PureGym Bicester

Fantastic experience: I have been part of other gyms around the area and Pure gym Bicester specially has super friendly staff. They make it easy for you to feel comfortable being new in a gym. HE who is a personal trainer has been super helpful for a newbie like me. It gets a bit crowded at times.

Fantastic experience: Nice gym well equipped, changing rooms clean and modern

Fantastic experience: As far as Puregyms go, this is on the smaller side but has everything you would need. The staff are always friendly and the gym and changing rooms are always clean. The parking is also good, and their is a Nike store on the same estate if you forget any of your kit.

Positive experience: First visit to a gym in over twenty years. I chose a busy period unfortunately, so not many machines available. It would be much better if there were induction sessions in the evening rather than always at 3pm. People who work won't make the afternoons. I had to visit on my own with no real clue what I was doing. Otherwise it was a friendly but busy atmosphere.

Positive experience: Plenty of equipment which on the surface looks clean, but, some of the running machines and cross trainers are a little grubby at the bases where people sweat etc

Positive experience: ONLY ONE BARBELL BENCH!! Whos idea was it to only have one Barbell bench in the whole gym? This is a fundamental piece of gym equipment. Just unbelievable to find just one in this gym, so disappointing and spoils what is a solid gym for me. Note.. The best time to go to this gym is at 5am, cause from 6am onwards it is too full of people to get in a workout.

Fantastic experience: if you are looking for a well-equipped gym with a lot of equipment, from treadmills and bikes, through stairs, rowing machines, etc.... dumbbells, barbells... a lot of space for exercises! Ok, a lot of people at certain hours... it's cheap and there's a nice atmosphere... I recommend Raf from the bike

Fantastic experience: Signing up and accessing the gym was a breeze, and the facility was clean with a wide array of equipment available. The atmosphere was welcoming, with friendly fellow gym-goers, and minimal wait times for specific machines. Overall, it was a positive experience.

Negative experience: This bicester puregym is the worse management gym in the UK, and everyday it's very packed during peak hour. Its my personal opinion. so if you are thinking of join them, my advise is considering other better management gym in bicester.

Negative experience: Very bad communication with the staff manager. Someone stole my property from the gym and they don’t care at all. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Upon my initial visit, the gym appeared busy, but selecting an appropriate time alleviated this issue. The facility boasts ample equipment, and the staff, notably the coaches, are exceptionally helpful and experienced.

Positive experience: Friendly and courteous staff. Some members who hog equipment whilst on their phones especially during busy periods

Positive experience: Great new space, but too crowded at certain times. If more than 70 people, very challenging to find a machine free. Maybe a discounted membership for those working out of peak times will even out the members' attendance times? Food for thought

Positive experience: Gym overall is a good gym and the majority of the equipment is well taken care of. The staff that work here are super friendly, especially Sam! The only negative is in the afternoon/evening when the restaurant below gets a bit grill crazy and smokes out the gym. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does happen, it can be quite off-putting. Would recommend this gym to anyone within Bicester.

Negative experience: Grubby and disgusting showers. The front door has been broken for 2 months meaning the site is UNSAFE for its customers, especially at night and early morning when there are no staff onsite.

Fantastic experience: Here's the gen: Great value for money and exactly as expected. It can get really busy, even as late as 2000, but you can still get your work outs done with a little patience. Good time of day seems to be from 1400 to 1500 before the kids roll in after school. So if you want an empty gym, buy your own. Showers are a bit pongy but I'm used to far worse at work etc. Strangley though, I've never seen anyone else use them...

Fantastic experience: Good ambience. Well equipped with all modern machines. Well maintained.For the last 30 years iam doing workout regularly and I was atrainer also back in India. Before coming to UK i was doing workout in GOLD'S GYM. But this Gym, this is really outstanding

Negative experience: I arrived by car and the entrance gates did not open even though I had access in my contract. I incurred the costs and after filing a complaint, I was informed that they did not know why this happened.

Negative experience: Far too busy now I know it's decent for the price there are no safety rails for the racks which just seems like an accident waiting to happen. In the evening you'll be waiting a while for a squat rack or bench unfortunately, it has only gotten that bad in the last few months. The water from the showers and taps has an odd smell. And there is no control at night the other Saturday night around 7 pm some kids jumped the barriers to get in and messed around I think the main entrance door is always open so means could easily keep happening or worse

Positive experience: Pure Gym in Bicester is a nice friendly gym, perfect for beginners or advanced gym goers. If your looking for assistance on a more personal one to one level, please see Mostafa Hodaiby! His experience, expert advices and personalised plans are reassuring and flexible. If you have any goal, and have the dedication this man will get you results, i share from my own personal journey with Mostafa that he has helped me in many ways to regain confidence in the gym and be a healthier more confident person. My only reason to score 4 stars is because the changing rooms could be a more pleasant and bigger space and some advanced equipment for heavier or more diverse lifters is not available in the gym.

