Fantastic experience: Joined only last week, been to many gyms but service here is truly amazing. Joined through speaking to Andrew (Manager) who made the process really welcoming and the staff at reception are always helpful.
Fantastic experience: if you want a place to wind down, relax and enjoy your evening. come to the lab in mill hill. the atmosphere is amazing. the staff 10/10 service. the reception team are so friendly- sarah, antinea and lauren are a star! the managers are very helpful and always there when i need them. the gym team welcome you on to the gym floor, making sure you are comfortable and feel good, they make sure you’re not scared to use the gym and make a plan with you. the team overall is really welcoming. it’s warm and inviting. and the food in the canteen! omg it’s the best. the chef cooks with love. you can taste the love in every dish he makes! the team at the canteen angie, tamas and ruth are so funny and so welcoming, they make my day! please if you can or if you don’t know wether to join PLEASE DO!! the lab mill hill is the best!! join today!!

Negative experience: The treatment of some receptionist’s towards paying members is ridiculous at times- leaving a sour taste in an overall sound gym . In general, it’s clear some lack basic communication and understanding skills. Also some come across as very disrespectful and rude , and make it seem like you’re nagging them when you ask for a basic request. It states on the website - “The Lab offers the perfect sanctuary to escape the stress of daily life, for a truly calm, safe and revitalising experience.” In my experience, dealing with certain receptionists, completely opposes what’s stated on the website , after a long day at work we all would love to unwind , instead of being given attitude and negativity. I’m not the first person to mention this and I’m sure I won’t be the last , please for present and future members, have an honest review and really take a moment to reflect and understand why some members might feel a type of way .

Negative experience: I am absolutely shocked with the level of service I recieved by Tim Kipling the general manager at Mill Hill. He cancelled my membership verbally today on the phone because I made 2 complaints regarding a female club member who he knows for a long time and did not investigate the incident. This lady stood infront of the steamer in the steam room spead her legs in a bikini and start shaking her bits directly infront of me at 2 seperate occasions. I raised 2 complaints whilst the assistant manager Andrew was present at the time of incidents and still I waited over 2 months for Tim to get back to me via email. In the email Tim said he spoke to her husband. I decided to call Tim and ask why he spoke to her husband and did not carryout an investigation. Did you investigate this with the staff that were present at the time? Tim said that is private. Why did you speak to her husband? Tim said Because I know him for a long time and they just recently got married. What do I do if this happens again? Tim said i dont like the way you are speaking to me. Im not going to cancel her membership and your the only one who has complained you have not been a member for long so I will cancel your membership instead. I was told "dont tell me how to do my job". I asked Tim if i was to do that as a man and stood infront if the steamer and started shaking my bits what would happen? Tim told me clearly if a man was to shake in front of the steamer in the steam room he would be arrested but because it was a a woman that he knows and has been a member longer than me she is ok to do that. Tim told me abruptly that he is cancelling my membership because I'm not happy with his non-existent investigation result. The result was Tim spoke to her husband, who is his friend, and he would ask her not to shake her bits in front of other people. Now I will take this further with the police. Who told me "she is not supposed to do that". Tim also refused to interview his staff and assistant manager, Andrew, who witnessed this incident on 2 separate occasions. 3rd incident happened a few days ago I walked out the steam room to speak to the staff and what a surprise no one was present so I decided to leave the premises. A case of discrimination on many levels.
Fantastic experience: By far the best health club i have been a member of. The Lab wins hands down over david lloyd (I was a diamond member) and virgin active. I even prefer it to third space. The Lab has plenty of equipment and recently had a brand new refurb. The cost of membership is cheaper than that of david lloyd yet it is much more exclusive. I feel safe and welcomed at this gym. You are a person not just another number! This cannot be said for many gyms and it should be appreciated by the members.
Fantastic experience: Love this place - chill vibes, never too crowded, massive pool, great classes. Beats even the more expensive ones.
Negative experience: An expensive gym with municipal quality changing rooms. Compared to high end city centre gyms it really is quite bleak in there. The gym itself is overpriced with personal trainers costing as much as much higher end city centre gyms. Unfortunately other local gyms are truly grim or not so local. Also very unfortunate cancellation terms that require a full month calendar notice. This means you are charged for up to 8 weeks cancellation period.
Fantastic experience: I had a sports massage with Ranata at the Lab Mill Hill, and it was the best treatment I have had! She picked up on existing issues which many other therapists don't and really made a difference! Will certainly use again, thank you :)

