Our comment from FitFit UK about Liverpool Aquatics Centre Lifestyle:
Liverpool Aquatics Centre Lifestyle is a welcoming facility that offers a variety of activities suitable for all ages. Visitors appreciate the excellent swimming pools, including a well-maintained 50m Olympic-sized pool and various gym classes such as yoga, spin, and pilates. The clean gym is equipped with modern equipment, making it a popular choice among locals and fitness enthusiasts.
Many users have highlighted the friendly and supportive staff, from personal trainers to class teachers, contributing to a positive gym experience. Parking is also noted as ample and free, making visits more convenient.
However, some recurring issues have been pointed out by guests, including inconsistent opening hours and problems with pool accessibility due to crowded conditions or abrupt schedule changes. Several users expressed concerns over the behavior of a few reception staff members, who have been described as unhelpful or rude.
Overall, while there are areas for improvement, Liverpool Aquatics Centre Lifestyle remains a favored location for its high-quality facilities and community-driven atmosphere.
Liverpool Aquatics Centre Lifestyle: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Nice place I liked, good staff
Positive experience: I don’t know what is wrong with those people nowadays whenever I go gym to work out must machines are blocked by people instead of doing exercises they use phones for long time. This not home if you think you are really lazy then go home. I hope manager make rules for this
Positive experience: Decent council run gym facility, but they don't follow the opening times as advised on their web side. So many time open and close time change by staff without notice.
Fantastic experience: Went to the gym/pool back in 2010/2011. Great place
Fantastic experience: Lovely place!
Positive experience: Spent two days here for Rascals 24 lifesaving comp. Good pool, comfortable viewing gallery. Good large carparks. No food availability and the vending machines were poor too.
Fantastic experience: Never used thd pool, however they a great variety of gym classes, from spin, weights, yoga, pilates, etc.
Negative experience: Went for a GP referral that I waited a month for to be told it was at 10am when it says on the letter I was given by a member of staff 10:30am. Staff look down on you for getting GP referral letter very very unhelpful staff to say the least.
Negative experience: The PTs and the class teachers are excellent, however the reception staff are lazy, unhelpful, and do not care. Since June I have a medical condition and I cannot use the gym. Called in July & August to cancel my subscription, was told cannot get my money back but they have cancelled it. Sometimes they don’t pick it up at all. Called again in September after finding out they had not cancelled and that I had been robbed (sorry I mean charged) again, called them and a lady said my subscription is still active and need to fill in a form to cancel my subscription. Also told me they had taken off money for my subscription for October as the direct debit is being taken in advance. After sending the form via email she confirmed she got it and would send it to the manager. Also called her to verify. Shockingly tonight I discovered my subscription is still active. What else should I do to cancel and stop getting robbed off almost £30 every month?
Fantastic experience: Amazing facility but you need to check before you go as quite a lot of cancellations
Fantastic experience: I have been suffering from sciatic nerve pain in my lower back and legs, as well as shoulder and neck pain for over six months. The pain every night makes it impossible for me to fall asleep! My GP has only given me painkillers after seeing me many times! Suggest me physical therapy! I am glad to have met Dasha here. Every time I receive treatment, I feel much more comfortable in my body!
Fantastic experience: Amazing swimpool
Fantastic experience: The swimming pools are great. 20m & 50m pools. Lockers, changing room & bath areas are all in good condition. Remember to take a 20p coin to use the lockers which you can take back at the end. Large parking area and is free.
Negative experience: Botox blonde on front is extremely rude for no reason. The doors to the pools/ changing rooms are always left open so it it’s freezing.
Negative experience: I am writing to express my concerns regarding the behavior of the reception staff. I work in children's services and came to collect a few gym passes that were sent by social services for the children in our care. I visited today at 3:30 PM, and I was disappointed with the lack of professionalism from the reception staff. When I asked for a gym pass using the provided details, the staff member initially claimed she did not have the one I requested. However, she later gave me the exact pass I had asked for. Her mannerisms and body language were unprofessional and inappropriate. I believe the management should address this issue and consider hiring staff who are trained to interact politely and respectfully with customers.