Negative experience: Mediocre, grubby, budget gym with AWFUL customer service. Limited selection of kit, narrow range of classes and too busy for its size every evening. On top of that, it’s poorly maintained and shabby. The floors and kit are always dirty and cooking smells (sometimes even smoke!) from the restaurants below often fill the gym. The changing rooms are usually full of litter and the showers always reek of urine. The PTs are sound if you engage with them at least. The PureGym app is criminally bad with loads of annoying glitches like turning your music off when you open it and the online ‘members area’ website is an unnavigable endless loop of half answers. There’s no number to ring for any help, just an infuriating chat bot or disinterested/rude ‘customer support’ reps who will eventually email you with some passive aggressive comment. They’re cheaper than most places but treat their customers with borderline disdain and their pricing strategy is filled with Ryanair-like tricks to catch you out. Cheap and grubby gym from a cheap and grubby company.

Negative experience: Lack of equipment. Staff don't force the rules. Numpties leave weights on, don't clean the bench after use.

Fantastic experience: Machine that I want to use was always available for me to use even in it's peak. Place is well presented.

Positive experience: Not a bad gym for the price but you get what you pay for. Decent kit and a reasonable range. Notable absence is a hack squat machine. Avoid if you work out at peaks times. Also avoid if you include heavy squats in your training. The setup is inadequate with no safety/spotter bars, a spongy floor, and a lack of mirrors. I contacted them in November 2022 to ask if there was anything that could be done to make the setup safer for heavy squatting. They replied promptly saying they would sort it. Nothing has been done as of May 2023.

Positive experience: It's ok, some times in a day no chance to do anything, absolutely packed! Really u need to be there morning to be able free to use machines. If u work, it's pretty hard from 5pm till 7pm do anything.

Negative experience: I saw 2 guys arguing here today and the staff just watched. The first guy got his glasses thrown onto the floor for what seemed like absolutely nothing. He asked staff to intervene and nothing was done. It ended with drinks being thrown and quite frankly I'm now afraid to train here. The guy on the machine who instigated it should have been stopped. This is a safety issue and staff should be ashamed.

Fantastic experience: Vast range of equipments kept in pristine condition. Good location with ease of access. One downside is the very limited space in male changing room.

Negative experience: Honestly a terrible layout, really small and so constantly overcrowded and situated above a Chinese restaurant so the smell of cooking oil permeates the entire gym which is vomit inducing. Go to Banbury or Oxford if you can.

Fantastic experience: One of the best Pure Gyms around. If I was local I would be using more often. Very clean and an amazing view (of surround area of bicester) while you training. Will definitely be going back again. Updated: still great and still one of the best in the chain. If I lived in Oxford, I would spend the 30 minutes in the car just to go here

Positive experience: So far so good. Since the opening of the gym I've been satisfied with all equipment provided. Would be nice to have a seated leg curl machine and a plate loaded seated calf raise but you can't have 'em all.. Broken machines; One that I know of was the cable seated row which I think was down for around 3 weeks, possibly longer, i can't remember. But in saying that, it was fixed faster than some other gym chains I have used before so that's a plus for me, knowing that things get fixed as promptly as possible! When considering value for money, they're always a strong choice for anyone who wants to improve their mental and physical health.

Positive experience: A very well equipped gym which has been known to handle over 120 people. The changing room is small but adequate. There are vending machines which supply energy snacks and drinks as well as a few items like headphones and proprietary items. Parking is plentiful and there is wheelchair access as well as a lift. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the lack of a dedicated person to be in the gym to give information and assistance. It is annoying when you cannot actually speak to someone when you have account issues. Having said that there are about a dozen personal trainers that specialise in different disciplines, that are there a lot of the time. They cannot however access your account to sort out problems. All in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to beginners and pro's alike. The app has a load of great info and workouts for all disciplines.

Positive experience: Gym is consistently too warm. Air conditioning doesn't cope with the green house effect created from the massive glass windows, equipment availability is also very scarce. It is however very clean and the staff are friendly.

Fantastic experience: Very impressed with this gym!! I was uncertain about how big it was inside as looks smaller from the outside but it is so spacious inside and the staff are really friendly and engaging!

Positive experience: Cleaning is hit and miss especially the lockers, staff are friendly and seem reasonably knowledgeable! What lets it down big-time is a complete lack of correctional practices, some of the bad form I've witnessed is dangerous both to the participant and other gym user's around them. Health and safety allways comes first no exceptions!!

Positive experience: I went to try out the free weight room today and it was pretty good. Plenty of equipment to go around. A few issues though: The floor of the entire gym shakes whenever a moderately loaded barbell is dropped on the "olympic" platform! Not even from a great height either - just from someone performing a regular deadlifts. I dread to think what would happen if someone actually tried a heavy olympic lift on it. Perhaps a solid concrete floor would have been a better idea!? The dedicated bench press benches don't have safety bars/pins, but they are pretty standard bits of kit so it is what it is. But there is not enough space behind them for a spotter to get behind the bar. So for lifting heavy, they are not great It's easy enough to set up a bench under the power rack - and there is plenty of room behind the bar for a spotter to get behind. However there are also no safety pins anywhere I could see. So if I am alone and want to bench heavy, the only option on both setups is to not use any weight clips on the bar and then just try to tip the weights off one end in an emergency. This is not something I've had the pleasure of practising. There really should be a set of safety pins available for the power rack! Please order some PureGym! On another note, the free weight area does feel a little cramped, as in there is not a ton of free space around. Which feels odd when you are there because there is a HUGE functional fitness area which was hardly being used! If some of these things can be addressed then I think I will be signing up and spending a lot more time there.

