Our comment from FitFit UK about Falmer Sports Complex:
Falmer Sports Complex, located in Brighton, UK, offers a variety of sports facilities catering to men, women, and children. While users have noted the gym space might feel limited, with some equipment needing updates, many appreciate the wide range of sports options available and the overall cleanliness of the facility.
- Positive Aspects:
- Well-organized and clean sports pitches, including a highly praised 4G pitch for football.
- Friendly and helpful staff noted for their professionalism.
- A good selection of gym equipment, including free weights and cardio machines.
- Excellent facilities for various sports, making it a great option for different user needs.
- Beautiful outdoor space perfect for summer training.
However, some reviews highlight the need for expansion and improved parking facilities. Additionally, it can become quite busy at peak hours, which may result in waiting times for equipment. Overall, Falmer Sports Complex serves as a solid choice for students and local residents looking for a well-rounded sports experience.

Falmer Sports Complex: Opinions
Negative experience: One of the worst gyms I’ve been to. Very limited space and equipment, seemingly all weightlifting equipment is old and barely usable, facilities in general in desperate need of renovation. Compared to other uni’s facilities it is really lacking. If you are student here I strongly suggest using Brighton uni’s gyms on other side of the road. The other facilities here like the football pitches are much better.
Fantastic experience: Caters for many sports for men, women and children
Fantastic experience: Great 3G pitch
Fantastic experience: Good vhanging faciliti3s and good new 4g pitch
Positive experience: This is were ballers have a run and kick about in Sussex. It's a flexible moveable and flexible playing outdoor space. It also houses a gym.
Positive experience: Great sports facilities
Fantastic experience: Great
Positive experience: Good gym generally, the benches are wobbly, the preacher curl bar has a grip that I can't use as it's too thin, then the ergs are each on their own sliders and are unusable for me sadly, otherwise the rest is great!
Fantastic experience: Clean and well organised pitches. Easy to book and suitbale for sports events.
Positive experience: People are nice but one of the worst gym I have ever seen no enough place, machines are not diverse always busy.
Fantastic experience: Went to play football on 4g pitch, one of the best surfaces I have played on. Look forward to playing there again.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities and nice staff
Fantastic experience: Nice experience
Negative experience: I would have gave 5 stars if it was not for the rude woman at the reception. I always book at a certain time every week on a time and day, it NEVER changes. Someone at the complex had booked my slot at the wrong time, which was not a big deal. But the woman receptionist with a American/North American accent gave me such a bad attitude and made out it was my fault and I am to blame, rather than sorting the problem. When I explained it must have been her colleagues that got the time wrong, since I always book at a certain time slot. She made it out that I was a liar, instead of just accepting there was a mistake. Maybe she should rethink her career choice, because she hasn’t got a professional bone in her body while carrying that massive chip on her shoulder. The other staff have been fine and had no issues with them.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff very helpful
Positive experience: Nice sports facilities on the uni campus. They seem to have lots sports going on. Gym seems big. Didnt see it fully. Football pitch seemed small.
Negative experience: Expensive and small
Fantastic experience: The land is good for my friends words
Fantastic experience: Great place, friendly staff.
Positive experience: Just needs a lot bigger car park
Positive experience: Great sports facility
Fantastic experience: Always freindly & helpfull
Fantastic experience: Really impressed.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful facilities absolute class
Fantastic experience: Helpful and friendly staff, gym equipment is still relatively new and works well.
Positive experience: Hard to find
Fantastic experience: Great pitches, nice complex
Fantastic experience: Some call this the field of dreams. Others seek solace in the bottom of a bottle from their harrowing experiences here. Either way, a great sports facility that has been home to some of the greatest football players in the modern era. Forget Moore, Charlton, or Linekar. Each Saturday morning sees the arriving of twenty of the top players you have never heard of to fight it out over two forty five minute halves to determine who is the ultimate winner. Forget jumpers for goalposts, forget Wembely doubles, this is all out top quality football from the word go. Long may it last.
Fantastic experience: Great Uni, with all the amenities and more.
Fantastic experience:
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fabulous
Many thanks !
Positive experience: Very little parking at the complex itself, you'll have to walk up the hill from the campus car park if you can't get a space. There was no water when we visited so no showers available. The field that we played on was superb
We have temporary showers available while ours are refurbished. We're glad you liked our pitch.
Positive experience: Has everything one needs ranging from cardio machines to squat stations.
Positive experience: It's a good value gym however it loses a star for being a little dated and small. Sometimes you have to wait in a queueing system to get in but normally that only delays you a quarter of an hour. Otherwise the place is clean, the staff friendly and the other gym goers are also nice and friendly. Would recommend for the every day gym goers.
Fantastic experience: Wide range of goods
Fantastic experience: Amazing place to visit
Fantastic experience: It's quite a workout getting to the place but overall I had a lovely experience
Positive experience: Good facilities + bar!
Positive experience: Accommodation and food very good. Building works only downside.
Negative experience: Pretty annoying they dont update the opening times for holidays.
Fantastic experience: Great gym! I go there everyday and it’s always such a pleasure. Staff are friendly and although the gym is small, it is packed with lots of great equipment. It can get very busy in the afternoon so try to avoid this time.
Fantastic experience: Staff are absolutely lovely, the facilities are good and always well kept and there's a good variety of equipment. Great for students and although it gets busy that's not really a fixable issue so who cares? Wonderful facility! (Side Note- the hot water showers are temperamental as a hurricane, so always check before going for one)
Negative experience: I have tried to go to the gym twice today and both times there weren't any spaces. I'd kind of expect a Uni gym to always be able to cater to the students and paying customers, some Universities provide free gym membership to students
Fantastic experience: Great facilities for students in all aspects but it can get ridiculously busy. It would be great it expanded.
Fantastic experience: Good for its price and facility if you are a student.
Fantastic experience: This is one of two sports facilities at the University, the other one being the Sports Centre. Falmer sports complex is on top of the east hillside on the campus, and it has the more gym-focused equipment with free-weights, as well as machines and bikes plus cross trainer machines. There is a functional room kitted out with crossfit rigs that can be used for pull-ups, squats, dips and other stuff, with removable hooks for barbells. Student discount offered. Outside there is a large cricket field surrounded by football fields, which is great for running and outdoor training, especially in the summer when it all looks beautiful in the sunshine.
Positive experience: Nice gym, good facilities, friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Great selection of free weights, kettlebells, x-rig, deadlift platforms, power racks and cardio equipment.
Positive experience: A little small and getting busy but lots of equipment
Fantastic experience: Good facilities, friendly staff
Negative experience: Sooooo bad
Fantastic experience: Great gym, well equipped, beautiful location with a view of the South Downs, friendly staff and close to campus. The only downside is that it can sometimes be busy enough that there is a queue.
