Positive experience: Quite small but nice and clean and quiet

Negative experience: The staff are friendly and it is a good starter gym that isn’t too overcrowded or intimidating for beginners. However, equipment is sometimes left unfixed and out of use for extended periods of time. Also, you are locked into a minimum one year contract which I would never sign up to again. Not only that, but after cancelling and having this confirmed in writing with no further amounts to be paid, they are still trying to charge me for a service they are no longer providing! Getting hold of someone on the phone is a nightmare. Many of my emails have been ignored. I will be speaking to Trading Standards if this persists for harassment.

Negative experience: I'm a member of Anytime Fitness Reading and in comparison, Winchester is a huge let down in the franchise. I don't have a problem with a small gym but some of the equipment was not working and the programmes weren't loading on the treadmills. I like to clean the equipment before and after I use it but there was no cleaning cloth available. Also, the gym needs a good clean and a better welcome by staff would be really appreciated. Come on Anytime, you need to pull your socks up on this one!

Fantastic experience: I've trained at a number of gyms, and Anytime Fitness Winchester has the friendliest staff and the cleanest facility by far. It's not massive, but has everything you need and I've never had to wait to use any equipment.

Fantastic experience: I’ve Been a few times to anytime fitness in Winchester I live in Poole but have friends and family there, so im more than willing to make the journey up to Winchester when I can not just to see my family but to see the guys and get a good session in! Always kind helpful and polite and willing to meet any needs you might have, keep smashing it guys your all amazing! One of my favourite gyms not just because of the quality equipment but the environment the staff create.

Fantastic experience: Been looking for a new gym and this one hits the spot. All the right equipment, friendly staff, and very hygienic. The only downside (not the gym's fault) is the usual atrocious Winchester parking. So do what I do and go after 7pm when all parking is free

Negative experience: Been an anytime fitness member in multiple locations for the last 5 years- however this is by far the worst branch. Very very small, limited equipment all for the same price and you have to pay to park. Needs to be at least 3x the size to have any competitive edge

Negative experience: I don't think they are worth 1 star to be honest. This gym has continued to take money out of my bank account after I had left. I asked for the money back and they refused. When I was a member, I felt I had to leave due to the fact that the facilities were entirely unclean, and the showers, toilets and sinks were rarely cleaned. Even after I complained about the cleaning. Not nice people I'm afraid.

Fantastic experience: My regular gym. Nice place to go.

Negative experience: Way to expensive for what you get I bought a one month membership for 40 pounds which they did as a favour, as usually you have to sign on for longer. But even so I didn’t feel like I’d got a good deal. It’s to small the equipment is old and the only changing spaces are smelly small rooms one of which had a carpet floor.

Positive experience: Great gym with equally as great instructors. Members are usually pretty respectable of each other. It is very small and therefore VERY limiting when busy. Also pretty expensive for a gym but you do get one personal training session at the beginning. You do have to sign a contract though which I'm not a fan of and would prefer to just pay as I go instead.

Negative experience: Gyms small , too small. Equipment is outdated and always queuing to use weights. Only 3 running machines and 1 bike! And now I want to cancel my contract they aren't letting me and keep saying I owe a month and need to pay another month to cancel. Worst gym I've ever used. Shut it down and make a spa instead.

Negative experience: Was fine up until I tried to cancel my membership, staff then became rude, unhelpful and left me for over 10 minutes while they "grabbed forms" that they never returned with. While they were doing this I heard them crack jokes aimed at me. This place is fine if you stay a member forever.

Fantastic experience: From the moment I joined, I have nothing but praise for all the staff. I particularly have had amazing help from Hayley, she is the reason I still go. I have now got Steph as a trainer who is a 'tough' sweetheart. I absolutely rate this gym and advise people to give it a go!.

Negative experience: Range of equipment is good but the gym is really small and the bathrooms are very dated. There is only one toilet and it’s never clean - I use the gym close to work now.

