Negative experience: In regards to the gym, the weights room is tiny and always full of groups of kids making it hard to get on anything. No sign of any gym staff anywhere re-racking plates or cleaning. Plates always left all over the place. Never any roll available to wipe machines down with. Multiple cardio machines out of order or damaged and have been for a while. Tried to make a complaint and was told it would be passed onto the manager. Says it all.

Negative experience: worst Gym/ Leisure centre I've been to in over 40yrs. poor management when pointing out some issues..meat heads hogging the machines when not even using them..leaving weights all over the floor and making it a health and safety hazard. pointed the issue out to the leisure centre manageress. 8 days later the situation is worse .membership cancelled along with my friend who was a member for over 20yrs. to rub salt in the wounds i have had to give 4wks notice to leave which means paying for a gym i won't be using in that month and haven't done for the previous 3wks. clueless management. didn't even know the staff weren't checking on the gym. to busy talking on reception instead of working..things will never improve in that gym.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment, Unfortunately this is an issue that most centre's experience and we have added additional signs asking customers to replace weights and staff do assist where possible for this to be resolved. During busy times it can be difficult to police fully. I can assure you that management would have been informed of feedback and we regularly look into ways that this issue can be addressed to prevent this from reoccurring. In the recent weeks I'm sure you will be aware that we changed over from Lex Leisure to Myactive and we are working closely with them to make improvements throughout the centre. Fantastic experience: Started playing here after Brough Park closed. I have to say, the courts are well looked after and the changing room is very clean. The transition from Leisure to MyActive was very smooth

Positive experience: it's not as big as other gyms or swimming pools go but it's adequate enough for me, also im able to walk here in 15 mins, The place is clean enough and the staff are friendly. Could do with some investment. But it's fine

Positive experience: Overall swimming lessons are very good and children learn well. Just wish there was consistency in swimming instructors. My two young grandchildren have had 3/4 different instructors. The little ones sit and wait and wonder who will teach them. I feel that they will learn better if taught by one teacher. They often are late to start the lessons. Sorry to complain...

Negative experience: Oh dear … I will say the staff were really good but I felt it was dirty …. The toilets,the pool. The car park needs attention. Basically it needs a make over. But i stress again the staff were lovely. Such a shame

Positive experience: Good facilities, with plans to extend. Only downside is my daughters swimming lessons were problematic to set up but it seems to be resolved now. I love the classes. Easy to book via the app

Negative experience: Yet again the showers are cold! Think it disgusting that children can’t have a warm shower after swimming lessons in the middle of winter. We tolerate the poor state of the changing rooms but cold showers are just not acceptable

Positive experience: They need to fix the broken equipment much faster - abductor machines been broke for over a month - considering it’s not a cheap gym it’s not really ok. Young kids there till past 7pm too which I don’t really like. But nice atmosphere , friendly , staff are nice,

Positive experience: I go for lane swimming regularly and normally have no issues, but today's session was NOT lane swimming! It was chaos. I can't really blame the attendants, as it's difficult to tell people how to behave!) but maybe some more clear signage or rules may help? There were small groups of people at both ends of the slow lane, just standing around chatting (very much in the way, rather than standing back to allow swimmers to pass, as most usually do)one lady just swimming up and down the centre of the lane & at one point, even a young man trying to teach his daughter to swim in the shallow end! It was impossible to swim uninterrupted. This all really spoilt today's swim for those of us who go for excercise and relaxation. Maybe a few people need to be reminded to consider others?

Positive experience: I use the swimming pool twice a week. Lane swims work well most of the time (I go in the slow lane)but somtimes people use this lane when they are obviously too good for the lane. This is not really good enough. The purpose of the lane swims is surely to choose the appropriate lane for your level. People who use the slow lane are often vulnerable, not confident swimmers, people who have had operations or have disabilities. They should not have to put up with confident splashers. Also the pool is sometimes quite cold. I have noticed during the last few months that the ladies changing rooms are not cleaned properly most of the time and I am continually having to report that toilet rolls have run out. The staff don't seem to check very often. On the plus side the pool is a lovely size, the showers are usually hot and the staff are all very pleasant.

Positive experience: Do not sell on eBay they keep your money for an age for no reason what so ever . Really bad experience with eBay avoid the site they are a sneaky and the commission they take is day light robbery they may as well wear balaclava's, dirty company . AVOID !!!

