Life Leisure Hazel Grove: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Brilliant gym with friendly staff. Very nice thermal suite too.
Fantastic experience: Life Leisure at Hazel Grove facilities are really good and the monthly cost is a lot lower than other Gyms plus you have use of all the facilities highly recommended
Negative experience: Don't seem to know how to answer the phone on 4 different occasions across 2 weeks
Fantastic experience: Excellent
Positive experience: Gets so hot when waiting for child's class to finish. Also strong smell of drains persists in the air. Not pleasant
Fantastic experience: New user of the gym. Equipment by far exceeded my expectations. Friendly staff upon arrival nice and clean. Have tried other non life leisure gyms in Stockport and the hazel grove site is by far the best I have used
Positive experience: 1st time visit today, used the pool. The changing area is nice and seems clean. The pool is a fun sized 25m, would recommend
Fantastic experience: Lunch time adult swim is from 12.15 when pool is divided into slow, medium and fast lanes. It's usually a case of follow the one in front in anti clockwise direction to stop bumping into people. It was a bit busy + some like to natter with each other but it was fun!
Fantastic experience: Very friendly nothing to much truble
Fantastic experience: Clean , modern, and not too busy to get a good swim in when the lanes are down
Fantastic experience: Just joined, incredibly welcoming.. to me and my dog!! What an absolute gem. So far tried yoga with Andy and Tai Chi with Rob.. the staff and other people in class are lovely! Really good instruction and fun. Thank you so much. Can't wait to try the pilates next x
Positive experience: Sunday mornings aren't too busy, nice balance of lane swimming, general family swimmers and ladies who need to catch a breath every length (me) I go around 10ish and it smells clean and is really relaxing.
Negative experience: Good gym but their 3 month membership trial is a scam, they will only accept a 30 day cancellation after the 3 month period and you're still on the hook allegedly for the final month so its actually 5 months you'll end up paying for or 2 more months than you want to. Bad business practice and false advertising. Beware.
Negative experience: stuck up manager and unreasable demands the manager is abuses his power and shouts at kids without a explanation why he did just overall bad gym wouldn’t come here if it wasn’t close
Fantastic experience: Best Pound for pound gym in the area or nearby. Really helpful staff, is always clean and tidy and the members are a great bunch as well and keep the community functioning. The renovationa have improved a great facility even further. Really miss working out and swimming there
Negative experience: Feels like it's run at the staffs inconvenience rather than the customers convenience. 45 minute swim times for families is near pointless. Pools half empty but swim times reduced all for the same price as longer sessions elsewhere in Stockport. Instead of traveling half a mile to here I will travel the extra miles to go to Cheadle.
Negative experience: Been closed for months went on Saturday for a family swim, changing rooms don't look like theyve been cleaned since the close.
Positive experience: The Gym needs to have TV screens like there other LL Gyms to distract from the torture of exercise
Negative experience: Rang twice just to ask a simple query, such a long winded pre amble advertising promo I had to endure, then was cut off! Really poor
Fantastic experience: The facilities here are excellent and the staff are always helpful and friendly. The pool is a decent size, and lifeguards are always at hand in case of emergencies. The only complaint I have is that sometimes the pool temperature can be a little on the cool side. There is also a suana and steam room for something a little more relaxing. Upstairs, there is a well equipped gym, weights room, and additional exercise hall. However, the gym gets especially busy between 4-7 pm on most weekdays. In case of cardiac emergencies, there is a defibrillator in the main reception.
Positive experience: Just joined as a member after casual use, very friendly and helpful staff
Fantastic experience: We came here for our daughters first swimming lesson. Westarted at swim tots with Scott, which was great and a hit with our 3yo. Hopefully, it will be the beginning of a lifelong love of swimming. Very clean, pool lovely and warm and easy free parking.
Fantastic experience: Good size gym for everyone with pool
Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed my first lane swim since last summer. Also very pleased I was able to book in so easily, with lots of availability, I've given up trying to get in to New Mills, thankyou.
Fantastic experience: Nice gym with pool and thermal room. My new gym for 2023
Fantastic experience: Clean gym and Very friendly staff
Negative experience: Small gym with limited equipment. Opening hours are average. Overpriced for what it is. Pretty boring gym in general. Cleanliness is okay. Staff okay. Parking can be bad. Good aspects are that the changing rooms are nice and there are some large windows in the gym which creat a nice vibe. Better options in the area such as x train and my gym to name a few. Theres loads of gyms/pt studios in hazel grove. LifeLeisure doesn't offer much.
