Negative experience: Absolutely the worse golf course I have ever played. The course is in such bad condition, it is a joke. Fairways are non existent, they are just mud, so you can’t even strike a ball, tee boxes are mostly mats, which you can’t even get your tee in to as they are so beat up, and the greens are pathetic. Had to play the front nine twice as they closed toe back nine. Members were extremely rude, as were the staff. No mater how desperate you are to play a round of golf, don’t bother. It’s not golf anyway.

Positive experience: Great Christmas lunch with a bunch of friends. Nice service, good food.

Positive experience: Played it a very long time ago but still remember it fondly. Some lovely holes.

Negative experience: Never played a course that was so slow. 3 hours to do 9 holes (walked off after 9 holes)!!The greens where very bad which was surprising as it’s been quite mild with no major rain for a few weeks.

Fantastic experience: Nice friendly staff good driving range with trackman

Positive experience: A nice trackman covered range, plenty of bays and good targets. Well equipped shop and very friendly staff. Fantastic kids/junior holiday golf camps which run for 3 hours and you can leave your nippers there, great coaches and a mix of bays and getting out the pitch and putt. The course is pleasant, but the whole place is very tired and dated and feels dark and a little oppressive when I side the buildings. That will bother some and not others.

Negative experience: Booked a last minute round here for my friend as he was a beginner golfer first 18 holes under his belt. I'm used to playing proper golf courses that are kept in good condition and actually have daily green keepers. This course was absolutely shambolic. 75% of the tee boxes were off winter mats. The fairways were like a farm. Couldn't even see what was the fairway and what was the rough. All looked the same. Bunkers didn't even exist 95% of them GUR and just made of mud. Greens were vile and just pitch marks everywhere, greens looked like they hadn't been cut in a few months, no roll on them whatsoever, just a complete disaster of a golf course. This course should be no where near £40 for a round. To top it off once we had finished our round we went to clean out shoes and all the mud stuck to it and the trolley wheels, the air pressure was so bad it was just laughable. Wouldn't even move a leaf stuck on the shoe. Max you should be paying for this track in winter is £15, if you're a proper golfer who cares about the condition of a golf course when playing do not play this course. Won't be touching a foot near this course again. AVOID. Go to Pineridge or sunning-dale heath if you want to just pay and play. They are in 100 x better condition and actually get looked after.

Positive experience: I have been playing the Downshire on and off for 15 years and recently decided to visit the course after a while. The course has been very well maintained and the greens are in good condition considering the time of year. It's also great value at £27 for 18 holes after 2pm whilst the light is still with us. However they like most golf courses are pushing it a bit by what seems like cashing in at golfers expense. By this I mean they are booking too many 4 balls and not leaving a big enough gap between groups. This meant we got stuck on every tee with two groups waiting on each tee before us. This meant a very uneventful experience and not worth the money. I suppose you get what you pay for. The clubhouse explained when I spoke to them whilst waiting on the 4th tee after 1 hour to play 4 holes that it's not good enough, they said it is what it is and some will be slower. Best to re visit when the sun is at its highest and out for longer. It's unacceptable to take 3 hours to play 9 holes and not finish the round due to their profiteering.

Negative experience: I started out using the range and was a happy customer. Good size bays and tech to help you practice and improve your game. Played the course at the beginning of November and regret that decision. It's a clay base, so it's like walking through a bog, leaving everything caked in clay when youre done. Gave up after 13 holes and won't be back any time soon.

Positive experience: I would like to say a very big "Thank You" to you and your staff for hosting our father's "wake" on Friday 23rd August. The event went down very well, the food was very good, and if I'm not mistaken all was eaten apart from a few small fairy cakes! Thank you again to you and your staff

Fantastic experience: Nice and relaxing golf course with a very spacious layout. The service was excellent, making our experience even more enjoyable. We played 18 holes, and the course wasn't too busy, allowing us to enjoy the serene vibe fully. A great place to enjoy a round of golf!

Fantastic experience: Course in lovely condition at the moment. Driving range with Trackman works well. And a good practice green

Fantastic experience: Nice complex, pitch and putt was very short, longest hole was 77 yards, with most being between 40-50, Zack in the pro shop was exceptional, very friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: Played twice in the last 2 weeks. First Sunday about 2pm. This eve fri 4.30pm. Had to bail after 9 holes both times due to chronic pace of play. Cramming 4 balls on every 8 minutes is ridiculous. Terrible policy to run a course this way.. Never coming back.

