Rye Sports Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Very clean facility for taking kids swimming. Surprised that we were the only family there on a Saturday morning. Very helpful staff who provided change for locker and saved my sons fitbit that was left by mistake.
Thank you for your feedback Peter, glad you and your family were able to take advantage of a quieter session and enjoyed your swim.
Positive experience: A decent but small pool. Slightly let down by short hours on the weekend, and it is starting to look a little tatty in places.
Thank you for your review Adam, we appreciate the feedback.
Positive experience: Nice swim,
Thank you for taking the time to review us Nic, glad you enjoyed your swim.
Fantastic experience: Went for a swim .... clean and relaxing
Thank you for taking the time to review us Bruce.
Fantastic experience: The swimming pool is very nice for lengths and it's clean , which is great . Staff all very professional too
Thank you fir taking the time to review us Janet. We are pleased you are enjoying swimming at Rye.
Fantastic experience: The place is very very clean . The people who are working there are very friendly. ( thank you for hard work)
Thank you for taking the time to review us M.M, we appreciate the feedback.
Negative experience: Clearly says on website family membership but apparently there is no such thing. Called up to ask price as there are no prices only to be told they couldn’t give me any details. How are they open?
Positive experience: Good to see the pool open not sure if it's as good as could be. Mens changing room is in bad state of repair and this shows there is no investment in the place. Does it have a future? Not with the current company I feel.
Thank you for taking the time to review the centre Neil, you feedback is appreciated.
Fantastic experience: Excellent Sports Centre in Rye town with a swimming pool and public parking. It has a gym where you can do your own thing but also caters for many of the usual style exercise classes including Spinning/ Indoor Cycling classes. You can join as a member or just pay to use the gym or join a class as a non-member. Friendly and helpful staff.
Thanks for the informative review Dave, we appreciate it.
Positive experience: Great gym facilities but unfortunately it seems a bit mismanaged as the pool is out of use since the new ownership. A big loss for the town
Thank you for your review Wandering Man, glad you think the gym facilities are great. The pool closure was unfortunately a necessary business decision, however there are continuing avenues of discussion to get it re-opened.
Negative experience: Regular visitor to the gym. This morning once again no hot water. Changing rooms are a joke anyway but it seems they've decided to cut off hot water every few days to economise. Staff seem to have little or no interest in being there and the clubs management seem intent on running it into the ground.
Hi David, we apologise the the lack of hot water at present. This is due to a faliure of the cold water booster system. We are currently waiting on a quote for a new pump so we can rectify the situation as quickly as possible.
Negative experience: Opening times may vary depending on their financial issues- avoid
Thank you for taking the time to provide a review Greta. Unfortunately we have had to reduce our opening times now that the swimming pool is temporarily closed. We sincerely hope the situation will improve and we can fully reopen Rye in the future.
Negative experience: Closed the pool and now the gym opening hours are reduced so that it’s impossible for anyone who works full time to go.
Thank you for taking the time to provide a review Chrissie. Unfortunately we have had to reduce our opening times now that the swimming pool is temporarily closed. We sincerely hope the situation will improve and we can fully reopen Rye in the future.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, lots of individual changing cubicles and lockers need a £1 coin refundable, shower cubicles had hot water, slope to walk in pool (no steps to manage in and out water), pool water was warm, lifeguard on high seat watching and checking what was going on all the time, friendly atmosphere. Not as much room to swim with lanes roped off of course and if not fast enough for lanes. Nice pool though.
Fantastic experience: Great pool. Nearly always has separate lanes for swimming away from the children and the staff are very friendly and welcoming
Positive experience: Staff were overall very friendly.
Fantastic experience: We are staying at Cumbersand park, due to the lack availability of its pool. We decided to drive to the closest Leisure centre with pool and Rye Sports Centre did not disappoint. We were served by 2 lovely laidies and assisted us with free parking and provided information regarding the services they provide. Shame that none of them were wearing a name badge, I could have mentioned their name here. the swimming pool is well maintained and the water is surprisingly warm. life guard is always on the look out which is big plus! The price to use the facility is very cheap!
Fantastic experience: Clean and friendly complex
Fantastic experience: Great pool for a good swim!
Positive experience: Staff are friendly and helpful. The gym well equipped. The pool is lovely. However the building needs a bit of TLC especially the male dry changing room which is in an appalling condition.
Positive experience: Great aqua aerobics class. Lovely teacher. Nice showers. Bit dark at changing rooms. Good value
Negative experience: Needs local council support to reinvigorate the current establishment. It is a much-needed hub, for all age ranges for all exercise purposes. Few places in Rye for fun, and this is one of them. Hopefully, it will be renovated and back in use soon.
Thank you for your review Mr Luke, we appreciate your feedback.
Positive experience: Had a memberdhip yo swim here for a long, long time. Parking ticket provided for centre isers by the centre. Clean andcregularly checked facilities and by enlarge; friendly staff. I am retired now so xan swim when its quiet which I enjoy. Travel from Hastings to use this centre when there is a pool down the road from me. I guess that says it all.
