a redeeming feature. On arrival in the still magnificent reception area, we were told that our room, on the first floor, was inaccessible via the lift, which apparently only went to the second floor? This too smelt badly of damp. The staff certainly made us fell welcome, both bar and dining room. The food was pretty good too. All for £70 each bed, breakfast and evening meal. But the hotel has definitely seen better days and is badly in need of refurbishment. On walking round after our meal, we commented how much it had deteriorated since we last stayed. Sadly, I don't think we will be staying again.
Fantastic experience: Came to a an event here, what a great venue, plenty of parking and the location was perfect
Fantastic experience: The reception and dining room were beautiful. The decor was very elegant and clean. Staff were friendly and courteous. The food was great and a nice variety. I would recommend to anyone to have a meal there. Parking was easy and plenty of spaces.
Fantastic experience: Just did carboot. Not been inside the building. Car boot was massive on Bank Holiday Monday
Fantastic experience: Such a beautiful place the staff are just another level. So kind and friendly. The food again is 5* this place needs so much sharing so people know about it as it really is a fantastic place. They are offering 241 on all lunch and dinner menu from the a la carte menu 241 cocktails and even 2 fantastic offers on Groupon.
Fantastic experience: Nice hotel with quality food and awesome rooms, especially the service of the staffs make it more beautiful. The hotel is in a very good ambiance near the river side to relax and enjoy..Thankyou for your hospitality.
Fantastic experience: Only experienced the Signature restaurant, but it was excellent. Good quality food and friendly, efficient service. Very tastefully refurbished, warm & comfortable. Each item from the menu that we had was really good and well presented. Staff were very good. We will return.
Fantastic experience: Only used the restaurant so can't comment on the hotel. However, the service and food in the restaurant was superb, can't recommend highly enough
Positive experience: Decided to get away for a weekend and visit local area. Chose this hotel as it came up cheaper and as it was only one night it was in budget. Hotel entrance is typical of a middle Eastern type hotel but lacks the larger ornate vase and other decorative items, so not quite as appealing. It is clean and newly renovated in the hotel area as is the restaurant which looks to serve some great food, I didn't eat there. The bar area was lovely with nice new furniture and fittings but still feels dated. I was there some 15 years ago so maybe it's that feeling that still hangs on. The hotel has been taken over by Brilliant Hotel chain... so there is a lot of work going on albeit you don't really see much of it. There also appears to be a plethora of exciting things happening for the place in the coming year so keep an eye out for these. The only thing that put me off was the rooms. They did say that the rooms would be updated this year to match the similar furnishings to the hotel bar area. If so, it'll look great. Plans and ideas are posted in the same area and they do look really good so let's hope it works. The spa and gym are being renovated so leave your gear at home for now and relax with an ample selection of beers, wines and spirits. Overall, rooms at minute are poor with mattress a little hard. Bar area is lovely and relaxing but the entrance area needs some eye catching pieces to blend in with the size that welcomes you. Staff are new with experienced staff on hand to help so they're opening doors for new careers. Going to go back toward the end of the year to see how it has progressed. Ideal at minute for that short getaway so don't be out off. Lovely place too for weddings with large lake and little garden area with pagolas for those romantic photos.
Fantastic experience: We booked a meal on a Friday evening, on the 2nd week of the new ownership and management opening. We couldn't wait to try the new Streak House restaurant, especially as they have special offers on the new menu, until March. And lots of additional offers on themed nights. There has been extensive refurbishment, and the atmosphere had a feeling of elegance.. The restaurant Manager and waitress were attentive, we were seated in Booth like seating, and given time to explore the new menu..my husband had Squid and chorizo with a dip and loved it, I had shredded beef bon bons with a spice flavour, and this was delicious and a good portion size. For the mains, I loved my chicken curry, which had loads of chicken in it, and my hubby had mushroom linguine, which he really enjoyed. As a surprise, we were given a lovely chocolate tart. We had coffee in the lounge area and had a few drinks at the bar. The prices were reasonable for food and drink, and we would certainly return. Give it a try; you won't be disappointed.
Fantastic experience: Great night away with exceptional food and fantastic service.Reception,bar/lounge area looks stunning and the restaurant also looks good but the best thing about the stay was the excellent meals.Only downside is the room was a little dated but it was clean.Currently being refurbished I'm sure once the rooms are completed the hotel will be faultless. Will definetly return.
Negative experience: The staff are unhelpful, never return phone calls to sort out issues, have found them to be quite rude. Been taken over by brilliant hotels unfortunately they are not great and that's being kind.
