Positive experience: I booked in for a full body massage which was excellent and at £70 for an hour honestly not bad value. Unfortunately once I headed into the rest of the spa I didn’t stay long - it was filthy and run down. Black mould all over the walls, green marks all over the glass, random dirt on the floor, I found it hard to relax when also trying to be careful about what I touched. I enjoyed the treatment but if I’d booked for a spa day I’d feel hard done by.

Positive experience: Great place to workout and relax. Staff is mixed. Some are really friendly/helpful and some are unbothered with an attitude. I don't like the fact that they charge you £1 to borrow a towel.

Positive experience: Great massage and facial in the spa with Lucy , I would highly recommend to book with her , great day very chilled. The only downside is walking through reception in your dressing gown in front of people In meetings & dressed up for lunch to get your afternoon tea, which some would feel uncomfortable about

Positive experience: Me and a friend booked a day pass for £25 each- were really excited to go as a treat. Were left disappointed- hot/cold shower felt like a regular shower temperature,with the cold not working. Ice room was open but not on, with no ice. The steam room, sauna and aroma room were all poor quality- all rooms were the same- steamy. There was no difference in the temperature or heat of the rooms, which we were expecting, especially because the sauna was supposed to be hot. The thing we found most disappointing was that we weren't made aware of any of the issues beforehand- as we had paid on the day at reception. All of the regulars said this was a common occurance with broken/ poor quality equipment. We ended up staying there for 30 mins before deciding to complain to reception, who said they were hoping for it to be fixed in a few weeks. Even if it was fixed, we both decided we wouldn't come again. Only saving element was that we were refunded quickly.

Positive experience: Booked this venue via groupon as a coupes valentines day treat and we booked the oil and himalayan salt rub The venue is really nice and the staff were friendly. we were given the towel and robe and left a deposit for the locker key. The salt rub was really good and i felt a lot better for it, however my main issue is with the provided robes. They only provided one size which for my partner was a bit on the small side and didnt cover her correctly and it made her feel uncomfortable not being as covered up as she expected. Perhaps it may be worth getting some additional sizes, both larger and smaller? the pool was nice, although warmer water would have been preferred but the area was very clean. The blue ambient lighting on the pool roof was defective on our vist with only half of them working but thats only minor The Steam Room, Sauna, and aromatherapy rooms were very nice. They we clean and relaxing. The ice igloo isnt my cup of tea but its nice that its there if needed I did expect the Experience shower to be hotter than it was too, at a guess it was approx 38-40c. The showers in the changing rooms got much hotter than that shower did. Speaking of the showers in the changing room they're very good, great water pressure and they can get very hot or cold. Overall, a very clean facility and the spa services themselves were very good with the staff being friendly. Areas for improvement would be a wider range of robe sizes, or a notification before or after booking stating if you're below or above average sizing to bring your own. I personally would have preferred a warmer pool and warmer experience shower but again thats down to personal preference

Positive experience: Dated, small gym, but useful spa area and the sauna is good. Good do with a revamp and modern gym equipment but overall gets the job done.

Negative experience: I went swimming today in the pool there was tissue paper in the water it made me feel sick coz I don't know where its been let staff know they were going to look into it.

Positive experience: Thermal baths are nice, ice in igloo would have been better as chips rather than cubes tho

Negative experience: Terrible customer service. Over 25s rule is poorly advertised meaning money was wasted with no offer for a refund. Was like she was reading a script off the screen.

Negative experience: Miserable women on reception, clearly hungover from New Years Eve. Not helpful at all, couldn’t even crack a smile. Poor showing of customer service, Nuffield Health were far better.

Negative experience: Spa facilities are shabby and dirty. Came here around 2014/15 and remember it being great. Bought a deal on Groupon for 2 of us to have 3 hour spa facilities and a treatment and we spent about half an hour in the “facilities” before sacking it off to go for lunch and a drink to kill time before our treatments instead. The absolute state of the robe and towel I was presented were frankly shameful - tatty, ripped and threadbare. The changing rooms, pool area and spa itself is very tired and sad. Black mould in all the grout, stains, broken tiles. One of the spa rooms was closed and switched off but no signage so you open the door for the aromatherapy room for it to just be a pitch black, room temp, non-scented room. Hot tub has actually been filled in since the last time I came so there is no actual spa pool! Floor of the entire spa and poolside soaking wet the whole time. Actually had to pluck a piece of litter out of the pool … the spa therapists and treatment were lovely though. But honestly the place needs closing for a full refurb or they need to cut their prices by about 75%.

Negative experience: The location is great and staff at the reception is friendly. Unfortunately, as you can see from the photos, the black mold and dilapidated facility are disappointing. Also, the PT at the gym can confiscate the machine even if you are using it if he needs it for his PT session. Not an enjoyable experience overall.

