Positive experience: Honestly I expected much worse! Does it have all the most up to date equipment? Not really, but it is clean, well spaced out and has everything you really need, plus never crazy busy. Changing rooms are quite clean, the staff are polite and helpful and its open 24/7. I'd love it even more if there could be some more functional equipment on the top floor, such as plyo boxes - hopefully management read this! Also a larger selection of machines on the top floor too would be good, and a new leg press that doesn't squeak!

Negative experience: Everyone can just see in, really off putting and stopped me and all my friends from signing up. The windows are not even blurred with window stickers. Really disappointed , makes you feel like an animal in a zoe.

Negative experience: I absolutely regret renewing my membership again I have been working out here for 2 years recently they suspended my account for leaving one weight on the ground without any warning they allow me to suspend my account 3 days after I paid for my membership absolutely rude the managers say it is in the rules but it is not written anywhere that your account will be suspended immediately, the manager does not respond to emails, this has never happened to me

Fantastic experience: It was wounderful experience when i got registered in puregym.Intovert staff members and very well equiped machines.Every sought of machines are available in the puregym.Especially the cleaning is the main factor ,everthing is been cleaned and well furnished.Apart from that drinking facilities as well as after shower seems a plus point .I have visit almost many gym centers ,telling honestly the hospitality and the trainers with space i met in puregym i havent seen before.

Fantastic experience: Did the HIT class with Cameron and he was brilliant. Talked us through the different steps and demonstrated the form for each intervention. Would highly recommend as there was also variations for beginners therefore don’t be intimidated. Another plus is Cameron is super polite, friendly and kind!!

Fantastic experience: Did the “pump” class and have been hooked ever since. Aiden is a top trainer, he makes the sessions fun and intense

Negative experience: Coming from Leicester’s PureGym where I had a great experience, gave me high hope for the one here in derby but unfortunately it’s totally different, machine are old and few, environment is dirty, couldn’t find a cleaning station. The lighting is poor, hence making seem like a dull environment. PureGym can do better here please.

Fantastic experience: Top beginners gym, best price (like for like) and decent space. Can't fault it.

Negative experience: Terrible quality wifi, using a bad provider with a sign up process that needs text confirmation in a basement without phone signal. Completely useless. Even when connected signal is weak with too few fast routers spreading the signal. Air quality in the basement is poor. Bad odours and damp are common. Low quality air filtration/conditioning.

Negative experience: Never anyone there to help as I go at night

Positive experience: A bit disappointed to be fair. Absolutely no sanitary stations. Yet the two gyms I’ve been to before that were cheaper than this had gone scattered over multiple floors. The layout isn’t the best, but most of all queuing for machines is the biggest issue, this usually happens at busy times even at bigger gyms, however FOUR of the bike machines were out of order leaving only 2/3, which were obviously occupied. I’ve been to cheaper gyms that do not have this issue, and have good sanitary practice and a much better layout that’s not so cramped. The changing rooms here are lovely, but I just can’t excuse the actual GYM experience.

Fantastic experience: I expected the worst as it's a budget gym, but there's plenty of facilities and there's 3 floors, so there will be somewhere that's quieter if you have gym nerves.

Negative experience: Definitely the worse gym going so far out of 7 other pure gyms I have been to as I travel around the country. Dirty, smelly not much equipment unlike all the others. Hate to think what it would be like at peak time. No parking had to pay on top of what you pay for the gym. However staff and customers friendly.

Positive experience: Clean but rough around the edges. Could do with upgraded machinery and variety of machines missing which are offered in other puregyms.

Negative experience: What a terrible gym. Especially since its a Puregym. Terribly poor supply of machines. Only 1 bench press for a gym in city centre is a joke. Could find better gyms in the countryside.

Negative experience: Worst gym I've been too. No control for overpopulation, basement gym, no air, smelly, dirty. Bought a week's membership but won't be coming back.

Positive experience: Great workout environment with really nice people. Only downside is the gym is a bit cramped and lack variety.

Positive experience: So today I had my 2nd visit to pure gym. The site was very clean, machines worked well. The only downside is I didn't see any staff anywhere at my time of visiting. I was looking for some advice on how I can loose weight, get fitter and not feel unwell after a long period of exercise and for further advice but unfortunately there was no one about hence the 4 stars (visited at 1900 approx). Do I need to contact a PT or are staff able to give pointers and advice free of charge? But other than that there is regular announcements about what to do in an emergency. The gym wasn't that busy either.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Very good kit on 3 floors. Very clean and well maintained. Cleaning stations so you can wipe down your machines after using

Negative experience: No support at all.. my induction got cancelled.. tried to get support on their Facebook page but no response.. tried calling but can’t get through to speak to anyone.. joined and chose option to delay membership for one week but still got charged even though I didn’t attend for that week! very disappointed.