Fantastic experience: Undergoing refurbishment. Reception completed. Excellent customer service for an individualistic breakfast request. Even the builders were very, very helpful!
Positive experience: Lovely spacious hotel, currently under renovation and will be beautiful once finished. Rooms were comfortable and warm. They could be a little cleaner but that purely due to old decor. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Location is close to the motorway. Lovely nice villages around to have a bite to eat or drink.
Negative experience: Christmas night out. Room freezing cold, £25 for a bottle of wine until they ran out of all wine by 10 pm. 2 main course options. Turkey, 3 sprouts, etc. Will not recommend or return
Positive experience: Myself and 4 friends attended the Madonna Party Night, stopover and breakfast following morning. Reception Area, Lobby Bar and Lounge, all totally refurbished with a comfortable and modern twist. Looked very good. Check-in was OK. Our rooms - I got the impression that the rooms were tired, and will be updated in time. Still functional and comfortable. Party night- well organised, good staff levels, bar staffed too. Food was served piping hot, delicious as was dessert. Please may it be possible to add Tea and coffee after dessert. I feel this would help to conclude a lovely meal. The act, DJ, disco were fantastic, a really good night, thank you Park Hall for making it memorable.
Positive experience: Where to start? The positives - a great evening in the function room and the buffet food got a good 4 out 5 as did the FoH staff. Breakfast was also good but the breakfast room was like a sauna! Bar staff need lots of training and someone with experience that can show the inexperienced ones what to do. Never have a function without prosecco and try not to run out of white wine. The rooms were generally OK (if a little hairy) but not ideal leaving a window open during the coldest part of the year so far. Heating around the hotel wasn't great (freezing in the corridors).
Negative experience: We only went to a Christmas party. But it was really disorganised. The staff was fine but not many of them. I don't even blame the manager or the staff. They did what was best. I blame the company who own it. Obviously trying to reopen it on a budget. This was one of those hotels who sacked the staff cancelled all the weddings and took the dodgy money from the government to house asylum seekers. Company's like that should not get supported I feel sorry for the staff who work there
Negative experience: Rooms very old and tired, bathroom held together by cellotape, iron mark on room carpet and beds were dirty on arrival. Walls are paper thin so very very noisy. Only one lift which was intermittent. Staff were very friendly and polite. Hotel has potential but needs a LOT of investment.
Negative experience: Wasn't the room we wanted, ask for the 4 poster bed got an old fashioned room the hotel was under renovation so was cold a lot of people were complaining it looked like a bomb site, only got told there was work going on the day before should not of been open if you were disabled you would of been stuck to get in not impressed
Positive experience: Tha location was stunning. The Food delicious & the service second to none. The hotel is in the middle of refurbishment so the rooms needed updating. The potential is clearly there. Wishing the new owners all the best. It will he amazing.
Positive experience: Rooms are comfortable but somewhat dated and ready for a refresh. Service was friendly and very efficient and the location is lovely and very convenient for the M6
Fantastic experience: Great value for money very friendly staff large rooms Definitely stay again.
Positive experience: Hotel is currently going through a complete refurbishment, so do not take my 3* Rooms rating as a negative. Rooms are clearly tired as of Sept '23. Hotel has only been open for a short time after being closed. Now under new ownership and they are clearly spended a significant amount of money on bringing it up to a very high standard which this Hotel was always known for. Please Expect workers on site, areas being decorated, sections of the site closed off. Design Boards are displayed in the Bar Area to view. Work is expected to be ongoing to end of 2023, but non of this should stop you booking this hotel. Having both working in the Hotel industry and now due to work being a frequent hotel guest around the UK, there is nothing that negatively impacts your stay. You receive a warm welcome any time of day or night with 24hr reception. Food is very good, even with a limited menu. Breakfast is certainly worth the charges and Staff are welcoming and attentive. I will update this review, Post-Refurb! To at least give views a true representation of this hotel.
Positive experience: Currently being renovated. The staff were great, really friendly & welcoming. We accidentally left an Armani watch in our room. Rang the hotel & it had been handed to reception for collection.
Fantastic experience: We stayed for 10 days great place as a base to visit the north west some facilities not available hotel is under some refurb which took the shine off our stay but we might come back when it's up to standard
Negative experience: Hotel is old and dirty. When arrived there were problem with toilet flashing, not sorted out, but then worked more or less. Personal is gentle and very accomodant, even if, in 4 days staying, the towels number was always wrong. The position and the surroundings were good, easily access to all lancashire country and villages
Positive experience: Very dated rooms but very clean. If your looking for a cheap Night away it's fine, felt sorry for the one guy trying to run reception do the bar and deal with complaints . Reminded me of Faulty towers . We had a good laugh to be honest and would go back, hopefully they upgrade the hotel soon.
