Breckland Leisure Centre & Waterworld

Fantastic experience: Had a fab fun time with our 22 month old grandson. Pool was warm ( unlike Hunstanton where he shivers). He loved the waves and bring able to wander more independently. The small pool was very good too. Plenty of space to learn to swim. Unfortunately he wanted to go down the slide but wasn't allowed to go down on someone's lap. Plenty of changing rooms (unisex cubicles) and a few family cubicles too.

Negative experience: Miserable and unwelcoming reception staff- not at all friendly when you ask anything and expect you to just know when they change things like which entrance to use for swimming lessons instead of actually politely explaining the change. If it wasn't for the lovely swimming instructor my son has for swimming I would take him somewhere else.

Negative experience: Worst leisure centre ever, total scam. They charging us lots of money for a miss payment. My husband has been trying to cancel it twice because we live too far and it doesn’t work for us to travel there anymore. The welcome email I got from them says “You have the right to cancel your direct debit at any time.” And they have taken £40 last month for two memberships and now they are trying to do it again. We are so furious, never going back there ever and I don’t recommend anyone to do it, find somewhere else to go. The changing rooms always stink like urine, it’s disgusting, there is no hygiene in this place. We now have a membership in a different place and we are much happier with them.

Positive experience: Two selfish receptionists wedging the doors open including the automatic doors because they were warm despite being told it was very cold in the swimming pools complex, there's only one door between the reception and the swimming pools and it was freezing in yer swim suits with the little ones shivering in the changing rooms and pool area, the water was also cooler than usual. The changing room floors were unusually dirty, I noted alot of the adults ignoring the rule to remove outdoor shoes, so walking on dirty floors in the cold. Great shame as it's the reason we travel from Bury with the little ones, as the pool/changing rooms/is usually warmer and cleaner than Bury St Edmunds pool.

Fantastic experience: We always have a great time here. Easy to book in for family swimming and so many options like a shallow pool, wave pool, and a slide.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic pools a choice of 3 pools...my wife and son had a great time swimming in the teaching pool while my son had fun on the flume and waves also. A must visit for any family its a very fun place with friendly staff.

Positive experience: Visited Waterworld today - the pools and the leasure pool were all nice, staff were polite and helpful, entrance fee is reasonable, but the floors in the changing area were disgusting and look like they're been like that for a while. Surely you this could be improved Breakland Leisure Centre and Waterworld, without a great deal of expense?

Fantastic experience: The gym is excellent

Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed our first family swim here and didn't expect to have as much fun as we did! The wave pool had us laughing, and the additional little bubble and water features were ace for our little one to be fascinated by. Reasonable cost each and worth it. We had one of the members of staff to take photos of us and our little one swimming and the cost of them were 2 for £10, or 3 for £12. A little steep but to do it once is okay.

Negative experience: Went there yesterday for the first time with kids for the swimming pool, the young lady at the front pointed us the wrong direction, we were wandering and couldn't find our way for a while wich stressed me out a lot. When I came and told her she didn't see it fit to apologise, instead she laughed and said she meant the gates. Becouse of this my whole experience was awful as I struggle with mental illness. A kinder and more understanding staff would be appreciated.

Negative experience: Visited during summer holidays, 2:15pm. The changing rooms were filthy. The toilets were absolutely vile. Perhaps hire more staff / cleaners during the school holidays for extra cleaning. The “hot tub” is filled with rust… pretty grim.

Fantastic experience: I don’t use all the facilities but I do go spin! I love it…the class is friendly and trainer is a killer, although super lovely! I would definitely recommend for anyone to give it a go, you get so much more than just gym membership.

Fantastic experience: Great pool .plenty of lockers.great that there are hairdryers only thing not so good are cunicled showers the shower only runs a bit at a time you gave to keep pushing it in to get water out.

Positive experience: Overall the pools seemed very very busy on a Saturday. Waves come in the medium pool around every 15 minutes, weirdly split in the middle (I had mistakenly thought it was a lazy river). The slide is excellent

Fantastic experience: We quite like this place. 10p and £1 lockers which give your money back at the end. Unisex changing and disabled loos, and some pool assist wheeled chair. Baby pool, adult swim pool, splash zone for babies, a slide, a jacuzzi and a free car park! Goggles towels swimsuits and float aids for sale if you forget and vending machine for drinks! Two juniors e.g. age 15 swim session for 1.5 hours £10. Only down side is there’s no longer a cafe since pandemic.

