Hi Yousaf. Thank you for your review. As you rightly say, our gym is very nice! We are not a budget gym, our kit is top of the range, regularly maintained and added to and we are considerably less crowded than the budget gyms. Also, we only have adult members.Our members appreciate that is worth an extra couple of pounds a week.
Negative experience: This Gym is a Joke: Incompetent Management and Baseless Accusations I am beyond furious with the experience I had at this gym. About two weeks ago, I decided to try out this place with a friend. We did a normal workout together and left. Fast forward to today, and I get a call from my local gym accusing me of being a personal trainer at this dump of a gym! Apparently, the manager at this place, who has supposedly been managing for 8 years, is absolutely certain I was personal training. Let me make this clear: I am NOT a personal trainer. I have zero qualifications, and I was simply helping an old friend out. But instead of having the guts to approach me during my workout, this desperate excuse of a gym decided to snoop into my details and contact my local gym with completely false accusations! To top it off, this so-called manager had the audacity to threaten me with a ban if I ever set foot in her dusty, rundown establishment again. Really? How about confronting me like a professional instead of acting like a coward? This place is a joke. They clearly don't understand the difference between casual assistance and professional training. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this clown show. They obviously don't have the competence to run a gym properly.
Fantastic experience: This is a small gym, which is extremely well maintained. The members have been well trained to put any prop they use, back to where they belong, so we don't trip over dumbbells/ props left allover the gym floor. That is a huge positive for me, as so many gyms are messy! What I love most about this gym is the high level of Hygiène, so rare these days. The manager puts these little purple baskets all over, with inside some paper towel and desinfectant spray; and I have to say that makes a huge difference, as you don't have to look for it. I enjoy and feel safe training in that gym. One little negative, that can be fixed fairly quickly, therefore, why I still give 5 stars, the handles of the Precor Dual Cable need to be replaced - a good quality pair of handles is around £15.00/ 18.00 - see photos
Hi Alice; thank you very much for your 5 star review. As you rightly point out our staff work tirelessly to provide the cleanest, tidiest and most supportive gym in Ruislip. It's very rewarding for everyone when that is recognised. I have ordered 4 more cable attachments that should be delivered on Tuesday. Anytime you see equipment that needs attention, please talk to someone in the office and we'll be straight on to it.
Positive experience: Gym is a bit dated and lacking atmosphere. In some ways it’s great to get in and just train. But if you want more atmosphere with music, classes, lots going on this seems to be lacking it.
Hi Gillespie. Thank you for your review. I'm not sure if you are a member as we don't have a Gillespie as a member. The reason there are no classes at AF Ruislip is that Hillingdon Borough Planning Dept does not allow us to. This is due to concerns of noise disruption to our neighbours above. [ Despite spending a considerable amount of money on sound proofing]. Equally our members and neighbours seem to appreciate the gym music at the current levels. We do ask regularly, but as a large percentage of people like to use their own devices, the current sound level is most popular. The gym is at it's buzziest in the evening of course. If you would like to discuss any issues you have, please call our manager, Nikita, or pop into the office.
Negative experience: Nice enough gym but small and at peak time, no chance getting any equipment
Hi Ash. thank you for your comments. We are surprised and disappointed that you have a problem at peak hours. The vast majority of our members feedback is that we are considerably less crowded than other gyms and that gym etiquette is exceptionally good. Members are very good at sharing and rotating equipment. Please talk with a member of staff with any particular issue.
Positive experience: Tiny gym close to ruislip manor station. Quite busy in pick time but ok for the times when I go in qhich is mostly 5:30am in the morning or 9am in mondays. Most of the equipment are there, there is literaly no space to fit in any othe machines. Due to space shortage there are no classes in this gym but it is great for free weight training and cardio
Hi Valeria, thank you for your review. You are correct we have invested in a lot of [ expensive!] kit. We do have pretty much everything required for any and all training programme's. For information; we aren't allowed by to hold classes as a condition of our planning application. This is due to noise concerns from our neighbours above. We did build a studio which is used for a quieter, personal space to train.
Negative experience: Anytime Fitness is a total scam. I asked while signing up if there was some type of minimum term or if I can just pay by month and was told I could do monthly. Turns out that was a lie and they want to charge me for a minimum of 1 year. Any membership that requires a minimum term is a scam.
Hi Sebastian; you signed a 12 month contract [ that has a 2 week cool off period, in which a full refund is available]. We do offer shorter periods, but as with all business's the longer contract, you signed, works out cheaper per month. That was the membership option you chose and signed. You also set up a monthly direct debit to pay your fees. As a matter of record; you signed up on line via our website, so nobody mislead you.

