Negative experience: Joined this gym just after Covid back in 2020. Back then it was one of the best in town. Great equipment, friendly staff and always clean. Over the last few years the gym has seriously gone downhill. Lots of the equipment is broken or missing pieces, the bathroom’s are filthy and I’ve never once seen a cleaner or staff member wash down the equipment. My biggest grip is that there is no longer anywhere safe to store your belongings. All the lockers are either smashed or have had the keys stolen. It’s been left in this condition for months and there’s been no signs of it being fixed or replaced anytime soon. I cancelled my membership in October 2024 and have since been going to Loughborough Leisure Centre. It’s just a little more each month and worth it. All equipment is great, clean and the changing facilities are 10x better. I believe Pure Gym is in a better condition than AF now it’s had a refurb. Whoever owns this franchise of AF needs to put some serious money and love back into the place. If they don’t, it will be the next gym to close. If The Basin can go under due to high rents, I’m pretty sure this place will too.

Negative experience: Not even worth one star, I have joined the gym in June 2024, did not like a bit about the gym very few equipments most of them broken no one had fixed anything and didn't think to go again so what i did was cancelled my direct debit. Now i got busy with my work. And, after few months in September they told me i am still having my membership with this gym and i said no i have cancelled my direct debit after one month because i didn't like the gym and if i used the gym in july after canceling my direct debit it is fair enough that they take the money from me but i didn't used the gym so is there any point of taking three month worth of money and late payments charge ? This is totally unfair with our busy lives we don't have time to fight thia in court because we don't read thia agreements, i have used the gym group, #GYM, and few other gym in past years and when i had to leave the gym the simple thing used to be done is pay for what you have used and cancel for the next month. That's how it works everywhere but apparently here is different thing you have to fill the cancellation form and everything, which i wasn't aware about because i didn't read whole agreement. New update i have used this gym in June for one month which i paid now today i had to pay £88.90 because according to contract i had to follow the agreement please be aware of this sacm! If someone is looking for gym near this area i recommend Pure Gym or Loughborough University Gym Please do not go here!!!

Negative experience: Its not even worth 1 star. The filthiest dirtiest gym with broken and dirty machines ive ever been in. Machines are not maintained with broken smashed parts. Functions not working and dirty. The level of hygiene across the gym is disgusting. Shower facilities - orange mildew present. Mould on the tiles. Only warm water showers. Cleaning shedules simply pure fiction. Seems theres no cleaning atall. The sign off sheets are a lie. Photos taken over a 3 week period show no clensing activities atall. The image i took of the toilet....no difference 2 weeks apart. Dont even bother. Go elsewhere. As for customer service. Thats another joke...

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible gym main reason for this being My contract expired and during the first month after which it had expired i had cancelled my membership then they proceed to tell me i owe them money and now suddenly they are threatening with enforcement agency to get £130 off me when i’ve just completed a 1 year contract with them and paid it all off tried calling tried sending proof and don’t get anything back absolute waste of time and money on top of this equipment is limited and not great condition which isn’t completely off putting but if you aren’t going to provide good service at least provide a good place to actually come to work out

Negative experience: The worst gym I have ever been too. Equipment dated and ripped. It should be closed down. Toilets were so gross Won’t add pictures as I wouldn’t want people to feel sick.

Negative experience: This is a poor excuse for a gym. There is no maintenance or value for members. Machines have been out for several months and after multiple hounding of the staff members still nothing has been to fix the issues. In the previous post, the response to the complaints is not good enough, many members have been complaining to the staff members how is it only now that it has come to the attention of the regional manager that is a blatant lie because the staff had reassured us they had informed the ‘Uptop’ of these issues up to 7-9 months ago. I Don’t understand the point of appointing a a manager at the gym when he/she has no autonomy to service equipment at his discretion. And to say you’re waiting on parts is just another excuse for the delay in repairs. I’m absolutely disgusted at the state of the gym having been a member of this gym for 7 years. You have increased membership monthly fees at the cost of downgrading equipment for WHAT? you have replaced the original life fitness benches with some second grade, second hand unstable benches that seem very unsafe to use as support for workouts. Youve tried to compensate for the lack of equipment with two new dusty as hell apparatus that are second hand and don’t even bother to give them a wipe down, another way to show how much they give a toss. The previous reviews speak for themselves. I would strongly urge new members to avoid this gym like the plague, I’ll be terminating my contract. The patience has worn thin now, it makes me furious every time I walk into the gym and another apparatus or machine breaking.

