Positive experience: I have been swimming here for past 14 years on and off and it's been great.

Fantastic experience: Love the gym love the staff love the facilities. Brittas empire stand aside.

Positive experience: This is a family friendly leisure centre, no frills. Affordable gym membership.. great pool, squash courts, sauna. The staff are very friendly, lots of swimming lessons during the week and weekends.pool is kept clean. Gym has all the essentials. Change rooms are functional, I prefer to shower at home but they do their best to sterilise it and cope with everyone.

Negative experience: I'm grateful to have a swimming pool in the area, however unfortunately it is extremely unclean and unhygienic. There is a strong smell of urine in the wet changing rooms most of the time. The changing room floors have thick caked-on grime. I try not to use the toilets or showers as they feel so unclean. The pool contains large chunks of hair that float past your fingers and there is mostly always dirt at the bottom of the pool. However, the staff are mostly very friendly! It would be great to see a new leisure centre in Henley sometime or for the council to improve the current centre's hygiene and cleanliness.

Negative experience: Henley leisure centre is old and dated, the swimming pool and changing rooms are disgusting, they're dirty , the showers are shocking , the shower in the disabled toilet/ wet room is better but still not brilliant at least you have some control over the temperature but the whole wet room floods when you use it, the cleanliness of the whole place is awful , and the pool is quite often very cold.

Positive experience: Quite a bit of parking. Although could do with a tidy and freshen up. Not been before, had to ask where to go for swimming. Door to changing room was open. Sign for no house shoes was on the floor so didn’t see at first but noticed couple of pairs shoes to the side so that was a clue. The change rooms smelt quite strongly of urine. The steps into the shallow end move so felt unsafe. No one told you when to get out, not many people sadly. In places the ceiling in changing room had mud on. Don’t seem to be cleaned often. Life guard seemed bored on phone at one point! Seating area is a mish mash of seating. The “comfy seats” the seams were coming away from the seat pads , the tables were grubby. Food/drink expensive from the machines and card only. Tables and posters advertising things but no one to talk to about it, looked a muddle and in a poorly lit area. Went a second time as daughter wanted to swim. (We were visiting family) Again sadly not busy (not advertised enough). No toys or anything out. A lane for lane swimmers (no one in it) and about 6 people . Doors were closed to changing room this time, signs better for shoe area. Smelt better too but still grubby and got in the deeper end as didn’t feel safe on the shakey steps at shallow end. Even some with children getting in got in via the side of the pool due to the steps. Looks like the place could do with an over haul . Will possibly visit again in future to see if any changes but sadly wouldn’t recommend

Positive experience: Just went to use the gym. Plenty of parking spaces. Good array of equipment. Easy to use. Plenty of cardio, free weights was small but didn't limit my work out. If you're going to go more than 3 times ask for a pass as it works out cheaper!

Fantastic experience: Visited place for the MMA gala. Nice, clean, bright and spacious place with fully working bar area. Good if you want to rent a place for any party. With a big parking area. As a down side there is no air condition and it gets really hot there.

Negative experience: My booking was cancelled 1 hour before the activity took place without any explanation. I have not received refund. Only credit to my customer account. Hard to see how I could ever use this facility again.

Negative experience: Staff are great and super friendly, facilities are good. But it’s pretty dirty. Pool is quite filthy and full of hair floating around, not sure how often the changing rooms get cleaned for the pool. I’m often in first thing to swim and it’s pretty grubby.

Negative experience: The staff needs training for cleaning the pool the filters and so on as is always having hair in the water. If you add more bleach in the water will not clean it more quiqly!!!! Is the 2nd time when i get on my feet Folliculitis. Every time dirty floors,toilets, and pool water - everything. Honestly really the level of cleanliness is worst then a garbage truck. In the sauna smell like.somebody made his needs ( pee) and also I saw multiple chunks of hair floating in the pool, the floors were slimy and also covered in hair. The places needs to be close for couple of days and need a deep cleaned asap. The Henley coucil should have a look on this place and check properly !!!

Negative experience: Signed up for a swimming membership last week and have used the pool 4 times since. Every time it has been filthy, floors, the toilets, the pool water - everything. Honestly really not impressed with the level of cleanliness. I wanted to give the workers some grace the first few times but for the pool area to be this dirty for a week is really gross. I saw multiple chunks of hair floating in the pool, the floors were slimy and also covered in hair. The places needs to be deep cleaned asap. I really hope things improve in the next week or I will be canceling my membership unfortunately.

Positive experience: Henley Liesure pool is one of the cleanest pools I've used.

Negative experience: Took my 6yo and it’s was disgusting and filthy. Floors, walls, glass and everything. I tried to go with it to not disappoint my daughter but with 7min she asked to leave. When I asked why “it’s so disgusting daddy”. The Council should do a health inspection ASAP

Negative experience: My child left her towel at the hair dryers, and it got stolen. I went back 3 hours later with my daughter and we looked everywhere. But sadly, it was gone. I asked the staff to check the lost property box but no stolen This is really bad and does put me off going there. Staff are friendly

Negative experience: A decent pool, but usually filthy. Signs up asking people to remove shoes before entering the changing rooms, and shower before entering the pool, but these are often ignored, and the staff do nothing to encourage people to follow these basic rules to keep the place cleaner. Sauna and steam room often not working. Better management of this valuable resource please Better.

Negative experience: -Changing rooms are below par, lots of muddy footprints in swimming changing rooms every time I go to swim. -The sauna stinks of urine- I could only take one breath before nearly gagging from the stench of it! -The showers are ok but they pump out what feels like BOILING water so it's really uncomfortable on your scalp after a swim (I love a hot shower but it was too hot for me) -Swimming pool water was really cloudy last time I went, it just seems like the staff aren't bothered about the hygiene of their facility/or do not have a detailed enough deep cleaning rota in place. -The constant smell of urine puts me off around the pool -Staff are friendly shame that the cleanliness lets them down

Fantastic experience: We just used the pool to swim lengths for fitness. Friendly staff and decent enough basic 25m pool. It was quite quiet which was surprising for a Saturday but suited us.

