Negative experience: We bought £119.99 voucher for two for spa day. It included 45 mins of three treatment by Elemis and lunch . The treatment was actually for 25 minutes despite being on time and none of the Elemis products were used . The lunch had an option of soup or jacket potato or poached eggs . I didn't find it worth the money .

Negative experience: I was given a groupon voucher for a Signature Spa Day 25 min Treatment Standard. It was awful! The pool was very busy as was the jacuzzi. All the seats around the pool were taken. I attempted to sit in the jacuzzi but it was so hot I couldn't go in. The relaxation room was full and the food in the cafe was expensive and left a lot to be desired. The treatment I had was less than 20 minutes. I arrived ready to go but the masseuse still insisted she would wait outside the room for 5 mins even though I told her I was ready before she left the room. I was so disappointed with the whole experience especially as it had been a birthday gift. I would suggest people don't waste their money buying a Spa Day here and instead go to a local leisure centre for a much better experience. I wont be visiting a Bannatyne club again

Positive experience: First time here and greeted by receptionist who was very helpful. She showed us where the pool, treatment rooms and cafe were. It was a little strange to go upstairs to changing rooms and then down to the pool. We arrived just after water activity finished so there was plenty room to swim. The jacuzzi was a decent size too. Cafe for lunch with specials and decent choice including health bars for the serious fitness people. We upgraded to extra time for our treatments. Back massage, mini facial and foot massage. I would definitely recommend it.

Fantastic experience: Whilst on holiday my wife and I took the opportunity to have a spa day, it was in a word Superb!! From the friendliness and efficiency of the welcome, the well kitted, clean facilities our day started wonderfully. We made good use of the jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and pool before enjoying a really nice light lunch in the cafe. Mid afternoon we went for our treatments and both my wife and I agreed they were the best we’d ever had. I was looked after by Milly who has hands from which pure magic is felt and my wife by Tegan. Both therapists were so friendly, totally professional and really had as at ease. If we get the opportunity to visit again we will definitely request their services and highly recommend them and the whole spa it was fantastic thank you so much

Positive experience: As we were staying over we visited this place two days running. Yesterday we had our couples treatments which were amazing. The ladies were lovely and made us feel so at ease and the treatments were by far the best we have EVER had. We also visited the cafe there yesterday and today for breakfast. On both occasions it took forever to be served and again on both occasions it was by the most rudest waitress who based on my experience should not be in a customer service role. The food was fairly average supermarket cafe style but it’s a fair price for what you get.

Positive experience: We had a voucher for spa and treatments. Our treatments good, slightly odd at times. It felt as though my beauty therapist was distracted by something and would randomly slow down and stop with 1 hand then start back up again. It was a bit strange. We paid the £10 each for our robes and flip flops, but there were no flip flops and the robe was too small. I wish I had had the confidence to say something about the robe, however it was still a bit rubbish to pay £10 for just a robe even if it fit. I don't think that this bannatyne spa can be used as a place to relax and have a "spa day" because after you have had the treatment there is nothing else to do other than to sit in the cafe. Quite a disappointing experience, and to top it off we had to walk around in a small robe in our own shoes thankfully I had crocs on anyway, but my fella was in his trainers with his robe on