Negative experience: Been a member here for a while now and what I would say to anyone considering joining, is go somewhere else. The owners have no interest in their members and will not invest anything into the gym to correct its many faults. The only reason I am still a member is the opening times as they are open after 4pm at the weekend. My patience has run out and I will be joining Pure gym shortly. Raised my concerns many times but nothing changes. Seems to me like the owner is running the place into the ground and it wouldn’t surprise me if they are looking to sell. As I said, go somewhere else

Negative experience: I’ve been with the gym for a while now and it’s always been a very friendly gym with good people and great staff. Unfortunately that’s as far as it goes for positives. The dual cable machines is still broke and has been since the start of the year, that’s 9 MONTHS (picture below)!!! Another cable has now broke on the other cable machine leaving just 2 adjustable cables left out of 5. Pins missing on several machines so you have to pinch one from another machine, there’s also always at least 1/2 treadmills out of order at all times. How they can even charge a monthly membership fee is beyond me. An operations manager was there last week to which he told me everything that’s wrong/broke/missing has been put on a list to be sorted, hopefully that list doesn’t get lost in the post, he gave the place a lick of paint (LOL) but other than that I don’t know what he did. Only reason I didn’t give 1 star is because the staff who work at the gym are actually great people, John and Paulina (Shout out to Jordan as well who has just recently left). The problem clearly lays with the area/regional manager who’s just happy make money and doesn’t have an absolute care care in the world for the state of gym. It’s a SHAMBLES and I do feel sorry for the staff in the gym as it makes their job a lot harder in maintaining members and gaining new members. PLEASE FIX THE GYM
Hi Ryan, it would have been myself in the gym, I’m not sure if we spoke around the update or you just saw myself and the others supporting the site. We went in for the week to update areas we could control with the painting, some it issues and others but while on site there were more issues then we we aware of. We made a full list for invoices and requested, including the cable machines but we are on with the suppliers for these to be arranged as we did not have the parts, the pins have all been fitted this week to resolve that issue. I am back on Wednesday this week if you are in to go over the updates and timings but a lot of the issues are being ticked off and just needed a few parts which are on their way.
Positive experience: It’s a great little gym , the staff are very friendly , big ups to John , however I do think the gym needs a lot of tlc , the pulley machine has been broken since the start of the year , it’s taken till now for us to get new tricep ropes . If this gym was puregym any issues would have been resolved instantly . All the pulley machine needs is new cables , surely all this needs is a quick phone call to an engineer to come and resolve the issue ?

Negative experience: As others have mentioned, the state of the gym is a disgrace. Equipment has been broken for many months, the gym is very dirty and the air conditioning has been turned off/broken for months. The gym manager doesn’t care and won’t address these issues at all. Avoid this gym at all costs.

Negative experience: Multiple pins missing on the weight machines,2 out of 5 treadmills broke plus much more. Nothing has been fixed in months which is a shame for all paying members. The staff are great but let down by the fact Graham Lilley wont get the equitment us paying members expect to be able to use fixed.