Fantastic experience: The pool was really lovely just would not recommend when kids are on holiday
Positive experience: Good
Fantastic experience: Excellent place me and my 4 year old daughter had a lovely swim.
Positive experience: Where are the showers?? Recently joined for £40 a month and shocked there aren't any
Positive experience: Great place well organised in the current climate
Positive experience: Pool was very cold...spoilt the experience. Staff are friendly. Toilets are stinky in changing rooms. Be good if parking was free
Fantastic experience: Splitz Dance Academy What a wonderful and welcoming group of people! My daughter is 2 years old and has fallen in love with the dance classes in a matter of weeks. It’s also lovely to socialise with the other parents in the cafe while the children are busy in their classes. A wonderful atmosphere and a real sense of community ❤️ highly recommend!
Positive experience: what it offers is fine but the male dry changing room is s disgrace. Signs of decay.
Negative experience: Changing rooms are filthy and disgusting, potentially a public health violation.I’ve complained to management and will be cancelling my membership. Far better and less expensive gyms available locally.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities for swimming, football and gym.
Positive experience: Really nice, kind staff
Positive experience: Great but have a lot of staffing issues causing them to close the pool without notice or limit the number of pool users. More than once have turned up to swim only to be told I couldn't. I now always ring before I go.
Fantastic experience: My daughter goes to school here.
Fantastic experience: There is not only a pool here but a gym and other rooms used for a dance school and other meetings.
Fantastic experience: Easy parking and good wheelchair parking and access
Positive experience: Overpriced but a good day out
Positive experience: Great for kids swimming lessons but a bit small fotlr a day out no slides etc
Fantastic experience: Very nice people here .Lindsay and Amy especially. Very happy attending their lessons.
Fantastic experience: Great...I should go more!
Positive experience: Nice small place with a medium sized pool, the gyms good as well and the coffee is amazing
Negative experience: Moved out of the area, tried to cancel membership over the phone and was told that I cannot cancel over the phone and had to come into the centre, which I did. Then I noticed the following month that another direct debit had been taken from my account, upon ringing the centre they informed me that it takes 4 weeks to cancel a membership and this is why I was billed again. I was not made aware of this when cancelling and have ended up paying 2 months worth of fees (around £80) for nothing. Not a great experience after a 3 year membership!
Fantastic experience: It was the scout hut not pleasure centre we went to see an art expo about a trumatised soldier to see his paintings it was amazing
Positive experience: Everything needs good clean
Fantastic experience: Great pool. It's a nice length and has full ramp access which was great post my surgery. Hidden gem in Rye for a lovely swim and post swim sauna. Friendly team too.
Positive experience: Great swimming lessons
Fantastic experience: Easy access pool clean warm + safe followed by sauna..great
Fantastic experience: Kids loved the Thursday inflatables afternoon, only downfall is that there isn't a propper shall end for the little ones about from the small slop going in to the pool. But was still great.
Fantastic experience: Polite and helpful staff, very clean and tidy
Positive experience: Excellent public pool. Water a bit too shallow to tumble in at one end and slightly too warm for my liking!
Fantastic experience: There never seems to be anyone in the pool.. excellent!
Fantastic experience: Good gym lovely pool very nice staff
Fantastic experience: Fantastic, lovely staff and fantastic coffee.
Fantastic experience: Went for a swim. Pool was not cold and comfortable. Decent enough for a swim, just a basic pool. Shallow... only 1.8m at deep end and 1m at shallow end, so maybe good for young ones. No private showers though. Sauna was ok but small and not that hot.
Positive experience: Good well thought out gym. Clean and we'll looked after.
Negative experience: Swimming pool with over priced car park
Fantastic experience: Lovely warm pool and fun time for kids at certain times with air filled activity piece.
Fantastic experience: Great pool to swim in Saturday's afternoon there are blow ups in the pool. Newly fitted gym and sauna.Friendly staff.
Positive experience: Acceptable facilities - membership and food/drink are grossly over-priced for what you get. Car parking refunds are a con
Fantastic experience: Great little pool for the kids
Negative experience: Came to Rye for a week and was hoping for a gym, pool and sauna. Was charged £20 for the week which seemed only slighty unreasonable until i saw the low quality of the gym. Insufficient for anybody actually wanting to benefit from it, the gym contains less than 300KG freeweight combined, which isn't enough for more than one person to train. The price could have been forgiven if the pool wasn't closed not once, but twice, after staff assured it was open on the second day, showing either a lack of knowledge or they jist didn't care. To top ot off, they closed the sauna when the pool was closed, even though unused, and an hour early on the days it was open, presumably to finish early. Just Complacent staff allround.
Positive experience: Good sized pool and plenty of exercise options available.
Positive experience: Small, but reasonable standard. Small cafe area looking into the pool.