Negative experience: I visited this ‘spa’ yesterday and I thought we had actually walked into the incorrect place, so much so my partner walked out and said those words. The treatments we had and the professionalism of the woman was amazing and without fault. However I paid for a treatment each and use of the spa facilities as well as lunch. The spa was not at all a spa, there were just 4 loungers (all taken by empty towels) you could not get into the one small hot tub due to how crowded it was. And most importantly and the reason we did not entertain staying there was due to the fact, child swimming classes were going on whilst your there as a couple, child free with the intention & expectation to relax. The area is so small, you either had a choice of standing or sitting on a seat beside a parent who was there accompanying their child learning to swim. All the while unsure were to look because the children were in front of you & the noise made any conversation between you impossible. I would have never booked to go if I was aware this was the case, when I brought this to the attention of reception I was asked had I not received a curtsey call, which I had not, and there is nothing stating anywhere that the ‘spa’ has children’s swimming classes. And the dinner! I was further confused, the woman who served us her attitude was appalling, to the point of uncomfortable, and it was like been sat in a school dining hall, the food was on par with such. We went to the facility as a treat, on a rare occasion that we did not have our child. I left feeling like I had spent over £100 to go to our local leisure centre and in honesty we might as well have taken our son with us. We have been to spas for the same price and they were actual spas. I would never recommend or be revisiting and had I of received a call informing me there were swimming lessons on and children shouting running around, my lunch would be in an uncomfortable school canteen setting with a choice of two items (jacket potato or soup) and a hot beverage (which I do not drink) I have just never experienced anything like it, I could have gone to my local salon had a back massage & came home for a fraction of the cost and felt more relaxed then I did from that experience yesterday.

Positive experience: We visited for my birthday yesterday we paid £165 for treatment and facility access. Our treatments were outstanding and there girls were so lovely and very professional. The facility area however was a let down…there were only 4 loungers meaning we didn’t get to sit down once as it was so busy, we couldn’t fit in the jacuzzi and there was children’s swimming lessons throughout the full time. For a spa experience it wasn't very relaxing and made us want to leave as soon as possible as we couldn’t even sit down. It felt uncomfortable as there were lots of children and parents and the atmosphere just didn’t fit what we paid for and expected. We travelled to Durham as it was a special occasion however, we won’t be returning after this experience unfortunately!

Negative experience: Lady on reception was miserable, couldn't get served in cafe waited ages in the morning. Got lunch at 12-55 when treatments were at 1-15. Treatments too short, lost 5 mins at start then at end getting changed. Ladies doing treatment's were very nice, although one was coughing while doing my back.

Positive experience: TREATMENTS WERE GREAT .... SPA DAY HORRIBLE ...NEVER AGAIN ...... Joanne in the spa did my treatments during my spa day. 5 star Therapist ... I had a back neck and shoulder massage and the ELEMIS pro-Glow facial. iv had plenty of facials and this was the best one iv ever had. very relaxing and my skin feels amazing. after the treatment Joanne talked me through my whole treatment she'd done including all products used and recommendations for keeping my skin nice. she showed me to the relaxation room where I relaxed for another hour. BAD POINTS ..... This was a SPA DAY GIFT however, I was not showed anything despite saying I'd never been for a spa day there before. (i had treatments once but that was very different) I was given a very fast instruction of were the stairs were to the change rooms. i had no clue of anything else, this set the anxiety going and so I felt very awkward and out of my comfort zone a lovely member pointed me to the pool area thankfully . but I didn't have a clue were to put towel and robe to use the jacuzzi/steam room etc there was no signs of anywhere obvious. so I didn't use them, I sat on a chair near the pool before just finding my way back to the cafe to await my spa treatments.. . staff in the Spa really need to be more aware they work in a spa and not slam doors shout to each other etc. my therapist apologised during the treatment for her loud colleagues.

Negative experience: My first visit and I'm very disappointed. It reminds me of a council gym type quality. The sauna and steam is nice, but that's it, even though it could be better. The gym is basic and like I said lt reminds me of a council gym. Being a Bannatynes gym, I expected better quality, especially for what you pay.

Joanne Mclernon 1 year ago

Positive experience: It’s a nice clean gym, equipment is repaired quickly and the staff are friendly. My only negative is the steam room and saunas. I like to relax in the steam room and sauna but it’s often full of men talking too loudly and using inappropriate language… it’s The exact opposite of peaceful. I wish the sauna and steam room were classified as quiet zones. I actually think most people would prefer that, even those that are talking loudly. It would give us all a reason to just stop and relax and switch off.

Positive experience: Rather small spa facilities wise and gets quite busy, at least on weekends.

