Negative experience: Anam haffeez and hassan they like to exploit people and judge and insult, I went swimming with normal swimwear they told me I had to cover up because I am within a Muslim community and then shamed me for coming in that outfit in the first place

Fantastic experience: Amazing friendly staff. The amenities are amazing and the location is great. Only issue is parking but there is a parking lot with limited spaces. Definitely recommend if you're local!

Fantastic experience: I wish I joined this gym sooner, the atmosphere at this ladies' gym is wonderful, especially in comparison to the nearby gym on fernley rd, which I found appalling. While this gym is smaller, they recently expanded and upgraded all of the equipment, they also have a sauna/steam room and it's very well-maintained. They offer a variety of ladies-only classes throughout the day - in the mornings, afternoons and evenings - with highly skilled instructors. I also appreciate the gym's convenient operating hours. The staff here are approachable, with strong values and ethics and the management team is professional and readily available to address any queries. They genuinely care about you and value you as a customer-unlike the other gym, where concerns are dismissed outright. Any complaints here are taken seriously and handled appropriately, with clear procedures in place. This gym is undoubtedly the safer choice, especially for women seeking a secure, safe and welcoming environment where you won't be disrespected. There is a supportive community atmosphere here which is particularly beneficial for those who prioritise mental well-being as part of their fitness routine. The establishment shows great respect for the culture and beliefs of its clientele. Males are strictly prohibited from entering the female-only areas, maintaining a comfortable and private environment for women. In rare emergencies where male staff presence is required, a clear announcement is made in advance, giving women enough time to cover up or leave the area for a few minutes. I've only experienced this once during my visits, and they went above and beyond to ensure everyone was informed. Female staff members personally entered the ladies gym to notify individuals, ensuring that even those with headphones were aware. This level of attentiveness is different from the other gym where staff covered themselves up but fail to inform their customers when males were entering the gym which was shocking. The recent equipment upgrades are fantastic and I hope to see the ladies gym expand even further in the future to accommodate the growing number of women who enjoy using this facility.

Fantastic experience: I have only recently started attending this leisure centre & I am so impressed with the facilities as well as the staff. Shak on reception was so helpful when myself and my sister had accidentally booked the wrong swimming session without knowing. He was able to sort out our issues in no time. He was kind, friendly and really had a great attitude to helping us as well as anyone else who came in. He is now our go-to guy. We had a lovely conversation with him & I know any future issues - he will definitely be able to sort them. He really loves working to help his community & it’s so rare to see people loving their job & community with such care and consideration. The centre has really good facilities & although you have to book on for any session, it is entirely possible you just have to be super quick about it. Can’t say much else. It’s fantastic & I will continue going.

Negative experience: Rude receptionist going by the name Nafisa. Has no manners and seems too hard to do her job and communicate with customers. Ladies gym always busy and hard to get a workout in when people like hogging the equipment.

Fantastic experience: The atmosphere is way better than the underground types if gym, it's alot more pleasant, there's a ladies only gym too. Love the wide variety of classes available, and I live that there's a pool & sauna too. Swimming kids and accessories are available at reception

Negative experience: There is a lot of mismanagement in this place with a mix of either really rude or really friendly service. I am updating my review because my husband has had a really bad experience with a man at the front desk. I froze our memberships from next month onwards but did pay for this month's membership. However, today a man in front desk would not let my husband into the premises and said he should have read his membership's contract. He just had a complete lack of service attitude and made him return home cold and with no exercise accomplished today (as dramatic as it sounds its true). I had to call their fee collection office to get this sorted and they did in less that 2 minutes, but now he wont have time to exercise today. Since I am already ranting about this place, I thought I would mention their app to book classes/swimming rarely works and there are 10 year old boys in the women only shower, even though there are family showers in the centre. The other day I had to wait over 15 minutes, wet after swimming, to take a shower.