Negative experience: Beautiful surroundings but too many maintenance issues. No lift working so majority of guests allocated first floor although room is quiet. Problems with bathroom plumbing, no tv system working in any room which is not acceptable when youre staying for a week. Also very limited evening meal menu if staying more than a few days. Staff very pleasant and try to accommodate but maintenance issues seem to be out of their control. Sure the hotel will improve eventually but cannot recommend based on this stay. Also the photos on the website are from many moons ago and do not bear a resemblance to what the site looks like now so bear that in mind.
Negative experience: If it could have 0 stars it would be given one, I attended here 4 weeks away from my friends wedding. They canceled her wedding 4 weeks out, are refusing to give her, her money back for the wedding and all the guest that booked to stay there aswell. When this place opens back up I hope after what they have done canceling so many peoples wedding and guest that had booked to stay without a refund that they are unsuccessful and there are remembered for there terrible customer service
Fantastic experience: Excellent stay and amazing value. The catering and hospitality team were attentive and produced excellent food. Service couldn't be faulted. The village rooms are very large and offer tranquillity as they are remote from the main building
Positive experience: Stayed as part of a larger group my room was well presented and clean however the room was unbelievably hot overnight were as some of the rooms in the party experienced cold drafty rooms especially from around the windows in the main hotel and village rooms Breakfast was a let down no alternative egg option other than fried, no white bread available and had run out of orange juice At £10 per person I expected a better offering I enjoyed the hash browns and mushrooms other than tomatoes that weren't cooked properly the black pudding was rock hard and bacon salty as I don't eat sausage or fried egg it was a poor do, the only good things was the limitless coffee, but they ran sort of cups?? Dont understand why things weren't available as we went down well within the time slot for breakfast.
Positive experience: Lovely hotel, rooms are slightly dated but good for one night stay, bed was lovely and comfy and the hotel surroundings are pretty and easy to drive to, great works Xmas do and overnight stay. Food at the do however was pretty bad and drinks are a bit pricey too hense only 4 stars
Fantastic experience: We stayed at Park Hall for one night away on a Groupon deal. As soon as we parked and got out of the car we smelt a horrible strong smell of petrol. We checked into the room but the room smelt of petrol and it was giving me a headache so we decided to go to reception to see if we could change rooms . We saw a lady called Emma who was acting Manger for the evening and she apologised for the smell and explained it was the boiler and that rooms on the first floor would have this issue. She changed our room to the second floor, away from the boiler, she gave us complimentary drinks in the bar and even arranged for a bottle of wine with our meal. She was amazing!! The hotel should think about promoting her to Manager (rather than acting) she was so pleasant and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We had an unexpected situation in the restaurant later in the evening but the staff were all so friendly and helpful we had a little giggle about it later and also at breakfast! (you'll not forget that one!!) The staff and cleanliness and food quality do this hotel credit! We had such a lovely stay such that we are going back mid-Christmas to have a little "us time" and staying in such a friendly and comfortable hotel. Management need to sort the boiler situation as I am sure more people would love to stay there and maybe haven't said anything about it. Thank you to Emma and all the staff at Park Hall, really looking forward to seeing you all again at Christmas! xxx
Positive experience: Booked the hotel for the beautifull swimming pool for my daughter to have a splash but when we got there we were told its not functional! Very dissapointed with that, because we should have been informed. Overall our trip was saved by the Duty Manager Emma which was an absolute bless and made our journey worthwile. Absolute superstar made us feel like home and cut no corners in showing us what good management is all about! Thank you for everything Emma, all the best!!!
Fantastic experience: Booked through Groupon so didn't go to main site. Welcomed by a very unenthusiastic you lady on reception. Not particularly friendly. She advised us a lot of the leasure facilities (the ones we wanted) weren't open. I asked why they advertised them on Groupon and she replied well it is on all our sites. The room was nice, tidy and clean. Drinks quite expensive (£10.50) for 2 pints. The only reason for my 5 score is our restaurant experience. We were greeted by Emma who was bubbling over with enthusiasm. So very friendly and happy to help with anything. We had baked gifts cheese and a prawn and salmon cocktails for starters these were really nice. For main we had haddock and chips. Really well made, massive portion and proper chips. The best of all though was the steak. It was fantastic, one of the best cooked streaks we have ever had. I would go back just for that!! Descent nights sleep and up for breakfast. Emma was there to greet us again. So happy and welcoming. God knows how she keeps it up. Breakfast was lovely with a great choice. Checkout easy smiling man on reception checking we had a good time. All in all id go back if only for Emma and the food!