Dominika Cudak 1 year ago

Positive experience: I've been at this health club twice now, unfortunately the business is quite disorganized, the cafe staff especially don't seem to know about prior bookings and aren't very welcoming, one lady commented on our order as "odd". The spa staff are nice and well trained but again rather disorganized as to people treatments and we did not get the treatments we had booked. It's a nice day out but it's not a "relaxing experience". I would go again maybe in a year or so to see if it improves.

Ryan Brake 1 year ago

Positive experience: I stayed here with my partner a few weeks ago and sadly wasn't very impressed at all. Like other Bannatyne venues, it feels like it hasn't been updated or renovated in a long time. Even the key cards to get into the room were old and worn, meaning we weren't able to get into our room on several occasions (this was only a one night stay). The room itself had a comfortable bed. However, any metal finishes in the bathroom were grimy, and the shower drain took ages to let water through, which can only mean it was clogged up. The spa facility itself was okay. It's not amazing, but not terrible, either. The staff were very friendly and the ladies that worked in the restaurant were nice. The food was totally fine at the price point so no complaints there. Overall I would not recommend anyone use this place. Unless maybe you are on a business trip and the company isn't paying. I usually try to keep my reviews positive but very little i can say positive about my stay here.

Elaine F 2 years ago

Negative experience: Very poor standard. A basic health centre. Food is by Starbucks and we had a salad where the cutlery was wrapped in a napkin with blood on from where the server had cut her hand. Accidents happen but surely basic health standards should be followed. Only four beds around the pool and the cost for two people with two treatments was £149.00. Not a good experience.

Jude Robinson 2 years ago

Positive experience: Didnt use spa, hotel only. Basic but clean, read room specs first to avoid disappointment, ie, no fridge, iron tv, not smart tv unless pay for superior. No restaurant in hotel it is in the spa, at other side of car park, take a brolly!! Staff nice enough, room clean but curly black hairs in the bed even though sheets looked and smelt clean, and a greesy hand print on the headboard, i got a good deal on the room so good value, wouldnt stop me going again if i wanted a cheap stop over and was easy to get to and find

Negative experience: The place has pros and cons, but for me the cons are too much to ignore. I had a membership for around a week and then had to cancel unfortunately. Pros: The membership is very well priced, and it’s the most affordable spa type location in the area in my opinion. They have a sauna, pool, water spa and steam room. Squash courts and loads of classes (I think the squash membership is extra) but that’s a nice touch, and there’s plenty for everyone including great yoga classes and new tech to keep the sessions fun. Staff I found are friendly and approachable, always happy to help. (excluding the older gent who cleans the changing rooms etc, he was rather rude and interrupted my friend mid conversation sarcastically) Anyway… Cons: The sauna and steam room are always slightly too cold. The sauna sits at around 75 degrees most of the time, and never increases to the more optimum sauna temp of around 80-90 degrees like my current gym The facilities are genuinely older than me. I heard from another member that he went with his parents as a child (he’s in his 30s) and the changing room hasn’t changed a bit, and you can tell. The gym equipment is also ancient, and the pool area has this awful looking black mold looking grouting around the bottom of the sauna area The general slap dash approach to some of the fittings. In my opinion, when you’re paying what to a lot of people is a substantial amount of money, you could always expect the plumbing to work. The showers and water fountain have been fitted around the sauna, so good luck ever getting them cold, the warm water fountain was pretty much unuseable. And TIP you have to use the left hand shower if you want it cold after the sauna, the right one won’t get to that level of cold (a tip one of the other members told me, he said “you need to know the little tricks”) The food. Oh my the food. Have you ever eaten at a kids play centre? That kind of food that’s served on a paper plate and cooked in the microwave? It was that level of bad, and not worth the price charged in any way shape or form. The relaxation room is a lovely touch, with the warm stone beds where you can lay by the salt lamp and listen to the meditation music playing… until you hear the mad bass of the fitness classes next door shake the room, you couldn’t make it up. It always seems to be busy too. If you come in the day, you are around the children, if you come in the evening… it’s peak. The lack of gym equipment. Finally I think the thing that meant it’s just not a viable option for me. If you’re serious about working out, how can a gym this busy only have one squat rack? The free weights area is tiny. Three benches, a squat rack and smith machine, some barbel benches (one flat and one incline), some cables and that’s pretty much all I remember, then you have the machines and copious cardio area clogging up the gym. So in general, there are positives and negatives, and I think most of the cons could be sorted with a bit of money put into the centre for an update. But it’s a 4/10 for me, and not a viable option.

