Positive experience: The gym apparently has had an upgrade!! I went in today for the first time in a couple of weeks and I cannot see where they have upgraded!! I guess it must have been the weights which I do not use I was hoping for new lockers as half of them in the gym do not lock. I was also hoping for some new mats in the cool down area as the ones there are disintegrating, sadly none of these things have been upgraded . And then I received an email to say my membership is going up! I wouldn't mind this so much if I could actually see what has been upgraded and take advantage of it

Positive experience: Good yoga class. However, the place is scruffy. Needs a good modernisation. It's been like it is for donkeys years. Dirty in places of the studio we were in. Mats need replacing. Changing rooms are dire.

Positive experience: Very nice leisure centre with a great well maintained pool. The lifeguards are very strict though. Although they are only there for our safety it felt as though they were trying to stop me having fun.

Fantastic experience: I went here at around 11:40, with my two dear friends for a cheap lunch’n on a saturday. Ordered a pizza and three iced coffees was served by the waitress called Jessica. Very lovely service. Food came quick. Will come here back soon.

Fantastic experience: After a completely unhelpful experience with a member of staff over the phone, I decided to go in and speak to someone in person. At the gym help desk, Tom managed to sort my account issue within minutes with no issues or troubles at all. Much appreciated.

Fantastic experience: I did my first experience working with the exercise equipment with George and he was excellent. The range of equipment is really good and to suit all needs. I would also the cafe and all the staff are lovely. Recommend this gym totally.

Positive experience: Local pool, regular Sunday splash pool swim with Grandson. Receptionists are lovely and helpful. Pool can be cold some weeks.

Positive experience: The gym is decent but lacking some more of the most popular machines. Only one lat pull down, same with the pec dec and lots of other examples which means you end waiting around a fair bit. There’s a lot of pieces of equipment that are never used, they just need to do away with them to make space for more of the above. Also forget going between 5pm - 8pm which is standard in a lot of gyms to be fair. They need to consider opening 24hours like a lot of the competition. The lack of options in the area is probably part of why most locals choose this gym.

Positive experience: Water was chilly and a strange buzzing noise in the pool area. Hair dryer broken and broken tile in shower area.

Negative experience: Had a terrible experience at horizon waterlooville today!! Decided as we were visiting family over that way today, we would use this center. That was a mistake Went into reception and there was a young man at the desk - I asked if the splash pool was open? He advised it was shut today - just the main pool open! Perfect! Paid for me, husband and my toddler (baby goes free) - off we went into changing room. Also bought a padlock and Googles as we didn’t have ours with us - so spent a lot all in all Got the children ready, blew up arm bands etc - got ourselves ready and walked to main pool, which had a barrier against it saying closed. We walked past 2 members of staff which saw us dressed and heading to pool also / they were cleaning but didn’t say anything And let us walk past It was empty. It was shut My husband asked the members of staff - they advised it’s shut and can’t let us in as no life guards We advised that we had just paid and spoke to reception and was advised only main pool open Safe to say we were not best pleased as had to go and get everyone changed again. Asked to speak to the manager about this When speaking to the manager, he told us the person on reception obviously assumed we were joining on a float session which was in half an hour - why would you assume?? Could have asked?? He also said he was a trainee duty manager We asked for a full refund, also my husband asked for the manager - Paul I believe to call and find out about swimming in Havant? For the timetable etc - he said he could, but this would take time if we are happy to wait?? We asked if another member of the team could call Havant for us whilst we were changing the children - and he was dealing with the refund - we were told NO - ITS ABOVE THEIR PAYGRADE - what on earth does this mean? It’s above their paygrade to call another branch for a customer? After we had been wrongly advised about the main pool? I don’t feel this was the correct way in handling this situation and actually was very disappointing After all this he then called them - and we were told just main pool also, fine at least we know we could go! But how is it above a member of staffs pay grade to help a customer ? Baffled by this comment entirely We were given our money back for the swim session Would just like to point out - that sometimes it’s helpful to apologise and say the words sorry we messed up - rather than just I’m trying to deal with this, I’m trying to sort it out, it’s going to take time so you’ll have to wait. And above staff pay grade to help!!! Very frustrating comments Not a great start to my weekend!

Negative experience: Closed whenever they feel like it.
Hi Frazer, our Christmas and New Year opening times have been advertised and available for over a month. We are very sorry if these have caused you any problems, however we do it to let our team spend time with family and friends.
Positive experience: There are not many times for public swimming unless you go early or late at night. Staff are very helpful and kind and resourceful. The gym is nice and out of the way so you won't get bothered by swimmers. The changing rooms are spacious and nice and clean. Though the showers are a bit lackluster. If you are going swimming I'd recommend to phone on and ask as they do a lot of events which can be good but also a pain if you just wanna swim.