Positive experience: Ive been going to puregym for 3 years!! Happy with the gym. However I've been downstairs just 3,4 times as it not enough mirrors and its just one mirror at the front which is always busy and unfortunately there is no bench upstairs at all so most of the time had to skip my workout plan.

I wish there were newer machines like the hack squat, hips thrusts or back extension machines though...or and more effective cleaning of the bathroom. The black mould is disgusting.

Negative experience: Was going to join up but after experiencing the attitude and poor customer service from 'kyle' who claimed to be the assistant manager, when asked if could speak to management I think i'll go elsewhere, tip to anyone looking to lose weight avoid like the plague..........

Fantastic experience: Was nervous when I first walked in but the staff and other gym goes was so friendly.My aerobics class was great the instructor didn't pressure or overdo in his routine he was quite attentive and giving us the help when we needed it .The gym is very clean and the equipments are great some I've never seen before and can't wait to try out. I'm visiting England will be back home in a couple of months but I'm sure it'll be going back everyday till I'm ready to go back home really excellent gym.

Negative experience: I’ve been in and out of pure gym for the last few years… I’ve stopped going to the derby gym now even though is the closest… feels like it’s been forgotten about in comparison to other pure gyms like Loughborough

Negative experience: Would love a boxing area I.e punching bags within the gym and a couple more machines... the gym has the space. I believe this will completely help the derby gym and even bring more to the gym...

Fantastic experience: Plenty of exercise machines. Clean and tidy. I was impressed it's the first time I have been there.

Positive experience: This gym has tons of potential. I joined on a 7 day pass while visiting from the US. My first impression was wow, what a nice place. The website made it very easy to join and there were no problems getting in the door. Once I found the free weights downstairs I was surprised by 2 things, 1- the amount of weights scattered I’m on the ground as if no one ever bothered to re wrack anything and 2, the lack of equipment. Luckily on my first day there (chest&Tris) I was able to secure the bench press for myself. Later in the week I was underwhelmed by the variety of leg machines and 25kg plates available. I understand that everyone is at a different place in their fitness journey but the amount of people here who seemed like novice gym goers made the entire experience into a hassle. Lots of sitting around on machines and texting and not being considerate or aware of other people. Like I said, much potential being wasted.

Negative experience: Gym is great for the 24 hour feature, but a functioning gym can not run with one dedicated bench press it's a joke. There is literally a queue to use it. Or the ONE deadlift area, which I never got the chance to use before switching gym due to it always being busy. In terms of squats they only have 1 or 2 racks which again presents the same problem. The selection is extremely poor compared to rival gyms who know that gyms need to supply multiple areas for compound exercises

Negative experience: Gym is very low in equipment, only few mirrors and there’s no wifi available for the guest, that’s the first gym I joined without wifi connection

Positive experience: This gym is well equipped and they offer a good range of classes, but it isn’t laid out in the most logical way, and sometimes classes start early or it doesn’t properly explain where they are on the app, which is daunting if you haven’t done the classes before, but you do get banned from booking if you miss 3 classes so I think it should be clearer.

Positive experience: MAKE WIFI GREAT AGAIN PLEASE

Negative experience: First started this gym in 2014/2015 for a bit then stopped and re joined in 2021 and the layout and equipment is still the same!! If you want to train legs you have no hope, you will be travelling between 3 floors oh and a flat bench press? There’s only 1 in the whole gym!!! Massively needs updating! Lockers never lock and unlock properly. The cleanliness is shocking! They don’t have a dedicated cleaning team so the staff have to clean and it is terrible! I avoid the changing rooms at all cost. One of the most important things for me at the gym is good loud music that gets you going and this gym does not offer that. The music gets turned off during unstaffed hours and when it is on you can barely hear it ( not a good atmosphere) there is no way enough mirrors either, theres plenty more space on the walls for mirrors. If any of the equipment breaks they don’t fix it for weeks, sometimes months which is very annoying when there is limited equipment anyway! Only good thing is it’s 24hours and in the town centre which is convenient for me. It’s a shame because there is plenty of potential for the gym. Most honest review you will see on here trust me!

Fantastic experience: First day back after a year off only an hour 2 brake ma self back in place was clean and the cleaning stations are the best iv seen since pandemic iv been 2 a few gyms in that time the equipment is good and everything you need iv nt been 2 pure gym in years and it basically the same as when I was there few years ago over all good gym

Positive experience: Great gym, loads of facilities. Downside is your subscription is x and the parking can be more than what you pay per month which defeats the purpose.

Fantastic experience: Open 24/7 even over the holidays which was a bonus! There is 3 floors to work out on with upstairs being more cardio and classes middle being cardio with leg and a few other machine weighted equipment and bottom being weights and benches, Smith machines ect. The guys are so easy to approach and talk to and are on hand to help with any questions or concerns. Keep it up ☺️