Positive experience: I go here regularly for the use of the gym- nice & friendly staff always on hand to help and give advice , the gym is clean and tidy and has a lot of equipment. The only downside is the WiFi which isn’t brilliant at most times hence the 4 stars.

Fantastic experience: Attended the Saturday's box fit class with PT junaid and it was really challenging something different and I recommended anyone comes down and try it out either on Saturday or Sunday which takes place at 11 till 12

Fantastic experience: I come here with my best friend twice a week for the women only swimming and we are so happy that we have found this pool! The pool is always nice and clean, great temperature, the only problem are some women who litter in the changing rooms so you always step on tissues/paper bracelets. If I could ask for one improvement it would probably be more showers as it gets so busy people are fighting over getting into the showers. Most importantly the staff is absolutely amazing and very helpful! Love the pool, love the steam, love the sauna! I would recommend this to everyone!

The new ladies gym refurb has exceeded my expectations, so I’m very happy with that. The staff are more than helpful, Nafisa and Umar in particular, they go above and beyond to address any needs or issues I have. It has been a year since I started coming to sparkhill leisure centre and I have no intention of going elsewhere! Thank you all for your hard work!

Positive experience: Really good facilities, but as a man, I’m restricted to the timings of the “ladies only” or booking system. So have to train in accordance to their convenience! Otherwise everything is brand new and super friendly staff.

Fantastic experience: I've lived in the area nearly all my life and attended the Centre as a schoolboy. I went back, some 35 years later expecting it to be a dump but was shocked at how brilliant the resources were, how knowledge and friendly ALL the staff were and how safe the environment was - happy to take young families and children. The real gem find for me, which has now had me hooked, was a trainer called MuhabatAllah. He is incredibly knowledgeable, extremely experienced, prefect levels of motivation and inspiration. I've never settled with a trainer despite looking for decades before him. He is a huge asset to the Centre.

Positive experience: Visited in July 2024 and bought one junior and one adult ticket for swimming session but kid’s pool was closed and main pool is very deep for 6 years old as its depth is one meter on one side when I asked them that I paid for my son and he can’t go into deep water then they replied that I should have booked kids swimming lessons to go in kids pool and don’t store your stuff in locker as you can take your stuff into main pool and leave it on side as locker is one pound to use and if you need anything from locker you have to pay one pound each time you lock the locker but overall it’s good experience for adults and kids over seven.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, swimming and sauna steam facilities. I travel far to enjoy their facilities as they are the only leisure facility in birmingham that cater for ladies only leisure in a comprehensive way. They have a wide range of ladies only classes from zumba, bums and tums, yoga and many more. They have a ladies only gym, sauna and make ladies only swimming and steam available throughout the week, not just once a week at unsociable hours like other council run leisure centres. They are friendly and clean and will announce when a male session will be commencing so ladies can gt out of pool in time. You wont have idiot male managers 'accidentally' coming into ladies areas or the swimming pool. Ladies only means just that, they have ladies female lifeguards. All staff are aware of the importance of this segregation for those who choose it. Apart from that it has a casual,relaxed and upbeat atmosphere which you gt into to once there, even if you didnt want to exercise before you soon gt carried by it. I always leave relaxed and happy. Any problems and staff are quick to act upon it. They do have separate male gym and mixed gym classes for those that want it. I have to invest 5 hrs of my day to enjoy this place as i travel on the buses from across town. If thats not a positive advertisement for it , i dont know what is.

Negative experience: Facilities and all of the staff are let down by receptionist "Taz". The most rude, obnoxious, condescending and arrogant person I have ever met in my 50 years on planet Earth. I have watched her on dozens of occasions ridiculing customers, unable to handle the smallest of tasks and God forbid if she has to do two things at once. Management/Owners, this person is the face of your business and really needs retraining in basic customer service at the very least. Reach out to me if you need further clarification In contrast everyone else at the facility that works in the reception area doesnt appear to be put out and as though they are doing the universe a favour by being there.

