Cowbridge Leisure Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: I had assumed that paying membership meant that I could join classes and be free to walk any part of the gym , apparently not . I walked up to the bike class room they have upstairs with intention to join a class and I walked through the door the class had recently begun and I was met with shouting by the member of staff stating that there’s a class going on and to leave . Having realised I was not welcome I went to leave trough the doors accross the room but was met with sarcastic and belittling remarks by the ‘gentlemen’ a mr Mike Gingell running the class , who then proceeded to say I wasnt aloud to join the class in a very aggressive way whilst also borderline shouting. Refusing to let myself be bullied I stood my ground only to be met with more snarky remarks and concerningly rather threateningly said “ we’re going to have a little chat” refusing to waste more of my time on him I then removed myself . Only reason it’s not a one star review is that when I voiced my concerns to a young member of staff at the desk I was delighted in his professionalism and manners and other members of staff are very polite however I recommend everyone to avoid a ‘ Mike gingell ‘ he is was extremely rude, aggresive and patronising speaking to me as if I was a child , mike you’ve let your team down big time .
Fantastic experience: Very busy, loads of activities. ITV were filming the Welsh Blood Service there today.
Fantastic experience: Only went past it , taking my mother in law to doctor's surgery next door .but before covid came in March 2020 I used the leisure centre for the gym .which was great
Positive experience: Ideal local fitness centre. Not 24 hour.
Fantastic experience: Nice clean well set up hall with great staff who are on hand should you need anything.
Positive experience: Very welcoming, had a lovely cup of coffee there
Positive experience: They do try to please everyone.thanks.
Positive experience: Was there for a bowls match. Good welcome.
Positive experience: Helpful pleasant staff. Clean facilities.
Fantastic experience: Held my grandchild's 6th birthday party which turned out to be an excellent venue to hold it. The hire of the hall for 2 hours including an indoor bouncy castle, tables and seating big enough to cater for 36 children and their parents for £105.00. This did not include the food which we all provided. The children all had a fantastic time on the bouncy castle ensuring they were never bored. There was also a choice of coffees available at the reception desk, exactly the types sold in Costa for around £2.20 to £2.75. Parking was no problem as plenty of spaces available by the main entrance for mother's and toddlers as well as disabled blue badge holders.
Thank you for your kind comments and I am hope your grandchild had a lovely birthday. Graham Clark - Centre Manager
Fantastic experience: Great
Negative experience: Very out dated facility where everything could do with a refresh. Staff are friendly and seem to work hard, but the building and facilities themselves aren’t very good
Thank you for your feedback, we are currently waiting for works to refurbish Cowbridge Leisure Centre, we appreciate your patience and understanding, Kind regards Graham Clark Centre Manager
Positive experience: Very good activities, male changing rooms are a bit run down.
Hi Keith, thank you for your feedback, we are working on updating the facilities at Cowbridge Leisure Centre, our current main project is the Health Suite and getting that back up and running for our members and guests. Please bare with us and we appreciate your patience and understanding, Kind regards Graham Clark - Centre Manager
Positive experience: Currently under going roof renovation which is taking too long but the staff are very friendly and obliging and accommodating. Cloths and antibacterial are used to wipe down equipment by the individual. The cloths are then put into a bin at the end of the session to be washed and re-used- excellent way of recycling
Hi Donna, thank you for your review, all customer feedback is taken seriously as it helps us improve our services and the customer journey when using our Leisure Centre. The roofing works has been delayed for various reasons and we are constantly chasing the contractors for a completion date so we get back to some normality at Cowbridge. Thank you for your patience and understanding, Graham Clark Centre Manager
Negative experience: Been numerous works going on for best part of 2 years, certain facilities like the spa have been out of action since 2020, with no communication from management on when these facilities will be open again, keep blaming contractors for lack of facilities, no reason to have the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna all out of action. Numerous equipment such as treadmills are still out of action (3 months ) this is a pain when already limited equipment is limited further because they are faulty and not been fixed, Roofing works have been taking place for about 6 months now with no sign of being finished any time soon, leaking roof often rendering the gym out of action or even being closed on numerous occasions (22,1,22) recent 50% off is appreciative but it’s about 1 year to late. Most gyms, leisure facilities are currently offering 1 month free gym membership with access to all facilities! The staff are helpful enough and apologetic but there has been very little if any communication from senior management
Hi Kirstu, thank you for your message, all member feedback is vital in helping us improve our services and our overall customer experience. We are currently waiting on the parts to arrive for the Health suite so we can reopen to our members. Once these arrive, works will be scheduled and we will reopen. I appreciate your patience and understanding, Kind regards Graham Clark Centre Manager
Positive experience: Needs a good clean, there are stickers and gum on the sports hall walls, some of it has been there 3 years now to my knowledge. Floor is breaking up in places also. Loo cubicles falling apart, manky hallway carpets. Lockdown would have been a perfect opportunity to get such maintenance done.
Hi Maxine, thank you for your email, all feedback is welcomed as it helps us improve the experience we offer to our members. In regards to the Facilities at Cowbridge, we are currently looking at investing in a refurbishment of the gyms and corridors etc with new carpets, gym equipment and an updated Health Suite. Please bear with us, in the meantime, I will pass your comments onto the team and we will increase our daily walk round cleans to be even more thorough. Kind regards Graham Clark - Centre Manager

Positive experience: Very spacious and fun filled activities
Fantastic experience: Friendly, knowledgeable staff who are there to ask for help or guidance should you wish. Lisa who cares for the "referrals" is an amazing Lady, absolutely the best, gives lots of encouragement whilst gently pushing you in the right direction. Took up Pilates as a good "core exercise", Michelle is fantastic, gives an easy option for newbies and leads you through the exercises, makes you feel able to keep going and keep trying. Like anywhere and anything, you get back what you put in, but if you invest the effort you will be well rewarded by the Staff here.
