Swinton and Pendlebury Leisure Centre

Fantastic experience: Swimming teachers are amazing , very nice staff especially Helen and Meg .The pool is clean and no rubbish anywhere . Recommend for swimming lessons and gym

Negative experience: I found the pool, showers and changing cubicles clean. But the pool is crazily shallow for over half of its length and I actually kept stubbing my toe as I attempted to swim at the shallow end. Perhaps I don’t swim well enough. The showers are communal (though single sex) and prudish I may be, but it meant I wasn’t comfortable having a proper wash after my swim. I’m not going back. The website and app with the pool timetable has a serious flaw in that session information disappears as soon as the session begins. It’s bad enough when the session is an hour (someone living nearby might still have time to go) but at Worsley lane swimming is available for several hours each day yet you have to phone to check the times.

Fantastic experience: Had a party bouncy castle today for my son and daughter. The room is a great size, the have a sound system you can connect to for music. Our helper today was so lovely and friendly! He gave excellent customer service and really helped to make the party go smoothly thank you so much. Highly recommend for parties

Positive experience: Use this for the gym. Not bad gym but gets very busy after work. Wiuld love a shower after but male showers are communal, so I don't use them. Very 1970's, not what you want this day and age. Would give 3.5 if I could.

Negative experience: Just rubbish everywhere

Positive experience: Class was great (pilates) but even though the gym equipment was good, there was only one cleaning spray and one roll of tissue (hidden away and seperate so hard to find!) so no one was cleaning after each use and I didn't feel it was a clean environment. I reported this to the lady at reception and she said she would tell someone. Maybe it's not always like that.

Fantastic experience: Amazing community, reception are amazing people especially you Helen . Amazing gym and services provided too

Negative experience: Honestly, this gym is a bit rubbish. If you go in the morning the girls changing room is full of high school kids, sitting on the sinks, vaping, shouting etc. fine but it's not big enough for that, I was in the shower and just felt odd being in there with a group of school kids outside. Showers are gross so I avoid them now as well. If you go from 4pm onwards the gym is full of high school kids and I mean full. Unsupervised taking up all the equipment and not even using it. The last thing you want when your working out is a bunch of school kids staring at you. Really strange that there allowed in without anyone to supervise them, especially In the free weights bit. I'm locked in for a few more months but I won't be going back after my membership runs out unless this gets changed. No problem with staff for me though, all lovely.

Negative experience: Gym is not worth the £35 memebership fee. Equipment is old and not replaced often enough. Machines are often out of order. Gym feels untidy as weights are left around the floor. Would be much better value for money to go to a larger chain (flr cheaper membership fee). Can do the basics but the gym doesnt inspire you to want to workout.

Negative experience: Reception is so rude

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed. I joined Swinton and Pendlebury Leisure Centre along with two other colleagues. We had been going to Pure Gym which we loved but when we moved site we joined here. We attended about 20 morning fitness classes and out of the 5 different instructors only one of them delivered half decent classes. For the majority of classes the instructor would just put on a Les Mills Track and leave you to it. Very little encouragement and almost no joining in of instructors apart from one. When comparing the 20 classes we attended to a single fitness class at Pure Gym there is no competition. After only 6 weeks all 3 of us have since left and returned to Pure Gym. Completely disappointed and given this experience none of us would ever go here again.

Positive experience: Great gym and sports hall, it doesn't seem to be packed out like PureGym. The changing rooms and pool could do with a renovation

Fantastic experience: I have been going to the gym in Swinton since February it was to get in a bit of shape for my holidays in may. I am still going now ( November) because of the encouragement of all the staff who have been really friendly to me . Thank you Swinton .

Positive experience: Gym is a bit overcrowded but has all the equipment you could want. Staff are lovely and although there are long queues of people at peak times asking questions about swimming lessons etc the reception staff are always helpful and tab you in. Gym staff always helpful if any issues. And classes are amazing with great instructors. Only downside is there are so many kids in there at peak times but it is a community gym so to be expected.

Negative experience: Js very bad the staff (old blond woman with glasses ) very rude

Positive experience: Gym is untidy, equipment left on the floor most items mixed up. It's easy for none members to walk ‍♀️ in unchallenged and use the facilities, youths are a nuisance vaping in changing rooms playing in the showers Please sort it, reported nothing done.

Fantastic experience: Only ever used the swimming pool which we think is great. The staff are friendly. Changing rooms are only small but we've never had an issue getting a shower or a cubicle. There is a gym, fitness classes, badminton courts and they host bouncy castle parties.