Fantastic experience: This place is my home away from home. Really good gym, pool, steam room, sauna, ice cave, aromatherapy room, experience shower, and relaxation area. The hot chocolate in reception is the best in town. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the people that use the facilities are really nice too. Highly recommended.

Positive experience: One of the only places in sheffield with an heated indoor pool. Though, once a upon a time they had good facilities, now it’s slowly falling apart.

Positive experience: We came to the spa as part of a package on spa seekers, staying at the Mercure hotel. The spa was nice. There wasn't anyone on reception when we got there so that wasn't helpful, but we checked in and got given towels and went into the changing rooms. The pool is a nice size. The sauna, steam and this other room were good. They have an ice igloo but this isn't really cold at all, and also they turned some of the rooms off at like 5:30-6pm even though the spa stays open until 8pm which was a bit annoying. There isn't enough loungers/chairs around the pool either in my opinion. But when it was time for our treatment we went upstairs and again there was no one on reception. The therapist however, and the treatments were stunning. We had the Himalayan salt scrub and the marine back treatment. It is a nice sow to go to and the gym is also a good size, but it can get a little busy

Positive experience: The spa was dirty. Actual dirt on the walls. The ceiling had cracks in it that clearly been patched and repatched. The filters in the ceiling of the pool side were filthy. Igloo room has cracks in the ceiling and had chuncks out of the air-conditioning units. The spa was over packed with unsupervised children screaming. While not necclesserily the spa fault there wasnt any staff around bar one person on the desk. The treatments were fantastic and the ladies doing the treatments were lovely. Frankly theyre the only reason why this has any stars at all. We used to recommend this place to others all the time but we wont be now.

Negative experience: Visited here and wished to join a membership. Was told to hold off as there was Black Friday offers and wait till they are put in place. I tried ringing over the weekend as advised and no one answered. Then I received a snotty response from a manager after I emailed after the weekend saying ‘the offers now expired’. No apology or reasoning. After trying all weekend to get in touch no one bothered to respond or get back to me. Going to find another gym that actually has decent customer service.

Positive experience: The spa itself, like the sauna, steam & other rooms were very small and could only fit less than a handfull of people at any one time. This would normally be OK if there were more rooms, but there are very few. Also, some of the rooms weren't working properly. Aside from this, the actual beauty suite experience was great, my husband and I had a back, neck and shoulder massage and we both thorough enjoyed this, and felt completely relaxed afterwards. The therapists are obviously highly trained and use quality massaging methods.

Positive experience: This is a review about the pool area only. So first of all, they have this really outdated system where by you have to give something of value over, such as car keys or a credit card or your membership card, to act as surity for a locker key. This key is on a safety pin and you have to pin it to your swimming costume. The pool is on a separate floor, two floors down from the reception. The changing room and lockers are a bit run down and not cleaned enough though the day. They are too small and people are often jostling together to get to their locker. The showers need an upgrade. The shower gel is very low quality and not good enough to wash your hair with. The pool area needs cleaning more frequently. I often see empty cups, disgarded pairs of the white slippers from the hotel guests and things such as plasters on the floor. The pool is usually busy with one lane used for children's swimming lessons pretty much all the time. As it's a hotel pool often you get groups of guests just hanging around in the water chatting and getting in the way of people trying to swim for fitness. Sometimes grown adults even just splash around like kids, because they are acting like they are on holiday. So essentially there is a tension between the gym membership people who want to use the pool for fitness and the spa day guests who are having a bit of a mini break. The steam and sauna rooms are also in need of updating. The sauna has a cold draught coming up from underneath the wooden benches. Sometimes it's impossible to relax if too many people are talking loudly. If you are lucky though then the steam rooms are very pleasant when people are being quiet. Towels are provided as part of my membership but they are thin and scratchy. If the management could just get a grip on the behaviour of some people and possibly institute at least one day dedicated lane for fitness swimming then the experience would be improved.

Negative experience: Run down, over priced. Do not book. We unfortunately booked a day spa at spa Natural at the sheffield mercure including lunch £119 per person. Everything was dingy, unclean and service was apathetic. We left before the treatment as the whole place was so poorly ventilated and clean that we didn’t want to stay. Facilities are worse than a council run gym. Incredibly overpriced. We were unable to obtain a refund despite not having the treatment. It’s a joke to charge this much when a comparable spa would have such higher standards. Mercure management, if you read this, please contact me to arrange a refund.

Positive experience: I had a Neck, shoulder and scalp massage and it was Brill I forgot to get the lady's name she was great! (She has dark hair and has a European accent) Was feeling really relaxed afterwards. Only suggestion would be that they lay some sort of rubber mats along where you walk, the slippers provided didn't stop you slipping on the wet floor.

Positive experience: Lovely day, spa was v enjoyable , let down only by the afternoon tea which offered limited choice and was v dry!

