Yarborough Leisure Centre (Active Nation)

Negative experience: Sorry to say but shocked on how this place is still aloud to be open. facilities cleanliness is abysmal - especially the showers/toilets in changing rooms, the whole pool changing rooms each cubicle has muck , mould build up even the pool is full of sediments. Gym facilities is very poor and well over 20 years out of date and well behind any other local gym , their are to many machines that do not work properly or are broken and not being fixed. (treadmills , bikes , striders , damaged weights , weight machines , bars are not even correct) a full membership is sold for gym and Swim use but you can never actually use the pool as its ran by a timetable and there is no swimming time in the evenings / afternoons for general people to use.. Your left with late mornings which does not fit the people that work 9-5 (or longer)! the full pool is sectioned into swimming lanes and it is stupidly busy!! (where this could also be sectioned off for general use , or allow the lane swimmers to use the deep end ! so general use can use the shallow to medium depth. As part of the membership as well it advertises sauna and steam room - i have found out the steam room has not been working for 6-12 months and people are being told it is not going to be fixed. Also the Sauna is suppose to be for adults only and even the Sauna has a timetable and there is more time that it cannot be used than what it could be which is even more appalling when you add the above problem with the pool. if Money cannot be pumped into this so called leisure centre to improve standards , quality and a proper leisure centre experience how can it remain open and charge the public money. I have seen better set ups and care in 3rd world countries. And for Lincoln being such an available place to live its shocking how far behind this leisure centre is behind in the real world.

Negative experience: I took my kids swimming here, my first annoyance was I couldn't fit my rucksack sack in the tiny locker. In the little pool there was older kids throwing balls at each other which hit toddlers and their parents. The lifeguard just stood there and said nothing so I had to say something to them. Then I found out about toddler time.. I rang up and was told it was mon-fri 9-10, so on Tue I dropped my oldest lad off at school and rush to Yarborough, only to be told that it was on Mon, wed, Thur, Fri. So Friday I dropped my lad off and rush there again, this time I was told it was on Mon, wed, Thur. I doubt I'll be going back again

Negative experience: Pool is very dirty, u can see all the sediment at the bottom in the corners, not very appealing,

Fantastic experience: Good facilities and great staff

Negative experience: Play Badminton. Wish they had an online booking portal for this as it is actual torture trying to get them to pick up the phone. Can easily call 10 times a day over 3 days and not have them pick up the phone once

Fantastic experience: Lots and lots of parking which is great however it meant the football pitches are an untypical long walk to. Still the pitches are well maintained including a mix of natural and astro turf with some of them having floodlights. The toilet facility we used looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while maybe as it was on Sunday - the only let down I encountered.

Negative experience: We have been attending the family swim sessions at regularly, and have always appreciated the chance to enjoy a free swim with our young child. However, on our recent visit, the session was replaced with a floating activity that was not suitable for our child due to his age, and we were unexpectedly charged £11 per person, instead of the usual rate. It seems unfair to charge the higher price for an activity we could not enjoy. A better solution would be to differentiate between participants, for example, by issuing wristbands for those using the floating equipment. Families with young children should still be able to enjoy regular swim sessions at the standard price. I hope the management will reconsider this pricing practice to accommodate all visitors fairly. Also please consider updating the pool changing area, its the worst...

Negative experience: Do they answer the phone they are sat next to it and I’ve been trying for 20 minutes it’s a joke

Negative experience: I had an appointment for an induction. When I got there it had been cancelled but no one had called to tell me. What a waste of my time.

Negative experience: Absolutely outrageous to send debt collectors with fines not acknowledging that there was a request to cancel the membership. Customer service never even mentioned this terms and conditions at enrolling. Totally unprofessional.

Negative experience: I came to go swimming and it was the worse experience I have had due to the lifeguard staring at me. She was making me and my friend extremely uncomfortable and we felt like we couldn’t have a good time so we have to leave early. We would appreciate if this was sorted out.

Fantastic experience: Fun all the way in the Gym plus a nice snack ,decent shower and fairly good social things going on.

Positive experience: The EGYM has height and weight restrictions. This is not made clear when joining and paying the annual fee. It's highly embarrassing being told this publicly.

Negative experience: Kids being let down by active nation swimming awards they surpost to get not available kids getting upset , your quick to take the money but slow to keep your side of the deal my son now done 4 awards he is 6 year old ,over 2 months asking for his awards all we get is sorry

Negative experience: Good range of facilities, ok times can be restrictive but it's reasonably priced. What is NOT acceptable is the amount of things in the building that are broken or need attention! And the lack of any plan to repair things. Locker doors missing or hanging off, locks broken, mouldy urinal mats, smelly showers, grubby changing room floors.

Positive experience: Great community spirit, friendly and helpful staff. Ther3 is a machine which has been broken for months however...

Negative experience: Absolutely vile Mold in the showers, mold on the pool cover, disgusting toilets, used nappies everywhere. Literally healthier not to go. Swimming pool is only open outside of working hours for 1 hour per day so the whole population of lincoln try to go at the same time, meaning there are regularly 8 or 9 people trying to swim in the same lane. Waste of money.

