Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff and wonderful facilities. Occasionally the steam room is broken but other than that everything else is great. Has a jacuzzi, steam room ,sauna, pool and very large gym with every machine you could want. App links up to all the machines and you can easily log and track your progress

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of the Village Gym for almost 9yrs. During that time I have never had to make a complaint. The gym keeps up to date with fitness equipment and classes. Gym reception desk staff make an effort to get to know you, welcoming you by name as you sign in, which is such a nice personal touch. Fitness staff likewise and they are always willing to help you with advice on equipment. Loads of different classes and as stated these keep up with fitness trends. Don’t use the pool, sauna etc much but it always looks inviting. Changing rooms kept tidy. A well run club.

Positive experience: I am a bit disappointed with the gym. The price you pay is definitely not what you get back. It’s small and equipment is old. The only thing it feels that they do is put good equipment for cardio. If you’re looking to do more than that I do not recommend it. The only thing that I enjoy is the pool. It’s warm and not cold like everyone else’s.

Positive experience: I revisited for the first time in 2 years and many things remain the same - almost really good, but lacking in many areas. With a bar, decent pub grub, pool and well specced gym, this should be a great place. The staff were excellent, the facilities were clean, and overall we enjoyed our time in the pool and restaurant. However, there was a smell from the drains (I think) noticeable from the pool when we first entered and I'd avoid the family changing room if you can as it's just not fit for more than one family. Also, one of our group couldn't get their chosen food order as it wasn't available. And no fault of the gym, but I've never heard so many guys clear their sinuses in one place! Overall, just lacking polish.

Fantastic experience: We spent two nights in the hotel, and enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately we didn’t get time to use the gym, so I can’t review it. We really enjoyed the food. There is a deal on fish and chips on Fridays, and it’s worth having the app for discounts. The breakfast staff worked hard to help us, and all the staff in the hotel and pub were pleasant.

Negative experience: I am very upset that I wasted money here. My spouse and I signed up, and just a month later, due to a lack of staff, we realized we couldn't go because our working hours had increased. We wanted to cancel our membership since we never even went once. However, they told us they couldn't cancel it. Despite never using the service, they continued to charge our card every month. They didn’t deserve any of that money! While we are struggling to earn a living, they heartlessly took an entire year's fees. This situation is completely unfair.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, tho the membership could be expensive(then join more classes and use the equipments they provide it won’t be a waste), variety classes, staff always helpful, opening hours is also awesome for all kind working type.

Negative experience: TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE n staff i tried to cancel my membership because i can't go due to personal reasons but they are not letting me because i somehow have a "12 month commitment" which i did not SIGNUP to or C0NSENT to which they put me on this WITHOUT MY PERMISSON and without even telling me. when i went onto the reception to make my membership at the time they did not inform me or tell me whatsover about anything regrading a commiment term or anything, i tried calling their number and the person was not helpful at all he clearly did not care, the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ever experience. They are ONLY NICE WHEN SIGNING UP after u do it THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU AT ALL only the money.

Negative experience: The customer service is terrible they only want your money and don’t let you cancel your membership when you want to cancel it.

Positive experience: Room as youd expect. Bed comfortable. Basic amenities. Layout a bit rubbish. No socket to charge phone next to bed FE. Really poor breakfast for a city hosting an international festival. No cold meats and cheeses. A small bowl of mixed berries only fruit offer. Ran out of pastries half and hour before close. Othwise standard breakfast good and tasty. The bathroom ok until I looked in the sink plughole and nearly threw up with amassed gunge, hair and god knows what down there! Reported... Saving grace was the lovely, helpful staff. Location good (we don't mind a walk).

Fantastic experience: As a daily member it’s a very enjoyable start to the day. Facilities in the gym area are excellent, constantly maintained and supported by friendly and helpful staff. Similarly the wet areas pool sauna etc also well supported ensuring a pleasant experience for ever visit.