Fantastic experience: Used this hotel when we visited Durham Miners Gala 2023. Our room was huge, very clean and comfortable bed. Susan the member of staff was amazing. There is a 24 hour bar with plenty of choice. We used the spa, but the water was cold. We didn’t eat in the cafe so I can’t comment. It’s a one and a half mile walk into Durham, but there is a bus service. It’s super easy to find, just off the Durham turnoff, m1. Would throughly recommend and we have booked in again next year.

On arrival we were greeted by a lovely chap called Rich and made us feel very welcome and explain how to use the facilities there. Would definitely recommend using this place and would 100% come back. Thanks again! Chris & Katie.

Positive experience: Facilities 100% bed 100% staff 50% ( I had to go looking for the staff when I arrived for like 15 mins. I could have literally poured myself 2 pints and the wouldn’t have even known.) food is horrendous you gotta walk to the spa to grab something to eat and OMG it’s like eating the back end throw out food from Tesco. Go and eat somewhere else don’t even attempt to eat here.

Positive experience: Had a lovely relaxing day at the spa today, enjoyed our massage, the staff were friendly, positive atmosphere and the scones we had for lunch were tasty. Arlene Rae-Hewitt 2 years ago

Negative experience: Everything to be honest it's stay only, bar at the actual hotel only has cider or wine, ask for two beds and your still side by side as if in a double bed and cant seperate due to unit around the bed, matress topper moves constantly and beds werent made very well at all, sheet all folded up and coming off the bed. Stayed with my older auntie. Can order food from the spa across the car park and eat in your room but no facilities to be able to eat in your room, a room upgrade constituted as a room almost identical just without the damp patch still no way to eat in the room as advertised. spa facilities are totally separate even though its not advertised as such. We were told use of pool was included then charged extra for it. Offered slippers and robes to use(after payment) but it wasn't slippers it was flip flops and the robes were one size fits all(providing you were size 12 or under) and were not repsonded to well when we asked for a bigger one, yet next day we saw some bigger people with ones that fit no problem. Some staff were lovely(especially the ones giving yreatments) but some really weren't at all. Food was abysmal over at the spa itself, badly over cooked or just several days old, bacon like leather, black pudding like rock, nann bread tough and chewy, hot chooclate vile and a large is not a large at all especially using star bucks name theres are much bigger. Smoothie was tiny for the price! Water out freely at the spa but the second day we were there it was the day before water until after lunch time. This should be emptied when you close at night and refill first thing! Refresh throughout the day as well! Cutlery was dirty, chairs uncomfortable and just all round awful. Nachos had obviously put them in somewhere to melt top layer of cheese for the look as the cheese underneath was completely unmelted and salad with mozzarella sticks consisted of a slither of lettuce. Sit and wait in the dining room before ur treatment where everyone comes and goes etc, the chairs were all wrecked and wasn't appealing at all then walk through main lobby to get your treatment where everyone is including kids families etc coming and going not a real spa at all and can't call it a hotel or a bed and breakfast it's a place to sleep that isn't comfy at all, cushions are awful as is the bed

Positive experience: Lovely relaxing time. Only thing I fidnt like is a lot of to and fro to the amenities. Relaxing massage from a lovely girl who was very reassuring, I felt very vomforyable and she did a fantastic body scrub and head massage. Afterwards we had to go back past reception to get to the quiet room. Felt the space between revived us and would have been better if room was closer to treatment room Never the less, a lovely experience. Thank you