Positive experience: Booking app can be a pain and give reserved status when trying to book which means you can not cancel and system will not show you as booked, but you get a strike even if you sign in. Showers are nice and hot. pool times are restricted so it can get busy and very few evening or afternoon slots. classes are great and well worth trying if you can get in to them. Jan 2024, booking classes means getting up week before at 6am to reserve a space or waiting to see if any spaces become available.

Negative experience: Not a great place for little ones swimming, the pool is really cold and after 5 minutes they were shivering. The women's changing rooms by 10am Sunday morning were unclean, so much hair in the showers which looked like it had been there a while! plus there mouldy, with silicone falling off which is also covered in mould. I won't be rushing back, if I go back at all.

Positive experience: I can only rate the gym but it is well equipped and the staff are alway polite and friendly. The cafe looks OK but I have never used it. The only negative is that it can get very busy in peak times.

Negative experience: Regretting signing up to this gym. They seem to have sold FAR too many memberships, so at any peak time it's not worth going. (which you pay more for!) Left after not being able to get on any bench or find any dumbells between 6 and 24kg as there were groups of kids using about 3 sets of dumbells each. No etiquette. Would not recommend joining unless you can go in the off peak times.

Negative experience: Having a current eye infections and ear, along with my my daughter who’s in lessons here. Also a friend having them issues too and all swim here it’s got to be the dirty pool and changing rooms causing it. In 20years of being a member never have I known it so disgusting as now. Considering to cancel membership and leave as such a shame but my body can’t keep up with the staphylococcus bacteria that is present here.! Always loved coming here past two years it’s gone down hill fast. A real shame no one takes notice of the complaints.

Positive experience: I was hear on the 7.4.23 and I found the place to be great and the staff were lovely and friendly, unfortunately I took my daughter who is 4 and son who is 10 and my daughter from the start complained about how cold it was, I thought she was being a bit silly but after about 15 minutes in the water her lips began to become blue so we hat to get out shortly after as she was to cold other than that was a good experience from the leisure centre

Negative experience: Joined up here when I returned from New Zealand for a visit over Xmas. Although I specifically paid more to have a temporary contract so I could cancel it on my return to NZ I receive an email every month telling me how much I owe them and threatening to refer me to a debt collection agency. I have contacted them multiple times and just get told " yeah those emails are automated just ignore them". Avoid this place at all costs as if you try and cancel you'll need to deal with the hassle and anxiety of being chased for money you don't owe. Luckily, I'm in NZ so there's nothing they can do anyway, but the next person might not be so lucky.

Negative experience: I have a membership contract with Horizon, and I been paying for 8/9 month, I just relocated to another area in which is really far away for me to get there plus I don't drive, and I have try to cancel my membership with their administration, in which this lady said I am not aloud to cancel my contract because I haven't relocated 15 miles away, and where I live right now its 12 miles away, in which is forcing me to grab trains and busses to get there, this is very upsetting, as soon as this contract its over I wont be placing my mom in this gym, now I am paying them money for no reason.

Positive experience: I take my child here for swimming lessons....for now! The changing rooms are abysmal.. They need thorough cleaning as the smell of urine is sickening. It is pandemonium at swim lesson time as there are far too many people all crowding next to the pool, even with a queue system. It is the most stressful part of my week! The cafe serves nice coffee and has an ok selection of food if you want to grab a bite to eat, the service is very slow so you are best to order when you arrive if you want it ready to eat on time.

Fantastic experience: I am an ex-swimming club member and now a Horizon member, great that the membership also provides access to the swimming pool. I used to be a PureGym member but I get more for my money at Horizon by getting to use the pool. The memberships are great value. The gym and its facilities are good, but I use the pool more so I cant properly comment on all the gym equipment. The 25m pool is a nice size, lots of sessions available at different times of the day. Maintained well. Lifegaurds are observant. Plenty of free car parking and have never struggled to find a space, there are also plenty of spaces for bikes to be locked up. The cafe is nice but I dont really use it, the option of vending machines too. Theres a new addition of a pool table in the lobby which is a nice touch. Definitely recommend

Negative experience: Today (2/1/2023)we were swimming there were 5 of us and my siblings are 3,7 and 9 and their policy is you can swim if your over 8 and you have less than 3 children under 8, my mum and us were kicked out and shouted at simply because one of my sisters (9) wouldn't take her armbands off. They said that there was too many children who couldn't swim. We have read their policy it says nothing.

Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied in the pool at all times by a responsible adult (over 16yrs) and on a ratio of no more than one adult to 2 children. Positive experience: Good 25m pool. Lifeguards very vigilant but rules prohibiting the use of training fins and paddles mean this pool is not a place to do swimming training.

