- A few users noted equipment maintenance problems and restrictions on pool availability due to private bookings.
- Parking can be challenging during peak hours, with limited spaces available.

Worsley Leisure Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: been lifting weights here for a year, never been injured or needed assistance with anything or had any issues until this week the staff have brought around a new rule where under 16s cannot enter the gym after 6:30pm, meaning when i get out of school my window for the gym is 4-6:30pm, peak hours where everybody is getting out of school and work. I keep to myself and trained here every day at 8:30pm, but cannot any longer. I’ve been stripped of the access my membership promised me and I have not even received a refund for this months payment.
Negative experience: Extremely rubbish gym the new refurbishment did nothing you are only allowed one 1 after 3 o’clock even if you pay for a full time membership
Fantastic experience: Staff members are very cooperative, helpful, and kind. The centre is well maintained and provides opportunity to engage in a plethora of activities!
Fantastic experience: I started using the gym about a month ago and I love it ,not used the other facilities yet ect yoga fit dances but been swimming and used sauna, highly recommended
Negative experience: Absolutely awful with faulty equipment which injures customers
Negative experience: This is the worst gym I have ever used. Having been a gym-goer for over 10 years across the UK, I highly recommend avoiding this place. There is no cleanliness regime; staff stand around for hours doing nothing in particular. When I pointed out that young children were lifting heavy weights, which is a hazard, they looked at me as if I had offended them. Sometimes, I’ve been in one week and found rubbish and dirt still in the same position the following week. The toilets are not kept clean, and the air conditioning is rarely on, if it isn’t broken. This is a poor excuse for a gym.
Negative experience: The buidling looks fairly new, parking is free but there is not enough spaces for the amount of cars so trying to get parked is a struggle. The changing rooms are small with only 1 male toilet for the whole building. The gym is OK, but seems like a bit of an after-thought, too small for the amount of users, mostly full of children using free weights, cables and machines often with terrible form that looks like it will lead to them being injured, and didn't see a single staff memeber on the gym floor to supervise/prevent this. When compared with Irlam or Eccles, I wouldn't recommend using Worsely unless there was no other choice.
Negative experience: Lady on the desk absolutely rude, loads of other staff just standing around. Either they are all useless or she doesn't let anybody do anything. Changing rooms smell of pee. Hairballs and plasters. Signed my son up for 10 lessons, that I HAD to pay for immediately to secure the place. Not fit for purpose. I did not attend 10 lessons, just glad I didn't give them any more money. Half an hour with a proper instructor and he could swim. All the kids I saw in lessons could already swim. Stop wasting your money. Get rid of swimming lessons and open the pool for all.
Positive experience: Could have more machines in the gym. Great classes.
Fantastic experience: I went over on a Saturday afternoon to take part in the Naturists Swimming Session and to also use the Sauna and Steam Room. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful and very polite as well. It was something totally new and different experience for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it so much that I will be attending it as much as possible. I would also like to say thank you for allowing this to take place each month, and thank you to all the staff as well. Everyone has been wonderful and very polite and friendly towards me. I look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Fantastic experience: Excellent
Fantastic experience: Great leisure centre, with nice amenities
Fantastic experience: Perfect, you can get what you need
Positive experience: Pool tiles could do with a clean but the rest of the facility it’s great.
Positive experience: I go swimming here every week, facilties clean and kind staff
Negative experience: The baby pool is never open for public swim and the information online is very vague and does not tell you when it is open. Please update the website or allow more time for general swim.
Fantastic experience: Local gym with good prices and the highlight is the sauna and steam room
Positive experience: Well appointed gym with plenty of equipment - treadmills, exercise bikes, etc. Changing rooms (for gym) are communal but showers are private. The lockers for the gym are free but you have to bring your own padlock to lock it. Special thanks to staff on front desk who couldn't be more helpful when there was a problem with my pass.
Negative experience: One of the cables were broken for 3 months, lat pulldown's lap bar been broken for more than that, need people to push down on it to actually feel something. Little equipment, small, Just pay more for a better gym
Fantastic experience: I love going to this
Fantastic experience: Very nice staff
Positive experience: It's pretty well organised. Good coffee shop.
Fantastic experience: Great leisure centre
Positive experience: Water in shower rooms is never warm enough, they don't seem to be able to fix their water heating system or maybe its deliberate to save on gas bills!
