PureGym West Bromwich

Negative experience: This is the best PureGym I have been to in terms of available equipment. It's just a shame the members don't treat it with respect. Weights are left lying around or in the wrong places. Barbells are abandoned still loaded up with plates. Drinks cans are strewn around the floor. There's a sign threatening a 3 day ban for not returning weights, but that's obviously not a deterrent at all.

Positive experience: Well managed, nice and clean.. good gym, vanilla…

Fantastic experience: I love going after midnight. Very few people at night, which allows me to concentrate on the workouts I plan out for each day. Usually, during the day it gets pretty busy.

Positive experience: No staff available in the midnight

Fantastic experience: Really great range if equipment, very big and open gym layout. Loads of squat racks in a dedicated room. Always clean when I've been. One of the better puregyms in Birmingham in my opinion.

Negative experience: it’s was my frist day with my husband we both joined yesterday our starting day was today,,i got my pin via email within few minutes but my husband haven’t got any so we went there and explained our situation with the staff ,,she was really rude and she said she can’t help we have to wait tomorrow 10 and manager will sort out ,,we explained her we are free after 5 but she said she can’t help,,before we were doing on different gym our friends advised us to join pure gym now i am regretting we both want to cancel the membership

Positive experience: Good Gym, spacious, but they should look after oxygen level inside, i felt it twice there, you will feel it if you come out after exercise from gym.

Positive experience: Busy, some equipment, such as the cable machine, had hooks missing therefore unable to use machine causing delays with completing workout.

Positive experience: Too busy …. Also some equipment and machine need repair.. changing room need more clean and some more ventilation there too smell there … suffocation there especially when gym packed .

Fantastic experience: Reasonable fees ,clean,spacious, safe space especially the only ladies workout section

Positive experience: There's a lot of equipment and the changing rooms are very spacious. Shame about the size of the ladies area though, there's not nearly enough equipment for targeting all body areas and using the main gym can be awkward for a female. I've just transferred from broad st PureGym never had any issues, but this gym seems to be dominated by creepy Indian freshies.. it's obvious why this gym has a female only area..

Fantastic experience: I was a member and was visiting daily with my wife in the mornings very early. Can only speak for that time of day, that there was plenty of equipment, and it was peaceful in there. Only cancelled membership because of childcare issues.

Negative experience: Imagine supporting a genocide, if you don't know what is going on the owner of Puregym basically said "continue to fund israel with weapons" so the genocide can continue and more and more innocent lives get lost instead of wishing for a ceasefire. Absolutely disgusting behaviour

Positive experience: Sorry l have never ever been to a gym in my life so l can't say anything about it l did notice a lot of people use this gym so it must be good l am nearly 78 so l am to old to work out

Fantastic experience: Love the atmosphere such a great place to exercise and get your work out done.

Negative experience: Canceling so meny classes during off peak hours, almost forcing you to pay more and upgrade your membership so you can go to peak hour classes

Fantastic experience: Nice non intervening atmosphere unlike Cape Hill branch where extremely LOUD ( noise pollution ) is forced on people. Music which most people dont even class as music, just loud noise.

Negative experience: I'm a member of this Gym about 4 years,nice place for years now they play music so loud, people got headphones on who is listening your music

Positive experience: Your average gym, round the corner. It does the trick. But my question is: WHY DID YOU STOP THE MUSIC?? There is no music in the gym anymore and it’s just weird without it.

Negative experience: Walked 3 miles to use the gym this morning. On arrival a sign on the entrance said that the ladies' changing rooms were closed. No problem, I thought, no mention of the mens' being out of use. Scanned the code, went in and... gents changing rooms closed too due to a flood. The showers at this place seem to be an ongoing problem. In the mens' changing room there's usually at least 2 showers that are out of service awaiting repair. Those that do work usually only dispense mildly tepid water - I've never experienced a hot shower at this place. Clearly the owners are saving money by keeping the thermostat down low. Anyway, today was a waste of time as I couldn't get changed and, even if I could, I couldn't have showered after my workout, which is pretty pointless. So, after being in the gym for 5 minutes and unable to find any management apart from a bloke who was reparing the floor, I scanned out and walked 3 miles home. If you want a bargain-basement gym experience join here. If you need a changing room and working showers look elsewhere.