Positive experience: I go for swimming, the pool is great and facilities are ok, but showers are in a bit of a state and they could do with a swimsuit dryer.

Negative experience: A lovely reception area, great. Smelly changing rooms, and nappies left in cubicles. Swimming pool lane ropes are dangerous, lots of plastic broken, others are missing leaving the ropes not easily seen by swimmers.

Negative experience: The pool and gym are great for the price and location but the wet changing rooms DESPERATELY need some refurbishment. Numerous broken lockers, often smells of drains/urine, the floors are dirty sometimes with crisps and food spilled all over, dirty nappies left in changing cubicles (imagine being that selfish?!), the taps in the gents are constantly leaking (waste of water) and the showers are dark, dirty and usually cold. The activenation app is abysmal too, booking is a painful process. The staff are friendly and helpful though.

I can say there is lots of parking spaces available I did enjoy this leisure centre and staff are extremely helpful professional and polite. Positive experience: Had a lovely swim as has a pool sauna steam an gym facilities. Needs a lot of improvements made as gone quite downhill. Removed diving boards as a good feature an no longer does inflatable sessions.

Negative experience: Sneaky cancellation policy, with hidden fees.

Fantastic experience: My son has needed to train while we're on holiday and we went down to Yarborough track twice. The staff have been incredibly helpful and have gone out of their way to facilitate use of the track. Thank you so much for all your help

Negative experience: Would be 5 star if the wet changing village was cleaner. Settled water everywhere. Dirt on the floor. Toilet/shower area also very dirty. Nearly slipped over on the water a few times. It's a shame because the facilities are otherwise great. Staff seem nice enough although seemingly not that dedicated. Really hope they soon sort out the cleanliness issue as I don't really want to cancel my membership. The slippery floors could prove dangerous. Please employ cleaners or staff that care about hygiene and cleanliness. If that gets sorted then I'll change this to a 5 star. If..

Negative experience: Take children for swimming lessons. Teachers keep changing, too many kids in each lesson when 2 groups have to be in the pool together. Cafe always closed. Drinks machine charges me £2.50 and poured the drink outside of the cup and nothing can be done because Yarborough aren’t responsible for it. It hasn’t worked properly for weeks. No diving boards. Activenation give details of all exciting things kids can learn after they’ve finished all the stages but Yarborough offer none of them. Not really encouraging anything that could lead to greater things. All in all really disappointed. On a plus staff are friendly over the phone and try to help, so it must be frustrating to them too

Fantastic experience: Fighting Fit group is great

Negative experience: I joined only to use the pool but the times / slots are so infrequent that I struggle to do so. Especially when schools are closed, it seems there are no sessions for lane swimming except 6-8am and on some days an additional slot later in the day. It is really hard to get your money's worth.. life is busy and this lack of a range of times to access the pool means that I am paying but not working out as much as I want to. Also,.the site is inaccurate and can't book, I downloaded the app but my qr code doesn't work and I need a 5 minute discussion with the receptionist every time I visit. Finally, the facilities are not well maintained and not clean enough. I wish I could just have my money back and cancel to go somewhere else where I can actually swim at suitable times..

Fantastic experience: It's good there and has fitness, a swimming pool and many more activities that you can join.

Positive experience: I recently visited this leisure centre and pool and I have to say, it was a great experience. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, with a wide range of equipment and activities available. The pool was particularly impressive, with a large and well-maintained swimming area, as well as a separate children's pool. The water was clean and at a comfortable temperature, and there were plenty of lanes available for lap swimming. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they were always available to answer any questions or provide assistance. The changing rooms were also clean and well-equipped with lockers and showers. Overall, I had a great time and I would definitely recommend this leisure centre and pool to anyone looking for a fun and active way to spend their time.

Negative experience: After a couple of months I decided to go down to yarborough leisure centre, in Lincoln post code LN1 3PT i went on the 9/5/2023 in the afternoon pm. I went to reception his name was called (Will) not was the name he said he was, i was there for 2 hours with him he was explaining about the program for the swimming class and the gym. And the money to pay monthly after all that time I spent I paid him the money for the lessons, to have a swimming lesson which would cost me £26.00 each month. Mr will said that I must pay £12.03p and £26.00 for June which I paid he said he will book me for a lesson, for the 16/5/2023 at 6.15pm to 6.45pm when I arrived on 16/5/2023 i went to reception to ask where to go for the swim lessons, the girl at the reception looked at the computer she said that I was not booked on the course to have a swimming lesson and the classes already starting from 6.00pm not 6.15pm I was very disappointed and upset that he has taken my money and not given me the right information, so I was not able to have a lesson the girl book me on another day to come back for a lesson on 20/5/2023 at 12.30 till 1.00pm I had a telephone ☎️ call at 10.03 am on the morning of 20/5/2023 from reception. YARBOROUGH LEISURE CENTER LINCOLN LN1 3PT from a young man he said that the swim lesson ‍♂️ has been cancelled, once again i was very very disappointed not having a lesson again there have taken my money from my account into their bank account, the YARBOROUGH LEISURE CENTRE RUNS BY ACTIVE NATION IN MY OPINION BASED ON THE TREATMENT THAT I RECEIVED FROM THE STAFF, AT YARBOROUGH LEISURE CENTER UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF INCOMPETENT AND NO FEELINGS OR COMPASSION TO TOWARDS CUSTOMER.