Negative experience: Almost one year in this gym , most of members are nice and friendly but the maintenance for last period is a total mess. There are two broken cable machines for over 3 months. I consider to stop my membership at the end of the month. Wish them luck

Negative experience: I never leave reviews but it’s been too long and I’ve sent too many emails in and nothings changed. I have been a member since it opened. I have sent in many emails for recommendations or to set things right which has fallen upon deaf ears. 2 benches have broken on me whilst I was lifting as they are not fit for commercial purposes. The pulley is still broken, all the bikes and their straps need replacing, missing pins for machines and maintenance is needed as the pulling actions are not smooth. Lots of the weighted plates were stolen during covid and not replaced so we lack weights for the gym where everything is plate loaded. This gym is in sore need of needing a renovation or money thrown at it to replace everything as it is rusted. The owners by last count have 16 different locations, the best thing about the gym is the community which is made from the members and staff. The same excuses are always said we’ll do it soon or we are looking into it. we didn’t have changing room lights for a couple of weeks, simple cheap replacements haven’t even happened. For example new ropes or karabiners these are simple cheap to replace and doesn’t happen. Member prices were increased but no improvements have been made. Edit 14/07/23 - Nothing has been fixed from the previous review, cables have been broken the entire year. Instead of buying new ropes which cost 11.99-12.99 they would rather cover it in tape. AC doesn’t work now in half the gym so it’s like a greenhouse when it’s hot. Honestly I don’t know how this gym is able to carry the name of anytime fitness brand. If they had a brand rep they should be stripped of the brand due to to the sheer state of the gym.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member for years and I love it there. Really chill and friendly atmosphere, lots of room, lots of equipment. I also love the private bathrooms with showers but they could REALLY do with being cleaned more often, they're always filthy.

Positive experience: Gym has very good facilities however, some if the members do not put the equipment back or tidy up after them. Some members pickup too heavy weight can't lift it and just dump it rather than put it back so many dumbells have the rubberised coating damaged. Due to this epidemic the cleaning fluids used have caused rust on some if the equipment which is a good sine many members do clean after themselves so please don't assume the gym a bad gym as it is not. The gym has personal bathrooms and one disabled bathroom. At the moment one of the bathrooms has a damaged hair dryer but I would expect this will be fixed soon by owners. The gym has emergency tags and a difibularator first aid kit etc. The gym is 24 hour with key fob which is a deal breaker for me, I can go early hours of the morning or daytime hence anytime. There is small lockers available just big enough for wallet or purse and a mobile phone. Gym bags won't fit in this locker it is just for valuables as such. I been a member for over 3 years now and I am happy with the gym for the most part, it is just some inconsiderate messy members but it is to be expected with any gym to be fair. During the day personal trainers are available between the staff hours which is very good for beginners to get the advice and help needed to learn the machines and exercises plan your routine etc. There is infers to provide personal trainers included with membership for the first few months after you join which is a massive bonus for beginners wanting to achieve whatever goals they want achieve. Your membership gives you access across the entire country of their gyms and I think also others across Europe as long as it is an anytime fitness gym. I have been in Blackpool before and used the gym there away from home. There is also lots of discount offers and promos members get however they are not of interest to me as I don't use protein shales, boosters or energy products but it is offered with membership. You also get discounts at some local stores with membership sometimes check what's going each month. All in all it is a good gym, if it was not for the messy members this would be a perfect gym.

Fantastic experience: The gym is small relative to other gyms i have seen. However, I am yet to see a gym that has used space so effectively. There is no section of the gym that feels cramped yet there is all the essential and even extra equipment including a boxing bag, boxes, a complete rack of kettlebells, a section for classes etc. Very impressive. I have been to 7 different gyms in my lifetime and I can promise that this gym has the best staff! Always friendly, never forget to say hi and bye when I'm entering or leaving the gym. It sounds small but it really does add to the community atmosphere that this gym provides which many other gyms lack. Furthermore, the service is excellent! The staff are always ensuring the place is tidy and clean. Furthermore, I had some issues regarding membership payments over lockdown which I was stressing about. However, within 5 minutes of sending an email, I got a reply saying that resolved the matter. I have had issues with some gyms that took weeks to resolve. overall, if you are near the Loughborough area and want to get into fitness , this is the gym for you!