Negative experience: Used the pool for the first time today with my son. From reading reviews here perhaps we would have been better in the 25m pool rather than the 20m pool although nobody explained this at the the centre. When we arrived the sign that shows where the deeper end begins wasn't put out however shortly after my son and me swam up that end the staff pulled the sign to the waters edge to make it now visible. Now this was out I took the hint and kept my son in the shallower end however as a 40 year old, 6 foot man I am perfectly capable of swimming where I choose. Unfortunately the dark haired fishwife who moonlights as a "lifeguard" decided she would shout aggressively at me for straying in the deep end when trying to teach my son (who is a competent swimmer for his age and was treading water at the boundary to the shallow/ deep end). Apparently you have to prove to this woman you can, in her exact words, "swim 2 full lengths underwater without coming up" before swimming in the 1.5m deep end. Sorry I came for a swim not to turn into a fish. Add to that two other staff members continued a public argument in the pool area (one female in dark polo shirt walked through the pool area and a male with a blue polo shirt chased after her shouting "I'm not lying to you) and the changing areas are disgusting, filthy and covered in chewing gum, not good first impressions. Will not be wasting my time here again.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic swimming centre. In the UK, it is very difficult to find a great indoor 50m competition pool; and we have one in Liverpool, which is pretty amazing. My son (10yo) and I had a great swim here. We have been to the London Aquatic Centre. Although it is no comparison for that, London Aquatic Centre was an Olympic competition pool. The entry price is also very reasonable as well. I have been there twice for my short stay in Liverpool. Absolutely loved it. Highly recommended if you are proper swimmer.
Negative experience: very dirty place, pool only hair, water stinks. people bathe in their clothes. the employees do not do their job well. after visiting that place my children, vomited and had fever….
Negative experience: Not the best facilities. Adult swim at awkward times. Always a queue to get in as their pass scanner has been broken for months.
Negative experience: Staff have no manners. I was hoping to become a member but after the experience with reception, I don't think I'll bother. Ive been told different information by staff members about adult swim times. I went there to join the adult Swim that was on the print out I had off reception yesterday and today, was bluntly told "Pool is Full! When I asked if there was a place to sit and wait, a canteen etc, like most decent pools have, I was told no, go and sit outside and wait. The gentleman with the glasses on reception needs to go on a customer care course. I was a pool lifeguard and worked in centres a few years ago, I'd never dream of speaking to customers like he did. Stay away, if that's what you get at the front desk, I'd hate to think what the lifeguards attitude is like.
Fantastic experience: Very good place for exercising with kids
Negative experience: I have used this park for over 11 years. I have had many lovely quiet walks here however this park is turning into a festival/ events spot and it’s starting to really annoy residents like me. Thousands of cars squeezed into a small car park every time they hold an event. It’s getting ridiculous. I’ve just drove past at 4am and due to election the entire road is a joke. Cars parked on curbs people trying to get out rubbish everywhere sorry but this is an absolute joke you have turned a beautiful quiet park into a busy tourist spot / attraction
Positive experience: Great place, big parking. It could do with a cafe inside
Fantastic experience: My first time here to use the pool, got a membership and will be returning regularly.
Negative experience: he is clos not in the time iam paying for it way you say to me go out and not just me avry one the man he say to avryone out He said it harshly, as if it were the swimming pool for him
Positive experience: Very cold in the changing rooms and hardly any disabled changing rooms available and be locked away
Negative experience: The receptionist is very rude we just ask to stamp on the kids university passport but she said they don’t have stamp but we used to get stamp on our ever visit
Fantastic experience: Great place
Fantastic experience: Lovely place. The children love going there
Positive experience: Pool was a bit crowded. Most likely because it was half term... water was a bit to cold for the little one but it was a good experience all the same
Negative experience: Booked a court for Badminton was a few folding chairs round the courts , one of the staff came and asking us to fold the chairs in a commending voice , I didn’t like it so said its ur job . his response was felt like he’s Rude and aggressive . Maybe he was not in good mood but usually the staffs are friendly
Fantastic experience: I loved it and my cousin was loving it
Fantastic experience: Twice I walked from and back to Metropolitan Hotel to swim at the Aquatics Centre, an amazing facility and experience. Reasonably priced, clean and clear, kind people, rewarding swims. Had I been in Liverpool for longer, I'd definitely be back for more laps. Most enthusiastically recommended!