Fantastic experience: Society day on 1st June (Frogs). Very well organised and welcoming, course was in great condition with a nice variety of holes and very good, greens. We had a lovely full English to kick us off. The staff in the bar area were very friendly.

Positive experience: The course is playing ok to a degree, the T areas on a lot of the holes were in poor condition again, was told due to the weather but feel it could be maintained better. Slow play again, marshal's should be more visible to ensure play is kept up to speed.

Positive experience: Last played this course in 1976. A true delight to return to with my fellow Bracknell school boy friend and play it again. It has matured and plays well and despite a challenging season, is well presented. My one negative would be that it desperately needs fairway marker posts at 150/100 yds. So simple and one of a very few courses in the UK without any - it’s a great shame this lets it down. Hence the 4star.

Negative experience: 3 hours to play 7 holes, a queue of 3 groups in front of us and 3/4 groups right behind us. why would you you have tee off times and not stick to them, this wasn’t down to the golfers themselves but the management allowing two groups to tee off at the say time. All the golfers we spoke to say “this is a regular thing here” It’s a shame because it’s a nice kept course, staff in the pro shop just stare at you like your something on the bottom of there shoe, After stay hello and how are you I didn’t get a response.

Fantastic experience: I came here with my disability group. They did a great job of hosting us for our quiz night. The food was excellent and the service was brilliant.

Negative experience: The staff are very poor in the pro shop. They were very confrontational when I tried to ask why my driving range ball tokens weren’t working on the new machines.

Positive experience: Course in great nick considering how wet it has been and how cold it was on the day. Always a good challenge

Positive experience: I play this course regularly and it's a lovely course ,I feel sorry for the green keepers who are fighting an uphill battle against idiots who won't repair their own pitch marks ,we played a 3 ball on 4th September , on the last 4 holes we repaired over 20 unrepaired pitch marks between us,we didn't have anyone following closely so had the time , if you play this course please take a few seconds to repair divots and any other marks you inflict . On some days it can get slow with society competitions playing ,but still enjoyable .

Positive experience: Lovely course with some challenging holes good lay out with nice doglegs with mature oak tree's.. Definitely worth a vist.. Fairways a bit on the dry side but apart from that not to bad

Negative experience: Just under 5 hours for a round yesterday. Had to wait on every tee and every shot. Awful experience. Course martial did nothing about the slow play. In fact we didn’t even see him for the entire round even though it was 26 degrees and he was supposed to be selling drinks from his cart. It’s such a shame as it has the layout to be a good course, but it’s not looked after and their tee times are obviously too close together for the quality of players on the course.

Negative experience: Obviously the aim of this course is take your money and screw you. I’m sorry but over 4 hours to play 13 holes in a two ball(we walked off) is just not acceptable. Flatly refusing to waive you through and a total disregard for the rules and the course. The pro shop staff appear not to care, complaints are water off a ducks back but stupidly I paid the money. Never again.

Fantastic experience: visited the golf club the other day, have played the course before however only went on the range on this occasion. amazing upkeep within the shop and driving range. Had some amazing food in the restaurant area after practicing on the range , really tasty and good quality! the restaurant was nice and tidy and well looked after, as always lovely staff who made the visit enjoyable. will defiantly be back

Negative experience: Poor customer service.

Negative experience: DO NOT COME HERE. Weather was Brillant so me and my pals went down for a full 18, didn’t not expect 45minutes per hole due to over booking and absolutely disgraceful management. How can you possible enjoy a game of golf, when it comes to actually playing you’re waiting 45minutes to hit your next ball. We were told there was a gap behind us organically, Brillant. However this was completely and utterly untrue as there was a que of 4 groups behinds us and a que of 5 groups infront of us, after the 9th hole we went inside to value our issues and we where completely shut down and told that it wasn’t over booked? How could that possibly be true? It just shows an incredibly lack of care and understanding for golf, they only care for the money and nothing else. DO NOT COME.

Negative experience: Went out today for 18 holes with 2 mates really looking forward to play the full 18. Lovely weather so a great day out for it, and i’m sure lots other had the same idea, however the course was extremely over booked and i’ve had this same experience before when playing here. For every hole on the front 9 there were 5 groups playing on each hole which is just ridiculous, queuing 10 plus minutes each time just to hit a tee shot. I’ve expressed my feelings to the chaps in the club house who were not interested in helping me in the slightest which is terrible customer services. I will not be coming here again as £40 for 9 holes taking 4 hours is just unheard of anywhere else i’ve played before.