Fantastic experience: Delighted with our last minute decision to stay. Clean, spacious. Fabulous friendly staff. Really good quality breakfast. Lovely bathrooms. All looks recently updated. Will be back.
Fantastic experience: Stayed here on a recent Mystery tour. Far outceeded our expectations. We had booked a twin room, and were very pleased with what we were given. Not a room but a suite. Sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. Super comfortable beds. TV in both bedroom and living area. Very comfortable.
Positive experience: We enjoyed our 2 day stay, the staff very polite & friendly, very good choice & quality of food, but some areas of the hotel would benefit from a refurb but having said that these are difficult times for this industry & we must be sympathetic.
Fantastic experience: One. Woman, one. Name, CHRISTINE! Absolutely love this hotel, what an absolute hidden gem. The. Lake. Is. Stunning and lovely to sit on the, bench.on the. Edge at night. Lovely buildings., especially the one housing the restaurant, its like A. Chapel. We were drawn in. To. The groupon deal and pictures but however good they still under estimate this beauty spot.... The food was amazing, confused by the review saying the portions are small, they are. Very generous and. The standard is. 5*.This also reflects the service from. Christine in the restaurant. We woild return just. To. Enjoy a. Chat with her and to have a genuone. Person interested in the customers... Thanks hard to Find Now. The young girl on reception is. Also very helpful and polite. We would like to renew our wedding vows here, perfect setting. Love it ✌️✝️
Fantastic experience: Quite the find really, me and the wife love our romantic breaks away from the hustle to reconnect and this charming little getaway is excatly what's needed, few little pubs and restaurants around but unnecessary as the food was pretty amazing, hays off to the shy little chef and staff was lovely, Christine especially
Negative experience: Looks great online with ample parking, but this is where the good illusion ends, I regret to advise. Couldn't park, poor service on check in, went to my room which was already allocated to someone, restaurant last seating 830pm, bar good size but ill stocked and sticky / dirty absolutely no professional service. Bar food simple options almost fast food as the kitchen closed at 9pm sharp. I had to use a soup spoon to eat my main meal as there was nothing else. Zero table service, not the end of the world. Bedroom grotty, dated with curtains hanging off the wall and faulty toilet wasting water. The swimming pool early AM was small and to the left of what looked like it was either under repair or under construction of some sort. Jacuzzi was great. Breakfast we were able to use restaurant no service despite sign stating stay wait to be seated then you slip your manhood into the hole through the leather look chair as it is split carefully standing when you realize they have quite literally got you by the balls. Breakfast food was good coffee nice cutlery almost clean enough to be acceptable. I am someone who has to travel for work every week, I love my job, and although I stick to a mid-range budget I found this fell far short in ever way. The site is huge it has fantastic opportunity ahead of itself but need major injection of money or it will turn into a load of houses.
Negative experience: Facilities were ok and the rooms were clean but the beds were rock hard and the pillows were incredibly thin. Didn't sleep a wink plus £15 for a breakfast is just a joke. Wouldn't return in a hurry.
Positive experience: reception walking in was beautiful. check in was smooth and staff were helpful. Room was nice and beds clean and comfy. Cleaning wasnt the best but it was tidy enough. Struggled to manage a wheelchair and suitcases in the small lift and through large fire doors. Restaurant was very nice and food was ok, staff very friendly and attentive for dinner service. Went to the health suite and oh my goodness, the state of the small pool was dire! floor looked dirty and stained, middle of it just looked like bare plaster. the roof looks like it has caved in several times and one part even has a tarpaulin covering it. Needs sorting out majorly. we would come back and use the hotel but not if we were looking for a relaxing pool and hot tub. also on our visit the disabled lift stopped working making our stay very difficult as most facilities were up the steps to the bar
Fantastic experience: Its a very nice place to stay with or without kids. Swimming pool is very nice, the lake with lots of ducks always attract my kids. The price is always affordable even during busy periods, We been using this place since 2004, and everytime we go we love the place more. The breakfast is very nice and staff at restaurant is very very nice.
Positive experience: Needs a bit of renovation but for the price we paid I can't complain. Decent place albeit dated I enjoyed our stay and the facilities. NB. It looks like renovations are taking place in some rooms.
