Colwyn Leisure Centre - Ffit Conwy

Fantastic experience: The leisure centre has good facilities but was made exceptional by the friendly and helpful receptionist.

Positive experience: Hot showers and nice to not have a freezing pool...but it's not changed in years and year...and nothing works anymore...the sprinkler into the big pool has one lonely soul just about still going, no slides up and running, no bubbles in the jacuzzi and the waterfall is now just a stand alone pole hanging out in the middle of the shallow end. Changing rooms are great but the pool needs updating big time.

Fantastic experience: First time here . My children and I came for a swim booked the session for 19.00 to 20.00 and the time was perfect. Clean pool, clean facilities. We had an amazing time and it was wonderful to have that family time

Positive experience: Love coming to a variety of exercise classes but can the instructors stop telling us we need to earn our weekend treats by working hard. It’s a very old fashioned & unhealthy view of exercise.

Fantastic experience: Use the leisure centre for swimming. Easy to book online,plenty of parking. Changing rooms are clean and lockers take 20p. Showers are nice and hot. Pool is good size and has a shallow pool which links round to the main pool. Staff are friendly and helpful and a great little cafe on site for afterwards. The gym always looks busy but I've not used that!

Fantastic experience: Have been back over a year now since stopping when Covid closed all the services. Have to say that the current gym experience is way superior to that previously. Having the gym in the main hall is great. The equipment is good. But above all the new staff have made a huge difference from before Covid. They are friendly, helpful and knowledgable and ait is a pleasure to attend the gym. Ifvthere is a negative it is that the standard of cleanliness out of the gym, in the rest of the building is not the best

Negative experience: Major incident in the swimming pool when my daughter attended her swimming lesson, attendent let her go under when she couldn't swim, and when I say under I mean 4 times, me and my son watched on horror as my daughter tried desperately to reach the top! Another mother also witnessed it and said how utterly traumatising it was to watch. The actual swimming instructor was with another child, didn't see a thing. Needless to say I went absolutely bonkers, my poor daughter won't even get in the pool now, they have ruined her confidence she's petrified. Manager tried his best to sort it, but it's to late. Dont send your child here for lessons, they arnt observed properly by the swimming attendent. Swimming instructors attitude was....."would you like to change the day she comes" How on earth would that help? Smaller groups and attendent who watch the child at all times I think, very poor attitude off instructor not even a apology. Although I will say manager was very nice.

Fantastic experience: This is the friendliest gym I've ever been to. The staff are all really friendly and make sure if you're new that you fully understand what machines will suit you best for what you want. For anyone who is anxious, they are very patient and let you know what times are the quietest!

Fantastic experience: Facilities are good, but the staff are amazing. Dave especially. Very helpful and makes you feel at ease. Important when you have high anxiety and going somewhere new. One of the lifeguards was also very helpful and friendly. But all staff I came across were really nice.

Negative experience: Swimming pool is dirty and dated, slide broken and other play facilites not in working order and chaning area is flooded and dirty

Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed the Leisure Centre spent an hour in the ️‍♀️ thought there facilities where brilliant and always plenty of people available to give you instructions and advice when you need it, i am really starting to see the benefits of coming to train here, i would highly recommend to others there are also many different programs you can enrolle in to suite the needs of most very affordable membership and discounts available there are even more new equipment in the Gym now making it even better

Positive experience: Classes are absolutely brilliant Staff are all very lovely and inviting. But what's letting the place down for me is that I can never get into any classes. People are hogging too many classes which makes everyone else suffer. As soon as they are released a few days before you can't book to get in. I don't like the actual gym I prefer classes. I basically paid £40 for one bodypump class this month because of not being able to get in because it's full to book. Either get more classes or or let others have a chance to book closer to the time the class is on. Completely made me lose my motivation which is such a shame Can't fault the staff though just the system

Fantastic experience: An absolutely fabulous experience, we visited today with our SEN daughter, what a joy it was to have a PROPER well thought out changing room, the pool was lovely and whoever thought of the sloping entry option for the less able deserves a pat on the back! Staff were not only the “expected” polite, they were damned nice, from the reception to the lifeguards BIG thumbs up! Colwyn Bay Leisure Centre……you did great! 10/10

Positive experience: Good gym with Watson equipment! If you have a key card you have to now book via a application on your phone and use your card to get into the gym unfortunately I only use my phone for payments etc.. but I've found a fix! *****On a Android phone use Google wallet and Scan your card onto it, then it will now work on the gates***** Not sure about apple. open a little later like 10pm or 24 hour. *Need to stop putting 1980s music on the radio i cant use earphones when training with people and the music is poor unfortunately its not gym music.* maybe in a disco when your drunk!