Positive experience: Some nice changes and the course has opened out although the pro shop staff need to be all on the same team sheet with pricing. Update, the works to the course has vastly improved it and the greens are superb

Positive experience: We have attended two different events at this location. Sadly a funeral wake and secondly a surprise 50th. On both occasions the food was excellent, the staff lovely and the location itself clean spacious and tidy. I would recommend this location

Positive experience: Course in great condition, greens are a decent speed , fairways green and tidy . Food excellent and friendly helpful staff . My only complaint is the sand in the bunkers , not enough sand and very compacted .

Fantastic experience: War vor ein paar Wochen auf dem dort. Beim Einspielen hab ich noch jeden Schlag verzogen (Bälle waren aber auch echt mies), aber der Kurs danach hat es wieder wett gemacht! Schön, klassich englisch. Genau wie man es sich vorstellt. Grüns wie mit der Nagelschere geschnitten, mitten in einem Wäldchen. In Deutschland hätte mich das Greenfee ein halbes Vermögen gekostet. Danach waren wir noch auf ein Bierchen an der Bar. Ganz nett dort, gescheites Bier haben sie aber leider nicht, irgendwie ne Volkskrankheit auf der Insel. Das einzige deutsche Bier war alkoholfrei - aua. Immerhin war der Barkeeper auf Zack und hat an meinem Akzent direkt erkannt, dass ich mit dem Üblichen dort nicht glücklich werde. Ein Guiness wurde es dann und ich muss sagen das geht dann doch ganz gut die Kehle runter. Um mich für die Rettung in höchster Not zu revanchieren, hier ein Tipp von mir: Wenn du dir deine Mähne schneidest, reicht's bestimmt für einen besseren Job. Das Köpfchen dafür scheinste ja zu haben

Fantastic experience: I went to make enquiries regarding taking up a new sport and was met by Sam a lady behind the desk in the pro shop. I was immediately put at ease. Sam talked me through the facilities available for a beginner and how as I progress I could have support, coaching and increasingly technical equipment that she'd be able to help guide me through. I'll be coming back soon. Top team.

Fantastic experience: Used the driving range. Had a drink later and was in car being driven out of the car park. Barman stopped us and handed me my wallet. I had left it on the seat. Fantastic service.

Negative experience: The worse bunkers I’ve ever seen will cost you a good score absolutely shocking my ball and club had mud on them

Positive experience: Played the course yesterday and although I’ve played worse…..I’ve definitely played better for the £32.30 (random amount) price tag. Quite a few tee boxes were uneven and dusty. All of the greens were rock solid, patchy from disease/repair and had just had spring/summer maintenance as huge aeration holes and had been sanded. The course layout itself is challenging enough with some water and ditches coming into play. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only played the full 18 and had a quick drink after. It’s 18 miles away for me so I wouldn’t make the trip to visit again for the price to quality ratio unfortunately

Negative experience: The most unfriendly welcome I have ever had at a golf course. Booked a 10am saturday morning tee time by phone 15 days in advance. Only to be told on arrival there was no booking and that I couldn't possibly be right as it wasn't on the system... and you can't book that far in advance, I suggested they needed to tell that to the person that took my booking... Well no need to worry about future bookings as I will never play this course again. The most arrogant customer service I have encountered... if I could give less than one star I would!

Fantastic experience: Great place and the breafeast wow great.

Negative experience: Just played. The course is in terrible condition. Most of the greens are at best shocking. I know there is a problem with a fungus but they are still charging full rate to play the place . When you phone and book and before going out to play, nothing is said. Sad as this used to be a great place to play. No wonder so many members have left and pay and play people no longer bother. At least tell people before they part with their cash. Be a long time before I return or as a practice round for £10 at most as that’s how bad the place has become.

Negative experience: Having played and enjoyed this course last year I was looking forward to revisiting but something has gone horribly wrong with the greens.These are without doubt the worst greens I have ever played on.The state of the greens had nothing to do with seasonal treatment but were pitted to such a degree that accurate putting was almost impossible .Such a shame as the layout is very good and the meal after golf was excellent but the golf was completely spoilt due to the state of the greens.

Fantastic experience: Visited yesterday to use their function room. One of our party was struggling to walk from the car park with a crutch so a lovely chap called Neil offered a golf buggy to assist. Nothing was too much to ask.