Negative experience: Stayed here a few times in the last year and the wifi has been utterly useless on each occasion. The walls between rooms are paper thin. Food is OK. Staff are pleasant in the main. Once you get past the shiny reception area everything starts looking a bit tired.
Positive experience: Nice place to stay staff were all really nice and very helpful only complaint I would say was trying to get in and out of the bath/shower as the toilet pan was right next to bath no room also shower head had not been cleaned in a while as all black mold build up but would stay again
Fantastic experience: Group on deal. 2 nights accommodation 1 night dinner 2 day breakfast. Food was superb. Staff were exceptional, very helpful nothing but compliments to them all. Rooms were outstanding a little noisy next to the kitchens preparing breakfast. We had wine with our dinner. Wine was very pricey £22 a bottle. Views and the lake added to our visit. Definitely worth a visit. We will return in future.
Negative experience: Two stars are for great food, great dining area staff and most of the hotel staff. Our first encounter was an extremely rude and unhelpful receptionist with dyed bright red hair. Got worse from there. The chalets we were in are appalling. Everything in tatters and run down. So depressing. Reception ate is smart, but nowhere else was. Roof falling down in swimming area, steam rooms don't work. Couldn't look at beds after seeing the stains poking out under cover of duvet! Trying to find a decent seat in dining room was impossible. Having said all that, Manager Alex and Paul did everything they could to make our 3 day stay bearable.
Positive experience: Nice hotel, friendly staff, good food in the bar. A few things a bit dated and in need it some TLC but overall we enjoyed our stay!
Negative experience: The staff were very accommodating and helpful however the room is so outdated I would expect a builder to stay there for the week working away and for £10 a night NOT £90 and the room to stink of mold and a tiny double bed, stayed in Holiday Inn for 30 and been so much better with King bed.
Positive experience: Park Hall has great staff, they are so welcoming from reception, bar and restaurant. The big question is how much profit are the owners/bosses making from the extortionate prices at the bars? I have never came across so high prices in my life for a pint of beer and a double vodka + diet coke. Nearly £14.00 for just 2 drinks is totally disgusting, I maybe of a certain age however that should not be an issue. I certainly hope the bar staff are on some sort of bonus, but that is no excuse for the prices either. On a good note rooms clean, breakfast was good but should have been hotter, chairs at breakfast time so uncomfortable, tables not far enough apart, quite squished in. I'm not apology sing for comments because I speak/say how I feel and hope, no need changes to be made if this company needs to survive.
Positive experience: Very helpful staff, we hadn't packed any shampoo or conditioner for an overnight stay went to reception they very quickly supplied me with a bag full of the required items. The whole place seems to be undergoing a refurbishment, our room was away from the main building because we had a puppy with us, the room was spotless clean and tidy bathroom lovely, only thing was bath very slippy needed a bath mat to safely shower in, minor thing really
Positive experience: A clean, decent hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great and reasonably priced as were the drinks. Whilst the spa was in need of some renovations it was clean and the facilities, jacuzzi, steam room, Sauna and pool were all enjoyable to use.
Positive experience: I have been a member of park hall gym for a couple of years now. i like this place as it is quiet. There are no body builders which I find intimidating. But is in need of a refurbishment in various parts.
Negative experience: Hotel looked good, but we were put in a chalet type village room, away from the main hotel, a walk in the rain unfortunately! The mattress needed replacing and we could see daylight through most of the gaps in the ceiling tiles. Food was good and staff very pleasant.
Positive experience: Lovely staff and room was clean. The leisure facilities are good - but could do with a face lift. Bar food was great.
Fantastic experience: Cracking family hotel with swimming pool, spa steam room, sauna and gym all free to use for hotel guests. The hotel is modern and clean but the outdoor village area at the rear of the hotel is a little run down but still clean and tidy and ideal for families. Book direct with the hotel for some great prices. Ideal location to explore all around the north west of England and beyond.
Negative experience: I think there was staffing issues when I arrived but who could blame, there is a pandemic and a lot of hospitality people went for other jobs. They are doing well here but what really upset me was the attitude of the customers. Cmon guys give the hospitality trade a rest, you need to understand it's not going to be like before. The staff are more stressed as they have more jobs to take on, so instead of moaning about the towels, how about asking for the towels that you never got, I'm sure they will bring some towels for you. Thanks
Negative experience: Terrible experience. One of the receptionists was very rude, unhelpful & gave me a key for an early check in room....late & the room wasn't ready. I had to quickly get ready for a wedding, hence the early check in, and use toilet paper to dry myself after a wash. I left the bathroom cleaner then it was when I went in. Wedding servers - fantastic young adults. Wedding barpersons-fantastic. Breakfast staff- fantastic. One particular receptionist, the face and first impression of the hotel, needs re-training.