Negative experience: I have been a member of this gym since 2016 and very little has been Improved. Last month I was contacted by the gym manager Nikita and all I can say is my experiences with her have not been professional and can come across as pretty rude. I was contacted by Nikita to try and poach me from another anytime fitness and to make Ruislip my home club again as I had used it more frequently that month. I declined and Also challenged why the membership costs are going to increase considering majority of their equipment is the same as when I joined the club when it opened in 2016. When I made that point, Nikita proceeded to reel off a list of improved equipment which was extremely misleading as I know for a fact those particular pieces of equipment were the same. I was warned that if I did not pledge Ruislip as my home club she would revoke my access but didn’t let me know when that would be. Today I was unable to gain access and find it very bad to treat a local member this way because he would change to bolster Nikita’s numbers. I will be cancelled my anything membership today and would advise people to not sign up to this gym while the management treat members in this way.
Hi Gavin; I'm obviously very disappointed to read your review. A couple of points are worth making. You were a member of our gym in Ruislip and decided to leave us and transfer to a new AF gym that was happy to charge you our original pre sale discounts. However, as you well know, if you use another gym [ ours in this case] more than your home gym you have to transfer to the more used gym, Ruislip. This is an automatic procedure across all 4,500 gyms within the Anytime Fitness group. Member usage is measured over 60 days by the central group membership software. Plenty of time to determine which gym is being used most. The gyms have different cost bases, different rent etc and therefore different fees.They are also owned by different franchisees. You refused to transfer back to us. The other point, which I'm more than disappointed about, is your claim that the pieces of equipment Nikita listed have not been added since we opened. They have, every single one of them.

Hi Adam; I think you must be reviewing the wrong gym. We have no record of you ever being a member or trialist at our members only gym. There was a gym just behind us which struggled and unfortunately had to close. For the record we have free parking opposite the entrance. One hour free and unlimited free parking from 5.30pm through to 8.30am. There is also the station carpark, entrance 100m from the gym. We are a franchise and the equipment is Precor's top range; it has to be. If you wish to visit the gym we would be delighted to offer a free trial.

We do have one small overflow changing room, however I recommend you use one of the 3 private bathrooms; they are equipped with a shower, toilet, wash basin, hair dryer and large changing area. If you not sure where they are located, please ask a member of staff. [ I apologise for the late reply, an oversight].
Fantastic experience: Amazing gym, good equipment and facilities. Only problem is on the accasion I find the gym tempreture is set too high. (Especally tonight) other than that amazing!! Update: aircon seems to be working full now, perfect temperature. Free workout log books are a great touch too!
Hi James, we very much appreciate your review. We have the air con set at 19c, which is recommended for the majority of gym users. Maybe it was not working at 100% that night. Anyway we have had it serviced this morning [ we have it serviced every 3 months] , so it will be running perfectly now. Please report any problems to our hard working team. Fantastic experience: Saw this branch on my way home. Asked the young man if they had the mountain climber and inner/outer thigh machine. Yes to both. Used the gym the next day and it was absolutely the best. He welcomed me and took me to the bar as said I wanted to stretch. Got me a step platform to help me up. Showed me where to shower etc. I had such a good time and wished it was my local branch. Very clean, air conditioned, cleaning stations dotted about, everything worked and had purpose. Highly recommend this branch. Sadly its to far to travel to every day. I have handed in my notice to my local branch as no benefit going where equipment is lacking. They actually have equipment that nobody uses, which is pointless.

Hi Claire, thank you for your review. We have 3 private bathrooms with shower, WC, toilet, hand basin and hair dryers; plus one smaller shower, and dry changing room and a seperate single toilet. If you call into the office our friendly staff will be delighted to show around.
Positive experience: Not much equipment, don’t let you cancel make you have to stay for full 12 months, no boxing equipment or boxing bags, very limited space, pro is at times is quiet
Hi Oliver, thank you for the review. We are obviously disappointed to receive only 3 stars. I would like to point out we have 65 major pieces of equipment, plus all the accessories you would expect - dum bells, kettle bells etc. If there is an exercise you are finding difficult to achieve, please ask a member of our team and they will help you. We are regularly investing in the gym including a full refurb during lockdown. We also purchased a number of new pieces of equipment including a Ski Erg, Attack Bike, hack squat, multi purpose rig, a Thergun multi station [ which is most unusually free for members use]. All this with memberships frozen for 38 weeks [zero income!]. We are not a boxing gym and the overwhelming feedback from members is that they do not want boxing bags. We do not have any record of you wishing to terminate your membership, but if you wish to, that is not a problem, you are on a rolling monthly contract , please contact the office. However, we would be very sorry to see you leave.

Fantastic experience: Since re-opening in July, I have found the gym to be extremely COVID-complaint. The equipment has been sufficiently spaced out, there are many sanitisation stations and disinfectants available to wipe down machines before and after use and the time of day I go means it's hardly ever crowded. The staff are also very welcoming and polite.

We have used the enforced closure to refurbish, redecorate and improve the gym, so you will find that the useable space has increased and that has enabled us to add a new functional area.
Positive experience: It’s a small gym fit for its purpose. The last time I was a member few years back, not sure if it’s the same now but the toilet was for men and women to share. Most of all, no one informed me that my membership was expiring and they just assumed I would keep going with them so they charged me a month after my membership expired. They also did not check the last time I was in which was months without using the gym. I find it sneaky and That’s not how you should operate. They should inform any members whether they still would like to extend or renew their contract before charging. Otherwise it is just sneaky and lazy customer service. No proper manager probably handling and reviewing contracts.
Thank you for the review Dell. We do have fully fitted private bathrooms that are used by all members. This is a popular concept within all 4,500 Anytime Fitness gyms. We have 2 types of membership, pre paid annual which provides a free month or a contract period followed by rolling direct debit. This is fully explained in our contract and at the time of joining.

