Negative experience: After a few months, I cancelled my membership to this gym. If you're employed and work 9 till 5, 5 days a week - don't even bother looking at the classes. The majority of the classes are scheduled during the day, so unless you're unemployed, work part time or are retired, you won't be able to attend the classes that YOU'RE PAYING FOR. The classes you can actually attend are generally very good, just a shame you only gear them towards those are free during the day. The swimming pool is a joke, they have three lanes (slow, medium and fast). The slow and medium lanes are filled with older people who want to walk up and down the length of the pool. So if you do want to swim, you'll have to go in the fast lane, where you could be getting in other people's way or you'll be playing "dodge the walkers" in the medium lane. Clearly, there's a demand for slower-paced swimming so the gym should accommodate them and provide an extra session, instead of expecting those who actually want to swim to be held up. The gym itself is mediocre. There is a range of equipment, some it is broken and the some people won't bother to wipe down the equipment after using it. Besides all of the above, the gym staff are fantastic and always very helpful. But Freedom Leisure/North Northants Council clearly don't have any interest in listening to their customers. The gym seems incredibly geared towards towards people who don't work 9 till 5 everyday and you'll be paying a lot of money for classes that you won't be able to attend.

Negative experience: Swim time table seems to not accommodate for anyone who works an actual job.

Positive experience: A bit outdated but pool is amazing value for money. Sauna and steam room a much appreciated bonus!

Fantastic experience: staff are very lovely and patient, only go here for the gym but I think It's a nice place to spend evenings and early afternoons, though I avoid it from 6-8pm because there is people everywhere, which is not the company's fault at all and my own problem (skill issue). people here are not bothered by others and it is indeed admirable, everyone is good at minding their business.. I will shout out the nene centre when I am winning gold medal at the Olympics

Negative experience: Went for one hour swim at a cost of £10 for two, the water was so cold we left after 1/2 hour. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

Negative experience: I have only ever use this facility for my daughter's swimming lessons so I'm unable to comment on other aspects. The automatic entrance door has been broken for months which is annoying but reception staff have been mostly friendly and helpful in my experience. The swimming lessons however are poor, they appear to have a business model of progressing the pupils as slowly as possible in order to maximise income which has been utterly infuriating! My eldest daughter learnt elsewhere which was much better.

Negative experience: The pool and changing rooms are just too cold. My children's lips went blue. It cost us £20 for a 1 hour swim for a family of 4. We would travel further next time for a warmer pool.

Positive experience: I've only used the centre for the pool and I have always been satisfied with that facility, the temperature is good and the staff are friendly. Unfortunately the changing facilities do need to be improved with a number of cubicles having no working locks and one recently had a door missing and a shower curtain was put up in its place. A number of times I've been into a changing cubicle and found wet mud on the floor where people have worn their muddy shoes in - There are signs up about this, but people don't seem to pay attention ‍♂️

Fantastic experience: Facilities need repairs. Front doors haven't closed automatically for months . The staff, however, are excellent.

Negative experience: It’s probably one of the worst fitness centres I have used. The pool is never open and the gym equipment is always out of order. The whole place is filthy. Classes get cancelled all the time. Very disappointed

Negative experience: Presentation of the facities has certainly gone downhill in recent months. Broken entrance doors, not safe with young children. Changing rooms are awful with 3 of the cubicles with no doors on. Staff are not approachable with complaints ref swimming classes on a Saturday, despite increasing swimming lesson fees. Needs tidying up to make it a nice place to go.

Fantastic experience: Took my son and his friend to the 'Open' swim. Rang and booked and paid in advance because I wasn't sure how busy it would be. It wasn't overcrowded. Lovely clean facilities and friendly staff.

Could do with a little maintenance with tiles coming away from the pool wall and needs new showers with the ability to get the right water temp. Otherwise a nice leisure centre in thrapston, clean and also has a Costa cafe inside. Free parking

Fantastic experience: Affordable clean and friendly. The Saunas and steam room are dated but work fine. Though replacing the wooden decking in some areas of the sauna would be preferable. I'm guessing there is no budget in place to do this yet. If you had a tiled steam room there would be more seating available.

Positive experience: Just visiting and needed a local gym, cheap for a day pass and really helpful staff. Equipment is varied and definitely sufficient. Would recommend. Do Costa Coffee too

Negative experience: This Gym is a disgrace on all levels and the people who have supported it all the way back since it opened frankly deserve better. Make no mistake this at one time was a top,top leisure centre.However it’s deterioration is something quite sad. Walk into a shower cubicle and you are more likely to find masses of other peoples body hair than you are a working shower.Out of the 5 hair dryers available only 1 works and that has been the case for well over a month now. No blue roll to wipe down machines after use seems to be a staff favourite even though there is a highly transmittable virus ripping its way through the world outside. Open up the lockers and there is no improvements with obvious months and months of grubby stains lining the inner walls. Fancy using the steam room?,well you can look forward to seeing peoples body oil trails running down the white plastic chairs which again has been the case for quite some weeks. Rude staff will tell you that you are there at the wrong time even though you have looked online and followed the timetable that has been put up by the gym itself that day. All staff seem to have a different time table in mind each day,so even when you ask for the chance to be shown “the correct” timetable,no such thing exists. All this topped of by the constant groaning that the place is understaffed,yet it is very common to walk in and find 4 or 5 members of staff at a time sat behind the reception desk talking or members of staff using the very gym equipment that paying customers struggle to clean down.A complete lack of supply’s and interest is obvious through out the entire facility.