Fantastic experience: Stay was wonderful. Its set in beautiful grounds with a lake and ducks! The rooms we stayed in were clean to a high standard. Food excellent. All the staff of the hotel are friendly and polite and bend over backwards to make sure you have a happy stay. all staff on at pageant week...thank you xxx
Fantastic experience: Only stayed for the one night and had a couple of these puppies in the morning , staff were absolutely lovely. server with orange hair was seeing to me, made my stay worth its while! cracking pints, cheap rooms completely worth their price tag twice over.
Positive experience: Stayed in main building for a week with 2 kids. Unfortunately room service dont exist until You will ask for... Nobody cleaned up our room for a week ( linen, towels, bins, carpet floor). Had to catch room service in the morning and ask for fresh towels after 5 days... Not sure is it because Covid restrictions and Hotel internal instructions but after 7 days in one room with kids it look bad. Great breakfast. Good fun in the pool. Nice and helpfully service! Room service very kind also but maybe they have some kind instructions which must be improved! Anyway my kids enjoyed stay so as me. Two another issues which wasnt affect our stay, elevetor in main hall and room phone not working. Not sure about lunch or dinner because we was eating during afternoons wee trips
Fantastic experience: Can't wait to go back. Perfect in every way. Highly recommended. The staff are so helpful. Well I went back, what a difference in such a short time. We were given a room on the second floor, when we stepped out of the lift the smell was awful. The carpets must have become wet and allowed to dry but it smelled musty and horrible. Not too worry we thought the room will be better, nope the room was even worse. The carpet had creases in it that tripped you up. The carpet an iron mark on it were someone had left the hot iron on it. The room smelled awful. We went to request another room and we got the key for another room on the second floor. When we opened the door the TV was on and the bed had been slept in, obviously the room was in use. We went back to the reception and was given a room on the first floor. This was better but still the carpet looked dirty and had ripples in it as if it had been soaked and left to dry. We went into the restaurant and there was nothing that took my fancy. The waitress was so kind and couldn't do enough for us and she organised a different meal. This lady was amazing and a credit to the hotel. I am not sure whether it is right to name her here so if you were working the restaurant on Friday 10th September you are a credit to the hotel and we would like to thank you. The spa seems to have taken a hit from the weather as well the roof had caved in and the changing rooms were not at their best. The steam room wasn't working nor was a spa pool but the water was a nice temperature. I think it will be a while before we go back which is a shame.
Fantastic experience: The food was amazing, and the staff were so helpful. Considering that we went the night before lockdown 2 and the hotel was quite quiet, we had a fantastic stay and would love to go back again in the future
Positive experience: Clean sheets, warm, fair size room. Staff where polite and cheery considering the current situation. Near an abandoned theme park which is cool and very creepy at the same time. Would stay again
Fantastic experience: i regulary stay and sometimes not able to make a reservation until later in the day. On arrival i often am checked in by the night porter Jimmy. i would like to commend him for his welcoming customer service and feel like no jobs too much for him. Also the hotel is very clean and in the current climate this is very important, lots of sanitising stations.
Fantastic experience: Some of the reviews on their site do them no justice. Me and my daughter visited for the weekend and it was a beautiful place our room was beautiful and clean there where loads of clean towels hair dryer iron ect. The staff where lovley nothing is to much for them. The swimming my daughter really enjoyed and the breakfast was lovley again staff amazing we where made to feel at home and welcome they will accommodate you to the best of their ability we'd be booking again this weekend if we had the funds. Thank you for our stay as it was gratefully appreciated the length you go to with the lovley clean rooms and the hospitality ❤️
Fantastic experience: Stayed a brief night travelling with work, just wanted to say, recieved fantastic service, particularly from a lady at reception (who I was later told may have been the head receptionist?), our work had messed up and not paid the for the rooms, the receptionist went well out of her way to get it sorted for us. Tall chap at the bar was also very helpful and friendly, had to keep running around to find the card machine but was happy to come to me, to save me waiting around.