Positive experience: Overall a good gym, clean, no issues with parking, the staff are nice and has a good booking system that was developed during the pandemic. The downside is that the gym is a bit small leaving a limited space for equipment. Most of the treadmills tv systems don’t really work. In general good value for money and they do give NHS discount.
Fantastic experience: I've only been to life leisure at Hazel Grove for swimming lessons (2 to be exact) but I'm already having a great experience. I initially emailed to enquire about lessons and joined a waiting list, I only had to wait 2 days and was able to register for lessons starting a few days later. I've had a really poor experience in the past with swimming lessons and quit after 1 lesson, so I was really anxious about starting again. Staff on reception were really friendly and reassuring whilst directing me where to go. I've been given a small barcode key card to scan at the barriers. Changing rooms were clean, there are lockers that take a £1 coin (returned at the end) or a token. Our lessons are being taught by Kev who I already feel at ease around. Such a huge contrast to my previous experience. Kev is in the water with you, he adapts what he's teaching for your level, he's been reassuring especially for anyone lacking confidence or who is afraid of the water. We were give pool noodles and a float and just practiced blowing bubbles and moving on my first week. Kev also explains the movement and demonstrates which is so helpful. Class size is really small, I've only been twice so far but there haven't been more than 4 people yet. Really recommend coming here if you're considering learning. I'm looking forward to continuing lessons.
Negative experience: Good evening, I dropped my son and his three friends off to enjoy the inflatables this. Saturday afternoon, they were refused entry by an agitated manager, she stated that she was sick of kicking my son and his friends out every Monday “the paperwork is too much” for the record, my son goes to Air Cadets on a Monday and his friends have only been there once before, on a Tuesday. Terrible attitude, maybe if they were girls they would have been allowed in, as their two girl friends who walked in five minutes earlier, were allowed entry. Small minded manager. Not all teenage boys misbehave. I suggest you sign your managers up to an inclusion course. I’ve asked for recorded incidents of my son misbehaving, Again, stating a Monday night!!! My son is well mannered, and well brought up, I feel that the immature attitude of your manager is the complete opposite of what you as a company, are trying to promote.. swimming, exercise etc. I look forward to your response and evidence that my son and his friends were that disruptive that they weren’t allowed to do something that you promote so avidly. Regards Mr P A McKeever.
Fantastic experience: Plenty of onsite parking Well staffed at the reception desk for any questions Gym is clean as is the relaxation areas Room for improvement in the class timetable: spinning and other popular classes book up quick! It's like booking Glastonbury tickets every week: you got to be quick! Not a complete fault on the gyms side as room for class space is limited. Edit: have upgraded from 4* to 5* given that it's had a really nice refit and staff are great ! Proud (and lucky) to have this gym in close proximity.
Fantastic experience: Look forward to going every day, more than a gym and pool, I have a great bunch of friends there.
Fantastic experience: Great place to get fit again after heart attack Staff helpful and friendly and working on circuit training programe.
Fantastic experience: Helped out at a swimming club gala and facilities very good & great to see annual events back underway.
Positive experience: Was a nice place, not too packed and plenty of changing rooms, i'd say the only thing that lets it down is the carpark!
Positive experience: Good facilities but in need of some maintenance especially the changing rooms and showers need some TLC
Fantastic experience: No idea on quality of the place. My wife works there and was just dropping her off for her shift!
Fantastic experience: Google asked me how was Life Leisure, I don't know because I didn't go there.
Negative experience: Not had the best swim today! The floor was filthy, the pool very busy and loud with children jumping and screaming. Dead flies in the small pool. Honestly not great and don’t think I’ll be returning.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant baby splash in warm pool (pool could of been a bit warmer though) but Scott is an excellent teacher with the babies and it's always brilliantly structured and a friendly atmosphere highly recommended. Babies there from around 4 months or 6 ? To 2 years. Excellent place.
Negative experience: Today's water was Baltic the inflatable was in the wrong place the staff were rude couldn't hear music too cold to go on the inflatable and foam boards baby pool was also cold the thermal suite was stinking of wee n fish utterly ridiculous and the temperature ️ in thermal suite was cold aswell very disappointed with this session
Fantastic experience: Good value for money! Friendly Staff
Fantastic experience: My son has one to one swimming lessons with Scott here and it's great. Scott is a brilliant instructor and my son has made progress very quickly with him. The facility is well maintained and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
Positive experience: I just love the place. Great staff. Nice friendly clients
Fantastic experience: Zack enjoyed his swimming lesson.