Negative experience: On a day when there is no public swimming only swimming lessons for children taking place I took my daughter into the male changing room as she is 7 years old so under the age limit for changing in opposite gender, we was confronted with a full grown naked man in the changing room during a time when there are no adults swimming and so should not be using the facilities, when I raised my concerns with the 4 staff members behind the counter all was dismisive and made excuses as to why it was fine that a grown man was exposing himself to children. I was told the old man that goes in there is half blind, has dementia and is no danger to children, I told them that their safeguarding is a joke. I went to my partner to tell her what had happened when one the staff approached to tell me he was wrong it wasn't the man he thought and he didn't know who or why that man was in there but that it's a male changing room so I shouldn't be in there with a girl, I explained the policy of the center who works at and asked if he has any safeguard training and why he feels it's OK for the man to expose himself to children so long as they are all male.... He stormed off in a huff mumbling on with himself with no justifying reason for a man exposing him self to children other than "what do you want me to do stand on the door" great attitude towards protecting children in a publicly funding building. Please don't allow your children to attend the site without an adult at all times as the staff have and will fail in all aspects of safe guarding.

Negative experience: Pool cold changing rooms not good no privacy . Salfords growing population needs more facilities across the board. Not a criticism just an observation.

Negative experience: Changing rooms always filthy. Hate having to use them, got to be carful what you touch.

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience. First time attending for the pool. The place is clean, the pool is large and clean. One thing I disliked, narrow lockers, which is quite alright, next time I’ll take a narrower swimming bag. The locker keys are designed perfectly. They don’t scratch you. We really enjoyed our time.

Negative experience: My husband took our grandson and they both came home shivering there was no heating on in the pool is this standard for this time of year? It's far too cold for children. Can you please address this problem

Negative experience: The receptionist in swinton leisure centre was the most useless receptionist I have ever come across. Asking about swimming for my son she contradicted everything I was told on the phone. She only give 1 word answers with the exception of one where I asked her about the swimming schedule to which her response was she had turned off the computer so couldn't check (this was 3pm so nowhere near closing). On top of this while I was standing there waiting for her to acknowledge I was there she was saying to her colleague she had a fever - not very responsible for staff in a leisure centre full of children.

Fantastic experience: Great facilities everywhere to use and friendly people

Negative experience: This place is terrible A large amount of the staff are rude and ignorant and do not listen to you Avoid staff member Lea and two old women who work on the front reception : one is quite old ( mid 50s late 60s ) with a pony tale and wears glasses If you are thinking about going to the gym or take your child to swimming lessons please think otherwise as the teachers also leave mid session . Lea is a fat ginger man who is extremely rude to members in there . Overall I highly advice you to not go to this leisure centre

Fantastic experience: I went in the swimming pool this morning, lovely staff members, clean changing rooms, fully working showers and the pool was spotless. 5 stars from me.

Fantastic experience: Good

Negative experience: Anyone giving the swimming pool a good review must be visibly challenged. Dirty and disgusting. There is a thick seam of black mould right the way around the filthy showers. Salford Council - what are you playing at? Black mould is a serious health hazard. The poolside is filthy with used plasters and body hair etc. The ceiling above the pool looks as though it is about to cave in. It's stained and full of holes. The water is never warm enough. The changing rooms are dirty, smelly and cold. The staff? Hmmm. Go elsewhere.

Positive experience: Once again, Salford Leisure staff left their customer service skills at home. They got asked a straightforward question, that did not warrant the attitude accompanying the answer.

Negative experience: Not good no changing rooms for swimming plus only 2 lanes open for lane swimming .

Fantastic experience: Great staff, clean environment, great gym

Negative experience: I went swimming here. The water tasted salty. The floor poolside and in the changing rooms is disgustingly filthy. There is a build up of black dust around the edges. There was a collection of used plasters at the edge of the pool. The toilet facilities were also in desperate need of cleaning. Good points were the free hairdryers and powerful warm showers.

Fantastic experience: My youngest has swimming lessons here with Helen, same teacher as my eldest 14 years ago. She is just brilliant with the kids. Definitely recommend

Fantastic experience: I recently bought a monthly leisure pass and it's one of the best things I've done in ages. I've been suffering with lower back pain and the classes I'm attending are helping me with good posture, stretching and flexing. I attend body balance, yoga and pliates and honestly think these classes should be prescribed. The positive social and physical element is so beneficial. The gym is big and has everything you need and the pool offers a range of sessions and classes. The staff are lovely and there's a real community feel about the place. My only regret is that I didn't get my pass sooner.

Positive experience: It's good enough and convenient but a bit cramped. more expensive than some of the more modern bigger gyms and if one opens in the area it could struggle. Free weight area is under stocked and not a lot of space

Negative experience: Don't join this gym, signed up for a year but was not informed I would have to pay for a further 2 months after I cancelled. I had to pay another 60 plus pounds for nothing.