Fantastic experience: Because of the policies of the lane swimming, I was able to complete my own personal goal of achieving 66 lengths, just over 1 mile. So I thank them for the lane swimming policies they have in place. It is a bonus that after my swim I can sit in the sauna for 1/2 an hour as well. Well done ✔️
Thanks for your kind, useful comments Robert.
Fantastic experience: Great atmosphere , good all round looking to loose a bit of weight Or getting on top of your health may need Abit more substantable equipment
Fantastic experience: The gym is well equipped and there are always fitness sessions in progress. There are three pools but the smaller pools are for very young children and lessons, which means the big pool has to serve everyone else. There are lots of lane swimming sessions, but the one I went to was very busy. The pool gets divided into Slow, Medium and Fast with the Slow being the widest. Because so many people attend, you swim in a circle, which I found really frustrating. The water was quite warm, too warm in my view and there were bits of flotsem floating around. I guess that now our country has closed so many pools, most operate under real pressure. It's a valuable resource and as the days get lighter, I will go very early in the morning. Incidentally, and I find this very amusing; I am 73 years old and I cycle the 3 miles to the centre but the car park is usually choc full and most of the attendees are a lot younger than me.
Fantastic experience: Good place training and swimming staff good respectful looking after you
Fantastic experience: Great local gym
Fantastic experience: Nice people, good equipment in the gym, great workout classes, good swimming pool, clean changing rooms(much improved ) And nice steam & sauna rooms
Positive experience: The pool is never open when you want to use it (or its taken up by swimming lessons). The gym is decently equipped but very small, you can struggle to get on some machines especially when its busy or they are broken (usually 1 or two treadmills are always broken when I've visited).
Positive experience: Probably the best out of all the Salford Leisure centres, big pool and decent size gym with good facilities to work out. The only disadvantage was the smell in the swimming changing room and the steam room could do with an improvement.
Fantastic experience: Good old baths. Not been here for about 8 years brought back some memories. Frosty morning great to swim while it's quiet. Clean baths good showers
Fantastic experience: Great community and family hub. Cherished by people of Walkden and around.
Positive experience: The classes I have attended are really good, one star off because the fans and ventilation never work.
Fantastic experience: Inda is a lady who woks on the reception she is brilliant she was the resin I joined she is kind and caring not to to me but with every customer
Positive experience: Firstly the class timetable is fantastic and the staff are nice . The pool changing rooms aren't kept very clean and if you are joining to swim, 'Lane swimming' can be frustrating. Often the lanes aren't in properly, and they often let kids in during holidays , who ultimately end up messing around. Also some people just bobbing around chatting in the middle of the lanes or messing about generally. The pool staff turn a blind eye . The class studios do not have air con and can get oppresively hot. The floor ends up full of sweat and it's a bit dangerous and disgusting . Hard to believe they missed such an important factor in the design of this building, this is supposed to be the flagship centre
Fantastic experience: Good pool, opening hours are strange though
Positive experience: Chaning room not quite clean sometimes can see poop on the ground.... and really bad smell around the waiting area of learning pool. Hope to improve.
Negative experience: Gym is very dirty everywhere. It doesn't regularly get cleaned and can't imagine it ever gets a deep clean. Free weights are a mess, toilets are vile (people shave in there), swimming changing rooms look like they haven't had a revamp since 1990. The pool itself is salty and the floor of the pool is scratchy. I'm shocked at all the 5-star reviews. Don't expect to feel clean when you leave this place. Only reason I keep going is because I'm locked into a contract (which I only got based off good reviews on Google...). The whole place needs to be refurbished or at the very least the staff need to clean more often.
Fantastic experience: Good Leisure Centre. Great Swimming. Can recommend thf sauna and steam room. Great Gym also
Positive experience: Worsley Leisure centre is a very nice place to go and have a little paddle in the pool. The changing rooms are for the most part clean and well Cared for. The front staff are also helpful and friendly. But be aware as the lockers inside cost £1 and you need a coin to use the lockers so make sure to bring a £1 coin with you first.
Fantastic experience: A nice but small/well used leisure centre has a couple of great pools though can be busy
Positive experience: Good staff, free car parking, plenty of gym equipment to use, good size pools.