Fantastic experience: I loved the swimming pool I love the waves pool the kiddie pool was nice and hot for the children and it was a relatively nice slide they have but the Time limit was a bit sad

Negative experience: I’m trying to speak with With the manager Andy nearly 2 weeks trying to speak with the manager, Andy, the reception refusing to give my number to the manager. Maybe manager doesn’t want to speak with me I don’t know one of them too Absolutely wasting time you can explain Yourself very bad stuff They treating customers horrible they have to more training specially reception site and rest of the staff us well My boy been for swimming lesson almost 45 weeks and he can’t past the stage teacher doesn’t give him any points. Weeks and weeks It’s absolutely wasting your money and time stuff doesn’t care about the customer service ask for the manager stuff always saying managers not here that manager deserve this money if it’s not manager there Who controlled this branch has no control? that’s why stuff can do what they like? Stuff doesn’t allow me to speak, maybe manages Andy there who knows that? This reception needs completely change reception stuff Definitely not recommended this place just wasting the money and time..

Negative experience: I have been coming to the centre for swimming with my children since they were babies way back in 2016. Recently I took the decision to move their swimming lessons elsewhere. One of my children who is 5 has been stagnant in progress for over 3 months in stage 2. He is done crash courses and is himself very water confident, however he has not had the same swimming instructor consistently for weeks (more precisely since end of July). Every week is someone different, no assessments made for my child and its a bit of a free for all in some lessons to be honest. There is supposedly a lesson plan, but I personally did not see it as every week whichever instructor is there covering decides what to do. In such a situation there is no rapport built with the children as the instructor does not get to know them or their ability to assess them properly. How can a child not progress a single percent in over 3 months? it does not say a lot for the quality of the lesson does it? I know for a fact I'm not the only parent who feels this way. When I complained about it I was told to give it the benefit of the doubt as things would change. I did and nothing did change. There are some great instructors also no doubt about it, however all their hard work is undone by others lack of ability and quality. There are too many children per lesson also and that means the instructors can not always give the same attention to everyone. Cleanliness in the changing rooms also leaves a lot to be desired, particularly at the weekend. After weighing it all in I decided to move my kids elsewhere and I can say that as it is now I will not recommend the centre for swimming lessons to anyone I know or personal friends until some serious changes are done.

Negative experience: Pool absolutely freezing, kids blue with chattering teeth, most got out early. I found staff pretty rude, receptionist didn’t give any eye contact, spoken to like an inconvenience. Shouted at by a life guard when I dipped my toe in a pool about 30 seconds before our time slot (yes I am an adult), because I was so cold waiting. The pool itself was ok, wave machine and (I think) a lazy river. There were too many people in there to tell properly if it was a lazy river. Reasonable price if it was actually warm. Overall disappointing, won’t be hurrying back. It is a shame, a couple of degrees warmer and friendly staff would have made us consider membership.

Positive experience: Went to a craft fair at this venue which was great but didn't use any of the leisure facilties

Negative experience: The lessons for the kids are great but the smell of piss in the changing rooms is unbearable. Seems like the cleaning lady needs some training.

Negative experience: Don’t follow lane swim rules allow users free for all and don’t require swimmers to tell you they have invented a local agreement I swam there in november 2018 I drive further to mildenhall and swim there nearly every day without being hit by other swimmers

Fantastic experience: Once again for bowls to see if the noise was a one off but no i will assume the centre does not want the bowls in there so will join Wymondham bowls club who i know are good club to join

Positive experience: You must book to swim. We didn't and had to go away and then return a couple of hours later. Children loved the wave machine and slide.

Positive experience: Nice enough swimming pool - ample parking. Booked into a 90min slot for swimming. Disappointing to be ordered out of the main pool c15 mins prior to the end of the session. Kids enjoyed the wave pool. Vending machines were expensive and slow, and took money without giving goods. Changing rooms could have been cleaner.

Positive experience: Travelled from kings Lynn today to have fun ,,but quite upset with the experience,,spa pool very dirty with grit/sand and god knows what and not working,,main wave pool very dirty tiles near the slide area and I'm talking about the tiles in the pool ,,also the changing rooms could do with a good clean ..... Use to be so clean and a fantastic experience,,and it can be again it just needs a good deep clean

Negative experience: Lovley pool for the whole family, 5 stars for that. Unfortunately my day was ruined by a rude receptionist. Was constantly interrupted and ignored.