Positive experience: I truly enjoyed the swimming pool, sauna and spa! The female staff were so lovely! Enjoyed every interaction with them. The class instructor Jonathan was one of the best I met. Super helpful and enthusiastic. I enjoyed the gym too. I found the screens attached to the equipment super helpful, showing my speed of lifting and reps. However some of them are low in power.

Fantastic experience: Great equipment, great music (good songs and right volume), good atmosphere, fantastic staff. The only thing I'd change is opening hours. Still better than some other places, sauna and swimming pool closes at 9:30 (weekends 8:30), the showers 30 mins after that. Closing an hour later would ease congestion during the evening both in the floor and in the pool area, especially sauna/steam room and showers.

Negative experience: The option to buy day passes on the website is broken , i would avoid using that and go in person. I like the gym and spa, the staff there are helpful and kind also. This is 1 star because no one responded to my query about overcharge on a day pass in 2 weeks. However ,if you enquire about purchasing a membership someone gets in touch immediately.

Negative experience: Often too hot and stuffy... dreading the summer. Internet is painfully slow and TV pixelates. Always check there's toilet roll! Despite notice saying not to, men drip water everywhere. I'm aware of 3 incidents of slipping and falling, having witnessed 2. Used to be 4 hairdryers...now only 2. 3 times the cost of Pure Gym for pretty much the same thing (I don't swim, so the pool is irrelevant for me).

Negative experience: The gym,classes and trainers are great,I leave this review for the customer service and policy. Big rip off to sign up a deal with them,you pretty much feel like you are trapped once you try to opt out before the contract ends, even with the "freeze membership " option you just extend your contract. I had a serious knee injury,and they really made it difficult for me to finally get off the contract. I won't sign up with them again for that reason, really greedy company.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of the Village gym Edinburgh for 9 years and have never made a complaint in that time. The staff have always been courteous , approachable, respectful and friendly during that time. I recently miss placed my mobile phone whilst in the gym, during that anxious period both the manager and assistant manager demonstrated exceptional customer service, the situation with dealt with the utmost respect & diligence. Thankfully with a positive outcome. If you are looking for a gym that puts its customers first I would highly recommend the Village Gym Edinburgh.

Negative experience: I don't understand why people who shaved at the gym aren't thrown out of clubs... it's incomprehensible how a person can go to a public institution and shave..shower and wc area always super not clean..gym equipment 5/10

Positive experience: Great equipment. But to many people sitting on the gym equipment on their phones and not using the equipment And so stuck on their phones they don't even notice people are hovering around waiting to use the equipment. I wasted a lot of time waiting to get on the gym equipment to do my exercises. The toilets in the gym are a bit dirty and wet and I had to roll up the bottom of my joggers to make sure they didn't get wet and dirty. And only one cubicle had toilet paper. The swimming pool is very small and there is not much room for swimming when it's busy. Great sauna and steam room. And the jacuzzi is ok but only if it's not too busy as only space for 3-4 people max.

Negative experience: I would like to share with you that I am disappointed with this gym. I have been with them for 2 years and I am about to sign a contract for another year, but I don't know if I will do it because I appreciate the fact that the equipment is replaced with new ones, but the basic things that I require are very neglected, especially since you increased the subscription fee and I have purchased the full package. Let's start with the fact that there are often problems with toilets, shower doors are not repaired, so they either have no locks or have curtains and you can't use them and have privacy. The pool today was so dirty I couldn't even see my feet and it smelled like sewage it was a terrible experience I don't know what's going on with this gym in Edinburgh but I'm very disappointed. I pay and demand certain things and it starts to work worse than the cheapest gym I have ever been to in my life. I can also mention that in the women's bathroom, for example, the soap dispenser has not been replaced for weeks, so only one works. The pool areas are very dirty and this happens 90% of the time and I go to this gym very often, 5 to 6 days a week. When I want to buy something at the reception, for example a protein shake, the employees see you, but they don't even serve you and you have to wait even 5-10 minutes to be served because they simply ignore the customers. I just want them to solve these problems as quickly as possible because it's really below the level. However, it is the most expensive gym in the city and sometimes I cannot use the swimming pool because it is simply dirty or take a shower because I simply have no privacy. Many lockers in the fitting room do not close, which is another problem. Often, the equipment in the gym is broken, for example the monitors that are supposed to calculate the number of repetitions. As for the scale you have there, it is often disconnected from the power supply or simply does not work, it was replaced with a new one, but I think it's because the staff simply disconnects the scale from the monitor and then you can't check anything, which is a big minus, because, for example, I weigh myself exactly every week and it is very important to me.