Fantastic experience: My wife and I had a Spa day at Bannatynes in Durham on Wednesday 26th April. First class experience. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Our massages were relaxing and invigorating. The staff there were professional and a credit to the company.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing experience and a lovely day my only downfall would be with being a bikini competitor I was told I wasn't allowed to eat my food in the cafe /restaurant which I understand however thankyou to the staff member who changed that and understood. Bought lots of hot drinks and my friend bought food which she said was lovely! Will definitely be back as the food looked amazing and was full of friendly helpful staff. Treatments were amazing too and used the gym

Negative experience: You won't relax here It's not a spa - it's like a council gym Dirty and old fashioned Best thing is the parking

Negative experience: Booked a massage deal. When we arrived we were informed the pool was closed. Massage was booked for 10 they got us at 10.10. Massage was meant to be 40 mins however we wernt aware that's with the consultation included so was more like 25 mins and we definately went in 4o mins. Facilities in the health spa very poor, not the cleanest. We spent 10 mins in the sauna then went. Would never return.

Fantastic experience: Loved every minute. Friendly, helpful staff, good facilities, a wonderful massage and all for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Joined this gym on Friday, and can honestly say the changing rooms are disgusting and dirty. The gym is also very very tired and needs a total over haul. Pure gym which is half the money is in better condition and of course clean...... A total joke and have emailed to cancel my membership after only joining Friday

Fantastic experience: I can not fault this hotel at all! Was everything I expected, clean, tidy, kitted out with everything that's needed and the main part that absolutely impressed me was the gentleman that was on reception, he was an absolute diamond, nothing was too much bother for him, very kind, polite and helpful, would definitely recommend

Positive experience: Pros: The treatments are great The staff are lovely and faultless Cons: Can hear people talking outside of treatment room Outdated and feels grubby Much nicer places elsewhere

Laura - Kate 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Lovely little spa, there is a steam room, sauna, whirl pool, a small pool and a beautiful relaxation room with heated stone beds. The cafe offers a wide range of meals however one of the guest has celiac and there are only two options available a toasty or a jacket potato. Could do with a few more options for dietary options. The spa itself is beautiful and offers a range of treatments. Staff are all friendly and helpful.

Positive experience: Nice venue, but a bit dated. Facilities are clean but can do with updating. The pool was more on the cold than warm side. There's a sauna and steam room as well as a jacuzzi. I treated my partner to a spa session here and the staff were very good. The relaxation room is nice however you can hear the "thumping" from the gym classes going on, so not sure it's all that relaxing. Food from the restaurant is good as well, but I ordered sausages not beef with my filled giant Yorkshire pud. Would have been 5 stars if not for this mishap and the hearing of the gym class in the relaxation room. Staff are very good, especially Rich!

Negative experience: Me and my wife was having a message in the same room and this was spoiled by the two girls who did our massage as you could hear them whispering, so wasn't very relaxing

Paula Humphreys 2 years ago

Negative experience: Would give zero stars if I could. Booked a spa break. Hotel was fantastic and the staff (particularly Colin) couldn't have made us feel more welcome. The health club however was the opposite. Arrived to Jenna on the desk who failed to explain how the day would work. In fact, she was really very dismissive, zero customer service skills, rude and absolutely clueless. We were asked to share a locker. No gowns provided. When we went back down and asked we were charged for them. When I challenged there was no response. She literally blanked me. Went back again with proof it was complimentary. No apology. Still no spa bag given. The food was terrible, the ice coffee was even worse. No loungers near the pool which was full of kids. No space to get in the jaccuzi, which apparently was tepid anyway, the sauna had a bubbling floor, members in the steam room said they usually travel to other clubs because it's so bad there. Relaxation room was at the other end of the building but we had to ask that as no one told us. If I hadn't seen it on the website I wouldn't have known it was there. It was so bad we left after an hour and didn't even stay for the treatments. Told the girls in the spa room we were leaving. Not one of them asked why. Asked for a refund for the gowns, was told the receipt would be emailed. It wasn't. Spoke to the manager who was certainly better than Jenna and admitted she needed more training even though she has worked there for 5 years. no resolution from him either though. Glad he at least apologised. Was told he would copy me in to an email thread between him and the spa manager but it never arrived either. Absolutely appalling. Dont waste your money. This is not a spa. If it looks too good to be true, it's because it is. Manager reminded me it is a budget spa break,I replied, that's doesn't mean the service should be! Genuinely the worst experience I've ever had anywhere. Will never EVER return! I'll be writing to head office as I feel I've been completely miss sold.