Positive experience: I frequently travel to the area and work with various opticians on a monthly basis. As a result, I have visit the gym. I must say that overall it is decent and I have not encountered any negative issues with the staff. However, it is worth noting that the gym charges premium rates for its membership. Considering the prices they charge, I expected better facilities. Unfortunately, I have noticed a few areas that require improvement. For instance, some machines have loose rubber handles, which can be hazardous when lifting heavy weights. This should be addressed promptly to prevent any potential injuries. Another concern I have noticed is the gym's slow response to fixing issues. On multiple occasions in the past few months, the leg press machine has been out of order. This is unacceptable, considering that I visit the gym after a few months, meaning the machine has been out of commission for at least two months. If I find the machine still broken during my visit next week, it will mark the third month of this inconvenience. This situation is frustrating and I may consider switching to another gym if the machine remains unrepaired. It is unfortunate that such issues persist, especially considering the prices charged by the gym. I sincerely hope that the management makes maintenance of the facilities a top priority. Additionally, I would suggest that they review their pricing strategy, particularly in an area that may be underprivileged. Kind regards, Steve

Negative experience: This place is lucky to even have 1 star or I would have gave it none this place is Absolutely disgraceful they treated me with disrespect when coming in to reception the reception guy started shouting and not speaking with respect I can’t remember his name but it was the guy with two grey hairs on his bald head when going to swim the life guards especially the WHITE rude one when I was on the ropes as I forgot I weren’t allowed he goes in a rude manner GET OF THE ROPES HOW MANY TIME DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU and I said sorry as I had forgotten HE TOLD ME ME TO PUT IT IN MY HEAD as I tried to turn around and ignore this I felt a plop on my head he did in fact spit on me this outrages also to that little short grimlin manger who thinks she owns the place just cause I ran once she think she can shout at me and send out threats as to kick me out while trying kick out 7 other black boys this is absolutely disgusting The only good person there was the Algerian boy who gave respect to everyone no matter the race as other failed to do so I would rather swim in my sink then ever go there again I expect a reply

Fantastic experience: I recently attended a 10 week series of women only swimming lessons here and the experience was exceptional. Initially, I was petrified of the water, but the instructor Zaynab’s incredible patience and expertise transformed my fear into confidence. By the end of the course, I was able to swim a whole lap, a milestone I never thought possible. Her supportive and encouraging approach made all the difference, turning a daunting experience into an empowering journey. I highly recommend Zaynab and this centre (with special shoutout to the lifeguards Hawa and Paniz) for any woman looking to learn to swim in a comfortable and welcoming environment. The quality of instruction and the positive atmosphere exceeded all my expectations.

Negative experience: I signed up for what it said was a free membership as I was Butchered just after Christmas leaving me with nerves damage and a broken leg where they nearly chopped it off with a machete, and just wanted to start feeling less scared and more normal as now I have PTSD and anxiety, leaving me almost impossible to leave my home with out medication, even so I went to the centre where ok they gave me a 5day try B4 u buy leasure pass, which i used daily to train, swim and stream, once this ran out i went to buy tge full pass which i was told was £29 a month (expencive but it was the 1st time i had felt normal since tge attack so) i managed to save £29 for my membership and went tgere exxited and ready to train, only to be told i had to pay £50 to join as these a £20 joining fee, obviously i was sickend, i only had the £29 as i can never work again and am now stuck on esa and pip due to the attack i suffered, i always womndered why it was always empty when i went and now I know why, how can ppl like me afford £50 out of our benefits to start getting better.!.!. How is this helping local families.?. I was on the verge of working on my physical and mental health and wellbeing, only to be made to feel like a poorper, now i have no job and no reason to get out of bed in the morning and looking bk to that 5day pass now I see it as a massive (F U) showing me something I could never afford with out help, I begged and pleaded for them to charge me the joining fee the following month (NX pay day) but was told there's nothing they could do, they wouldn't even let me train that day with out paying £8 it's ridiculous I'm on crutches so they can see I'm disabled and still couldn't do anything to help me out....THANKS FOR GETTING MY HOPES UP THAT THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER ONLY TO PULL THE RUG FROM UNDERNEATH ME