Negative experience: Booked a spa day with multiple treatments. The treatments themselves were good, but seemed incredibly rushed. For e.g. a 55 min advertised massage was done in 40 minutes (there wasn't 15 mins consultation time either). The "deluxe pedicure" was pleasant but definitely not "deluxe" - sadly I've had better pedicures in ordinary salons - it was a bit of a file, then polish... no treatments/foot massages as I would have expected for the price. The spa itself again, was mixed. Lots of broken pipes/machines making wierd sounds, unfinished/flaky walls and the steam rooms weren't working properly. It also appeared that they have overbooked at times, as there were multiple groups booked in being rather loud which spoiled the atmosphere. I had to use my headphones to try block out the sound of them and try relax. The staff were polite and friendly but were clearly rushed off their feet. This also meant I struggled to get any of the drinks included in my package (and didn't get the "glass of fizz" promised either.) Lunch was fantastic. Their afternoon tea was delicious and definitely a highlight of the day.

Positive experience: Love the pool and steam room but it's all looking a bit tired and needs a refresh and some cash spending on it.

Positive experience: Not bad when actually there but impossible to get through to them on phone. Booked an experience day voucher which you have to call in to book. Can never get through and they don't call ba k when you leave a message.

Fantastic experience: Stayed in the hotel as a week away and went down to the spa for some treatments with Lydia I had a full body massage and Decleor vitamin glow facial and it was amazing! She is so amazing at her job and so lovely to be around, Emma one of the other therapists was on reception while I was waiting for my treatment too and she was very friendly and chatty x Lydia was really helpful with my skin and gave me some really good advice and she is very knowledgable about the topic x Later that day I went and bought some products she had used and she was very patient and allowed me to have a good look at everything x the next day I went down to the spa area for the pool and steam rooms , which are amazing too i felt very comfortable and relaxed, and Amelia was on reception and again she was so lovely and helpful and made me feel very welcomed x Overall an amazing visit and such lovely staff x Will be returning

Positive experience: I have recently started a membership for the spa. The place has been nice until fairly recently, when covid-19 restrictions were lifted. Up to this point, you could enjoy a relaxing swim or an energising work-out at the gym, however, unfortunately, this is no longer possible. Screaming kids and rude clientele in general, have made this place a haven of distress and disappointment, if one wants to disregard the shower room poor hygiene and general maintenance of the shared facilities. The high tariffs and the numerous bookings this place has had recently should make it a nicer place to enjoy an afternoon after work. Sadly, however, you may be disappointed as the amount of people attending often makes social distancing impossible, with the chance you might not even be able to use facilities like the pool on busy occasions. Overall a nice place, but better management and maintenance are needed.

Positive experience: Good length day considering you can show up from 9:30 and don't have to leave while 20:00. A bit disappointed that when we bought the spa day with a 40 min massage that it wasnt explained until we recieved the conformation email that the sauna, steam, ice and aroma therapy rooms weren't available. I know this is due to covid as explained in the email but it could have been shown more clearly on the website before booking and it could have included a longer message due to the reduced services that was given.

Fantastic experience: This is a very nice Spa. It has speciality in aromatherapy. The facilities include pool, dry and wet sauna, aroma-sauna, ice room, gym and choice of massages. The Spa Naturel is in the Mercury hotel. Best entrance from the Millennium gallery side.

Positive experience: Like a member you have access to swimming pool, 4 kinds of sauna, experience shower and well equipped gym. There is an option of workout classes or personal trainer. The only minus is the state of the object and poor cleaning service, I mean really poor.

Fantastic experience: Amazing Spa very clean . The recption staff are very friendly. The treatments are wonderful. I have seen 3 different massage therapist and they have all been good. Shelby was fantastic. I was in a lot of back pain and she really helped it. She is very professional. She made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I am going to book in with her again.

Positive experience: Average spa overall. Pool is used by hotel guests so gets very busy. We also paid for a 40min treatment but the masseuse called us in 8mins late and it then finished a couple of minutes early so only 30mins in the end. Felt a bit ripped off. The changing rooms are also very cramped and a bit dated and grotty. Nothing special.

Positive experience: Staff are lovely, pool is small and shallow and calming with plenty of noodles and floats to use as well as loungers. The sauna has just been re-fitted, and steam room is a lovely temperature. The carpets leading down to the changing rooms and to the gym are in need of replacing, as they are worn through in places. The gym itself has the basic cardio and free weight equipment with large fans dotted around but no air conditioning (which is fine by me). There is also a large room for classes attached. The ladies changing room in need of a revamp as ceiling has leaked (apparently go the second year in a row) and warped some of the lockers and ceiling tiles. It's also just a bit too small and in summer very warm, and when 5 people are in there it becomes a bit awkward trying to get round one another.

Fantastic experience: Had a spa day package bought for a birthday treat. Lovely day the staff were polite friendly and helpful. The treatments were very good as were the facilities, swimming, gym and steam rooms all beautifully clean. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