Negative experience: People going from the sauna and steam room straight into the pool or whirlpool, G R O S S. (ie without showering). And all under the noses of the “lifeguards” who couldn’t care less because their too busy chatting to each other, they wouldn’t even notice someone drowning in the pool. Heck there’s one guy “lifeguard” who could natter at Olympic level, nonstop talking for hours. You pay premium subs for premium service, for this level of hygiene I can get at the municipal pool for a fraction of the price. I am seriously not impressed.

Positive experience: Nice gym, entitled, rude members and bad parking etiquette. I have been a member for a while and I overall like the gym, the facilities are clean and the staff are pleasant. My only complaints are the people who attend the gym! Most are lovely but there is usually at least 1 each time I go that is just plain rude! They use 2 machines at once (lots of gym bros) at certain times. Also, try and avoid going Sundays, they offer swimming lessons to children and the parents that come can be so rude! Just because it's a pricey gym (£120+/month) doesn't give you the right to double park your huge SUVs, there are lots of older clients and I saw this women today with her child in a bathing suit leave her car parked taking up 2 spaces right near the entrance. The staff don't challenge anyone that drives aggressively or double parks. For this price they also stopped offering towels and don't have conditioner in the showers. If they offered this, it would make them more on parr with other London premium gyms.

Fantastic experience: Had the most amazing Spa Day with a friend. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were offered a lovely bathrobe, towel, slippers and an Espa product on arrival. We had a coffee in the very nice Juice Bar before going to the spacious and well maintained changing area. We enjoyed using the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and large steam room. As we were having a spa day, two loungers had been allocated for us. We then changed and enjoyed a delicious lunch, cooked by the on-site chef, which was included in the day. Following this we had a pamper session of a facial by an extremely lovely beautician - the best facial I have ever had. All in all, it was a wonderful experience in a club with excellent facilities. I would thoroughly recommend this facility to anyone.

Negative experience: Scam place. How is this a luxury spa when their own users don’t respect it .dirty showers found small strands of hair scattered in the corner , jacuzzi is a dirty soup ,smells unpleasant , was told by someone that apparently someone urinated in the steam room ,that’s a nightmare.gym is tiny and filled with many people but understandable because I came after work which is peak time . If your looking for a place to get violated come here.

