The gym has everything I need and is open 24/7, which allows me to work out whenever suits me best regarless of what time it is. They have some pretty good offers and benefits as well, which are definitely worth signing up for.

Negative experience: Hi sorry I got to put this on here just not happy with this company at all if you sign up be careful when you want to cancel your membership when you ring up and what they do they give you the wrong information over the phone it’s so hard to cancel your membership when they tell you you don’t need to pay anything else then 24 days later come back and tell you have pay for the month after too is shocking why can’t they tell you the right info I understand why on here they taken off reviews because I know they be loads out there for this gym

Negative experience: The gym itself is good but haven’t been able to go for ten months due to illness, still payed though, and I’ve chosen to cancel and will end up paying £50 in total to cancell a gym I can’t attend due to illness. Surely the ten months I payed without attending is enough?

Fantastic experience: My brother and I have been training here for a while now and can firmly say that out of every commercial/chain gym in Newcastle/Gateshead, this is by far my favourite! I normally do not like training at commercial gyms as they are often too busy, lack specialist equipment for particular types of training (e.g, calisthenics) and often have a very robotic/unhuman environment. HOWEVER, Anytime Fitness goes against the usual commerical gym stereotype. Contrary to what other reviews have said, this gym is rarely at full capacity, and you have more than enough space/equipment to work with. Lets put it this way... At TheGym and Puregym, you almost always have to ask to work in with others during peak times, and I have never had to ask to do this here. They accommodate for a variety of training styles with a calisthenics area, boxing equipment, freeweights, cardio, machines/cables ect. There are private changing/showering cubicals, so gone are the days of old men flashing at you in the locker rooms. And last but not least, the staff here make training at this gym feel less like the "corporate" enviroment most commercial/chain gyms offer, and they actually provide a personal touch. Regular chats, advice, checkups. Shoutout to Gary, Angela, Laura and Josh for being such an approachable team, and always being focused on their members progression. There is so much more I could say about this gym but I'll let you show up and find out for yourself. Big love, Leo

Fantastic experience: I like the fact I can go at anytime

Negative experience: The price of the gym membership is exaggerated in relation to the size of the gym. The gym is very small and has limited equipment. I do not know why they sell memberships, make discounts, and bring many people free and knowing that the gym does not accommodate this number of people!!!. The gym is busy at all times except in the morning 4:00am so If you David Goggins You will adapt to this gym.. Compared to the pure gym next to it, it is better, cheaper and bigger.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been attending the gym for over a year now and this all started with my personal trainer Sarah, who was absolutely amazing. I then officially became a member in November after gaining the confidence to start off on my own with thanks to Reese. Reese has particularly helped support my fitness journey with available support to answer any questions with regards to my training. I feel valued as a member and absolutely love attending this gym, I often call in the office for chats and I’m always greeted with a smile. I would like to thank Reese and all the staff at Anytime fitness for this wonderful experience. Thank you! X

Fantastic experience: A really well maintained and excellently equipped gym. I only go at non peak times and it's extremely empty when I go. No waiting for equipment or overcrowding issues at all which is the norm at most other gyms. Membership is adequately priced imo as you get what you pay for. The cheaper gyms around are cheap for a reason. I've been with anytime fitness for many years and it's because the quality is evident. I've only had brief interaction with the staff and they were extremely helpful and pleasant. Lovely gentleman showed me how to use the car ticket machine and everyone always has a smiley exterior - this may seem like a small point but it has a huge impact on newbies and people coming in. The gym can be extremely intimidating and there are alot of stereotypes about "gymbros" so to see helpful and nice staff helps welcome people. The toilets are well cleaned and presented and 2 hours free carparking makes the gym incredibly accessible. There are no negatives about this gym in my opinion as it provides all the expected amenities. Only improvement i could potentially mention is perhaps a better "chill out" area, maybe a sofa, more tables and perhaps a microwave that I've seen at other anytime fitnesses although space may be an issue. But that's really reaching for improvements and maybe being a little greedy and desiring perfection. Overall 10/10

Negative experience: I received the shock of the year and blackmail from anytime fitness, I have only been to the gym once and I did direct debit for the monthly plan, but since the ist day I went there, I have not been there because I don’t like their hospitality and i don’t have the time to go again. But I was surprised when they said I am in arears which I paid and I told them I want to exit the contract, but they said they can’t cancel until I have proof of illness or moving.I had to pay .we agreed to freeze my account which they did till December But was surprised when they gave me another bill in December to pay. Now they sent me a bill of £122 on feb 5 and reported me to ccs collect i received a letter this feb 22 morning that anytime fitness said I am owing £395.40, which is ridiculous. If you want to rip people off,do it in a way that is human.if you are sure of the services you render, why bind people to a contract that most people are not aware of.as you know that this is important why not emphasis on it when people are signing the contract. I stand on it that I was not aware of this ridiculous contract which doesn’t have an exit plan.and it is very very painful to be requesting , threatening and forcefully collecting money from people without using your services

Positive experience: This is a great gym. Regular staff are super friendly and helpful. Brilliant community. Gym is never crowded, good range of equipment, excellent free weight space. Clean with great changing rooms. I love it. It only misses 5 stars due to the two PTs who are utterly uninterested in acknowledging your existence unless you’re an 18 year old female and otherwise all around with faces on. They don’t impact your workout but it does detect from the generally welcoming atmosphere. Best gym in Gateshead easily.