Negative experience: Dirty gym and toilets never clean not worth going.The car park is not even free.

Positive experience: Puregym tries and does an excellent job in holding on to the fitness spirit and experience, I'm somewhat satisfied, but there's much work to be done, I cannot give it more than 4 stars however, for I've seen much better.

Positive experience: Been using this place since 2018. Was my first gym and still remains to be my most used one. I've been to over 20 gyms across the country since then, ranging from meat head gyms to other pure gyms, and none can compete. This gym has a great balance between machines and weights, and doesn't pander to people who only do cardio. There are 6 cable machines! Most gyms I've been too only have 3. The staff are friendly too, although you won't interact with them much, they've always been nice to me. Special shout out to Marlon who lent me money the first time I drove to the gym when I forgot my change. Its also 24/7 and even open on Christmas so great for people who don't celebrate or just have insane dedication (im not one of those people). The parking isn't free, however that is the downside of being on a retail park. It does get busy during peak hours, but the gym is much more usable during this time than most I've been too. The only downsides are the awful music and the adverts that play. Its your generic top 50 radio hits, so your lifting while Harry styles 'watermelon sugar echoes throughout the gym. Simple solution, bring headphones, but we have all forgot our headphones or had them die before and it really can ruin a workout, especially when afterwards an aldi advert plays. Small nitpick too but the new aircon system doesn't seem as effective as the old one. Could just be me though so this won't affect the store. Overall 4 / 5. Better music, no adverts and free parking would make this a near perfect gym. Would recommend.

Fantastic experience: Been training here for many years now. Love the recent upgrades to the machines and equipment available. If you want a very competitively priced gym with good equipment then be sure to check puregym out.

Negative experience: How do you want to create a safe place for women but aren’t treating them fair at all. There was a tissue machine on the wall but the spray would always me gone or even empty and I believe people were asking about it and I came to the gym today and they took the tissue machine and the spray holder off the wall. So what must we do, go all the way outside to get our tissues to clean machines? Some people would like to clean their machines before and after. Wellness is cleanliness.

Positive experience: I wish the ladies part was bigger, its a size of a little box room. They need to expand it a little more too small.

Positive experience: The gym is big and nice, friendly staff but very dusty in the girls' gym room. I have been going to this gym for 6months and I have seen it cleaned once. I am doing this review with the hope that I will find it cleaner in the coming days . it is very close to my house and I find it very simple, especially for us who are mothers otherwise I would have changed it in the second month.

Negative experience: I can have a proper workout in this but the management for this gym is not the best, yesterday I arrived at the gym at 2pm I think, and at the changing room for man's a woman was the cleaner, some man's where literally naked in front of her and she seemed very uncomfortable whit that and I was aswell, the cleaning staff in that gym need a little more respect and should not be put in those positions, thanks

Negative experience: Someone robbed my samsung Bud Pro2. I have reported it to the management team, in which details were taken and no follow. I am extremely dissatisfied as myself and my belongings are supposed to remain safe on your premises at all times. However, I don't feel I have a level of trust being at this gym anymore, as simple little protocols can not be followed. I am literally coming to terms with myself, and really coming to thoughts to move gyms.

Negative experience: I previously reported an Asian man who comes in with low cut shorts fondling himself whilst looking at a group of men training. To my amazement he's still at the gym! If this was a woman reporting something so vile the person would have been banned. Others have complained about this individual leering but nothing has been done. I've reported to safespace who have done zero. I haven't confronted him due to risk of losing my membership.