Positive experience: Well priced gym, pool and leisure centre and easily accessible. Would really benefit from well placed water coolers though. On my visit the few I found were non functioning

Positive experience: Great facilities, only let downs are that it’s so hard to get through to anyone via phone and the swimming times for the small pool are at around 7.30-8.30. I have a 3month old I like to take swimming and I find that by the time I’ve got her ready and myself ready we only have about 20ish minutes left before the pool closes! Would be better if it stayed open longer and had more swim sessions on :)

Negative experience: Unfortunately left after only 11 days of being a member. An instructor belittled and embarrassed me in front of a full class reducing me to tears. Never really got to experience the gym to it's full potential

Negative experience: I took my Grandson for a pre-booked Swimming lesson, but it was terrible. The music playing in the boxercise and spinning rooms was so loud that it made my headache in the pool area. I don't know how the children managed to hear what they were supposed to be doing. Additionally, the pool is roped off into such small areas (quarters) that it only took him 8 strokes to get to the dividing rope. We moved him from a private 15m pool so that he would be challenged more by having to swim longer distances, but I feel that he has taken a huge step backwards. As they are split into 3 groups, he only swims for about a 1/3 of the allocated time as he is waiting for the others to complete their time. A complete waste of time.

Negative experience: Some of the Reception staff lack the skills necessary to deal with customers, too many new faces all the time, that never know what they are doing, I would suggest better training, the app doesn't work properly iether for bookings ,the check in system is not fit for purpose, also the self check in system for the front turnstyle gates and gym door entrance never seems to work properly, there are not many good choices in the area for large leasure centres , so yarborough should try and improve these issues that I have mentioned

Fantastic experience: I went there to do a bit of air rifle target shooting. It seems to be well cared for. Parking is free and plentiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Probably the best in the area.

Negative experience: Overly controlling atmosphere. Showers; daily stench of urine that could be sorted with regular swilling, but is not done? Studio floors & walls grimey and grubby. At Active Nation, NK - the vibe is completely different; an adult welcome & clean Centre there.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely lovely place to take my boys swimming, the staff are always very nice and friendly, changing rooms are very clean and reasonable prices on bits I sometimes need while I'm there. Good job guys.

Negative experience: I used to love the swimming pool as a child, but now I’m teaching my own child to swim I’m feeling very un-impressed. The changing rooms absolutely stink and Sunday 21st November 2021 we could smell urine. Cramped and dirty too. And the training pool was freezing as the boiler that heats the pool was faulty. It all adds up to a poor experience. Not acceptable in my opinion. Also, we been coming every weekend for past 3 weeks and when the buzzers go, there is still 10-15 minutes of our swim time left (I paid for an hour session, not 45-50 minutes). And if you pay for a 2 hour session, you have to get out after first session to then wait for the 2nd. This was never an issue when I came as a child with my Dad. From now on I’ll be going to NK in North Hykeham. Such a shame as my memories of this place were brilliant from the 80’s & 90’s.

Negative experience: I have a swim membership but every time I want to go there timetable shows there is a lesson. Normal person goes to work 9-4pm like myself but 4-7pm they have lessons when I want to visit. Why they restrict use of main pool for members I don't know and I don't remember this kind of treatment in other places I have been.

Positive experience: Very busy lane swim over lunchtime, they had tried to cram in a senior swim and three lane swims into a small pool.

Fantastic experience: We had our Daughter's 6th Birthday Party at the Jungle Gym today which was brilliant! The room was very clean with lots of equipment for the children. All the staff were friendly and professional. Many Parents commented on the party and were considering having theirs at the Jungle Gym in the future.

Negative experience: Avoid, intentionally sold me kids swimming shorts knowing what I planned to use them for (myself), then refused to refund them and the swim I had just paid for despite the swim session not even being due to start for another 10 minutes. Staff were mostly teenagers who seem clueless, only one qualified trainer who seemed a total ditz, and the staff member who registered new comers favourite machine was clearly the vending (not great when they're your instruction to the gym).

Fantastic experience: Today the care company I work for booked some of the people we support in for a swim. One of our party had some seizure activity on our arrival in reception straight away staff offered assistance. When we got into the pool a lifeguard approached and introduced himself and explained that he was an extra for us incase we needed help whilst we were all in the pool. This is a massive Thank you from us it was greatly appreciated.

They booked a session which is not exist, it wasted our time and my daughter was very upset because of their mistake. This is not the first mistake...