Negative experience: Like a local pub vibe but it's a spa. Outdated and old in need of serious refurbishment. Will be sending a complaint via email but wouldn't recommend for a spa day. Might be OK as a gym.

Fantastic experience: Excellent place, the facilities are fabulous. It was the first time me and my better half had visited. The young lady on the reception explaining everything, what to do and where to go etc was lovely, put us at ease. Amazing treatments for us both also. The cafe/bar area also excellent with a good menu. Would definitely recommend

Negative experience: I was turned away from a class this morning after being 5 mins late by an instructor called Joe because I missed the warm up. I had signed up online for the class and was late due to child care issues. His attitude was really abrupt and disrespectful. No apology. He just said his piece and turned his back disrespectfully. This policy is not clearly indicated in paper work. It states people need to turn up 5 minutes before class. I rarely see this occur and most other instructors let people join when they are late and are far kinder and more respectful. If rules are to be applied so harshly then they need to be applied consistently and made clearer in the gym policy documents.

Positive experience: I like the place but year after year they cut the services for the spa day. Charge for everything, even the towel is not free anymore. These days you can find better offers for a spa day.

Andrew Gaillard 2 years ago

Negative experience: I started a 3 month contact with this very expensive gym thinking the facilities and service would be exceptionally good. Boy was I wrong. After attending 10 sessions I decided to use the sauna downstairs. After the sauna I went for a cold shower. After setting the tap to cold I turned it on and out came boiling hot water, scolding my head, back, and arms. I let the gym know and they said they knew about the faulty temperature control and are working on it. There were no waring signs anywhere. I then said I was not happy with this and that I wanted to cancel my membership. They refused. Imagine that was a young child? I will now be taking them to court. I do not recommend. Go to a local community gym for a third of the price.

Positive experience: 1st visit to any spa, we were not made aware of robe hire which was £22 £10 refunded, also we couldnt book any further treatments as they were fully booked and never made aware that these had to be pre booked.Treatment was lovely but only lasted 30 minutes. I would go back now knowing these things and plan a bit better. I did check the website out and i can't say I seen anywhere about robe/towel hire or pre booking further treatments. Our facial was booked for 1115 and it didn't state anywhere we could arrive earlier and use the facilities, after having facials and advised not to get our faces wet the pool/sauna/steam room we a bit of a no go for us.

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible customer service bought a Groupon voucher £90.00 There was something wrong with the code and having trouble redeeming it with Banantyne at Durham were absolutely no help at all . Passed me from pillar to post couldn’t care about people or there hard earned cash. Never ever book this again and they did not sort the issue I had to claim a refund back. Useless incompetent unhelpful don’t deserve jobs

Negative experience: Like an old leisure centre, old beaten up facilities and a sub par cafe. Will not visit again.

snoo pooo 3 years ago

Negative experience: It's more of a leisure centre with some heated beds and treatment rooms than a luxury spa. Photos on website and woocher very miss leading. Food wasn't very good at all and overpriced. The treatments were good, and the girls who did them did them lovely. All in all. Don't bother save your money.

Laura Richardson 3 years ago

Negative experience: The hot beds in the post treatment room are fab and the girls doing treatments lovely but it's £6 nonrefundable to rent a robe and towel and my towel was dirty. The pool area is small and was unavailable due to an aquaarobics class they hadn't said was on. Theres little sitting room by the pool and the poolside facilities were overly busy

Rebecca Potter 3 years ago

Positive experience: Good facilities but the treatments could do with improvement. Lots of time waiting while they clean up around you at least 20 minutes of laying waiting during a 55 minute treatment time.

Nick Walsh 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: A wonderful and relaxing place to forget about the outside world! Relaxing massages are always put on promotion so well worth the money paid. Never used the gym, however the swimming facilities are good. The pool isn't big but it has never been too busy while I've been there. Also offers a sauna and hot tub which are a nice extra to let your hair down.