Negative experience: The hours for swimming are ridiculous. The only time you can swim generally during the week if you work full-time is 8pm two days a week and that is only lane swimming. The timetable needs some serious work - do you honestly only intend to cater for young children not in school and those who don't work? The timetable pre-covid was far more accessible.
Negative experience: Gym is good but the changing rooms are disgusting. Smell and flies coming out of the drains.

Positive experience: Nice gym with a good selection of kit, but finding the right weights is an absolute nightmare as literally no one puts them away after they're done with them and I've only seen staff tidying up once in three months. The women's showers are also pretty dirty and there are flies coming out of the drains and the toilets flush whist you're still sat on them

Negative experience: I live opposite the Waterlooville leisure centre and can’t believe the noise that comes from their gym classes. We’ve asked them repeatedly to turn it down and they ignore us. It wakes us up at 9am on a Sunday morning, and goes on into the evening, we can even hear it over the sound of our tv. Nothing else seems to be working so perhaps a review might make them listen to us, we just want to relax without hearing an instructor shouting and screaming over the sound of banging music.
Positive experience: I have been taking my daughter here since she was a few months old to learn to swim. Sadly lockdown meant we had to stop her lessons, but we now go almost every weekend. The changing facilities are clean, the pool is always a reasonable temperature, my only complaint is that there aren't many public swimming sessions to choose from, especially during the summer holidays. However, the weekend sessions are at a convenient time, and are of a decent length.

Fantastic experience: I do at least 2 aqua fit classes a week, if I am having a Friday morning off work, I will also do the 9.30 one, surprising how much benefit you get from the water resistance. Great for all abilities.
Fantastic experience: We swim weekly at lessons here. The staff are lovely and our swim instructor Jo is the best. I do 3 lessons in a row as husband doesnt like swimming and the staff have fully supported this during covid.

Pool is clean, staff and teachers are great, and following the lockdown it is quite quiet at the moment ( only 4 or 5 in my daughter's class). Even pre lockdown the swimming pool dedicates to lessons on weekday evenings so you do not get the normal mix of public swimming. It's also great that there is an next to pool viewing seating where you can feel safe and watch progress
Negative experience: Basically gone gone downhill , staff do care much about being polite. Due to the fact the gym has the monopoly over swimming in the area. I wouldn't think they would be in business otherwise .

However, I would prefer more spinning or functional training-type of classes, as well as a revamp on the free weights area. Fantastic experience: Can only comment on swimming. Well organised, and clean. Staff very prompt to advise people who are not following the guidelines e.g. no overtaking in lanes and only swimming in lanes booked. Full praise to lifeguards who have had to deal (and in a completely proffessional manner) with customers who cannot read the fully available guidelines via horizon site and all around the pool !
Negative experience: be warned !!!!! if you join membership with the gyms here the harlads group will give you no end of s#it, they will NOT let you leave without a big fight even if you are out of contract like i am. constant emails saying to email them about leaving and then another saying they need it sent again and again. the centre its self is brilliant but these cowboys who run the contracts department for them ruin everything, trust me i am not the only one

Fantastic experience: Was a great leisure centre before lock down hopefully will be again free parking a bonus.
Positive experience: Friendly staff, cleanliness can be an issue when the centre is really busy. Waiting for the refurbishment on the changing rooms poolside has over run which has caused a few issues and unfortunately although the staff in the centre were very helpful, when they recommended I raise the issue with the management team via the comments box I just got an email saying there was nothing that could be done. So the comments box I feel is a bit pointless really!
Negative experience: Blocked the glass off so you now can't watch your kids swim from the cafe you have to sit in the boiling hot stands. Why do you have loos for children that are gender neutral? My daughter is a girl and my son is a boy, quite simple. Parking is very limited.
Negative experience: My Son and I went there today and we were appauled. Completely overcrowded and no staff to supervise very excited children. Lots of pushing and shoving and my son got kicked in the head but an out of control child. Used to be a regular at this play area but will never be taking my son here again.
Positive experience: Great for the kids, lots of seating for adults. There is food and drink but not inside the soft play (apart from squash or vending machines) so ideally buy coffee etc before going in
Negative experience: I was disappointed today. I visited before christmas 2019 and entry for an under 1 year old was £2.50. Today I was told that there had been a new year increase to £6! I paid, only because my 10 month old daughter had seen the other children and we'd made the journey to be there. The cost is the same for the whole play are but the baby area is small and is very overpriced at £6. Sadly, At this price it is unlikely me and some other mums and dads will return. I find the cost change very unsupportive of families. 2 stars because the staff member was polite.
Fantastic experience: Great staff and facilities, eager to put things right if there's a problem and opening hours make it easy to use!
