Halo Brockworth Sports Centre, located in Gloucester, offers a variety of amenities that appeal to families and fitness enthusiasts alike. Many visitors have praised the clean and well-maintained swimming pool, which is popular among families for swimming sessions. The centre also hosts skating events on Saturdays, providing a fun and interactive atmosphere where adults can join for free.
Users appreciate the helpful and friendly staff, especially during special events like birthday parties, where the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. Numerous reviews highlight the hygienic facilities, although some suggest improvements are needed in the changing rooms and gym equipment.
While the centre features excellent offerings, including kids' swimming lessons and various group fitness classes, some users have expressed the need for extended swimming session times and a more varied class schedule to better accommodate different preferences. Additionally, access to the centre can be a bit challenging at times due to security measures in place.
Despite these concerns, many enjoy the overall atmosphere and find the centre a great community spot for exercise and leisure. If you're looking for a welcoming sports facility with various activities, Halo Brockworth Sports Centre is definitely worth a visit!
Halo Brockworth Sports Centre: Opinions
Positive experience: Good swimming pool and changing rooms
Fantastic experience: Skating and music on a Saturday 13.15 to 14.45. £4.50 pp. Adults can watch and join in for free, there are skates there to borrow free of charge. We plan to start going here for the gym and swimming, swimming I believe you have to book in advance.
Positive experience: Staff seemed kind and I had an enjoyable swim for fitness session. However, it generally seems to be lacking: in space, in group fitness classes, in long swimming time slots... It's a shame as I think it would serve a lot of people in the area if more was offered!
Positive experience: Very happy with our last swim as a family & will be going again. Only downfall is it’s only 45mins per session which I think it should be at least an hour. Hopefully this could be changed as 45mins goes way to quick when you are trying to teach two kids to swim & have some play time x
Fantastic experience: Held my twins birthday party here today amazing staff lifeguard in pool was so professional and couldn’t do enough for us when we then went into the hall Chris is exceptional making sure my twins birthday all go to plan and taking the stress away from me thank you so so much
Fantastic experience: Very clean and tidy, welcoming staff
Positive experience: Great staff and equipment but getting in can be a pain as you have to enter the school which has over stringent safeguarding.
Negative experience: Most expensive gym membership I’ve ever known for the smallest gym great way to entice folk to get fit ♂️also like to leave you standing in the rain at the gate toilet trip is there excuse everytime
Fantastic experience: Great thing to do with the family on Saturday afternoons, and skate hire is included!
Fantastic experience: I only went in swimming pool but it was very hygienic and popular
Negative experience: Arrived at the gate in the rain but could not gain access, the place is secured like a high risk security establishment. i will not be joining unless i can get in easily.
Positive experience: not been here but the class timetable feels dissapointing compared to other gyms. Even 1 pilates class & a weekly bodypump would be better. Missing out on alot of custom there
Fantastic experience: Great place. Lovely little gym and a nice pool. Be nice if there was a little cafe
Positive experience: Arrived at the centre, having heard it had had a lot of money spent on refurbishing it. Great facilities all clean and tidy. Though really really disappointed to see the sports hall was the same tired looking place from many years ago. Did the money run out when they got the hall?
Fantastic experience: Great friendly staff, good facilities.
Fantastic experience: Lovely, friendly Local Gym
Fantastic experience: Helpful staffs, great hygiene and good management.
Fantastic experience: Family swimming session was great, loads of space to splash around, changing rooms are immaculate and staff are always very helpful
Fantastic experience: Great place to go train and classes run are excellent.
Positive experience: Awful new setup for the swimming lessons through halo. Happy to charge you and take your money even though you havnt had the swimming lessons booked correctly.
Fantastic experience: Nice local swimming pool. It has convenient times for lane swimming, family swim and offers swimming lessons. Cheap entry.
Fantastic experience: Lovely place, took my baby granddaughter swimming. Good, clean facilities
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool. The staff are always really friendly and accommodating, the price is good and the pool is always warm. We've been back many times - this one's a winner!
Fantastic experience: Good setup, not too busy
Fantastic experience: ♡ it
Positive experience: Nice local pool
Fantastic experience: Nice place
Fantastic experience: Pool was quite warm not to busy
Fantastic experience: Well managed with Covod, clean and enjoyable.
Fantastic experience: Pool was clean, well managed and not crowded; due to COVID restrictions and rules. However, you are allowed about 1hr within the premises (50mins inside the pool).
Positive experience: It's got a good pool
Fantastic experience: My favourite sport center
Fantastic experience: Great pool, friendly staff.
Positive experience: Quiet well thought out for Covid. Would use again
Positive experience: It's ok but feels a bit run down, and the car park is too small at busy times. Good staff though. But booking can be difficult and prone to error (by Halo).
Fantastic experience: Hockey pitch plays well in the wet
Fantastic experience: Dropped group of teenage boys for a swim, they enjoyed themselves.
Positive experience: Good
Positive experience: Overall a good sports centre, in the need of a refit.
Positive experience: Friendly staff, could be cleaner
Negative experience: Needs freshening up and somewhere to get a drink. Looking very tired and a little neglected
Positive experience: Astro pitch needs improvement, new nets
Positive experience: Can always do with being cleaner. It can be quite grubby especially the changing rooms for the pool. Staff are always friendly. Swimming timetable is oddly organised with most adult lane swimming at the start of the week and public swimming at the end of the week. Would be nice if it was spread through out the week. Example: one day lanes one day public. So that if you are a frequent swimmer you can spread it throughout the week rather than bunch your days up all in one go. Other than that no other complaints.
Fantastic experience: Pool is good.
Negative experience: Awfully tight space to get changed. Unhygienic place. Lifeguards doing their juty well tho.
Fantastic experience: Good
Positive experience: A little run down but fit for purpose. Fantastic kids swimming lessons.
Negative experience: Could be so much better. Staff are bored - playing on phones in reception. Phoned to check class was running this Saturday but turned up and it wasn't on. They didn't know!
Positive experience: Great place for a morning swim. £3.60
Fantastic experience: Great sports centre. Parking can be a nightmare sometimes.
Fantastic experience: Nice place to learn swimming. Plenty of parking places.
Positive experience: Facilities are not looked after well but pool is.
Positive experience: Haven't used the gym but my daughter attends swimming lessons here every week and she loves the guys that teach her . Although I have been in the pool and it is freezing.
Positive experience: Daughter attends swimming lessons here. Loads of free parking and easy access to the pool. Changing rooms are a little small (being in the gents isn't to bad as still room to change kids but not sure if this is the same in the ladies as there are always a lot of people changing their each week). Toilets are functional but do smell. Pool is well kept but very cold. Kids come out after 30mins chattering. Understand this is attached to the local school but a little heat to remove the chill would help. Lessons are great and little one really enjoys going - great value at £6 a lesson. Only bad thing I have noticed - if another kid is playing up or taking to long to jump in then the whole class has to wait. This can be several minutes of nothing happening. I would prefer they tried and then moved onto the next kid - after all I'm the one paying to watch my kid stand around waiting. This doesn't happen every week and other than that can't fault anything else.
Positive experience: Good sports facilities here
Fantastic experience: Good but the gym equipment could do with an update
Positive experience: Clean but in need of maintenance. Pool very crowded at peak time
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility with polite and friendly staff. One of the clearest pools around with modern and clean dry and wet changing rooms.