Fantastic experience: One from best Better chain places. Very clean and simple. Staff is vanish over evening they come only when closing but don't not affect anything. Amazing squash court - not perfect but better than other gyms. One con is no clear signs on the road - when I was rhwre first time it was difficult for me to find the entrance..

Negative experience: I would like to express my concern about the cleanliness of the place in both swimming pool and changing rooms. I visited your centre yesterday, the 7th of September 2022 , I am a regular member as I live in the area however I am thinking of cancelling my membership unless the general maintenance of the pool area improves. It's been going on for a while, last year it was much cleaner, this is probably due to the fact that we were coming out of a serious pandemic... but since a few months it's dreadful. I believe that writing this complaint will help you hopefully to think about more advanced progresses to be made. Thanking you in advance for treating this matter carefully.

Positive experience: Not the biggest gym, but perfect for a decent full body workout. They've implemented a really well thought out process for using equipment, booking system and process for cleaning machines down after a session. Glad to get my membership sorted

Negative experience: I live 5 minutes away and i'd like to use the pool every day. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the place is horrible to say the least. Tiles around look like they weren't deep cleaned for years. Sauna without any proper showers or facilities to cool down or rest after session.Staff is friendly, but other than that quite a disappointment unfortunately.

Fantastic experience: a good place for swimming and keeping fit

Negative experience: The swimming pool is very nice but unfortunately unclean. I found many locks of hair floating in the water multiple times and dirt is visible on the swimming pool floor. Changing rooms and toilets aren't very clean either. It's too bad, because other than that it's all very nice and people are friendly and helpful. But hygiene is important, especially in a swimming pool, so I cannot give more than 2 stars. Please, do something to fix this issue!

Fantastic experience: I am offering five stars on the basis of "value for money" - I pay annually for full membership and it is about £30 a month for which you get a 25m pool and a gym (which i use) plus squash courts and classes (which I do not). The staff are generally nice and helpful, and there is a good-sized car park. This is an ex-public sector site so the facilities are not great if you are looking for 'flash'. They are a bit worn down but they are functional and the swimming pool changing rooms and showers have been done up a bit. If I was paying more (as I have done elsewhere in the past), I would not be satisfied - but for what I pay, I think that this is a good deal. But you can get a good workout in the gym, it is never that busy when I go, and there are not that many places with a 25m pool in the area. If you are looking for something a bit more upmarket, there are no doubt plenty of options to go for, but you will pay a steeper price to join (I don't think there is a joining fee nor a contract here - just pay monthly).

Positive experience: Nice cleaner than it was 3 years ago. Bit pricey

Positive experience: The facilities are great and the staff polite friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the changing rooms is not so good. In fact they are so grubby and dirty II chose not to use them.

Fantastic experience: Is a decent place, enough parking space, is a good place for all ages. I only play squash and I like the courts. I live near to Henley Leisure Centre and I am proud to have this sports complex.

Positive experience: Pool is nice. Changing rooms and men's showers need heating on in the winter.

Negative experience: Very disappointed after first visit. Lot off basic equipment missing. I know it's my fault that I didn't ensure what's in but I am not very demanding person and gym without benchpress, olympics bars and squat rack is not a gym.

Positive experience: Clean venue well trained friendly staff, more for older people than kids, parking can be short at peak times.

Negative experience: I tried to call multiple times but nobody answered, it kept hanging up on me and not giving me the correct detail. I was just wanting to know the age you have to be to go to the gym is it really that difficult to give me an answer? I mean you have one job, to answer a phone and you are incapable of doing that. I really would not recommend this if you are looking for something to go with a quick response system, still have not gathered the detail and I shan't continue trying as it is a waste of time and will just go somewhere else.

Negative experience: Even though I live 5 minutes from Henley Leisure centre, I'd rather travel 35 minutes to Windsor leisure centre and pay a higher premium. None of this health and safety gone mad nonsense there. No, "you cant take your son past that line in the pool because he's a nonswimmer" rubbish. No having your 10 year old son in one place but you and your 5 year old in another. Taking your kids to the deep end and back to build their confidence should be the decision of the parent, not some scared insurance company. I'm 6'4" and am therefore unable to swim in front of that stupid red line. I just spend the time wearing the skin off my knees whilst getting cold due to not swimming. My youngest has now grown petrified of the red line and physically shakes whenever I dare to go close to it. However when my 10 year old was his age he was allowed to hold onto me and kick his way to the deep end and back building his confidence. Health and safety has gone mad with this rule. What will come next to ensure that nobody ever has an accident? Remove the water and pretend to swim? World's gone mad.... I give low stars just because of this stupid rule, however the staff and facilities are good. I would give 5 stars for the swimming instructors and lessons.

Fantastic experience: Really great gym facilities... Just joined but everyone friendly and helpful

Negative experience: Facilities are good however this local community leisure centre ran by an organisation called "Better" fails to support the community any more than a commercially run venture. It actually does the opposite. Why is this? Also in Henley, LA fitness cost around £30 per month on/off peak membership including pool, classes and gym. Joining fee was around £25. Refer a friend and get 1 month free. The gym is a commercial enterprise not supported by our council tax or local government yet it provides reasonable value to the community. The only concession is LA Fitness closes 3 hours earlier on weekends, however on the plus side the school do not use the pool. If I join "Better" on/off peak I must pay £48 per month and so must anyone who joins in my family. So how can the council + "Better" be providing value to the tax payer?