Positive experience: Been there for 4 months and it's really changed my life in terms of being much stronger, fitter and being able to.keep up with the kids. The gym is kept nice and clean and has a good range of machines/weights for its size. The cardio machines are quite hi tech and it's usefull to be able to log in with a phone and capture the workout results. The other users keep themselves to themselves and concentrate on their workouts really but have seemed very friendly and polite enough when I've had cause to speak to them. However the mat area is too small, it holds 3 people max and it's sometimes difficult to find time on it. This is not really the gyms fault because there are space constraints, it is what it is. The music is a good mix and the volume is just right. I've made good use of the other gyms when working away such as ones in Glendale CA and Wimbledon and Eastleigh. I was amazed and impressed that when visiting the LA branch my keyfob just worked. There's no excuse for slacking off when away as there is always one within a few miles wherever you are in the world . Ironically, though, they all seem to be bigger than this branch. The showers are good but as others have said, you need to time you're run at busier times. I think pricing is fair considering you get access to the all branches at all times. Overall, despite the cozy size its still a good little Gym.

Negative experience: Incredibly small gym. Good for someone who would use the 24 hour feature but personally it was way too busy and cramped for when i like to go, but all the equipment is there that you need and kept clean. The contracts are very limited and you're stuck in a 12 month contract for well over £30, although there is an option to cancel within a 7 day window after first joining. About 18 months ago after informing one of the staff i wanted to cancel (well within the 7 day period) - because of feeling awkward in the cramped area downstairs and feeling that i wouldn't benefit from the 'open all hours' service - i was scoffed at and told only women and older people usually have that problem (early 20s guy). I'm generally a pretty self-confident person so this didn't bother me but was a little shocked at this response. I don't recommend this gym; there are cheaper and bigger gyms in Winchester with easier access to parking.

Positive experience: Top gym and top staff... Love the place!!!

Negative experience: A small gym mostly set downstairs under a coffee shop. There is not much space for stretching and the gym does not offer classes. Staff seem to be friendly and there is a decent range of equipment available for the gyms size. There is a new gym opening in town in July that's alot cheaper (about £13-15 less a month) and will offer classes which appeals to me. Anytime have made no efforts to retain their current members which is a shame.

Negative experience: Upon entering and posing interest in joining you'll be greeted by an employee who arranges for you to speak with their on site salesman, the salesman will then proceed to try and have a heart to heart conversation with you, revealing his personal traumas and challenges, very much endearing you to him and softening your sensible scepticism. He really is quite the effective manipulator, after readying you for the sales pitch he proceeds to have you sign a 12 month contract at £35 a month, with a starting fee of the same price and no option for a shorter contract or an opt out clause. Lesson learnt, if a fat guy works for a gym, he works exclusively as the slimey salesman.

Positive experience: Good gym for: Flexible workout times, Strength training, Location, Price. Bad gym for: Space, groups, parking, anything but the actual workout One of the best gyms in Winchester without a massive price tag. The equipment is good quality, and varied (lots of free weights and a really good selection of resistance as well as cardio machines) and the changing rooms are very nice (think hotel bathroom). I went to this gym for 3 years and it suited me well due to it's location and the fact that it is open 24 hours a day. However, I used to fit my workout between 23:30 and 7:00 am due to the fact that the gym gets easily crowded. Also the limited number of showers meant that there was no guarantee you could shower as soon as you finish exercising which is not great if like me, the gym is a stop on your morning commute.

Positive experience: Joined this gym as a way to stay fit at Uni. It's provided me with a great space/range of equipment to work out with. Combined with the supportive staff it makes this overall a good gym in the Winchester area.

Fantastic experience: life style and gym had always been a problem for me as there was never the right time to get to the gym, I was either working or looking after my family and the free time I have to get to a gym I couldn't find one to suit until I joined here, I can go in at my own convenience. The gym is tidy clean and friendly.

Fantastic experience: Joined this gym 2 years ago and not had any problems. The 24 hour access is super useful, the staff are brilliant and the range of equiptment fits all purposes. After a month of being a member I was able to visit every anytime fitness gym around the country which really helped when I wasn’t in Winchester. Would recommend this gym to anyone.

Negative experience: Unless you go there very early in the morning or very late at night, your workout will take 2 to 3 times longer than usual as this place is tiny. I always have to wait for equipment, sometimes it ruins my workout routine. Don't sign so many ppl up if you can't handle the volume...

Positive experience: Comprehensive equipment with everything you pretty much need for a fitness centre- there are a few things that would be nice to have and the space could be better/bigger as it does get VERY overcrowded at the times you would expect however they do utilise the minimal space they have and is overall a good gym in the WInchester area. This is my last month with them for these reasons though! But would definitely recommend as it is the only 24/7 gym in the area!
