Fantastic experience: Only dropped the kids off

Positive experience: Small place, a few machines in the gym and a small pool.

Positive experience: Great staff, shame it shuts earlier and earlier each month and the weekends there is only cover in the mornings.

Negative experience: My son got sworn at by teachers and being kicked out of his lessons for 'clash of cultures' I've said it wasn't him and I'm getting it in the neck highly don't recommend as teachers are very rude try braunstone instead.

Positive experience: This is a hidden gem, again decent prices and plenty to offer everyone.

Positive experience: Pretty much had the entire pool by myself when I went. Was only me and 2 others. Was very cheap too.

Fantastic experience: This is a great leisure centre. It’s helping me get back on track after weight gain and injuries to my back and leg. The staff are all fantastic! Welcoming, friendly and very helpful. I swim regularly and everyone is chatty. I I lost a high value gold chain and pendant here. A heirloom from my mother. It took me all day to realise I had lost it. I didn’t for one moment think I’d get it back. My partner went up and it was in lost property. I am still trying to track the person who found it . I’m truly grateful, thankful and humbled to you. Thank you I highly recommend this leisure centre Thank you New Parks xx

Fantastic experience: There is a man that teaches stage 1 on a Thursday (my daughter goes to the 4.30 one). The man that teaches that lesson has the patience of a Saint. My daughter is in the process of a diagnosis of adhd and that man is so patient with her. He doesn't get cross or use a stern voice he is incredibly patient with her and deserves a medal. I can only hope all teachers are as good as him. The receptionist staff are amazing and helpful and nice and chatty. They always have time and listen well.

Negative experience: This was my first time in Active Leicester -New Parks,although we are frequent visitors of Braunstone Leisure centres pool and Beaumont Leys Leisure centre. The office staff was welcoming and helpful, however the lady present at the pool side was very rude and unwelcoming. I had my 3 and half year old daughter with me along with my friend and his 5 year old daughter. We were playing in the pool and my daughter was sitting on my shoulders in the pool.This life guard stopped me and my daughter playing that way for no reason. I couldn't find any sign boards or warnings saying not to do so or I couldn't understand anything that would cause any harm to us or anyone around us. And she didn't explain to me what is the reason why that is not appropriate at all. We use to go to other pools frequently and this was never a problem. Because this lady was so rude and stopped us playing, my daughter was not happy and asked me to go back home so we did. My only request to the authorities would be to have some kindness to the visitors and please explain to them why certain things are not allowed if there is any particular reason for that.

Fantastic experience: I Loved learning to swim at this establishment, the staff are incredibly capable at their job as well as friendly and enthusiastic. I especially felt safe when Lifeguard Fraser Tilley.

Fantastic experience: Lovely somewhat warm swimming pools with a good timetable. Nice somewhat modern gym with chilled water or room temp. Some equipment is old but others that are Matrix branded are new equipment.

Positive experience: I've always enjoyed swimming, but health issues have stopped me until now. So it was great to not only get a swim but have fun with the kids. The wave machine was great, as was the splash contest we created, but sadly, the flumes are unusable. However, what was most disappointing was that all 3 of the swimming pools don't seem to care to work together. Monday night after 6 pm, all 3 have lessons, only sessions instead of having differing days to enable access to the pools after 6pm. Plenty life guards and staff seemed good enough. You need £1 returnable for the lockers. Showers are pretty warm, but the pool wasn't as cold as I expected.

Fantastic experience: We came here for my daughters very first swimming lesson and couldn't be happier! The teacher was very friendly and encouraging. The centre itself was clean and tidy and the pools both looked great although I haven't been in them myself.

Fantastic experience: This is one place which hold the community together. Whether it swimming, a gym and and all sorts of fitness activities, the leisure centre has got it all I took my son for swimming sessions and the staff there were professional and friendly. We always enjoy the atmosphere and the activities whenever we are there.

Negative experience: Be careful what you do at New Parks Leisure Centre. They say it is managed by Leicester City Council, but for the Ladies Only swimming session, they either use a male lifeguard or use the CCTV system in place, as they do not have the "manpower" to keep a female lifeguard. LCC, Sir Peter Soulsby and Local Councillor have been emailed but no response as yet. Apparently, above applies to all centres covered by LCC.

Positive experience: I only use the squash courts and maybe 4 stars is one star too many. The place is in need of refurbishment, particularly the changing rooms and toilets, and the courts themselves are a little tired and sometimes a little dirty. But good, friendly service and (in my case) low prices make this an enjoyable place to play.