Positive experience: I came here for a mother's day gift for my mum, however someone double booked someone in the same room, so we had to choose another date to come back as we both work the next day we could do was in a months time, which wasn't too bad for us. But hopefully won't happen again. As my mum was looking forward to it . However I can't remember the ladies name who reassured us so much, and was so helpful in the spa bit, but she made our outing so much worth it the next time we came. With complementary prosecco and free use of the facilities and an 15 minute extra time on our facials. I was very impressed with how she handled the situation. I would definitely come here again. As I know it was a little misunderstanding from the new worker. Overall a great location and service.

Lewis Smith 3 years ago

Negative experience: Average at best. Bought a Spa package for £90 which included 55 mins of treatments for me and wife. We have a 7 month old child together so our backs were killing! Arrived around 1:30pm with treatments due at 2:15pm. Spent 40 mins in the relaxation room, which is always nice, but the waters been removed? Why? Anyway, went and waited for our treatments in the restaurant as instructed 5 mins before they were due. Waited until 2:20. No sign of any one so walked into the spa to ask. They told us to wait outside. No explanation. We waited until 2:23 when we were collected. Had a briefing and then told to take out robes off and lay on the bed. I don’t know how long they think this takes to remove a robe and lay down, or if I went into some sort of time warp, but we waited at least 10 mins. All in all our treatments were cut DRASTICALLY short from the staff running late further compounded by long waits when we were in. Added to the fact that the girl who done mine was clearly a trainee as the girl doing my wife’s kept instructing her what to do and I could hear them whispering. This just made me uncomfortable, underwhelmed and in no way relaxed. I left with pain in my neck still and unhappy. Furthermore, we’ve been coming to this spa around 2/3 times a year for 10 year and I’d say there have been no upgrades in that time and it’s starting to feel dated / tired. We’ve had a discussion and will be trying somewhere else for the first time next time we have a spa day. I’d recommend anyone reading this give Bannatyne a miss. Used to be pretty good, but we had a really poor experience this time round and it’s slowly been getting worse for a while now.

Negative experience: We paid £75 for 2 45 min treatments and spa access. By the time the woman had asked all the questions needed we only got 30 minutes of the massage. They were lovely and the massage were great just a shame we didn’t get full 45 minutes. We were greeted with a happy face from the receptionist which made us feel welcoming and she explained when we would be seen to. We also paid for afternoon tea which was a disappointment, frozen mini eclairs and dry carrot cakes. Sandwiches were; ham&cheese, grated cheese&pickle, tuna (no Mayo or very little) and an egg and Mayo. When we first went into the food area, reminded me of a hospital canteen and the woman actually walked away from serving us then was very blunt and unfriendly.

Capastian Luna 3 years ago

Negative experience: Never tried the health club yet, don't base this review around that, its a nice building and friendly staff. The 2 stars however are for it being easy to access, downside is the PIP assessments and how they use ATOS a military contractor, using tactics to scam those with disabilities in losing their PIP just so they can score extras with the company. Would give them minus stars, just too bad they hide behind a business that's got nothing to do with PIP claims, shame!

Positive experience: Firstly I would like to thank Colin on the desk at the hotel who without any problem changed our room as there were a few issues with the cleanliness of the first room. I have only given this a 3 due to the catalogue of errors created by a particular member of staff on the reception of the health club, which caused no end of problems with my stay here, resulting in only having one decent treatment during my stay, as opposed to the 3 booked. This staff member created the incorrect email address on the system and gave verbally wrong times, booking in overlapping times of treatment and fitness session. Due to wrong email, therefore no confirmation sent to me, which could have then avoided the whole problem. My daughters bought me this 3 day treat for Mother’s Day, so very unfortunate. Also 4 beds in the pool area when 50 people in the pool, really not acceptable. I would have thought Banatynes would have done better. However I did appreciate the actual one facial treatment whilst here, which was divine thank you.
