Negative experience: Terrible smell in changing rooms for pool

Positive experience: Went to a dogshow there last Saturday. I'm glad we got there early as parking not that great. The venue was ok considering the age of the building.

Fantastic experience: Friendly and welcoming staff. Great facilities which continue to improve.

Negative experience: Phoned in advance on the same day to confirm pool opening times. Was told the times available to the public. Came along at the time specified only to be told the pool had classes on. Don't understand how that can happen.

Negative experience: They've installed these awful white noise speakers outside for loitering teenagers, me and my partner are 25 and the noise was horrendous, won't be coming back to this ageist leisure centre until they're taken down.

Negative experience: Horrible, miserable reception staff and miserable lifeguards. For so many of the staff to be seemingly so unhappy I can only assume this isn't a very good place to work or the manager is upsetting the staff. Not a great impression for the public. Will not return.

Negative experience: This was my first time visiting the leisure centre, first I called them a few days in advance and the woman I spoke to was rude and unhelpful. I turned up for the swim tots session (which is for preschoolers) with my baby. There were two female staff members on the reception desk and neither were friendly or helpful. I paid and asked where I was going, the woman without even looking up from the computer said 'through those doors' which was not at all helpful but I found my own way. The pools are lovely however in the splash pool the jets were turned up really high so you couldn't really take your baby in there as the water was blasting from every direction really hard. I'm pretty sure they can turn it down as they did when it was time for us to get out. Considering there were only babies in the session this would have been helpful. The lifeguards around the pool are not particularly happy/friendly and after 45mins one barked 'times up' at us. If you read the timetable the swim tots sessions are advertised as being an hour long however they are just 45 minutes!! When we got out the vents in the changing room were pumping out freezing cold air meaning my baby cried the entire time we were getting changed. Im sorry but I wouldn't recommend going if you have a baby, maybe pop over to Aberdare as I've heard the pool there is good for babies.

Positive experience: Gym not expensive the membership for the person cost around 30 £ for the whole month which is wicked. Gym got 2 rooms one for cardio unfortunately missing punch bag there is a place in the corner on the matts that is why I'm giving only 4 hopefully this will change in future. The second room it's for heavy lifting. Gym don't seems to be so busy, my guess is that more people will attend to Gym in afternoon hours. Currently the swimming pool it's under renovation, staff it's helpull, also there is no WiFi that could be used which is a shame in 21 century the data from mobile phone work usually fine but on some days the signal it's horrible which is weird as that is quiet big town maybe becouse its in the valley.

Negative experience: Filthy dirty, rude staff.

Negative experience: The centre was lovely for the event we attended, however the receptionist who “greeted” us wasn’t very welcoming at all. No smile, no greeting, just barked directions at me and my daughter after we waited for some kind of acknowledgement from her. I appreciate she was on the phone at the time, but a smile, a raise of the hand to signal you’ll be with us as soon as possible would have been appreciated. My first time visiting the centre and I strongly advise this member of staff works on her customer services.

Positive experience: Karate tournament, hundreds of people and all they had was bacon or sausage baps. No variety, no sandwiches... no marked prices ... ladies were struggling to work out how much I had to pay ... Nice sports venue

Negative experience: Cyfarthfa "just up the road" is a different story, but the service here is abysmal. 3 times in a row we've sat out here because the "tills are updating". Service is shocking

Positive experience: It was freezing cold while sitting waiting for my booster jab. The staff were so happy and helpful despite being frozen solid. I was so cold that I had to stop at McDonald's to have hot food and a hot drink before continuing my journey home.

Fantastic experience: Recently had my coronavirus test there only took around half hour to wait and have the test done..really helpful staff there and a very big thank you to all involved

Negative experience: TL;DR: If you are thinking of joining this gym, don’t bother. I joined a year ago and pre-Covid, there were numerous problems. 4 treadmills were out of service, the TV use on the machines was broken and several bins were dotted around to catch the water leaking from either the roof or the air conditioning. The steam room was also out of service and the changing rooms were mixed (none of this was explained to me prior to signing up). A month later, they shut the pool without notice. I had to fight to get a reduction in gym payments as I’d signed up for the full package. I was told that Aberfan was my nearest pool and it was reasonable to expect me to travel there for swimming. Post-Covid, it’s only become worse. You cannot use the toilets, changing rooms or lockers. The nearest loo is by reception. Gym visits are strictly by pre-booking and the last session is 6:15pm. The opening times have been reduced (no idea why) so the early morning/evening sessions are no longer available. This has made it very difficult to find time to attend if you have a job. There are supposed to be wipes available to clean the machines after use. On several occasions this hasn’t been the case and I’ve had to waste 10 minutes of my fixed hour to find someone to replace them. As staffing is so poor, there usually isn’t anyone available. On one occasion a spray bottle was left out that was only to be used whilst wearing gloves. Today was the last straw with yet another long closure and no notice, I am cancelling my membership.
