Bridgewood Manor Hotel & Spa

Negative experience: Lovely staff, however we stayed for a short two night trip and found black mould in the room. Also no bathrobes even though we upgraded. The fries were yummy.

Negative experience: Very disappointed , the swimming pool was closed and we were not notified prior to coming. The reception lady was quite rude and demanding trying to intimate us saying this is company policy. Our treatments were also pushed back by two hours. I don't recommend it, not worth the money.

Fantastic experience: Visited the Bridgewood Manor for an afternoon tea with some friends, lovely atmosphere and great food. Ellie was very welcoming and polite, pointing us in the right direction for a great afternoon.

Fantastic experience: It was a beautiful environment, the service was professional. Cherry was my masseuse and she was lovely, made me feel comfortable and had a great chat with her.

Negative experience: Oh my god, if I could sum up in one sentence of advice, it would be “don’t waste your money on the Spa”. Staff were unwelcoming, more interested in gossiping with colleagues and playing on mobile phones rather than providing a reception and/or any customer service. That was just the start! We had paid £179 + £20 (supplement for a weekend) for a Spa package. Just to clarify, I would not class this place as a Spa by any means. Whole hotel and Spa is worn, abused decor, extremely tired, dirty carpets, battered entrance/exit doors and frames. In the Spa there were chipped floor tiles, mould scum around the edge of the pool (if you can call it a pool as can barely swing a cat let alone do a swimming length). Changing rooms dirty/unkept, lockers all broken and battered. Sauna and steam room is only fit for 2/3 people at anyone time. There were only 6 sun “chill” loungers around by the edge of the pool, which isn’t enough when you have treatment bookings back to back. Treatment rooms were also really tired. We booked a couple’s treatment session but were separated into separate rooms. Furniture in these rooms looked old and wall cupboards had been painted so many times they were jammed shut. The sinks were mouldy and discoloured with age. The whole place is really disappointing and this was my first visit (and the last). Not worth £20 a couple let alone just under £200 couple price we paid. Inclusive lunch was also poor, they allowed you to choose from a small “package” menu which consisted of a small sandwich with one of the cheap menu fillings, then had to pay if you wanted any drink or any chips, which normally would come inclusive with these types of packages. Extremely disappointing experience. Save your money and hunt down a “proper” spa!

Fantastic experience: The Bar We were looked after by Kenny!!!! He is extremely friendly and has a great approach with customers, his character and positive personality makes the whole experience incredible, I feel he is manager material, not sure if he already is? My sister and I have had a lovely spa experience, we have an annual trip here, which has been lovely this time. Our room was a bit too hot, we were unable to turn the radiator down, however it was still a lovely stay

Positive experience: After a day's driving round London, this hotel is an oasis. My only complaint was we were next to the entrance and so got woken all the time. Menu interesting, beds comfy, pool packed by 10am. Staff nice. Both businesses people and people dressed for dinner staying. Far enough from the road but some planes.

Positive experience: Had Spa day there, quite small place. Some people ware loud and service didn’t do anything about it. Was hard to relax with them shouting and jumping to the pool. We order couple massage but they send you to two separate rooms. Little sounds and steam room out of order

Negative experience: Got a spa day there. The spa is tired and unkempt, dirty and nothing works. The showers keep running for half an hour after you use them, the pool is cold, the air is cold, the steam room is tiny and hasn't worked in days apparently, the sauna is a shoebox, the toilets and changing rooms are dirty and the decor is soviet. There's also no seating capacity anywhere. Staff was nice but definitely not worth the price. Don't use the spa because it is not a spa.

Positive experience: Spent a couple if nights here while visiting The Big cat sanctuary. Very comfortable. Friendly staff Pool was lovely. Food and drink a bit pricey but there are other alternatives.

Positive experience: The hotel is clean and quiet for relaxation and reflection purposes. However, the spa therapists needs to improve in their massaging techniques (stronger and firmer hands). Overall, we enjoyed the facilities available in the hotel.

Negative experience: As you're cashless I shall not be using you again. There is nothing convenient and exciting about shutting out a large section of potential customers. I do hope you reverse this absurd policy.

Fantastic experience: I had afternoon tea here with my wife and we were very impressed. We were served by Kenny who made us feel welcome and was very attentive. The food and drink were very good and the environment cosy. We had a lovely time.