Positive experience: They sell things like Googles swimming costumes etc Yet don't give out change for people to use a locker where's the logic in that

Negative experience: The changing rooms are now quite tired, and on our last visit were quite dirty, with no apparent staff overseeing them or brushing away the excess water on the floor. The female toilet was in a similar state. The wave pool is always fun for the kids and well attended by vigilant guards, but the water had several 'bits' of what I hoped looked like float/pool noodle floating around it as well as strands of hair that kept getting caught in my hands.... Must admit, this is the first time I've had an unpleasant visit, but it has put me off returning anytime soon.

Negative experience: Absolutely sick to death each week being told to leave the main pool 30 minutes early!?! We all pay to use the facilities, and for the children to not only play in the ‘fun’ pool, but to do lengths and continue to improve on their stamina training too!! The staff are so incapable and almost afraid to interact when asked questions. They have no idea who is in authority. If there is an issue in the pool, disruption, the younger staff are afraid to address and just stand at the edge, but a little closer to the person causing the issue!? I asked if my children could go in the ‘slow’ pace lane to do lengths, and the boy said no, they could not!? Just utterly ridiculous! If it wasn’t for the waves and little flume, we would not come at all really really let down. We just want it to all be fair fir the patrons using the pool.

Positive experience: Swimming pool is ok, very nice place to relax with kids. The changing room is sometimes not clean. Regarding to the gym, it is nicely equipped but is not maintained.

Negative experience: Dangerous too crowded nice pool though Grumpy reception extremely dopey We wanted a swim but they turned us around straight away and sat fully booked all day!!! Not good enough the pool was half full and they couldn’t fit 3 more people in the pool Ridiculous!!!!

Fantastic experience: First time using this pool. Had a great time with my partner and 5 year old. Great to have the choice of the wave pool and extra space to swim in the bigger pool. Water slide was designed well so littler ones (above 1m only) don't plunge into a deep pool at the end. Also, nice to have 90mins in there rather than the usual 60mins at our local pool. We will be back.

Positive experience: Brilliant pool but a shame about the grumpy receptionist and not being able to pay with cash. Live spaces on the pool sessions are apparently not live I was told. Was scolded for not booking online, as I wanted to pay with cash, even though there were plenty of spaces. Could of just been greeted happily and take my payment without making a big deal out of it.

Fantastic experience: I had a puncture on my mobility scooter and a couple of staff members pumped it up so I could get home. They went above and beyond x

Negative experience: One time entry costs £8.5 and you need to pay £21 more for "introduction" how to use machines for "safety reasons". And it really doesn't matter if I visited other gyms and I'm working out every day. I don't recommend it at all

Negative experience: Absolutely shocking leisure centre. If you are thinking of booking your children in for swimming lessons here, don't! They left my 4 year old in the water sobbing, alone, on his very first time in the water on his own. It also appeared that several classes were cancelled without parents being informed due to no teachers being available to teach. Complete shambles, do not give this leisure centre any of your money!!

Fantastic experience: Great price for family to swim, approx. $20 pounds for family family 4 for an hour an half. Clean. Several lifeguards which is good. Friendly front service member. Lockerooms good, one pound for a large locker. Fun for kids.

Negative experience: Still a horrific place with outdated sign up policies compared to the other gym in Thetford. Sadly Parkwood Leisure hasn’t changed or improved since I was last a member a good few years ago. Best advice is if your looking for Gym use only then a quick Google search will show you a far better one in the town centre. Sadly I will continue to avoid Breckland Leisure and the parent company Parkwood as it’s just not worth the hassle. Nothings changed. Staff are great company is terrible and needs dissolving or at least their shoddy business practices to stop.

Fantastic experience: My daughter loved the slide. The waves was great fun for both my children. Will go back again. Fully recommend. So great for young babies also as they have their separate pool. Gotta book well in advance though, the only sticking point for me

Negative experience: Unfortunately, the facilties were dirty, not checked properly, even if signed off.. No sign of a staff member cleaning in the 3hrs we was onsite... Not the first time this has been commented on.. Shame as pool is great for the children....