Negative experience: could not let my son enter even though he showed them he could swim multiple times they didn't care
Negative experience: Pros: 1. Clean gym with modern equipment 2. Good facilities 3. A community hub for locals and schools 4. Staff seem friendly enough Cons: 1. Gym is just not maintained to the level of other commercial gyms. At the time of posting the gym and pool have not been open for a full calendar week with no predicted reopening time due to guttering. 2. Aircon has been broken since around 2022 so the gym in the summer months is unusable. They do bring out floor fans but this is no substitute for actual aircon. In the winter the boiler sometimes breaks leaving them to close for days/weeks. 3. Unclear system for swimming; there’s some unwritten rules for the 50m pool; you can’t just get in and swim else you’ll be heckled. 20m is unusable because it’s just tons of people standing in groups, gossiping and not swimming
Fantastic experience: Induction to the gym tonight, couldn't have asked for a better experience. I'm profoundly deaf. Karen Reid who took me through it was awesome, her deaf awareness helped tremendously, took her time and patience to make sure I understood the machines and the exercise plan everything wrote down so I don't have to remember , made me feel very confident & comfortable
Fantastic experience: Nice 50m Olympic size pool
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities Great stuff swimming pools fantastic very clean friendly environments.
Positive experience: Good equipped. Swimming pool fits kids only (90 cm deep).
Fantastic experience: Helpful staff and nice place to get fit
Fantastic experience: Love the Lifestyles Gyms. Great gym here and live the Zumba classes. Thanks
Fantastic experience: There's a well-equipped gym, several pools, organised activities, personal training available, and both outdoor and indoor courts for various sports.
Fantastic experience: Great place to visit so many items and things there you could spend a couple of hours there and still not seen everything It was amazing
Positive experience: Majority of the staff are Sound. However the 50m pool seriously needs to be fixed once & for all.
Fantastic experience: The gym is small compared to others in the area, but it excels in other areas with 3 different sized pools, multiple astro turf 5 a side, tennis accedemy, and athletes track. Family friendly, disabled friendly with lots of parking available. Some of the staff can be unprofessional at times, texting away while your waiting to be served.
Fantastic experience: Wide range of activities available. Good set of equipment in the gym, not much waiting needed even at busy times.
Positive experience: Lovely friendly staff - reception, cleaners, pool attendants/lifeguards. I’ve been for a swim most weeks for several years. Lots of people recently complaining that the pool changing rooms are very cold. I appreciate that heating costs are a big issue nowadays, but would it be possible to close the doors at entrance to changing rooms from reception? When you go for a shower after a swim, it sometimes feels like there’s a Baltic blast coming in. Cheers
Fantastic experience: Great. Very reasonable price.
Fantastic experience: Excellent sports facility, friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Prone to errors and failings (like all public services) BUT, the city council's efforts to create and maintain a great service - it's easy to see if you look past the inevitable. Facilities wise, there's something here for everyone in a way; definitely worth a look. - gym, pools, badminton courts, tennis courts and a variety of fitness classes.
Positive experience: Come here for classes sometimes. Not tried the pool but the classes are good and the gym is clean and welcoming
Fantastic experience: Fabulous pools: 50m & 20m - what more would you want
Negative experience: The swimming pools are great, I have no complaints. However my issue is with the lockers. Last week I spent 10 minutes trying to find a locker that works! Most of them don't work. I made a member of staff aware who advised they can't so anything and it's best I leave a review regarding this point.
Negative experience: The potholes on the way into the gym are dangerous. I've contacted the council (they claim its the gym's responsibility). I've contacted the gym twice - no reply.