Fantastic experience: Kenny with Morgan was extremely friendly and helpful recommending Burmese lemon grass chicken curry which was very tasty for our lunch in the Squires bar

Positive experience: It's a nice hotel actually and the food is good. We thought the room price was very reasonable and then found out that they gouge you on the drinks. £40 for a bog standard bottle of sauvignon blanc! If you don't drink, stay at this place. I've yet to get my deposit back though

Positive experience: Stayed 2 nights using a Red Letter Days voucher, with OH for our wedding anniversary. I'm a Maid of Kent by birth and fancied a trip to my 'home' county... and see the historic shipyards. Hotel is easy to get to from main roads but didn't seem too noisy despite that. Decor a bit tired and confusingly updated in places but, we had an excellent set menu 3 course meal one evening (great value and really good) jn Squires, that was way better than a pub we chose for our second night. Couldn't fault our meal, and breakfasts were good too, loads of choice and tasty. Bar staff a bit tardy. Popular place for weddings and parties. Gym was OK according to my husband and small pool very warm and relaxing, if you time it to avoid a crowd.

Negative experience: Visited the spa for a spa day for 2 last weekend and was really disappointed The £179 experience said it included a 60 minute treatment but it was only 45, the sauna and steam room got closed at midday due to a bug infestation which was being openly discussed by staff at the poolside, and with no hot hub at this location, that only left the pool available. The light lunch was an underwhelming, and slightly stale sandwich. Not quite the relaxing experience we were looking forward to.

Negative experience: I visited Bridgewood Manor for its spa & for lunch. The spa treatments were lovely and the staff were very friendly. However, we were very disappointed with our lunch. We were booked in to eat at 2pm, and we didn’t receive our sandwiches until 2:40pm. The sandwiches were ok, but a let down after such a long wait. We also had to wait around for our dessert, so we decided to ask for a takeaway box as the wait has just gotten ridiculous.

Negative experience: Spa Day We weren't given a tour, literally pointed to where to go. The facilities in the changing rooms were dated and therefore looked dirty. They were also chilly. Not enough beds round pool to relax or any other beds to chill in. Restaurant was only one person serving the whole hotel. This meant mistakes happened because he could do it all. Overall needs a revamp and review of other spas and what they are offering customers

Fantastic experience: We has a great day. Very accommodating adding an extra bed for our son. Pool was lovely.. changing rooms could do with an upgrade (ceiling etc) but they were clean. Room was spacious and super clean. Bar staff were super friendly...Kenny amd Summer were great. The food at the bar was really well cooked and presented. Close to diggerland so was perfect for us.

Fantastic experience: Had a Groupon voucher spa day for two with lunch. Wasn’t expecting much but boy were we pleasantly surprised. Friendly helpful staff. The treatment facial and shoulder massage were truly amazing. So relaxing and the products left our skin feeling rejuvenated. Usually we feel our skin is claggy and can’t wait to wash it off. Holly was such a relaxing influence and very informative so much so I ended up buying the products she recommended. Much to my bank balance horror!! Lunch was two courses four choices of sandwich/fishcakes and desserts. Both were really nice and a good choice.

Fantastic experience: I bought a voucher for a spa & overnight stay as a present for my mum and we have been delighted with the service from the moment we arrived. The spa was very professional and we each had a very relaxing treatment followed by an evening meal served by Megan and we have to say she couldn’t of been nicer, attentive, and caring towards our dietary needs, she is a real asset.

Positive experience: I booked the hotel purely because I’ve before and had a greater experience but and to be honest I was a little bit upset as the room I was given wasn’t as the same standard as I’ve had before. The only reason I came back was purely because of the room and the standard it was. But one thing I will say was at the bar, I had Kenny as a bar attendee and what a man he was. He control the bar , he knew exactly what we wanted he remembered our drinks and made sure we was okay. He was polite , respectfully and made our experience so much better. Kenny was great and I can’t thank him enough for making our experience so lovely while we was away.