Negative experience: Prices have gone up extortionately. £136 a month for the same facilities that were £99 a month a year ago. I was a member till Nov 2021 and was looking to rejoin. Duty managers giving different quotes for membership, as if conjuring figures from their heads. One moment it’s £105 a month, the next, £115, and on another day £136. I feel like they are con artists. Honestly nothing special about this place. From previous experience there were often machines that were out of order. Classes are good but that’s about it. There is nothing exclusive they offer that the local leisure centre doesn’t. They have also started offering non-scientific/ non-evidence based, money making fads such as IV vitamin therapy. Would not recommend at all. Staff also need better training on professionalism. If you’re able to spend this money, I’d take it to a gym with more exclusive facilities and a feeling of professionalism.
Dear Anmol, Thank you for your comment, I'm sorry to hear that you were not happy with the price of membership when you enquired about re-joining the club. We have set prices for all our memberships but do have discounts for certain categories (eg family add-ons, NHS, neighbours, young professionals etc). Overall our prices have increased by £10.00 in the last year with the added value that the Clubs have become dual usage. The Aesthetic clinic which offers IV vitamin therapy is a freelance clinic which is run by two qualified Doctors. I'm sorry it seems that we are not the right club for you at this time and hope that you find something more suited to your needs.
Negative experience: Booked a treatment but was unable to attend due to the bad weather and icy roads. They would not refund me the money and they would not allow me to rebook unless I paid for the treatment again. Twice they took my details and didnt return my call, back customer service.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member here for over a decade and in my opinion and personal experience no where else comes remotely close to what’s on offer at the Labspa. By far the best pool in the area which rarely gets busy (except splash times on a Sunday, which is perfectly acceptable as it’s the one day (and only for a few hours) that children are allowed in the club).It boasts 2 of the best jacuzzis in the area , a fantastic sauna and a great steam room. Cold shower outside the sauna & steam room. Excellent and enthusiastic staff members who are always polite and very helpful. Spacious changing rooms which are well maintained. Multiple showers available in the changing rooms. A superbly equipped gym upstairs and a separate dance studio which is used for all sorts of classes. Did I mention classes … the Labspa offers a plethora of classes of all types which are included in your monthly membership fee. There may be some (and I may be incorrect) where a small charge is required. A fabulous little dining area which is great to relax in , meet friends etc. Tons of parking to the rear of the building. It’s a grown ups place. Lovely members many of which have been members for over a decade and some of which have become very good friends. I don’t really understand why there are a few negative reviews posted (everyone is entitled to their opinion of course). It’s my personal sanctuary and I always leave feeling better than when I arrived. I call it Londons best kept secret. Which maybe it won’t be after posting this review. My only suggestion is that I would love it if it was open later or even 24/7 .. the staff are going to kill me for saying that! Sorry. That’s my honest and considered review.
Negative experience: This place is pretty nice. Not david lloyd standard, but still with a david lloyd price tag unfortunately. The one star is because if you want to leave, or pause your membership, these people will essentially steal your money. Their policies on it are insane. When you are paying basically £5 a day, and you need to leave the country on an emergency, they will not pause your membership unless it is medical or work related. Apparently any other issues do not count. Even for the work and medical related issues, they will suspend your membership for a whole month, so if you have to go somewhere for 2 weeks, they will charge you £25, and then you will still be without a gym for the 2 weeks after you return. I can’t believe I’ve been conned like this and have given this con organisation so much of my money
Negative experience: Worst communication ever - if you call them they don’t know anything and keep saying someone they will call back. Why can’t you just train your reception staff to provide details about any offers, joining fee, monthly costs. We have jobs and can’t take your calls when it suits you.

Negative experience: Just recently joined, new member. To be honest I’m not so impressed yet. For the price it’s quite shocking they don’t even provide eye makeup remover & body cream in the changing areas. Mill Hill club changing rooms quite messy & dirty. Showers are powerful but temperature is really cold & then really hot. Good steam room, nice pool but cacuzzi area is rubbish & there is no real force in those massaging things. People talking really loud & hanging around like it’s a night club. I’m not sure about this place. I think virgin active is better tbh for the price

Fantastic experience: Very clean place, I love the swimming pool there Great place to workout but also unwind after. I signed up with Andrew he really looked after my needs and was very attentive.
Positive experience: A recent member. Lots of offers on joining but just there for the pool, jacuzzi, steam and sauna. May need some upgrading of decor in places but still worth joining just for the pool/spa. Nice atmosphere. Easy to park.

Management arrogant, won't even keep their promises over £20 googles when membership is c£2500 a year! 3. My wife resuscitated a dying man on the floor of the male changing rooms 18 months ago whilst everyone (incl life guards watched!). Club yet to even say thank you! 4. Huge list of safety failings discovered during the above episode resulted in.... none being implemented. Frightening when you know too much! 5. Becoming run down, showers and jacoozi working intermittently and club needs a repaint especially again in changing rooms Advise...Try David Lloyd
Positive experience: It is a great atmosphere at The Lab and the pool water quality is great (albeit the pool area needs decorative repairs and the lane dividers are disgustingly filthy). However, there's only so long members will accept "soon" as a response to when the dirty broken womens changing room will be upgraded. It's been nearly a year since my first complaint. The changing rooms aren't even cleaned anymore. On a side note: You were able to send a round robin text to members when you were changing the floor in the juice bar, so it would have been nice to give us a heads up that the jacuzzis would be broken all week.

