Fantastic experience: Amazing staff and nice atmosphere

Positive experience: Reasonably priced as gyms so considering it has a pool. My only real complaint is that the men’s showers could be cleaner and there is never any shampoo in there. There are plenty of machines/weights etc and the staff are nice. Don’t bother getting the ‘Champions’ membership though, waste of money.

Fantastic experience: This is one of the friendliest fitness centres I've been a member of (4 months to date). I used to always find gym a chore and a bore but as I get older (now 50yo), I can see the need for regular strength training. And thanks to the lovely staff and PT's here in Macc, they have been most encouraging and really supportive to help me achieve my goals. The classes are fun too. There isn't that many of them but there's enough to provide some variety to resistance training. I've tried Breathe, HIIT, Cranked all with the lovely Danielle. She's a real asset to this gym. The members are lovely too...well all the ones I've met to date....approachable and really friendly. There's little or no attitude like the gyms in London. And it's affordable....about half the price of similar gyms in London but with way better facilities. I do love the pool and I spend a lot of time in it. It's not huge but it's enough to get in some laps and it's clean. It can get busy though, mostly in the evenings, but if you're flexible with your time, you shouldn't have a problem swimming here. And to top it off, the steam room at Macc is one of the best I've experienced. It's large enough to fit a dozen people inside comfortably..and it's hot..and stays hot. It's just awesome. Great place to unwind after a heavy weights session. If I may make a couple of suggestions: 1. A roving Personal Trainer so members can check their technique with a professional. I pay for my PT but I'm sure the younger members who are still at collage or uni would appreciate some additional help to learn proper form and techniques; and 2. Turn one of the now defunct jacuzzi's into a cold or ice bath. But all in all, I'm happy. It's a lovely, friendly, down to earth environment and I really enjoy coming here.

Fantastic experience: Just moved here from Anytime Fitness due to it closing down, and it is no surprise it did really, lots more equipment and free weight options here, even has a hack squat machine, and chest supported T bar row and high row, which is rare for gyms to have these days. Signing up was easy, done in 5 minutes, staff were helpful

Fantastic experience: It wouldn't be fair to give this place any less than 5 stars. The staff here are amazing, and it is truly a place for everyone. I was made to feel welcome straight away and given plenty of opportunities to explore the gym and its facilities as a guest before committing to a contract. Staff reminded me of their promotions and were not pushy in any way. There is plenty of equipment in the gym, a swimming pool, and steam room aswell! Overall, there is excellent value to be had.

Fantastic experience: Best gym I’ve been in. As a member at the Carlisle everlast I am very envious of the facilities that the Macclesfield Gym has. Absolutely amazing, what an upgrade, clearly a lot of money spent on providing the best possible experience for the customers. Special mention to Harry one of your staff who has excellent customer service skills. Well done everlast Macclesfield I wish I lived closer!

Fantastic experience: The gym floor is great! It has everything you need for a decent workout! The staff are also really friendly and are always happy to help with any enquiries.

Positive experience: No sauna was a big downer for me. The gym floor itself is very good. There's a pool and a steam room. No hot tub but I'm not fussed on that.

Positive experience: Good Gym facilities, not the great one but it has everything you need. There is a sauna and swimming pool as well. Few Improvements 1. Sometimes Sauna doesn't work 2. Shower rooms would require more cleaning.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff

Negative experience: I was disappointed when they removed the Jacuzzi, also the Sauna does not work most the time. There are not enough tools for the cable machines. And not enough Dumbbells, you have to wait age to get your right weight. But the staff and the personal trainers are very friendly.

Negative experience: There's more rubble in that swimming pool than at the local quarry. It doesn't look like it has ever been cleaned out.

Negative experience: Half of showers are broken, no body gel/soap. Weird place, for a not the best price for such a low quality

Positive experience: Nice place but I only sign up on 14th of June and have just cancelled my membership it says one mouth notice I have not even been there a mouth and you are makeing me pay for July and August I should only have to pay for July why are you making me pay for August this is a scam your not really giving people one mouth to cancel it should be that if you don’t cancel by a certain date you have to pay 2 mouths but other then this I don’t have a problem with the place the pool is lovely

Fantastic experience: Great gym facilities and great staffs, not the biggest but it has everything you need. There is also a sauna and swimming pool which is a game changer for me after a good workout.

Fantastic experience: Decent gym with great staff. Just a shame the app doesn't say when they close or say when they close for bank holidays. Other than that great place!

Negative experience: Apparently this gym is waiting for a complete refurbishment. We were assured it would be soon..However, in the meantime, it has been run into the ground.I am in no way blaming any of the staff who really are great. But the showers are disgusting and there are trip hazards everywhere. Machines are broken for months at a time. Ok the refurbishment is supposed to happen but they have still been taking as much money for very poor facilities. It is also not that easy to leave. The gym has an ideal position in town and free parking but they have taken this for granted. Reluctantly I've gone elsewhere. I feel bad for the staff who are all hard working and really nice people.

Positive experience: It's OK for me, I only use the spa, however the Jacuzzis are out of commission and have been so for overlong. The steam room when it's working is good but needs attention as it to has failures too often and needs cleaning daily..

Negative experience: Really terrible facilities. Lights hanging out around the pool area. Lights taped up. Broken filter fittings around the jacuzzi. The changing rooms and showers are disgusting. Don’t get me started on the staff. I’ve experienced swearing in the reception area. They don’t acknowledge you on arrival or even stop their conversation to write your car park ticket. It’s a turkey awful place. If I wasn’t trapped in a contract I would like to leave

I’ve trained or taught here for over a decade now, and it has always had that community feel with staff who genuinely want to help! Fanatic location in the middle of Macclesfield, with plenty of parking - what’s not to like!

