Fantastic experience: Good gym, been coming here for the past couple weeks now, good variety of machines but there aren’t that many for what you’re paying for. They are really good quality ones though with screens that count your reps, range sets etc. Usually pretty quiet which is a pretty nice benefit and has a pretty decent sized pool included with the membership. Pretty good local gym that is very well staffed and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable however the price is a bit steep (i pay £30 a month with a student discount) but it meets my needs so i’m happy

Positive experience: Good value, good facilities but the spa isn't open all the time and when it is the steam room is temperamental, plus the shower in the spa has been out of action for a while apparently; this means walking the whole length of the pool to wash the sweat off before entering the pool.

Negative experience: I signed my daughter up for swimming lessons which she started in January. The changing rooms were always filthy,lessons regularly being cancelled at very short notice. Had to say about getting a slight pointless refund that they offer after so many cancellations. It was a free for all at the lessons.1 teacher to maximum 10 children per a group.my daughter was left to do what she wanted. Online progression not updated for months online. I don't know how they remember what a student has done after 3-4 months of not updating. We have found lessons elsewhere now Do not recommend

Fantastic experience: Great pool and friendly staff. Join here as having a disability and swimming is helping. Prices are reasonable. Good parking and close to the number 2 bus stop.

Negative experience: Gym Facilities are fantastic. However the 'Spa' area is shocking. Sauna old, falling apart with dirty mats. Mats are put down to prevent you getting splinters from the wood. Cold shower is as good as an asthmatic blowing through a straw. Steam room.. produces no steam. Hardly cleaned. One person pointed out a bit of gum that has been in there for around 6months in the sauna... How this is acceptable I do not know!

Fantastic experience: I'm newly joined so haven't tried the gym and studio classes yet but I can affirm that the aqua aerobics is absolutely fantastic!

Fantastic experience: Easy parking, friendly staff, great changing rooms, £1 coin deposit lockers, 2 swim lanes, huge steam room, cosy sauna, tidy set up. No membership is needed, so perfect for those of us passing by. Thanks Phoenix

Positive experience: So I signed up at the gym to the pheonix after finding out they also have a spa which is half the reason I wanted to join. I was told the spa facilities opened at 6:15pm so I finish work at 5 and work out in the gym until 6:15 I get changed to use the spa facilities for the first time when I go to enter the Sauna it was packed full so I go to the steam room instead and then have to wait 45 mins for it to actually produce any steam. After nearly an hour of waiting I go to use the cold shower which barely trickled out any water. I finally get in the sauna and the mats you sit on looks like they have never been washed. The last thing I noticed was there is no water facilities in the spa for me to fill up my bottle despite it being quite important that people stay hydrated in those conditions. The gym closes at 6 on a weekend despite people having to work weekends it doesn't allow for those to work out in their spare time. All in all this was a very poor experience for me. When I return to use the Spa I'm hoping it doesn't take as long for the steam room to heat up otherwise I will be asking for a refund. Staff are great but the facilities aren't the best. Owners need to sort it out!

Fantastic experience: Adult swimming classes here are really good. Julie is a really good instructor. Tried the gym classes and well and I found it really focused and the instructors very friendly

Fantastic experience: Out of the way, it's a calm place to swim and never gets too packed with people. Staff are helpful and friendly everytime I've been.

Positive experience: Handy pool for me. Its quite small and gets pretty busy. Has a sauna and steam room. Reasonably clean. Mixed cubicles in the changing rooms.

Fantastic experience: I've recently joined and so far I would recommend the Pheonix Leisure Centre to anyone. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The fitness classes I've attended so far have been great. My gym induction was really good and was given a workout plan, lots of varied equipment.

Positive experience: As a member l do feel lm not getting the best value compared to other gyms in the area. Equipment in the studio is very poor not enough equipment to go round, air con hit and miss only just been allowed to turn it on at all. Instructors and staff good but not as many classes as there once was and do lack a good dance exercise class for the mornings.

Negative experience: I used to enjoy taking my child swimming here, but the water is now so cold I can't take her anymore. He lips are literally blue with cold after a short swim. As there seems to be so many complaints about this, I'd like to think they will sort it, but I don't think they will.

Fantastic experience: as member am impressed with gym apparatus the staff trainers and the whole facilities. would recommend membership

Negative experience: BE WARNED. I tried to give a months notice to cancel swimming lesson on Saturday only to be told I need to give them NINE weeks notice, due to them applying to take direct debit payments two weeks in advance and then adding deposit money as well (rather than them refunding it). You can not take it up with a manager because to quote “He’s never here” Very unhelpful front of house staff. Will not be coming back here

Negative experience: I have just cancelled my membership. Th Pheonix has sadly deteriorated since I joined. They are penny pinching by closing the steam room and sauna during the day, the shower doesn’t work in there anyway. I have contacted head office but my comments fall on deaf ears.

Negative experience: Shocking pool and shower temperature for children! Week after week they are freezing cold! Happy to take your money but obviously trying to save pennies!

Fantastic experience: Just joined the centre only for the pool. Found it very hard to swim as children bomb jumping in the pool basically on top of you..lifeguards not paying attention, or just don't care. Nowhere to actually swim. Was really disappointed, but will persevere!!!

Fantastic experience: Still very helpful, lockers all numbered with wrist key fobs, showers now hot, pool area clean and tidy.

Negative experience: I went swimming on Sunday 6th February 22 and I was totally disgusted at the state of the changing rooms, the poolside and the water. The changing rooms didn’t look like they had been cleaned in weeks and the poolside was the same. The water had so many bits floating around in it and the bottom of the pool was really gritty like sand. I couldn’t wait to get out. The foyer was just as bad and the disabled toilet in the foyer was really dirty too. I would have given a no star rating BUT the water was warm so I thought I would be generous! Please clean it up!!

Negative experience: now that you have to book a slot for swimming, I phoned 4 times on Friday no awnser and six times on the Saturday still no awnser. so I decided just to turn up on Sunday only to be told the pool is full, when I explained that I've been trying to ring for two days the man behind the counter said that they were busy dealing with people coming in despite one young lady not doing anything whilst I was there

Fantastic experience: It's a nice place for Sunday swimming and relaxing place. There is also SPA so not bad. However there was little issue as I cut my finger on my foot under the water on sharp tile. At the reception I had a plaster so it was OK

Negative experience: Just moved in to the area and was looking for a gym. Decided to pop in to view the facilities and inquire about the rates. Sadly, when I got there, no one attended to me for more than 10 mins despite having 2 receptionists at the counter - were just chatting with some of the patrons at the lounge. I walked out.

Negative experience: I am really interested in joining the gym membership and decided to come to check out of the place. I would really appreciate if someone out of the 2 staffs in the reception (they was just chatting around with another person) have the kindness to help me maybe that can actually ask if I was ok after looking so confused, standing in the middle of the reception for good 10 minutes holding the new membership leaflet. Was really hoping this gonna be my go to gym but I guess, no then.

Negative experience: The steam room is shocking, people pay good money for their gym memberships. It holds its steam for 5 mins then it's gone, the gap under the door is way to big and the door keeps opening. I joined this gym when it opened and the steam room was just the same it's a easy fix obviously someone's a bit tight on wanting too correct things.