Fantastic experience: It's great to be at the Laboratory Spa. As a young neurologist, I am an advocate for mental health and at this club I found such a positive atmosphere, members smiling at me without knowing them, respect, an open attitude to know each other more and make friends- this makes the club special - we are a family. We forget of our problems when we get there. Relaxing spa, a great massage with Julianna. I really recommend her for the sports massage. Everything very good for the mind. As a taekwondo player, I found there amazing coaches, well-trained, willing to push me to do more. Very good machines and boxing bag. I have trained with Ricky until now and he is awesome. I truly recommend him. I am happy I joined. I love the gym. It suits me.

Positive experience: Nothing apart from machines and price has changed since i was here 14 years ago. Still very clean,but dressing rooms need more attentention. Broken lights in pool area, can see damp on the decorarative wall in the pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. Too expensive for what it is...needs a makeover
Negative experience: I'm almost 31 years old, and have never written a bad review on anything. Ever. But I'm compelled to write this. I've wasted enough of my time on 'The Lab' - what's an extra 10 minutes? I was bought a spa day + massage for Christmas, which looked fantastic. March 2019: I had some time off work, so I phoned up to arrange my massage. But as some other negative reviews have stated (scroll down for evidence), I was told "someone will call you back". After calling up a few times, and receiving the same response, I decided it was a busy period and that I'd wait until a later date. Benefit of the doubt given. June 2019: Admittedly, I had misplaced my unclaimed voucher due to moving home. But after to going to a Bannatyne spa recently (highly recommended), I naively presumed it would be simple to resolve the problem. Logically, if there's an unclaimed gift voucher, The Lab should know about it, right? But no. I was, once again, told "someone will call you back". I provided the name of purchaser - even the date it was bought. Again nothing happened. I proceeded to phone back (8-10 times) - to the point of indignity - expressing my urgency to claim the voucher before it's expiry date. The payment for the voucher was even identified by a lady at the desk. For safe measure I provided evidence of the payment being made. I provided less details to obtain my mortgage! So much for a luxury spa. Believe me, I don't care enough about my Spa treatment day to continue making a fool of myself. However, I was bought a gift and I wanted to redeem it out of respect to my partner. Instead, my energy will be solely focused on to ensuring she gets the full refund she deserves.
Negative experience: Absolutely awful customer service. Made us feel like complete idiots. We tried to redeem a massage / spa day voucher that was bought as a present, and they had no record of me ever paying for it, even though it came out of my bank account. The receptionist hung up on me and refused to answer the phone again. I messaged the manager for a refund and no response. Never experienced anything like that before and certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Chiller
Positive experience: So whilst I love the Lab for its facilities, it loses 2 stars for me because it’s extortionately expensive and is dated. Yes you have a choice of gyms and prices, but the Lab doesn’t offer anything over and above Virgin and it is certainly not a luxury spa given you’d think it was from the price tag. Currently membership here is at a round £95-£105 per month or around £180 for a joint membership. Compare that to Virgin which is about £60... it seems the Lab is taking advantage of a wealthy local older demographic but does not offer anything over and above Virgin or similar. On to the facilities. The gym is great and has every machine. Most of the time it’s not overcrowded, which can’t be said of cheaper gyms. The pool is superb with a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Supposedly it uses UV light as opposed to chemicals. The cafe is pretty good and serves a range of basic food and juices and coffee etc. The massage was ok... not the best I have had. Overall if you can afford it, it’s a great local gym. However I’ve been to places like the Third Space, Bodyworks West etc which are truly gorgeous spaces. So in my opinion The Lab needs to step things up to justify the high price tag. Why are you more expensive then Virgin? What else do you offer that other gyms do not? I’ve asked that question and I’m not sure there is an answer... Finally, the decor does feel a bit dated all around and really could do with a total refit.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member since the very beginning...about 25yrs. It still has the best swimming pool in London. The design of the Mill Hill was feng shui'd and flows well. Light and space very calming.