Positive experience: Disabled facilties were second to none. Room and shower were great and the main hotel was impressive too. Drinks were pricey but the gin selection was good. However the cider selection was very limited. Reception staff were not very attentive and left us waiting several minutes without acknowledging us when we checked in, which I consider to be poor practise for hospitality I also asked to use the lift to the restaurant floor, due to reduced mobility issues, which had to be operated by a key on reception. Each time I came back from A meal I had to struggle down the stairs because the receptionist was either too busy to notice me or not there at all. I rang reception repeatedly from our room on the first night and eventually got through but I waited ages for them to answer. The WiFi is very hit and miss outside the main hotel despite it being advertised as available throughout the complex. Finally, we booked for dinner on the first night of our stay in the hotel restaurant. Menu was VERY limited and food was VERY overpriced for what we recieved. Everything tasted salty and was a complete let down We complained but they still took payment for the food and we were told that if we wanted to complain to the general manager we'd have to ask for him at reception. In my opinion we should not have to go looking for a manager and our food should not have been charged to us as we were not satisfied with it We were offered a half price meal for the next evening after the reception manager found out that we were unhappy about our meal but we didn't really have much h faith in the restaurant by then. That said our pre booked breakfasts were lovely but we were informed that this was a different chef from the evening meal chef. Ifs such a shame that their staff aren't trained better because the disabled facilities are amazing. We would stay there again for that reason only but would never eat there again or expect a decent standard of customer service Maybe some staff training would improve the hotel ?
Positive experience: Lovely and helpful staff. Very nice food, extremely good value accommodation all though a little dated and could do with renervation. Pools are quiet and warm which makes them a nice place to relax.
Positive experience: Lovely family wedding, a lovely day only marred by the weather. Going to the different bars and function rooms in the rain was problematic 1 umbrella didn't quite work. Staff in main bar especially a happy lady who made our visit memorable and couldn't do enough for us
Positive experience: Absolutely fantastic, food delicious, clean place, staff friendly/helpful, really is a lovely place, gave 4 stars just because of tired/worn/aged(however you word it) carpet, bathroom facilities etc in our room
Fantastic experience: I cant rate this hotel highly enough. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful especially reception. The roo. was very spacious and clean with a bath and toiletries. There was a well stocked coffee tray and free wiki in your room. The food was outstanding and service was good. leisure facilities were a little tired but two pools a jacuzzi steam room and sauna to use was very nice.
Negative experience: Started badly, wouldn't let anyone book in till official time of 3pm which meant a queue time of 35mins just to book in. Reception was very nice but rooms very outdated. No shampoo/conditioner or hot water in original village room. Lovely lady at reception got us a better room, we were there for the disco night with 3course meal. The food was very good and the DJ excellent. Drinks were very pricey. 1 pint bitter and 1small wine cost £9.60. Got back to hotel room about midnight, the noise was absolutely deafening from other events going on. No sleep till gone 2am. Breakfast was included and was excellent . Overall was happy to pay £53 for the disco night but £91 for the room was overpriced. Wouldn't stay again or recommend.
Fantastic experience: Had very enjoyable overnight stay .Immaculate through out.good facilities in room. Tea/coffee biscuits. Hairdryer and Iron . Comfortable bed.Used the pools sauna /spa and jaccuzi's very good. Evening meal in resteraunt was very good prompt service. All the staff from reception bar staff waitresses room service were great very polite nothing was to much trouble. Best customer service on all levels I have seen anywhere and I have stayed at many places over many years. Definately recommend
Fantastic experience: Amazing stay, reception staff that greeted us were super friendly and welcoming, had a good chat with us before telling us everything we needed to know and even inviting us to join them at their works do that night if we wanted to. Food in the restaurant was exceptional, wasn’t expecting much as hotel food is usually a bit substandard but this was brilliant, food would not be out of place at an expensive a la carte restaurant which I guess explains the rosettes they have won for food the past three years. Our waitress was working alone but did a great job, she was a good laugh and couldn’t have done enough for us. Food arrived quick after ordering, literally can’t find a single bad thing to say about it. The spa facilities were great too, not too busy at the time we went (January 12th) very clean and well kept. The bar staff were great and we never had to wait to be served, the all inclusive package is an absolute bargain and we will definitely visit again because of this and everything else we experienced during our stay. We thought quality of drinks would drop due to them being all Inclusive but the draught beer was Becks and was lovely, the red wine was really nice too. Anybody considering a visit should definitely do so.