Negative experience: leisure centre overall is a 3/5, but i’m mainly writing a review out of disappointment of the gym. In all fairness it is frankly ridiculous how bad it is (i am going to take into account that it is a commercial leisure centre gym, however i don’t think that is a good enough excuse). Firstly the music has been the same for as long as i can remember and is honestly pretty depressing especially for a gym. It’s a mix of pop songs but mostly just sad love songs which seems completely out of place for a gym. The equipment itself is pretty limited but there is enough to get done everything you need to, do not much to complain about, however recently most of the gym is unusable or out of order: one of the cable stacks is unusable and ‘out of order’ and has been for many months despite being a very simple and quick fix; and more recently (within the last few weeks) the rowing machine is now broken which is the only back machine, and also the hamstring machine which is the only equipment available to train hamstrings. This is laughable tbh lmao. There is also 2 treadmills that are out of order, and a cross runner. The gym staff are also seemlingly clueless and actually have no power or say in the gym and it’s facilities, so any complaints to the staff is useless. I don’t mean to be too harsh but in all honesty, for the high price of a membership, this leisure centre offers very very little which actually warrants the cost.

I have forwarded a copy of this to our centre manager and regional manager to investigate the issues raised and we will look at resolving all this issues you have raised as soon as possible. I do know that we do have the gym equipment serviced on a regular basis and that the company who service our equipment have been awaiting delivery of some parts to arrive to be able to get the equipment back up and running. Unfortunately this is not always a quick fix and putting the equipment out of service is a last resort. Fantastic experience: Been coming here since 1978 when it was just a swimming pool. Have been a member for quite some time now and there's a good reason for that. The gym is well equipped, membership is not expensive, facilities are absolutely fine, there are 3 squash courts, a fitness room, spinning classes, aerobics badminton and many other fitness and leisure activities up for grabs. The icing on the cake for me is it's a 3 minute walk away. Can't fault the place.

Negative experience: Liz you pretend to care & respond to complaints. The system is rigged & fake. I’ve been robbed at least x4 swimming lessons for my child that has never been rescheduled or refunded. I’ve complained to the manager your HQ & emailed. Waste of time & you’re just stealing members money at this point. If it’s that easy to resolve you have my record & I have all the emails where you have cancelled swimming lessons. Just refund me what I’m owed !

Positive experience: I used to visit a lot. Just wanted to find a swim session. Very confused by all the "booking lanes" you have to do online. No times when you can just walk in with your swimming gear. I haven't been...too confused!

Negative experience: Classes and staff very good problem is parts of the centre are very poor and req a full overall mens changing rooms and showers are disgusting only two showers sometimes work in one small sharing cubicle and you can have up to 6 or 7 men waiting to use them asked on many occasions over the last 5yrs or more still nothing sorted squash courts never swept half the lights in the courts don't work all been reported on many occasions so general maintenance and cleanliness very very poor.....

Negative experience: I’ve not been in a long time and it’s gone right down hill the boards on the wall in the gym are all broken , the nets are filthy and ripped , the ladies toilets are disgusting and where the hand dryer is the wall underneath is black with dirt - it needs a good cleaning

Negative experience: I would not give this place 1 star but it is the lowest that you can offer. Absolutely shocking facility which appears to have no management or staff. They just close facilities without warning. They are quick to post on social media what they are doing, but offer no information until you turn up about what is cancelled. They have cancelled numerous general and lane swims now with no warning, but then they are happy to have their swimming club in the pool or the swimming lesson. This just smacks that they want the members money but they are not bothered about them. All they care about is swimming lessons and the gym. Everyone else is an inconvenience to them and with the price of membership being more than what you can get elsewhere it probably is time now to leave. Can't wait for Congleton to reopen as that is just down the road and where I will be going. Plenty more have gone to Dimensions or Kidsgrove as the regulars I used to see have just slowly been disappearing and given how the place is being run then I don't blame them! They have staff who can sell memberships and write replies to people on social media, but not to keep the centre open. Think they need to look at what staff they need and what they don't.