Negative experience: Called to ask about membership options, receptionists couldn't answer and needed the manager "who is busy and will call you back." I called back the next day as nobody called and received a similar response "its very busy at the moment and the manager will call you back." 28 days later, still no call. Quite surprised with the lack of focus on gaining new members given the price point.

Negative experience: Really poor service and the after sales service not great either. We booked a couples massage here recently and were given a lady who was due to leave, therefore not interested in servicing the clients at all. The only thing she did was spread oil all over our body. We raised it with the management team and have not had a resolution (this was 2-3 months ago). Such a shame as we recommended this to friends, wouldn't make the same mistake again.

Positive experience: I am a member since last year and I can confirm this place It is a nice and relaxing place, the staff are nice and friendly. The price it’s a bit high for the facilities they offer but it is still the best in the area.

Positive experience: The facilities are very good; they should be for the eye watering monthly subscription. I read a recent review which cited the club as being a little snooty; sadly, this isn't completely without foundation in my humble opinion.

Fantastic experience: The best Club. I have been a member for many years. Such a wonderful peaceful atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Staff all knowledgable, efficient and friendly. As well as a state of the art gym, all the classes are fantastic. They have a dedicated mind/body studio with amazing yoga and Pilates instructors. The changing rooms are always clean (even seen the General Manager cleaning). Finish off with having your hair done, mani/pedi or a wonderfully relaxing message. You can even get your car beautifully cleaned in the car park!
Positive experience: Visited for the first time and had a fantastic experiment regarding relaxation alongside excellent time spent in the spa. Staff were well accommodating as well as friendly. Loved the services and atmosphere there and will use the services again.

Positive experience: Impressed with this club, it has everything for your convenience. Studios, classes, gym area, hairdresser, car wash, pool, sauna, 2 jaccuzzies, pilates, bar. It's expensive but worth it. You can also hire a locker. The club is well maintained and clean and excellent facilities. The staff are friendly and helpful but make sure that you double check your fees as mistakes have happened.
Fantastic experience: There is NO BETTER HEALTH CLUB THAN THE LAB! They helped me recover from physical and mental illness to health & happiness.

Negative experience: Phoned to ask details to treat my friend to a spa day for her birthday. The girl who answered my call thought I was someone else.and was whittering on about something, a she then put me on hold to speak to a trainee, who didn't have a clue, but asked me to hold while he transferred me to someone else. I hung up! Totally unprofessional, uncaring, and chaotic.

Negative experience: Good facilities, and very good pool. Unfortunately the staff esp. the ones dealing with payment are quite rude and want to take every penny out of you. 1. When i requested to cancel after being a loyal member for some years, they said the staff who dealt with cancellations was away, and they would call me. After at least 2 weeks, they didn't call. I cancelled my direct debit, as that was my only way to stop membership. Only then did they call me, demanding i paid for the next month, due to a clause in the contract, and threatening that they would take me to court. Suddenly they had every resource to threaten me by, but when it came to cancelling membership no-one was there to be found. Considering i'd paid thousands of pounds to them, it was just a cheap tactic to scrounge me for even more. 2. If you forget your lock they want you to pay £5 to *borrow* a lock. 3. Very stingy with guest passes. One time in all the years i was a member after spending many thousands of pounds on membership, i asked if i could bring a friend for *one* session. I asked and asked but they refused, demanding he would have to pay a £20 guest fee. This kind of harshness only makes you lose customers and leaves current curstomers feeling ripped off... I have never looked back. I now have more money in my account, and a more pleasant gym experience.
