Positive experience: Plenty of facilities for all

Negative experience: Avoid this gym if you have any kind of disability....the customer service is disgusting ...spoke to call centre several times and they are not willing to help in any way ...front desk lady was just rude and questioned why I parked my car in a disabled spot ...becuase it doesn't look like a disability car

Negative experience: Shambolic admin/accounts dept; read all the reviews on Trust Pilot and you'll get the picture. I gave the Stadium gym 5 weeks notice that I was leaving, this is more than the minimum required. After my final direct debit came out of my bank account, I cancelled the DD because I knew there would be no more payments required. This final DD entitled me to use the gym for a further 4 weeks. When I arrived at the gym this week, they refused me entry. When I challenged the customer service dept over this, they said it was because I had cancelled my DD! I said, 'of course I have, it's not required and you won't be taking out any more direct debits. I have a right to use the gym for 4 weeks after my final monthly payment.' I sent a complaint email to KAL, but the response was the same; completely unwilling to be flexible and unable to acknowledge that I had the right to use the gym for a further 4 weeks because I had paid for it! I have paid £30 to use this gym for the final 4 weeks of my membership and they have refused me access, surely this is illegal isn't it??

Negative experience: These lot are proper scam.they shut Dewsbury sport centre in all of sudden,which is the only one has spa , even though they shut down immediately as well as they still took the payment of me fir the upcoming month ,so I decided to use the KAL stadium which hit an alternative spa facility.however I surprisingly got refused at the door to enter as I have to pay plus for my membership to use this KAL CENTRE.bear in mind they is no spa in any other places apart from this. So I got kicked out without even thinking they shut other place so at least considering the travelling and all ….proper waste of time

Fantastic experience: Take my 5 year old swimming here The teacher he has is amazing he is so good with the children has masses of enthusiasm and is a great teacher and my son loves coming!

Fantastic experience: The gym and pool are so clean and it is really well equipped. It can be intimidating going in to a gym but I felt welcome straightaway thanks to the staff.

Positive experience: A nice gym that has a lot to offer! The studio is huge with a variety of fitness equipment and machines to workout. Free parking on site which is a big perk compared to the other kirklees leisure centre which always charges before 6pm. Staff are friendly and the building is much more ventilated and cleaner. Worth the extra charge on the contract!

Positive experience: KAL Stadium Health and Fitness offers a 25m pool, but scheduling a swim is difficult due to short public swim times and overcrowding with kids. The gym has good equipment, but it's too small for busy periods. The sauna and steam room are small and the jacuzzi lacks proper bubbling. Overall, it's decent but has limitations.

Positive experience: Not sure if the person who designed the gym has ever used a gym themselves. The lighting in the weights area is quite dim, making it difficult to differentiate between the all black weight plates. There are now some small green and red stickers on the 20 and 25kg plates, but it can still take a while to find the plate you want. The sauna area and swimming facilities are good, and swimming is available throughout the day.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilty that is part of the KAL recreational services. There is a 25m swimming pool with adjustable depth and a divider that can be raised or lowered to configure the pool for different applications. A large jym with saunas and a studio for exercise classes completes the facilities. Facilities can be used on a pay as you go basis or through membership. Parking is free in the adjacent car parks. The staff are friendly and helpfull. Full membership gives access to all the facilities and a separate changing area.

Negative experience: Customer service was horrendous also very impolite and rude staff very ignorant and have to pay nearly double the price as the other Kal gyms and is half the gym in my opinion the equipment was not clean can only come in at set times which is very inconvenient

Negative experience: Rabish area. My daughter is inappropriately touched by other boys while she had a swimming lesson, the instructor didn’t even realised and wasn’t bothered! the scoring is not fair. I do NOT recommend it.

Negative experience: As other people have commented, KAL's contact centre is below par - completely wasting my time (and theirs) dodging the question (or failing to read the query properly to begin with) and sending copy-pasted responses telling you to refer back to their website - as if someone who goes to the trouble of emailing the contact centre hasn't already done that? They might as well save money and use a chat bot. I'm sure this centre is good but can't comment as I'm still trying to get a membership.

Negative experience: Strangely missed a payment by a 3 days and it's been sent to a debt collection agency and a massive fine added on top. Do not sign a contract with these scummy

Fantastic experience: Just come off the phone to customer service. Spoken to the lovely Yasmin who was really helpful. I'm now looking forward to visiting the site next week when Huddersfield football team are not playing at home. Thanks Yasmin

Negative experience: All I wanted was to know about swimming. Arrived by bicycle, nowhere obvious near the entrance to lock it up. Wheeled it inside to ask about swimming costs and membership. I couldn't have been less welcome. Told I needed to buy monthly plus membership to use all facilities. Eventually told there was a flexible card for swimming only but might as well buy full gym membership because it's cheaper. Told all the information was on the website... why tell me to look at the website when I'm actually visiting for information? Website less than helpful, not easy to navigate, not easy to find what I wanted to know... eventually came to the conclusion that cycling to this place to swim defines me as not the customer type they're looking for. Discovered there is cycle parking, beyond the high fencing surrounding the car park: four decaying bike lockers that each need your own lock: three were in use and one was broken. Will not be returning.

Positive experience: Went to watch my granddaughter swim so didn't experience much. Staff seemed friendly and my granddaughter likes it.