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with my experience at the gym (specifically the women's side) the gym was closed for almost 3 weeks due to maintenance, customers were told that the gym will be extended. Upon my return, I found that a new section was in fact added to the gym, however MORE cardio machines were placed in the new section, not only that... but the cardio machines are ones that were already in the gymso they just moved the equipment around. So you're telling me, all my gains were gone for 2 cardio machines to be put in the new section? I think that's crazy

Negative experience: Literally lied to me over the phone about their ladies gym memership fee and when I drove there they told me I have to pay £30 as joining membership on the top of £24 fee for the gym ! They could've told me that over the phone but no they had to lie and waste my time and petrol. -5 starts for being incompetent liars .

Negative experience: Waiting time for shower was 30 minutes only two showers working,place was very dirty. I won't be going back for sure ladies only hours I rather use my money somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: I was a member here for about a year and would really recommend it. A big range of classes, from spin to dance fit to Tabata. Lovely welcoming teachers (Jennifer, Maria etc) and the front staff too are a credit to the centre. Facilities are all good too. Only slight issue is the app which occasionally glitches so needs sorting for when you scan in on entry. Coming here was integral to getting back on my fitness journey, and I will miss coming!

Fantastic experience: Started using this facility and really happy with it. I suffer with anxiety and here all the staff made me feel comfortable. Isra one of the lifeguards was approachable and gave clear and concise instructions about the facility. I also found her very informative and it was very clear to me that she was willing to go the extra mile to help and put me at ease. I also found Umar who was at the reception area very helpful and friendly too. Overall a very positive experience and can see myself being here long term.

Negative experience: Rude staff & Dirty Facilities - Awful first time experience. I visited for the first time to the ladies only session, when arriving to the pool I was asked by the lifeguard Isra in the most unprofessional and aggressive manner ‘if I was able to swim 25m comfortably’ I responded by saying its been a while since I’ve swam but I was abruptly told ‘you don’t look like you could swim, this is for confident swimmers only’ After taking a glance into the pool I noticed they were children under 10 and a few groups of women chatting, when I pointed this out I was again aggressively spoken to by this particular team member named Isra. The conversation got heated very quickly after this particular staff member swore and I asked to speak to the manager Amna, who was no better. I told her of my concern and was told I can have my money back and leave. I had travelled over 25 mins and didn’t want a wasted journey, I was then offered my swimming session money back only and can use the sauna facilities. I met several other ladies here who had seen the commotion earlier and mentioned this was not the first time Isra had done this and it was a regular occurrence. One mentioned how she was told ‘are you even fit to be in the pool’ another was told she was unable to go into the pool due to the clothes she was wearing. This is a so-called ‘life guard’ who is making disgusting comments to members of the public and is not acceptable. The toilet/shower areas were filthy, not sure how this is possible when a cleaner was onsite.

Fantastic experience: I've been coming to this gym for around a year. The machines in the gym the are nice and clean and the members are friendly. The only downside is that at busy hours the gym gets crowded. Also the swimming pool is clean and quite large. Special thanks to a lifeguard called Awais, he really helped me improve my swimming even though he didn't have to. I asked him for some tips and he was very patient and helped me improve my swimming journey alot. Hope to see him having his own classes as a teacher. Would definitely join myself and encourage others to join too. Very nice place

Positive experience: I left off one star because the parking situation is a joke other than that great gym Also they should do more sessions of female and child swimming because it’s hard to get a booking

Positive experience: The staff is very nice, always there to help you. However, the gym needs more benches and machines. In addition, it is difficult to find available places for swimming sessions. Hopefully they will open the one in Small Heath soon. Last thing... Why are some staff members walking in the swimming area with their shoes? It is not clean!