Fantastic experience: A very good gym in wavetree clean swimming pool a little bit expensive the courses, 6 pounds for 1 hour yoga if you don't pay per month.
Positive experience: It does the job. It's a bit tired - lots of the swimming pool lockers don't work and the whole thing is a little grimy, but it's OK. Can be busy at lunchtimes and only 2 lanes open for swimming.
Positive experience: Decent Liverpool council pool.
Fantastic experience: I definitely struggled with the thought process of going to the gym for the first time but I’ve been going for over a month now and feel so comfortable coming here. The gym staff/instructors are so helpful and kind. Everything needed to keep machines clean and hand sanitiser too.
Positive experience: The Aquatic center with three pools and gym. The swimming pool is probably the best in Liverpool.
Positive experience: Lovely warm pool, was really quiet when we went (Firday early afternoon). Very cheap for swimming (less than a fiver per adult) showers could do with perhaps being a little warmer but lots of lockers available and good roomy changing cubicles. Definitely worth a visit
Positive experience: Pretty solid 50m pool Only 4 lanes open for the lane swims unfortunately which does get a bit cramped when it's busy
Fantastic experience: Great for a swim with the family or on your own. Even better when the 50m is open and available
Negative experience: Bad staff , unpleasant to deal with
Fantastic experience: Best swimming pool around Liverpool
Negative experience: We went with school and honestly it's not a good experience at all dirty changing rooms , the swimming pool was freezing and I had a terrible experience with the staff like for example when they told me to do backstroke all the water went in my eyes because I lost my goggles and what did my instructor do she told me that I should move or else I would have to get out the pool And it wasn't just my one some girls in my class were talking while he was chatting with some lady and then he said to them that they should shut up or they will get out the pool which then resulted in two girls having to sit out for no reason . And the boxes that you have to put your clothes in were so dirty don't go here it's seriously not recommended
Fantastic experience: Great fitness classes. Wonderfully supportive staff.
Fantastic experience: Great gym and swimming pools, always clean and tidy and staff is really polite and helpful.
Positive experience: Great facilities, pool is a bit cold
Negative experience: Whenever you go there you can never go in the pool but they take your money there's this one smacked in there that shouts at the kid telling shouting to get out because there closing everything's broke in the gym nothing works in there I payed for platinum but they didn't give me that but takin money for platinum
Positive experience: Great place, bit disappointed there's no health suite.
Negative experience: Came with my daughters for public swim. The website said 11:30am onwards. Got to reception and was told to wait until 12pm as they've decided to do a class that isn't on the website. Tried to wait inside, was told that everybody has to wait outside. They have an indoor seating area so I asked if we could sit there. Was told no as there will be too many people to manage. What happens in the rain? In Winter? Truly awful customer service. The staff basically told me it was easier for them.
Negative experience: As a dad with a14yr old son who wants to get big I am a disappointed as the bench pressisn't available but that's not it the benches are t as well so u can't do excercise like shoulder press and can't do many excercise and the staff are horrible there's this lady whose bright red and she is so rude and then there's this short lady with short hair wich screamed at my child when he asked if he can use the bench Infront of his pears
Negative experience: our today’s visit was very unpleasant, the pool was so cold that my little one cached cold and my husband started to shake and had blue lips after 10 min in , the toilets were smelly and dirty … we are definitely not coming back.
Negative experience: I had a rather unpleasant experience at this establishment due to the poor service and what seemed to be a hostile environment. The staff's attitude was far from hospitable or professional, which left a deeply negative impression on me. Most troublingly, I was asked to leave for reasons that were not clearly communicated to me. Not only was the demand unwarranted, but it also demonstrated a lack of basic customer service skills and respect. The management, disappointingly, did not rise above the poor standard set by the staff. Rather than addressing the issue or attempting to reconcile the situation, the manager's solution was simply to refund the £4 I had paid. While I appreciate the refund, this did not compensate for the rudeness and disrespect that I had encountered. It's deeply disheartening to see a lack of effort in providing decent customer service in a business. The overall experience was frustrating and inconvenient, leaving a poor taste that no amount of refund can erase. I hope my experience isn't reflective of the norm for this establishment. Improvement in staff behaviour and management's handling of customer complaints are needed to ensure this doesn't happen to future customers. Unfortunately, until I see a change, I cannot recommend this establishment.