Negative experience: Actually I joined the club for my son for swimming lesson. he was very excited for his first ever swimming lesson but when we were at swimming site he was very scared and didnt want to go for swimming even after I changed him with his swim set. I saw the staffs including swimming trainers and life guards looking at me and my innocent five years old son to whom I was trying to convince to go for his lesson. At the end we returned without having a lesson. I spoke at the reception on that very first day to cancel my membership, Receptionist provided me the phone number to cancel my membership then when I call on that provided number I was asked to come through online system or email as they cant cancel via phone, untill I email them they charged me for one and half month. I am very dissapointed to see they didnt understand it and said it's in our term and condition. How can I be ready to pay when you never served me and help me ?

Negative experience: Nice gym and staff inside. The call centre is absolutely appauling, Nikki Batley is an unproffesional and a rasict, a lady called Joanne works there who is probably the most rudest call centre advisor I have ever met.

Negative experience: Was disappointed over festive period swimming pool closed and spa area not even opening after 4.30pm like advertised due to short staff gym stayed open but spa area closed early at 1pm to wasn't the best as you know xmas and new years day it closed which is normal but even rang and took pictures of time to confirm opening time of gym swimming and spa and sauna still out been like 3 months and bubbles on jacuzzi were out for a long time only started working again this Wednesday after so long excuse is part waiting but with jacuzzi if they left bubbles on without reverting it to press switch every 5 min wouldn't of been no problem caused by themselves but part waiting excuse makes me laugh where it coming from Mars lol. With all this we still have to pay full price 35 pound a month with no discount offered as you pay full price for facilities to be functional and this 2pm to half 4 for cleaning is ridiculous as I would love to go after work when I'm done at 2pm I understand stuff needs cleaning due to covid but could it not be done in morning 10am or at 12 and 2 half hours for cleaning is a joke they're exploiting covid as excuse and I've been in morning seen bottles then been in afternoon and same bottle still there so 2 half hours for what shut off steam room and jacuzzi and was only last month it occured to them to put a bin back and the clock always need batteries lol when it not working luckily I have my watch

Fantastic experience: Christmas swim deals... Warm water ( I was told that due to this being a children's training pool, it is warmer than the others!) Good showers Just not sure where the artic wind comes from in the changing rooms. But overall... This is a great place for a 'normal swimming pool'. I don't want slides etc, just to teach the kids to swim...

Negative experience: A total waste of our time. After paying for parking for 3 hours we were told that swimming was booked out and turned us away. The frustrating thing is we tried to book and call via the KAL platforms and OMG what a chaotic mess. Poor communication and ability for us to not waste our time.

Negative experience: Very confusing student membership, I provided evidence I was a student to them and they said it was not good enough and I required a number of different forms of evidence, which where impossible to obtain within there time frame. They had already signed me into a 12 month subscription, as a student and told me they would change it to normal rate if I could not provide the evidence. Overall the gym is overpriced, the sign up process is over complicated and confusing, and the staff misled me in information I was required to provide. I’m very unhappy had to cancel my membership within a day of signing up. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.

Positive experience: Swimming lessons here can be good, but we have found over the years they try to fit more classes into the pool at the same time and more kids per class in these smaller classes which isn't great, also some of the teachers are much better than others unfortunately. Although with all of that said, my daughter enjoys the lessons and has done very well there.

Positive experience: Great value and variety of classes but am disappointed that covid is currently being used as a reason for KAL and centres being uncontactable by telephone. Trying to find out if my lost property has been retained, no helpful response by email and phone lines are closed. Surely going to the centre just to check is higher risk than a phone call? And if I go, will there be staff on hand given I won't be able to get in past the card controlled gate unless I have booked a class or gym session??

Fantastic experience: Hi Have just had my Moderna booster vaccine this time , everyone is monitored after the injection for 15minutes. Staff are friendly and advice is to let your arm flop to the side before they inject. So far so good. Long leaflet given for you to read and take away...

Negative experience: No members changing rooms, faulty lockers and got sprayed with a hose pipe when I was in my cubicle getting dressed.

There also needs to be a stadium only membership as no one is ever going to use all 11 gyms waste of money and expensive.Awful student prices an all compared to other newer gyms with better and more equipment. Also receptionist staff rude. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: By far the best gym in the area. Always clean and tidy. Vending machines take card which is a bonus when the cafe closes. Plenty of class options to suit everyone's need. I usually go swimming and I havent got a bad thing to say.

Positive experience: Been going many years and have enjoyed most of that time but feel recently, stadium specifically, that things are getting sloppy, the classes and equipment available are top notch, can't argue with the friendliness of all the staff and the encouragement they give but the place can be dirty. I cant give a five star when simple towelling off of machines after use is not enforced, allowing swimmers to drop dry all the way from the pools to changing rooms leaving changining room floors covered sometimes completely in water and muddy foot prints during winter. Make people carry towels around or have more wipes around handy for those that forget. I've avoided equipment after seeing people dripping sweat on it then just walking off. Sort that out and it's well worth the fees for membership.

Fantastic experience: Meets most needs and is a clean n tidy environment.

Negative experience: I have been member of this fitness club for years, poorly maintained equipment poorly maintained, screens of all fitness .machines are old their streaming in not working, it became boring going to this club unless they fix this problem. You have to have your own music or video don't rely on them. Very poor signals with most of mobile operators together with lack of wifi make it difficult to stream your own music while using the machines.

Fantastic experience: Clean great facilities only down side is when football is on there is no parking for the loyal paying gym members we are forgotten about