Fantastic experience: Great instructors and an extensive selection of classes, including yoga and both new & classic Les Mills classes. I’m limited to evening and weekend classes due to work schedule, but there’s loads of classes during the day if you’re lucky enough to be free then. Lots of HIIT classes in the evenings too if you’re into that (I’m not). Some classes like Pilates get fully booked really quickly so you need to book early.

Negative experience: Insensitive, rude and absolutely shocking treatment by sales team. They only care to take your money for as long as possible. 0 compassion. I asked to cancel the membership back in early October due to personal and other reasons and lo and behold it is still running due to lying and a lack of coordination by staff. The only thing the team is good at is passing the buck and avoiding responsibility for a simple and effective cancellation which is within my right as a member. These people have no values. What a disgrace of a club!

Fantastic experience: Quite nice spot for some activities in our case especially with the swimming pool. You can book one trial lesson for £1, if you want to have a look and try how it is and then decide if you want to join for the swimming lessons. Blue, plastic cover available for the shoes if you would like to be physically with your kids/kid close to the swimming pool to support them. Also small view room available for families/carriers with TV and huge window to see your lovely ones.

Negative experience: Nobody can help you if you want to cancel, they can't do it in the gym , main office tell you you need to send email once you do that they send you to online account which doesn't work

Positive experience: The pool is good but the changing room lockers and showers needs attention, I have informed them about a broken toilet seat and showers not having hooks and some lockers broken or doors hanging loose when open, nothing has been done so far. The place needs freshened up a bit dated. I haven’t used the gym or any other places in this hotel I’m only member for the spa. Managers should go round and check or even try it for themselves as a customer to see what’s needing sorted.

Fantastic experience: Well-appointed, clean, and well laid out. Friendly knowledgeable staff. If you are looking for somewhere with a good variety of equipment to meet your needs, ood opening times and the option of add ons such as a sauna and pool, you'd be hard pressed to find somewhere better.

Positive experience: The front of house staff were great, really helpful. We were upgraded from a standard room and struggled to see where the upgrade in the room was! Nothing fancy in the rooms and you only seem to get one hand towel between two people (even though we asked for an additional one for the second night, it never materialised, we just got the same again) Basic things were missing in my opinion, like biscuits with your tea and coffee, hair conditioner in the bathroom and plug sockets by both sides af the bed. It's definitely not worth the £200 per night we paid, even if it was during the Edinburgh festival!

Fantastic experience: Great Technogym gear and plenty of space for free weights. Attended for the 20m pool, where there was space for regular swimming as well as lanes. Jacuzzi was a very welcome feat after overheating myself in the steam room and sauna A new boxing area is being built and I'm looking forward to the classes there!