Positive experience: Main pool used for schools after 09.30. But smaller pool for adult use. Clean bright on sunny day. Graduated steps for those who have difficulty getting in or staff offer a hoist to assist. Adequate cubicles for changing, showers. Staff friendly. Cost £4.50 per swim. On the 60 (Bootle) bus route, ask for Picton Rd.
Positive experience: Pools are great but the 20m pool is let down by the OAP’s ‘coffee morning’ let’s talk groups who get in the way of people wanting to swim. They are oblivious to everything around them and just take up too many lanes and also scowl at you because you dare to swim. If you want to swim and you are not fit enough for the 50m pool then do not go to this pool between 7-9am.
Negative experience: Good facilities yet inconsiderate swimmers in the 20m pool, during the morning sessions, make it hard for swimmers to complete laps. Two gossiping groups take over 2-3 lines on each side leaving other swimmers squashed in the middle. Some are forced into larger pool which they may not be as comfortable swimming in or leave entirely. Pool side staff seemingly ignore this rudeness and paying swimmers are left dissatisfied. Many who attend these early morning sessions go before work/ school and yet they are are unable to enjoy or even complete their swimming.
Fantastic experience: I love the full length swimming pool
Positive experience: Sometimes not clean but Still a good place to spend rainy days
Negative experience: Parking nightmare, no organisation, too many activities going on at once and not enough parking spaces to accommodate, overspill car park at tennis centre full of pot holes and loose stones , and if you park on the verges you’ll get ticketed
Negative experience: The new layout of the gym is horrendous. It feels so much more crowded around the machines. Also so much change makes it really difficult for people who it took a long time to get comfortable going to the gym in the first place. Now i feel like i cant go back because its too overwhelming.
Positive experience: Great leisure centre
Fantastic experience: It's good but can't they do something about the people who just stand in the swimming pool and talk?
Negative experience: If the there was an option for 0 reviews I would press it because I threw my ball in the deep end by accident and he never got it and started to be cheeky and I told him to give me it when I was next to him and he threw the ball far away from me and he said it was his ball. Bad review. People never come here it’s a bad place they are rude to people and the close soo early and late.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, good pool and badminton courts
Fantastic experience: Lovely, clean environment. Helpful and enthusiastic staff. Great pools and gym
Fantastic experience: Very nice! Good!❤️❤️ ♂️️
Fantastic experience: Great centre for Swimming. 50m pool with plenty of spectator seating.
Positive experience: Good for the price, gym van get busy and some machines don't work but apart from that no complaints.
Positive experience: Good if food supplier had a debit/credit card machine. Only took cash.
Fantastic experience: Pool Ok, but is not enough big to organise some big events
Fantastic experience: Enjoyed a relaxing swim, which was not time limited, so could really enjoy splashing about.
Fantastic experience: Really welcoming and polite staff, amazing instructors and PTs the building does needs updating and TLC but above that it's still a great gym for the whole community of all ages
Fantastic experience: Good centre with lots of activities. A good rate for membership as well
Positive experience: Women only 25m is good not that busy. The centre generally is clean. They only need to take care more of the lockers
Negative experience: Its randomly closed alot and it never puts it on the website, so when you drive up to it there's a sign outside saying pool closed. The changing rooms are always dirty broken lockers its all disappointing. But the staff are nice they always smile when greeting you and they have great manners
Fantastic experience: The instructor is fantastic, happy and lively. Brilliant class. Would love to go of an evening.
Positive experience: Being super critical, water temp was quite cold as we're the changing rooms, but staff lovely, great swim
Fantastic experience: It's a very good place to go with your children and adults have experience the weight training but not the bath of the weight training is good very good I recommend a family
Positive experience: The gym is good but the staff are not friendly and will make you feel awkward especially when the gym is due to close