When a session is cancelled we do try our best to contact all attendees who are booked into the session, Hence why our sessions in the pool are still on a bookable basis. If we have not contacted you apologies it may be we do not have correct details to contact you. I would be happy to take a look at this for you Peter as I cannot see any details for you on our system. Cancelling sessions is a very last resort for us, nobody like a cancelled sessions. We would have tried our best to keep the scheduled sessions in place. In your comment you have mentioned we are happy to keep lessons /swimming club in the pool. For this I am assuming you are referring to the pool closure when the boilers had broken and temperature had dropped. The club were offered to remain swimming as they are used to the cooler temperature, this didn't last as lessons and club were they re scheduled for when we could re open. We have had some feedback from others who have said they would have been happy to continue to swim during this time and we have taken this on board for if in the future this happens again. I can assure you we value all of our customers that continue to use the facilities, I'm sorry to hear you feel this way. Unfortunately like many in the leisure industry we are low on staff and will continue to recruit new members of the team to ensure the centre runs smoothly. Positive experience: This appears to be a large building with large free car park. I their entrance sign said cafe so I broke up my long journey by calling in to have some food and refreshment. Was disappointed to find that the cafe does not exist. By reception there is coffee making area, crisps, cookies and flapjacks. The lady on the reception was amazingly kind and helpful and I'm sorry I didn't get her name. As first port of call at reception she is an asset to the business. I used the toilet which was down a flight of stairs but was modern, clean and divided by a partition only for male and female. I don't know the level of facilities available here. I only saw two other people. I'm only giving 3 stars because I stopped off from my travel due to the signage of 'cafe and expected to be able to have some kind of prepared food and drink, not snacks.

Positive experience: I started a diet club at work, 10 weeks and we had to loose 0.5 kg a week, thanks to this place I've done 8 weeks up to yet and not had to put the 10 quid in at work if I hadn't done it, they have badminton, squash, swimming and the gym. Me and the misses love a chilled game of badminton after work sometimes, and we take our stress out on the squash court when needs be, well worth the join

Fantastic experience: I am a regular swimmer at Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre. It's a good value swim only membership at £23 a month, so attending once a week in peak times and you have made that money up in what you would pay as you go. The app is easy to work and book your sessions ahead, which is essential in the current covid restrictions. The layout of the centre is very good and the organisation is also good. You book your time slot and then check in, there is a one way system to follow and social distancing set up in the changing rooms (not that I imagine people get too close when changing anyway!). The pool is set up well with max numbers in each lane and everyone is pretty respectful of the guidance and are all there for lane swimming.

Fantastic experience: Learning to swim couldn't swim when I started but very confident now the instructers are good and very helpful they explain everything to you i recommend it to anybody and its good fun

Negative experience: Too many children in the swimming lesson, no where for me to sit, I know we have to keep a safe distance, but people were sitting to close together which is why I had to stand I have a bad back and knees, there should be fewer children in the lessons as I was told there would only be five and there was seven in a small area of the pool.

Thank you for your feedback. With regards to the number of children in the classes, we have followed the guidelines given by Swim England for spacing out each section of the pool, so the numbers have been done to reflect that. We will discuss with the teachers though to ensure they are using all of the space appropriately. We appreciate you letting us know about the seating and social distancing, we will be monitoring this going forward.

Positive experience: Nice swimming pool for lane swim. Disabled so need steps to get into pool. Water and changing rooms not quite as warm...showers hot though. Staff helpful

Negative experience: Went today and after taking our details we were then told to they are refusing cash which is all we had so after waiting for so long to go swimming we went to leek but they are closed till October so many places refusing cash now and there's no reason to do so as it's legal tender.

Negative experience: Would not recommend for children’s swimming lessons. Found the instructors to be very lacking in the skills to teach young children, eg positivity and enthusiasm.

Positive experience: Great facilities but too many stairs. I'm not disabled, but I do struggle with my mobility. I've not seen an alternative route, but the fact you have to go up a not insignificant number of stairs, and then down the other side, to get to the pool area is quite bad. And then you obviously need to reverse that route get out.

Positive experience: Friendly and helpfull staff. Only one minor critisism concerning the swimming pool changing facilities. They are not very clean. It's not the staffs fault that empty bottles and sweet wrappers are left lying around, but l would expect the area to be checked regularly. Also soap dispensers and toilet rolls are regularly left empty.

Positive experience: We use this leisure centre for the children’s swimming lessons. The centre is not the newest but it’s always clean and all the staff including the desk staff to lifeguards are super friendly and down to earth. I like it. There’s plenty of seating for parents to watch the lessons around the pool which is all we need. The place is always busy and seems to be well used.

Positive experience: This leisure centre is amazing it's easy to get to the swimming pool is nice they keep it clean and I am yet to explore the other things you can do there. Although sometimes the pool is closed when they have problems like there is to much chlorine in the pool for instance and you can't go in it. They don't put it on the web site they wait until you get there and they put a chalk board out.