Fantastic experience: I think this is the best place in North Wales for you to find your rescued dog or cat. They really care for their animals here. Many people don't know that they also have a vet who attends part-time every week where you can obtain treatment for any sick or injured animals. I believe their prices for treatments is lower than most other vets, depending on your circumstances.

Negative experience: Sad this once family favourite has gone down hill so much.

Negative experience: I had to cancel my membership because of the crèche staff here, I only used it Tuesday mornings here then wednesdays at junction (brilliant crèche there) I always questioned whether they were qualified in childcare as the council website states they are “trained to the highest standard” yet they couldn’t meet my 8 month olds basic needs, like wiping his nose, wouldn’t change his nappy because they can’t (won’t) leave the room for staff to children ratio, yet will leave with a toddler which leaves the ratio worse off? When I told them my son is crawling so doesn’t need to go in the bouncer, plonked him on the carpet amongst all the age inappropriate toys not specific to his age with all the other children running around him, without so much as a mat! The councils website states they promote “social, physical and intellectual development through the use of a wide variety of materials and equipment” no they don’t, they put peppa pig on for the hour and have a pile of toys in the middle of the floor, which they pack up 20 minutes before the crèche ends? The last straw was when I gave them food for my son with a messy monster big (large rubber bib which catches everything) when I picked him up they told me he had been sick but he was in the pram covered with a blanket ready to go as usual! When I got him home and checked him properly there was patches of sick all over him! Down the back of his arm, front and several patches all over his legs! Crispy dry orange sick that clearly had not been wiped, that is NEGLECT! With a full packet of baby wipes supplied and a bib that if worn would of caught the sick there was absolutely no need for this! I called up and spoke to the manger Neil who assured me he would be having words. I was I never heard back and when I went to my next session I had to bring it up myself, the response I got was rude, childish, unprofessional and smug! Certainly not the response you would receive from staff trained to the “highest standard” not even an apology to the state they left my baby in! Arguing and acting like a couple of school girls in front of the other children they are supposed to be looking after and one of them is over 50, at least! Sure enough Neil called me back that day after I’d walked out, no way was I leaving my children with them after that, I made a formal complaint and a meeting was held, basically from now on they will be handing leaflets out to state they don’t change nappies and they will get mats for babies, I will never know if these measly changes were made as after my personal experience I wouldn’t trust them with my dog let alone my children! Not even an apology, extremely unprofessional and a shocking attitude, especially where young vulnerable children are involved! Such a shame as the Llandudno junction is the total opposite, the staff can’t do enough! No tv, interact with them throughout, greet you politely and have friendly conversations, every time i finished my class if my youngest wasn’t asleep he would be on one of their knees whilst they were interacting with him, changing nappies, not a problem, nor any feeding problems, my eldest son misses the Wednesday session and the staff there but one class a week doesn’t justify the membership fee. I’m glad to see the back of Colwyn centre as soon as you walk in your snarled at by Julie or Carmel, they could do with a lesson or two in customer service and should learn to smile, you get nothing but sarcasm and an unwillingness to help from them, they constantly look like there smelling feaces! The lads that work reception were always friendly, helpful and should be on reception more permanently as that is where customers enter and first impressions are made, they are defiantly more suited and capable of the job.

Negative experience: Very dated. Swimming pool needs ripping out and replacing because this one is zero fun for anyone. The main hall is stuck in the early 80's when the place was booming. The outdoor facilities save the place.

Positive experience: Lockers for 20p no refundable, no hair dryers, except that best indoor swimming pool open out of season in local areas. Water very warm (I mean warmer than usual). No mask covering nose allowed. Good place to go with family.