Fantastic experience: Having used this gym consistently for several years, both as a member and a trainer, I can say it is one of the better gyms in the area. Great atmosphere, good equipment and overall has potential to be a significant force within the fitness landscape once fully refurbished. Yes, it has it's ups and downs, find me somewhere that doesn't. But to dismiss this place due to current issues (given the previous years of turmoil) is similar to knocking Helen Mirren because you've suddenly noticed she has a spot... This place has helped me develop both a business, and a growing circle of friends, and for that reason it is well worth a visit.

Negative experience: Gym has gone down hill sadly. Areas cordoned off, floor tiles missing, app doesn’t work. This gym needs investment.

Negative experience: Completely needs a revamp. Crummy, dangerous, worn out machines, theres a constant water leak from the pool to the gym floor. No water fountain so you need to fill your water up in the toilet sinks. Utter rip off considering you can hardly ever use the pool for a decent swim and how cheap pure gym is and much nicer. It's in very, very poor condition. Don't even get me started on the "spa".

Negative experience: This gym is really convenient but no one's investing in it. Not surprising given the company that now runs it. The water leak needs sorting pronto with a refurb to match. Fungi and all sorts will start growing in there if it's not already. We're all paying enough and have waited long enough for it to get sorted. Spend your membership somewhere else.

Positive experience: I like the Macclesfield branch. There is online booking for members (classes). The pool is my favourite and the 06:00 start gives plenty of time to use the gym as well, before work. The staff are helpful and classes are popular, especially Aquafit in my experience. I am leaving because I'm not attending enough (it happens!). My responsibility. I have been a member on and off, since it first opened. They say 'a change is as good as a rest', so I am going to Bollington!

Negative experience: Fair play, this is a pretty dangerous gym. Seemingly constant water leak covers a 1/5 of it, so water is being spread around the whole floor by footfall. The rubber matting in the free weights has come up, leaving uneven lips of about an inch which are genuine trip hazards. When someone finally hurts themselves sufficiently we'll get a fix

Fantastic experience: Went for swimming and spa. Very clean pool. Steam room was with perfect heating and dim lighting. Jacuzzi generates enough jets to give a perfect massage to your sore muscles. Relaxing and refreshing

Negative experience: Be careful in signing up with Everlast, even if their staff is owning up for a staff mistake in signing up for a membership, the main office will scam you and will not own to their mistakes and charge you for it. This company is a very big scam.

Positive experience: Great gym refurbished was needed and has turned out amazing but I was hoping for later closing times on week ends

Negative experience: Nice gym and decent facilities but be wary of signing up if you are ever likely to cancel your membership in the future. I submitted a membership cancellation request in April (which was an ordeal in its own right) and was informed that "confirmation of the process of your cancellation request shall be received no less than 5 working days before your next direct debit collection". A further email from the same day stated: "In order to process your request please ensure your direct debit instruction is active and all payments are up to date. Your cancellation request will be actioned from today’s date and we will shortly confirm your final payment schedule in line with your required notice period." Foolishly, I took this to be gospel and did not manually cancel my direct debit. Fast forward to July 2nd, when I then received an email stating that "we would like to confirm that your membership cancellation request has been processed with 1 full calendar month notice period. Your final direct debit will be due on or just after the 01/07/2021". I expected that they would take a payment for May as per the understood one month's notice period, but they had continued to take both June and July's payments before conveniently notifying me the day after my final payment had been taken, that it was due to be taken (meaning there was nothing that could be done about it). At this po I have spoken to the team on reception at the Macclesfield gym who have been kind and friendly regarding the situation and have confirmed that May should have been my final direct debit payment. Unfortunately, just over five weeks later, they have still not heard anything from head office/the team in charge of memberships, and so nothing has been done to resolve the matter as of yet. While the facilities are decent and the staff are friendly and helpful, the experience has been spoiled by the crooks at the top.

Negative experience: Serious attention needed. Deep cleaning the ladies showers

Negative experience: I was a member for 4 years when it was owned by DW Fitness, but cancelled after visiting in April this year because I didn't feel safe. People weren't wearing masks, and an EMPTY bottle of cleaning spray had been left for you to clean equipment with before training. The green gym mats were visibly grubby. And an instructor and his client started working out right beside me even though the gym was virtually empty. Not impressed. Have now left and despite giving the contracted notice of cancellation I got an e-mail from Everlast demanding I restart my direct debit. This is very common, apparently. I went back to the gym to raise my concerns this and the reception staff were polite and helpful and sent confirmation to their accounts section that I do not owe the gym anything.

Negative experience: I had a contract with DW not Everlast. It is impossible to cancel membership with these guys. Everlast. Site says you can cancel membership at the gym but staff say you can't and tell you to do it on line. But You get no confirmation when you do. You can't speak to Everlast because message says that due to high demand they can't take calls. Everlast don't refund money they took whilst clubs were closed, didn't advise clubs reopened, loose your email address so you can't access the app and they have changed the terms and conditions without warning and state you must cancel with 3 months notice. And its all your fault!!! Do not join Everlast Gyms.

Negative experience: Despite cancelling the membership with these criminals when it was DW they have somehow despite my cancelling the direct debit been able to take money from us months afterwards. They do not answer the phone and they have a submit form that doesn't recognise email formats other than a .co.uk or .com they don't actually respond to any emails either. Avoid this company and its parent Sports Direct at all cost.

Negative experience: This company is trying to rip us off! We had a contract with DW and they’ve bought the gym. Now they want us to pay two full months before we can cancel. The reason we are cancelling is that we don’t feel safe going to the gym in the current situation. There’s no way I’m coming back to this gym when this is over. You enjoy my money while you can, because you’ve lost a customer.