Negative experience: Not happy with the gyms cleanliness/equipment. More people than equipment in peak times and majority of equipment has been broken for 6+ months. Pure gym need to up their game. I have to use nearby gyms to make up for missed workouts at this gym.

Negative experience: More than 6 broken machines, changing room smells like shhh, mess everywhere, AC not working, blue towels flying everywhere, dumbells messed and not on place, water machine not operating, missing half of the handles for machines. This place is one dirty smelly cave.

Negative experience: Use this gym alot but air con broken earlier in the week and no communication regarding this. You could smell the sweat as you walked in and not comfortable to train in. Just be transparent, let people know

Negative experience: It was my first time on entry i saw two staff members sitting I said I'm new reply oh welcome asked if get shown round well it was the quickest welcome i have ever experienced i wasn't shown lockers changing rooms classes i was then left in the ladies area i have never felt so uncomfortable in my life im nearly 57 and I do use gym equipment i would have loved to have been told about a class has i missed why i was there im just glad it was a free pass

Negative experience: No aircon on what so ever. So hot in here makes workout that little less enjoyable

Positive experience: The gym itself is great but the lockers are a joke. Every other one is faulty and doesn’t lock. At busy times this caused a real inconvenience. Get them sorted, been like that for months.

Positive experience: I changed my gym from the Tipton gym to the West Bromwich one as there is more equipment and there’s a ladies only room. I just would like more equipment in the ladies only room and more mirrors.

Negative experience: I've been consistently visiting PureGym for about 7 years. Have tried around 10 of their gyms around the UK. Out of all of them, this is by far the best one. You have at least 8 squat racks, not including the smith machines, among other benefits. When equipment breaks, it gets fixed by the next day. In general, absolutely nothing to complain about. Apart from the noise that is. Every weekday at 17:00 the staff thinks it's a great idea to blast 3 different sources of music at the highest volume. Forget about noise cancelling headphones, you cannot hear your own thoughts, as you will most likely get an actual headache, like me and other members I've talked to. My friend had politely spoken to the staff on multiple occasions about simply turning off the main music line, so that the coaches can still blast their tunes in the group lesson area and the crossfit section (which still doesn't sound like music, but pure noise). Because it feels worse than an underground rave party, the same friend suffered from a severe panic attack and we had to call an ambulance. Hope someone can speak to the staff and I'll gladly write a couple of good reviews.

Fantastic experience: Great classes, fantastic PT in West Bromwich friendly gym. Especially Tim Jones outstanding classes, helped me to achieve my weight loss journey.

Negative experience: So sad that I have to do this because I've used this gym for years,I think there's more broken machines than useable ones and they have been like it for ages,I pay my money I expect machines to be fixed and working for me to use.

Negative experience: I parked my car at the Castle Retail Park to visit Puregym. This was my first time visiting this gym and the carpark. it took me 10min to access the gym, find someone and speak to someone regarding parking and learnt that there will be a charge applied if I wish to leave my car there. I decided to not to use the facility because I had no change and left the carpark as quickly as I could. It is appalling to even think I would be charged with a penalty for £100 just to find out information about the carpark. I left as quickly as I could, it was dark and busy, if there is a grace period of 10min, I believe I was there for 13min. This penalty notice should be annulled. Is there anything Puregym can do to rectify this situation. Absolutely appalling.

Fantastic experience: The best Pure Gym I've been to, it's super spacious even when fully busy and the staff are all extremely nice. I would highly recommend!

Negative experience: So it gets two stars as the gym itself is okay but it can get painfully busy. The main problem though is that there’s a minority of gym users who are ruining it for everyone else. The hairdryers weren’t in the male changing rooms for weeks at one point because someone had smashed them. There’s holes in the walls from people causing damage. Recently there was a spate of robberies in the changing rooms as someone went around breaking into the lockers. They stole money from me and looked through my clothes and underwear. Thankfully I didn’t have my phone in there at the time.