Positive experience: Nice entrance, small shopping place for pool, a bit expensive for my taste, received a message like 3 months free, but for all year have to pay £ 351 including those 3 months free, all one time, no direct debit available. Not see inside, but chloride smell it's present, don't think that'll resist to much. More details when I'll go inside

Fantastic experience: Nene Centre Drive-through Covid testing in the car park for a PCR test only, we didn't go into the centre itself. This was our first Drive-through test. All explained well and though the whole process , booking through to test itself, feels very bureaucracy heavy that is understandable in the circumstances. Volunteers and staff on duty excellent! Thanks to everyone on duty today!!

Positive experience: As a community resource the Nene Centre is absolutely invaluable, providing essential, beneficial access to participation in physical activity, promoting mental and bodily health. There are numerous classes from yoga to aquafit, accessible for people of all levels. The staff are, for the most part, friendly and helpful, the management are particularly efficient. The instructors are great at leading the classes. The one criticism I have is that it is beginning to get a little rundown. The pool is missing tiles, leaving mortar grit on the floor of the pool, also the sauna and steam rooms are not really hot enough to provide max benefit. That said, with a little TLC it will be the perfect community focal point.

Fantastic experience: Took kids to family session during the school holidays, enough changing rooms for the amount of people during the session. All areas were clean, showers warm, free hairdryers, staff friendly & helpful. Plenty of parking.

Fantastic experience: My 2 years old daughter loves the little pool which has a slide and water feature in. There are fun toys on the walls too. Definitely recommend. Swimming lessons are great fun too!

Negative experience: run down facilities, front automated door broken for months so have to manually slide glass open and closed, tiles broken in pool, toilets blocked frequently, generally grubby pool. disappointing facility since freedom took over and seemingly invested Nothing in the centre..... happy to raise fees regularly but no noticeable return..... and don't even get me started on the low progress swimming lessons designed to maximise fees at the expense of your child's progress. #oundle pool is a short drive away and what a difference

Negative experience: The swimming instructors are fab! All of the staff seem friendly and helpful. An absolute credit to the company. Unfortunately we have just cancelled our children's swimming lessons here as they have dropped the pool temperature (no doubt to cost cut). It is far too cold for a small 4 year old with waiting around, our 7 year old who has swam since a baby has said he won't swim there again because it felt awful. A real shame as our children have both done so well here. The building seems to be running down, the automatic doors at entrance have been broken for at least a month. Lots of parking on site. Cafe on site which is OK but a bit over priced for snacks.

Positive experience: Why did you come back to putting music in the morning adult swim? Not everyone likes to feel like going clubbing when going to the pool! I have complaint before and management has taken action but seems that it’s back again. Really hard to concentrate and focus on improving technic with music blasting. Could you define at least a time for quiet adult swimming? So I avoid the irritating intrusive music. Also the mans toilet in the pool area has been out of service for over 2 months. It would be a 5 start review otherwise.

Fantastic experience: Superb and well appointed facility offering swimming, full gym and classes for all age groups. Run by the local council so the prices are really cheap, and it's a nice modern building, with ample parking or an easy walk from Thrapston town.

Fantastic experience: We were looking about for a center that we could swim at and decided on Nene Valley, as they had adult swim sessions on some evenings. Good size pool with 2 lanes for fast swimmers and the rest left open for us slow ones, you also get to use the sauna and steam rooms, showers are ok and the staff are great. The swim team look after the pool and changing area very well.

Positive experience: Pool has seen better days, is small and the changing facilities overcrowded. All in all the centre is clean and tidy but in need of a refurb.

Positive experience: Very nice staff and great facility, BUT... the water in the pool is way too warm for lap swimming. I am a visitor from Australia, staying in Oundle and wanted to do some morning laps. It was like climbing into a warm bath and I was quickly red in the face and uncomfortable. Talking to the other swimmers, everyone had the same opinion. I actually drove all the way to Corby instead the next day to get the right water temp for lap swimming. Please correct this guys as otherwise you have a terrific facility and also, unlike most in the UK, have coffee available before 8 am for when your customers finish their early morning workout

Positive experience: Perfect for children's swimming lesson, the only downsides for me is having to reuse shoe covers that have have been used before and limited sitting spaces for parents , it OK for 30mins but if you are there for an hour like I do you will need to sit down at some point