Fantastic experience: Ok few bad vibes today

Fantastic experience: I've tried a few gyms in Gateshead and this gym is definitely the best I've been to. The staff are very friendly and helpful if you have any questions, which is always good for people new to the gym. It has a good mixture of male and female members and staff as well as male and female PTs and is not as intimidating as some gyms can be. The staff run friendly competitions and highlight members on their social media accounts which are worth a follow. For a gym that is smaller than many others it packs in a lot of equipment and is actually a lot better equipped than the others I have tried with several cable machines, TRX, and all the resistance machines you could need. I usually don't have to wait long for equipment but with only two bars and racks for squat, deadlift, and bench press these are usually in use so have to replan my workout on occasion. There is also a lack of adjustable and flat benches to use as an alternative. There is always cardio equipment available, though. Apart from this it's the quietest gym I've ever been to and it's usually a pleasure to visit. The membership rates are very competitive, it's open 24 hours and conveniently located in the centre of Gateshead. Free parking in Trinity Square is available to members.

Fantastic experience: The gym is really clean with plenty of equipment for many different excercises for all body parts. A staff member is available all the normal working hours to help with any questions. A really positive is that the gym is rarely busy so you can really take advantage of most of the equipment. Also if you're planning to be away for some time you can just freeze your membership so you're not paying while you're not using the gym.

Fantastic experience: A big shout out to my mate Andy at the Gateshead Anytime fitness! This location is the best Anytime Fitness I've been to in the US or Europe. Very well maintained, spacious and ample equipment for a great workout.

Fantastic experience: Really welcoming gym, I’m always quite anxious about gyms because I’ve had bad experiences (over crowding, rude members and staff) but I feel comfortable here! There’s so much available too and staff are so helpful and don’t look down on you when you ask how to use things. Definitely the best gym in the area/north east! Great experience.

Negative experience: Can't knock the gym premises or equipment as they're top notch. Trying to cancel my memberships for myself and my wife after the year long contract had ended was not such a smooth and pleasant experience as firstly I was forced to pay another month at full price at a total of £65.90, I didn't argue with this as I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of complaining. After cancelling my direct debits I was contacted by the gym asking mè for permission to reinstate the direct debits to keep the membership cancellation up to date on their end and I was ensured no further funds would be taken from my bank. Well as you can probably guess this was a blatant lie and I was billed another month at full price for both memberships. I have again cancelled the direct debits and I am now receiving texts and emails from the gym threatening that if I do not reinstate the direct debits I will build up arrears because of missed payments and this will affect my credit rating. Its an absolute joke and I definitely won't be returning.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been training here for the last 4 months and I am really impressed with the precautions that are put in place for COVID. The gym is clean and spacious and never too busy to train efficiently. I’ve noticed all members cleaning the equipment before and after use and the staff are always friendly and polite.

Fantastic experience: Really can't say enough good things about this place. Andy, Nichola and the team are fantastic apologies for those not directly mentioned. The gym is top notch with superb kit and facilities, well looked after and well maintained. I really can't recommend this place enough. In my opinion its the best in the locality of gateshead and Newcastle City Centre .

Negative experience: I have been currently working away in newcastle. As I like to keep fit I always try to find a gym when I'm away from home and I found this gym.I applied for the 3 day trial and got told it was ok until I turned up and they said no so had to pay £7.50 for the session. I just think it's a joke how they charge £7.50 a session, as I was going in 3-4 nights a week! Theres nothing that caters for people who are working away from home!

Fantastic experience: I've moved over from puregym, it's worth the extra cost to have a more comfortable training session. Due to having a lower membership your never waiting around for equipment, there no one eye balling the bench for when your done. The staff are friendly and will happily help you out and always keen to give advice 24 hours a day so no excuses not to get back into the routine of things

Fantastic experience: Joined this gym when I moved into Baltic Quay, the pure gym up the road was another option but I really preferred the smaller, chilled out vibe at anytime fitness. Great equipment, lovely friendly staff and never too busy despite it not being the biggest gym! An added bonus that the communication during COVID times has been great and the re-opening has gone smoothly with all members I’ve seen adhering to advice about cleaning etc - highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Just wanted to thank staff or gym goers who gave us access to facilities at the gym for our friend who had a reaction to her Parkinson’s medication when driving back from the theatre! Having already been refused to use facilities at the car park we were in we drove to the nearest place which would still be open on a Saturday evening! Thank you very much, your empathy was much appreciated.

Negative experience: **TRAPPED IN CONTRACT** do not join this gym. I was lied to when joining and told I could end the contract if I moved away. When I came to ending the contract they told me I could not because I was moving somewhere else that had an anytime fitness in the area. Staff and managers admitted to me that the woman who told me the information when i joined had been repeatedly giving false information to customers and had now (rather conveniently) left the company. I am now stuck in this contract and the gym were not helpful at all in this distressing situation where, as a student, it is costing me lots of money when I can’t even use the gym!

It's a really great gym to be a member of and they have really delivered on some of the suggestions that have been made to improve the club. I can't recommend this gym enough, and the fact i can workout WHENEVER I WANT is awesome!!