Fantastic experience: We held my Mum's after funeral celebration of life at Bridgewood Manor Hotel. From my first phone call to the minute we left all staff we met were so helpful, attentive and professional. Its clear all staff take pride in what they do, their care made a hard experience so much easier. Didn't catch everyone's names but Camilla in the events team was so very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Josh in Operations helpfully set the room so quickly, and allowed us to put up the memory table and other decorations the day before. Kelly was our meet and greet person, she was always on hand and checking we were ok. She also went above and beyond by arranging my Dad's shoe to be fixed the moment we arrived. Food was amazing for both our vegan and non vegan guests. So many lovely comments from our guests about the food and how lovely the room, and the hotel grounds were. Thank you so much Bridgewood Manor staff.

Fantastic experience: Stayed for 2 nights on a package deal. We had 2 treatments and 2 evening meals. Staff were very attentive, happy and helpful. Room was nice. My only criticism on the room was lack of plug sockets boiling the kettle was a bit of a problem. The spa was nice but pool small and lack of loungers was quite frustrating. Overall a nice pleasant stay.

Negative experience: Didn't sleep here. Only ordered a vegetable curry for £18.50. 'Poppadoms' are terrible. You get half a tiny 'naan' which was not well cooked so was doughy, and isn't real naan, but tasted OK. Veg curry and rice tasted good but tiny portion. Looking at my photos I've uploaded, note that the plate is shallow which you can't see as there's food in it. For the price I expected much more. Terrible and quite frankly theft of your money. It's obvious rice came in a packet they stick in the microwave. Same for the curry. Not much in the way on veg in diversity. Orange pieces were undercooked. DO NOT EAT HERE

Positive experience: Rooms are good, staff good, nice little hotel but sadly rooms are unbearably hot. No aircon and windows only open a smidge, you'd struggle in a heat wave.

Fantastic experience: We had a spa day here. All staff we encountered were friendly. Our treatments were really good. The sauna and steam room are quite small but it was not that busy so never had to wait to use them. The pool was a lovely temperature. Lunch was delicious.

The room cleanliness is of such a high standard I used to own a cleaning company and I could not find fault with anything - the rooms may be outdated but extremely clean so hats off to the team! All staff in the corridors are so friendly, breakfast was nice as well . I had a great stay and will definitely be back.

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful stay. The staff were excellent. We loved the room, very clean and room service were quick and brought us exactly what we needed. We had 50 min treatment, I had Tracy and she made me feel very relaxed. We enjoyed a 3 course meal, the French onion soup was out of this world. My choice of main was vegetarian and was refreshing to get a specially prepared dish. Great choice of desserts too. We were very impressed. We woke in the morning to the promise of a delicious breakfast and we were not disappointed, so much choice and all choices delicious. I must also mention the waiters, they were excellent, the service was great. A brilliant stay, thank you.

Negative experience: Stayed here last night and my stay wasn’t great. My room was very hot and the fresh paint smell, although great it was just painted was so over powering and meant I needed the window open all night. The outside is need the road so very loud. The restaurant was fully booked, offered to eat in the bar area but the bar was full too. They were very short staffed, a lot of people frustrated and a number complaining. The staff issues continued to the morning. Felt very uncomfortable as a solo traveller.

Negative experience: We were totally disappointed with our 25 minutes massage. Because it wasn't 25 minutes!!!!!!!!! I went in late. Was told to get ready and get on the bed while the girl left the room for quite a while. The massage was over so quickly i checked my watch and pointed out that there was still time left. The girl had guessed the time. She carried on again for a few minutes but was definitely in a hurry to get away. NOT AT ALL RELAXING!!!!!

Fantastic experience: My wife , son and I went in for breakfast and was amazed by the quality and variety of food that we was offered for the price and how on the ball the staff was to make sure everything was topped up ready for the next guest, the politeness was second to none. Jacqueline, Medihah,Alexandra,Carmen and Beeni well done. we look forward to visiting again.

Positive experience: I came here for a spa day, the entire treatment (facial & body massage& afternoon tea) was amazing, my therapist Jess made the whole experiences fantastic with her warm personality. My facial came with a leg massage and she asked if I wanted to switch the leg massage for a shoulder massage instead. Fantastic spa but the restaurant wasn’t the best, I waited more than 30 minutes for my afternoon. Other than that, I really enjoy my time here

Positive experience: The room smell of cigarette the manager brought air fresher spray to mask the smell she said that she couldn't move us as there is a wedding party. Very sad about this.