Positive experience: Good spacious and maintained place. Good staff assistance.
Fantastic experience: Son has swimming lessons here. The small pool is a lovely warm temperature, the big pool is fine once you start swimming. Plenty of free parking.
Positive experience: Well run centre with gym, pool and thermal suite. Readily accessible with on site parking and bike shed. At July 2021 you need to book online. At March 2022 you no longer need to book.
Fantastic experience: No problems. Easy to book classes on line. We'll organised and clean.
Fantastic experience: Nice swim
Fantastic experience: Swimming lanes really wide to enable safe and easy swimming. Staff are friendly and helpful. Clean and hygienic..all you could ask for in these Corona days.
Positive experience: Shark disabilities swim group are great .they work here on Wednesdays. I think the back car park needs better lighting.swimming pool is spot on
Fantastic experience: Very organised, one way in and another out. Clean and well spaced out.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, just joined. Had a tour and introduction, the staff were so friendly and helpful, answering all questions competently and confidently. Did my first class today, which I thoroughly enjoyed and it felt covid-safe. Hoping the thermal suite will be able to reopen soon, as it looks fabulous!
Positive experience: First time to gym after lockdown felt safe plenty of cleaning products And sanetizer enjoyed it thank you
Fantastic experience: Great leisure comple. Staff are very friendly. Its clean and tidy, pool changing rooms can be a little cold in winter. Dont forget your £1 for your locker! Great childrens swimming lessons.
Fantastic experience: Lovely place this, pleasant staff . The pool is spotless, crystal clear. Amazing health suite. Absolutely top notch.
Fantastic experience: Good sized pool and gym. Polite staff. Car park is an absolute mess with potholes all over.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly & helpful staff, great facilities including fitness suite, thermal suite, swimming pools and member changing area. Recommended!
Negative experience: You will never find such incompetent staff anywhere in the world!!!
Negative experience: Check out the 24 hour gyms which are better equipped and just pay as you go for the pool if you need to. Just avoid a contract with these people. Membership finance team are atrocious. After years of loyalty and I had a very bad experience - hence one star.
Fantastic experience: service at reception is quick, lockers easy to use. Pool is very clean and staff are very helpful:)
Positive experience: Xz
Negative experience: Staff were friendly and welcoming. However I would not recommend to train here. The gym equipment is outdated, the quality of furnishing, hygiene and conditions of the rooms needs improving. Would consider this venue to be overpriced for the monthly membership on offer. Would therefore instead recommend Grand Central, Stockport.
Negative experience: No smiles no hello from the staff.
Fantastic experience: It is amazing
Negative experience: If you want a free swim go along any weekday evening between 4 and 7. All you need is a child and you won't be challenged. This is because that's when the swimming lessons are on. Your meant to pay and get a wrist band but they never check if you have one or not. As a member I find this situation really annoying but if the staff are so unprofessional and lax in their duties and the management don't deal with complaints so who wouldn't take advantage.
Fantastic experience: Great family friendly atmosphere. Superb studio for group classes and the fanciest sauna/ steam room in the area.
Negative experience: Fab gym BUT Parking is absolutely abysmal. Extend your parking area!
Positive experience: Great local gym that does everything and has everything you need. Can't fault it.
Positive experience: parking is terrible. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good equipment and the place is kept clean. Showers are very hot and have been for the last 12 months. Too hot for me and my 5 yr old.. I have mentioned it twice and asked for feedback via email however, the showers are still scorching and no feedback received.
Positive experience: Great gym and nice staff.
Positive experience: Modern facilities good pool. Clean
Fantastic experience: Great atmosphere and good facilities
Fantastic experience: Never had a problem with parking All the latest gym equipment Nice warm pool, sauna, steam room Friendly place all round
Positive experience: Years since i've been here was good then and still is , everything working and as it's should be more to the point open on a Sunday afternoon !
Negative experience: Parking is horrendous
Fantastic experience: Nice gym and pool. Worth a visit if you are local.
Positive experience: Poor facilities
Fantastic experience: Swimming lessons here are top.