Negative experience: DO NOT SIGN UP TO THIS GYM - and I'll tell you why. Very similar to several reviews on here, I can see what happened with me wasn't a fluke. Through appalling communication, deceitfulness and disorganised competence, Anytime Fitness lost me £200. This was through no fault of my own. They failed to log email 5 times when given in person, phone, Facebook, text and email so they weren't able to alert me that even though gyms were closing due to COVID-19 they were keeping the direct debits active. Money flew out of my account for a couple months. Once realising this after the first wave of covid, I called and emailed them asking if it was a mistake. Upon trying to fix this issue they recommended me not to cancel the membership just yet if I wanted a refund as they were still sorting it out. It would “block changes from being made on your account” and a refund might be difficult then. So I waited and waited. And once the year contract was over they sent me an email apologising and explaining no refund was possible. I wouldn't be writing this post if I was even slightly in the wrong. It's a shame because the gym was nice.

Negative experience: Originally, I thought the staff at this gym when I joined were friendly and kind. I know management did have a good rapport with the members. Gym was very clean and well updated. However I did find the gym to have too much miscommunication: emails not sent, freezes not done correctly, membership not ended on time etc. This mainly occured before the Covid period and throughout till reopening. The matter of chasing a refund became incredibly difficult and frustrating, and I highly believe that management were not organised in their approach to the matter, and this had to be raised as a concern externally, leaving more people irritated. As these branches are run by individual management members, I do not think I would use Anytime Fitness again as it was a frustrating experience, and difficult to deal with said people. A shame really, as I initially really liked it. Also a note, was not aware that you had to pay a FULL MONTH's fee before cancellation...

Negative experience: The gym itself is decent, however, this company nor the Lboro branch care about their customers at all. They try to force you into a yearly contract and refuse to refund money they owe you! They took payment from me during the first lockdown and have refused to give me my money back because I have left the gym (due to moving away 112 miles away). DO NOT SIGN UP, you're better off going to a slightly more expensive gym, who cares about their customers and their reputation.

Fantastic experience: Being chronologicallyy gifted (66 years old) I decided to enrol in a gym. After looking at several in the area Anytime was just right for me. The staff were very helpful, kowledgeable and freindly. Facilities are well maintained and the gym is very tidy. I was so impressed with Anytime I joined for a year and thanks to Rach am really ejoying my time at the gym. Rach is a superb personal trainer who listens to what I want and tailor makes my training regimes to suit me. The gym is never so crowded you have to wait around for access to equipment. All my experiences have been positive and I would unreservedly recommend Anytime Loughborough to you.

Negative experience: Glorified hotel gym, poor range of equipment, they have a watt Bike, which is good but it has no monitor so what’s the point, just very disappointing really Unfortunately I got pressured into a contract, don’t make the same mistake as me. Just stay away and go use another gym in town or at the university :)

Positive experience: Decent gym. Smaller than other Anytime Fitness branches that I've seen, but still has most of the required bits. Disabled shower is a bit lethal - if you're not disabled when you go in there you definitely will be by the time you come out.

Negative experience: Great gym, never crowded, friendly and helpful staff. This was my review six years ago. My partner is still with you but the standard has gone down massively. Dirty, no air con, people tailgating others when non staffed, equipment broken for months and months. He still pays the full price and no benefit to it. Awful gym. Avoid at all cost

Positive experience: Great value for money
Positive experience: Run of the mill commercial gym. Good equipment but no standards enforced. Kids leaving the weights, water bottles and other kit everywhere. No etiquette. Management should tighten up and come down on these people instead of having nice drawings on the chalk board.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, fantastic knowledgable staff. Was previously at pure gym and could never get on any machines, now I can my workout done whenever I want.

Negative experience: DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! DO NOT HAVE A CONTRACT WITH THEM OTHERWISE YOU ARE F******! They are big liars trying to make you join the 12-month contract. I've had the worst experience ever! Some of the staff are nice and some aren't and they don't have a lot of equipments.
Negative experience: Be careful. You may get locked into a contract you can't get out of with this gym. This happen to me and I have had to pay a lot of money to get out of it. I definitely would not recommend this gym when there are others in the area that are far more flexible, friendly and helpful if your circumstances change.