Fantastic experience: It's nice, little gym, with everything necessary for effective workout. Can be busy at the times but in general you will do what you want/have to do during the workout. The only flaw is necessity to sign for a year-long contract, but that shouldn't be a problem for someone who is going regularly.

We find as all our members are committed to a 12 month contract [and over 18], that the facility is much better looked after and the gym etiquette far better than a pay as you go model. Members care!

Negative experience: Decent enough gym it has everything you need however the staff are very unprofessional they never answer the phone or return your calls and the manager is both unprofessional and argumentative. Complaints through the website do not get passed onto the owner (I can only assume as I haven't has an response for weeks). Great gym but poorly run almost like a youth club for the staff.

Positive experience: Decent place, would say helpful personel, but some what with a hidden agenda, the 12 months contract is a very low point, if you want to keep the clients make it a place that they will come no matter what, not just to be bonded by that contract, people move addresses, get sick, go to other places for variety and any other reasons, and shouldn't be obliged to go at the same place no matter what cause of a contract
Hi Ali, thank you for your review. The Anytime Fitness franchise group [ of 4,000+] gyms is a contract model. We are a members only gym and as such we feel the gym is better respected, looked after and has more of a club feel as everyone is committed to it. Maybe compare to some of the local pay as you go gyms. If any member is sick or injured they can freeze their membership for that period. If you move from the area you are released from the contract - I hope that clarifies.
Negative experience: Has the basics. I've been going for almost a year now and the most frustrating thing is they haven't sorted the water fountain out in all this time. Its absolutely ridiculous actually as its the only thing they need to ensure is in good working order. Also when doing early morning workouts the weights are all over the show.....
Hi Jahn, following my Facebook reply, you'll be as delighted [and relieved] as I am that the new water fountain is now installed. As I explained, we were let down by 2 builders, but now have a new state of the art fountain. It is in everyone's contract that they are responsible for re racking weights - the vast majority of our members do this. Some we have to nag [and do ourselves].

Positive experience: Nice gym it's never really busy and got what you need. Only problem is that there is no free car park and can be a pain to find a space, also the gym is some what small. Also compared to other anytimes it is missing some equipment.
Hi N, thank you for your review. There is free parking opposite the gym for one hour and for any period from 5.30 pm to 8.00 am. We have 63 different pieces of equipment, please pop into the office to discuss anything you think we're missing. We are shortly taking delivery of a back extension, a members request.

Negative experience: Not a bad gym, but not a great one either to small for my liking. In all my experiences of going to gyms across the countless countries I have visited, the staff here are without a doubt the most miserable sad looking bunch I have ever encountered. None of them look like they actually enjoy working there, they struggle to smile and do not engage with the customers - they just sit in the office and do nothing, bar the occasionally float around the gym floor with sullen faces. I don't actually think I have had a conversation with any of them. I could provide a description of each and everyone one of them, but thats just cruel. But seriously if you dislike your job that much, seek alternative employment. Glad to see the back of the place..A smile costs nothing, manners cost nothing, but they can open many doors for you.

If you sometimes use another name and have been a member under another name, then I would love to discuss any issues with you. The vast majority of our members rate our staff very highly; they keep the gym and equipment in fantastic order and are constantly helping our members achieve their goals. Negative experience: Equipment needs improvement and there are some very sketchy characters that regularly attend and just take over whole sections of the gym for long periods of time.

We pride ourselves on being a friendly and supportive place to train. Our equipment is top of the range, tv and i'net enabled Precor kit with a full service contract. Negative experience: Disgusting customer service..tried cancelling my husband's membership after a year and was told he has to pay another 3 months. Threatened with debt collector's after I cancelled the direct debit after then taking 15 months of payments...when I only used the gym once the day I joined.. . Rude rude staff !!!

Positive experience: Joined when it opened some 9 to 10 months ago. Kept clean and not so busy unless you go Monday/Tuesday evenings between 5.30 and 7.30pm. Small but close to work so does wonders for me. Possibly increase things like skipping ropes. Overall very very good for the price and locality.

Positive experience: Loved it here. Came for a trial. Wasn't too busy. Only negative was the layout as I had to keep carrying weights to stretch area. And no mirrors on gym floor, only at main weightlifting area. Great selection of machines & lovely staff here.

Fantastic experience: I love it because it's hardly ever busy when I go.. I do go at off peak times but other gyms Iv been a member of have been packed at these times. Saturday/Sunday during the day etc.. there are no classes, pool, sauna etc. so it's really no frills but I just do a little cardio and then weights so it's perfect for me. Never a problem getting the dumbells or machines I need :-) Only thing I would love is for there to be plugs in the changing rooms so I could have a shower there and dry my hair.. the wall hair dryers are nowhere near powerful enough, but I understand it must be something to do with health & safety as the gym is not staffed 24 hours a day so it could be dangerous.