Fantastic experience: I’m very happy with PureGym Bicester. Staff are friendly and the place is clean, well maintained. Recommended to a couple friends, but noticed that savehalf offer just expired. Not sure if there will be new offers coming soon.

Positive experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Clean gym, well kept. All machines are new albeit some have started squeaking already. Overall, not bad. Hope staff pick this up to work on the cons to make this 5*. Pros- cheap membership, open 24hrs, friendly staff, free parking, easily accessible. Depending on puregym membership, free sports water is included which is good. Brand new equipment and machines. Cons- Temperature is consistently uncomfortably warm. Not hot, but too warm for a gym. No windows so no fresh air feeling. Although the app displays how many people are present, it is regularly busy from 0900-2300 and machine availability isn't great during these hours. Unsure of max capacity. Additionally, the covid rules seem to have relaxed and users are not cleaning kit anymore. The facilities are there but are not being used.

Other gyms in Bicester have been robbing locals for years with ridiculous prices and contracts that suit them and not the customer. Positive experience: Always clean, doesn't smell and a great assortments of machines and free weights. It will get a 5 star when I get at least one employee to say hello when I walk in. Their station desk is right by the door, so walk by them to get to the workout areas. Nothing from any of them. Better customer service training wouldn't hurt. Update: left a late workout tonight. Lady rep at the front desk right in front of the entrance/exit. I passed within a meter of her....silence. You could hear the crickets chirp. Seriously? You'ld think one of their primary duties would be to greet and send off their clientele when they are standing right in front of the entrance. Guess that isn't in the employee training.

Fantastic experience: It’s a gym. Does the purpose, has good equipment and nice staff. I’m really happy with the location and have no problems. I foresee myself being at this gym for as long as I live in Bicester.

Fantastic experience: Great Gym. I travel the uk for work and this is one of the best Puregym's ive visited out of the 20+ i have done. Great machines. Plenty of racks and benches. Plenty of space. And has sledge's and battle ropes which are always a plus.

Negative experience: False advertising with opening offer as £12.99 a month. It is £16.99, NOT £12.99. Rectify that, and I will change my rating.

Fantastic experience: This gym has not opened and has 2 stars! This is unfair! Pure gym is actually a great business model, especially for people who work unsociable hours and travel regularly, i couldnt possibly join every independent gym in the country on the off chance i might get a job there and even if i did they wouldn’t be open when i want to use them! Ive visited many pure gyms up and down the country and they have all exceeded any local independent gyms in my home area that ive previously used, they have good quality equipment but also have a fast response to repairing and replacing damaged equipment. Good luck with the opening this month!

Fantastic experience: In response to the earlier comments and to support the newly established team that is now tasked with responding to unhappy people (can't say customers because they are not...yet anyway) - even before the branch have opened their doors. I am actually a customer for a change and have used PG for many years- previously in Oxford and now at Northampton Weston Favell branch, and both of them are great, meet my needs perfectly (affordable, modern and clean). Business model is great for those that are not looking to use swimming pool or sauna but looking for a no fuss, accessible 24/7 place to work out. And I believe it's a UK company which have grown precisely because of their business model and delivery of quality. I know that I don't need to convince anyone here, there are plenty of customers with the number constantly growing, so the only downside could be that the gyms can sometimes be crowded. Fingers crossed you can go ahead with the opening on 29th March!

Negative experience: I pay an extra 10 pounds or so a month so that I can use more than one gym and the only other gym I was going to be using was this one however it is taking for ever to open.

Negative experience: I’m local to Bicester so thought I’d check out another Puregym before considering this one if it opens. I’d never been to one before as I hated the sound of the business model. Proved myself right. Sell it cheap and stack them high model surely can’t appeal to so many?! There is no reason for a delay. COVID is not causing supply chain issues of equipment anymore, not if it was on order from 12+ months ago. There would be a floor plan to show off and work going on. Glad I didn’t front any money. Support your local independents, run by people with a passion for fitness and not £££. If you want somewhere to check your social media rather than an inspiring place to workout this will be fantastic value for money though.

Fantastic experience: According to the Oxfordshire live website, it'll be opening in March 2022. Provisionally I've given it 3 stars. If it opens, that'll go up to 5, if it doesn't, then 1! No pressure PureGym! Edit: it opened yesterday, I went today! Well equipped gym. Clean and spacious.

Negative experience: Opening Soon for years now. It won’t open anytime soon. So you might as well stop advertising.