Positive experience: My partner and I have been members for the past 6 months and are pleased with the quality of the gym and have noticed a continued effort to improve the gym kit. Sauna, steam room and pool are all lovely. My only critiques are: 1. The lack of a hyperextension machine, feel this is an essential piece of kit I look for in a gym that is missing at the village. Not only is it compact but also versatile and female-friendly. Would love if this could be considered as an upgrade in the near future! 2. The bathrooms, especially the stalls could be significantly cleaner and should be cleaned more often throughout the day. 3. Continued maintenance require for shower hooks, locks and water fountains as these seem to always be broken/out of order

Fantastic experience: OK, I was going to give four stars, but the rest of the people were too lovely. I attended the pool with my two year old around 5pm yesterday. We walked to the desk and asked the gentleman if I could just walk round to the gym. He told us firmly to wait and I had a good ten minutes waiting around with an impatient toddler who wanted to touch everything in sight. The lady at the desk intervened and said yes I could and she did look confused why her colleague had asked us to wait around the main lobby (if this was my only interaction I would of awarded it 2 stars - customer service is important to me and a smile goes a long way). We walked round the corner to a nice gentleman who helped us check in and directed us to the family room. As a gym regular (before covid and having a baby), I must say it's the best family setup I've seen. Granted if there are a few families it will get overrun, and the toilets could of been cleaner, but this did not distract from having an ACTUAL SHOWER much easier with a toddler and it wasn't biting cold. The changing room lock didn't work, but still the best changing facilities I've seen. The pool itself is OK and a little on the cold side, but still warmer than a few. There is a jacuzzi in the corner which looked fantastic and there is a steam room, sauna room off the pool. Good place to take your little one and I'm happy to report my son didn't want to leave. Thank you Callum and Tom for your assistance on the phone and I look forward to coming back to check out the gym facilities.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and good facilities, gym classes. Sauna and pool are good, sometimes things are left in disrepair for longer so could improve there. All in all i was happy investing in something more luxurious than puregym

Positive experience: Unfortunately came across as a gym with a bar that just happened to have hotel rooms attached rather than the other way around. Room was nice and clean with comfy beds but price per night (excluding breakfast) was horrendous even for Edinburgh. It cost almost as much as my annual gym membership back home! Good to see some low carb food options in the restaurant at least.

The membership prices seem to vary depending on who you are friends with. It’s not a relaxing nice place to spend time with considerate & respectful people.

Negative experience: Quite concerning that customers are barred from using fire exits when the alarm goes off.

Positive experience: Nice gym, nice pool, great steam room. Avoid going after 4pm as a lot of young cocky degenerates with no manners nor respect ruin the environment there.

Fantastic experience: Really do love the Village Edinburgh Gym. Great selection of classes, lots of energy and enthusiasm from the instructors making you want to book the classes. Met lots of lovely people here too, which is an added bonus. The fitness staff and management team are efficient and friendly. The gym is well equipped & modern and plenty of machines to choose from. The pool, is warm and a good size, the sauna, jacuzzi & steam rooms are a good size too, its clean and well maintained. Lots of swim fun activities for kids. I would not hesitate in recommending the Village gym/club Edinburgh - it's fun a place to be.

Fantastic experience: A really bright and open gym with 3 squat racks and a good selection of weight sizes. The pool is clean as is the sauna, steam and jacuzzi. It’s never overly busy and staff are always on hand should you need them.

Negative experience: Be careful joining this gym they make it impossible for you to cancel. Their member services team take at least 6 weeks to respond instead of dealing with it directly in your own gym you have to use a headquarters email so takes months for a response. I had a one month cancellation on joining and they automatically changed it to three months on renewal date. They are now telling me I have to pay for a month I can't even use as I am moving out of area. They requested proof of address after six weeks of me notifying my move and they are taking the date of their email rather than mine thereby adding six weeks to my membership. Furthermore you can't use the app if you have android the website for class bookings barely works, at one point their telephone line didn't either so there was literally no way to book other than going in. Also the jacuzzi must have been closed a dozen times in the three years I've been a member for months at a time with no compensation and no response to complaints. I'm disappointed after being g a loyalember for so long that they are still trying to get more money out of me when I can't even use the gym and they've never provided any help for previous issues! An expensive gym for what it is. Had good enough facilities but when they're not working half the time what are we paying do much for.