Fantastic experience: The hotel is great but the restaurant is awful. Tasty food but we were served after 1h when we pas the order. There is a management problem.

Negative experience: From the moment we arrived 70% of the staff were so miserable and unfriendly. Then every night was spoilt by yobs in the seating areas shouting, swearing etc. We paid £25 for sea bass main and when cutting into the potato gratin they were frozen, the meal was taken back and they got taken off and meal brought back out, unbelievable service. The whole hotel including the swimming pool are very run down and steam room was broken over our stay last week.. Wouldn't go back again..

Fantastic experience: Today for my mums 84 birthday we went for afternoon tea at The Bridgewood Hotel. The food was really good and plenty of it! The. Service we had from Caitlin was exceptional, she refilled the tea and coffee frequently and checked we had everything. She was professional, friendly and polite. She had also decorated the area we were in with birthday theme. Thank you Caitlin!

Negative experience: On our wedding night we arrived at an empty reception where we waited for over 10 minutes with no acknowledgement of our presence. Used the telephone purposely put there to reach a member of staff numerous times with no success. Knocking on surrounding doors and calling out for anyone to help. Finally looking through doors leading to the closed off breakfast area there we're three members of staff sitting. They immediately came out startled apologising as they could see by this time we were very frustrated, and upset and irate. One announced they were on a hand over and another stated they're entitled to a break and reminded us of the telephone on the desk (which we proved to be faulty there and then) They handed us our room key, asked if we wanted a complimentary bottle of prosecco which we replied we definitely do not feel like celebrating anymore. Finally found our room which was adjoining via an internal door which wasn't sound proofed and could hear the noisy guests next door. Requested a different room which the staff gave us. That was our wedding night. The morning my wife and I didn't feel like using the spa and facilities that we packed especially for, decided to cut our day short checked out. The response there was "Thank you that's all done." No account of the previous night's events . We then asked to speak to management who took notes and contact details so to escalate to their higher management. Today, two days later we contacted senior management ourselves who had not contacted us, thought everything had been resolved after reviewing the events but not informing us. Stated everything possible was and has been done. (A bottle of prosecco, an upgraded room on the night and added complimentary afternoon tea at a later date). Which definitely was not appealing to either of us after the poor poor levels of service we received at Bridgewood Manor. Our wedding night was ruined. Please draw your own conclusions.

Positive experience: Had the pleasure of staying here due to a business trip. Pleasant greeting by the receptionist, bright and nicely decorated entrance. On entering the room it is clean and well presented. One negative though - total lack of plugs near the bed or easily accessible at the desk. Only plugs available is one behind the tv where I’ve had to pull the cabinet out to access otherwise a plug at floor level at the door. Where am I expected to plug the kettle in?? In the modern age with mobile phones and business travellers needing to work in the room this is very disappointing.

Fantastic experience: Came for spa day and lunch, stayed over night. Food we tasted was very good, staff friendly and helpful. Room was hot with no fan, had window open but was woken to people having sex outside the window. So area a little tired and the stream room was not working

Fantastic experience: We swim at Bridgewood with Puddle ducks and always stop for a coffee afterwards. We have 3 active toddlers who do like to run around, we always feel welcome. Special mention to Billy who always takes time to talk to the children and make them a hot chocolate with squirty cream which they love!

From the moment we were seated, Madison's warm and welcoming demeanor made us feel right at home. Her knowledge of the menu and insightful recommendations truly enhanced our dining experience. Thanks to Madison and Millie, our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. I could have asked the chef to serve faster as we did have to wait a little too long for the course to come out but still going to give 5 stars because it was very tasty!

Positive experience: I visited with a friend for a spa day. My treatment (revitalising scrub & back massage) was just what I needed & would recommend. However the pool area is in need of a revamp. Everything is looking very tired. The steam room and sauna are particularly small and only one shower worked (just about). There is no jacuzzi here which was another disappointment. We didn't feel like we wanted to stay very long. We had lunch in the bar. The lunch menu was limited, mostly dinners on offer. They are all very expensive. Not all options were available from the hot drinks menu either. It's ok to visit but only if you manage to get a cheap voucher deal.

Fantastic experience: Had a spa day today and what an experience it was, friendly and very helpful staff it’s was all just amazing! Massive thank you to Jess my treatment was amazing! Harvey also a massive help will definitely be returning.