Fantastic experience: For some strange reason there are a few negative social media reviews regarding Park Hall Hotel Chorley. Some people must be very hard to please! Myself and 5 female friends took advantage of the All Inclusive one night deal offered by Lavender Hotel Group and we chose to stay at Park Hall Hotel. From booking the break with Helena, to checking out with Caroline, ALL the staff at Park Hall Hotel are superb. The hotel is lovely and clean and the leisure facilities are as well. Our stay included use of the leisure club. The kindly lady at the leisure club reception explained all the facilities to us. The pool and Jacuzzi were nice and empty and warm and clean, and two of us had a treatment in Cleopatra Salon, which was great! Our deal included a two-course meal in the Restaurant. For a little extra, we all chose to add a third course, and we were glad we did. The food was delicious, and the staff were brilliant - especially Jennie who was extra helpful as 3 of us ladies have mobility issues. Two of our ladies were celebrating birthdays and were given lovely treats from the chef. A lovely touch which was very much appreciated. The barman James deserves a mention, he was friendly and polite with a good sense of humour, which came through as the drinks flowed. Don't be fooled into thinking all inclusive drinks would be watered down, tasteless stuff, there were lots of big brands included in the deal and if you can't enjoy yourself when you can drink unlimited from 6pm through to 11pm, then there's definitely something wrong with you! We didn't go overboard on the drinks either, we were busy joining in the singing, as I brought my guitar and all the guests in the bar area joined in, which created a brilliant atmosphere. We had asked permission first as we didn't want to cause offence, but the staff were more than happy for us to entertain ourselves. We had a fab night and made lots of new friends. The rooms were fine and no one had any problems. Despite the M6 being in close proximity, there was no noise, and we all slept well, except for me who had to share with a loud snorer! Next morning we had a very good breakfast. There's so much choice, one can have as little or as much as they can eat! Caroline checked us out and was very informative, enquiring as to our satisfaction over our stay. All I can say is, you'd be daft NOT to book into Park Hall Hotel, especially on the All Inclusive deal, which is worth EVERY penny! WE'LL BE BACK!
Negative experience: The rooms are well past the point of needing refurbishment. The carpets are worn, the sink has a crack in it, the pipes vibrate when you flush the toilet, the shower head is moldy, the tv is tiny and everything looks worn and outdated.
Negative experience: Tired hotel and a major smell in the main hotel area. Room given was tired and in need of new carpet and bathroom refurbishment. M6 can be heard in the room in the morning. Restaurant good high quality with a nice selection available and well cooked; very professional kitchen staff.
Negative experience: The rooms are really grubby with spider webs and bathrooms that do not work, there was no where to walk our dog eventhough we thought there would be however the breakfast was lovely and the staff were also really nice :). There is a scary abandoned theme park about 200m away from the hotel which is pretty weird too... We found a weird brown substance floating in the hot tub also
Fantastic experience: I went to our annual Christmas Party night with work friends. We were entertained all night, the Drag Queen started the night off with singing and games. Then we had 3 really good tribute acts. Britney,Ed and Christina, all excellent to sing along and dance to. The food was hot and plenty of choice, pre - ordered wines were set out on your table ready. Unlimited tea, coffee and mince pies. Staff were attentive and efficient. Great party night and would visit again.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant hotel, kids loved the pool and the room annex was comfortable! My one gripe would be that neither the hotel or restaurant have a kids menu so we had to order out otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
Fantastic experience: Went to a rave their excellent place were 500 plus people drink, talk abd dance most of the night with zero violence coming from Bolton were their seems violence most nights if you go out it's such a lovely night I'd recommend it to anyone who's had enough of Piss't up planks who think they're ten men and cause trouble I believe the next one is in on 5 February but I'm not entirely sure upon the date. So y'all come down for a good night
Positive experience: In need of a little modernisation in the rooms such as the carpets which were stained and lifting. But very reasonable price and friendly staff. The breakfast is very good. We attended a wedding here which was beautiful!
Positive experience: Good facilities at the hotel but in need of a refresh of the decor including the Village rooms. Staff friendly and helpful. Good value for what we paid considering it was start of Scottish half-term.
Negative experience: I stayed in this hotel and my family was given a newly painted room that stunk of horrible paint even on open windows ...I mentioned this and manager contacted me about 50% on my next stay. When I contacted him to about how to claim and use the discounted offer the manager ignored my email and never got back to me....bad customer treatment!
Fantastic experience: We held our wedding at this hotel - wow! The staff went above ant beyond to ensure our day ran as smoothly as possible, even rearranging events to accommodate us, after issues with another venue. We received compliments on the food served during the wedding breakfast and the hot buffet at night - my Dad was catered for specifically as he is an incredibly fussy eater. Nothing was too much trouble.. Exactly the kind of service we expected as the bride and groom! Huge thanks to Sue & Mike, who were our co-ordinator, they did everything possible to ensure the day went without hitch. Thankyou again to all staff