Negative experience: Lady at the front desk so rude eyes rolling weird attitude . Went in for her to tell me me iv only got half hour to swim and took her 10 minutes to count the change because she forgot 3 times what she has counted out. ( ended up telling her to keep it since I only had half hour) I also told her it was my first time here so she could see I dident know where to go so she wasted more my time. Awful service. Lockers say 20p coin but it’s £1 so I had to get changed again to get a pound coin. Won’t be going again and don’t recommend.
Fantastic experience: Michel, with the great beard and hair, was such a calm and pleasant welcome to the centre. He had his hands full but it didn't fluster him and he remained extremely helpful and kind. All staff lovely and great pool sauna!
Fantastic experience: Excellent classes, very clean gym. Staff are friendly and helpful. Enjoying my sessions here.
Positive experience: Clean and professional structure. Wonderful swimming pool, good courses for children
Positive experience: We've never been before. Got there for family swim time, about half past the hour, paid, got in the pool, then about 25 minutes later told to get out. The receptionists were super unhelpful didn't point this out, we would have liked the learner pool but it was sold out, if it'd been pointed out we'd only be there for 25 minutes I would have waited till the next hour block got the kiddy pool (for my 3 year olds first swim) and they could probably have upsold us a coffee and snack because what else would we have done. I'm unhappy with the experience when it could have been a lot nicer with a little more forthcoming staff. I now know what to do but had to learn it the hard way.
Positive experience: It's nice to see the young ones taking an interest in fitness and not out on the streets causing trouble, but they should receive some instruction on how to use the equipment safely.
Negative experience: Kids in the weight training area also no staff always chatting downstairs instead of doing their job
Fantastic experience: Good equipment in first floor gym. Lots or studio classes parking area v busy at peak times but eventually you will get a space (I stopped working there in January because of traffic on motorway at 6pm) now work ar jD
Positive experience: Helpful staff . Clean swimming pool
Negative experience: Facilities are fine. Always a queue at reception to get scanned in
Positive experience: Fine for family swim but my god, the floors are gross (poolside and changing rooms). Changing rooms are pools in themselves, so as long as you anticipate all your clean clothes being wet and muddy, it's ok. Not enough family changing rooms though, so go way before session time to get one. £8.40 for 2 adults and a 2 yr old
Fantastic experience: Nice pool and steam room
Positive experience: Great place for the gym and swimming. Only downside was that the cafe closes earlier than advertised times. 15 minutes early for “cashing up and cleaning”. So, if you are expecting a coffee after a late work out then you need to get to cafe at 6:45pm or you will miss out. Other than that, great place and great friendly staff.
Positive experience: Update: Still great swimming coaches in the swim academy. No change, still true. And again. Great swimming coaches and the front desk staff are helpful and pleasant (despite their sometimes dour demeanour) within the limits of what is in their control. Can't speak for the other facilities yet...
Positive experience: We come to this leisure centre regularly. The wait at the main entrance is always long at a weekend so make sure to come early if you are attending a swimming or class session. The staff never look like they enjoy working there, especially the pool staff. Swimming changing rooms are often dirty due to moody shoes. I’ve never seen any staff cleaning that area. Overall it serves a purpose but could do with better management.
Fantastic experience: Very nice and clean place. Staff are very friendly.
Positive experience: Went for the aerobics, great, felt great, afterwards.
Negative experience: First time attending today to use the sauna. Changing rooms were very dirty. Went to but my things in the locker and instructions said put a 20p in, but the slot was actually for a £1. I did not have a pound coin so had to get dressed again. Decided just to leave as if the hygiene in the changing rooms is anything to go by, I would not risk using the sauna!
Positive experience: Great pool with very clean changing facilities
Fantastic experience: Quiet time in the gym, good workout, plenty of equipment to use.
Negative experience: Pool is large but sadly the changing facilities are not very clean
Fantastic experience: Went swimming it's the cheapest in the area never too busy great atmosphere very clean.
Positive experience: Changing rooms are freezing and cold showers
Positive experience: Disabled parking a nightmare, lots of people without blue badges using the few bays !! Staff helpful in general, changing rooms clean as a rule, how many people actually pay for sauna/steam see very few wristbands ?
Positive experience: It's nice centre for now I've only checked swimming pool. Swimming pool large one is clean , two small ones for families and baby's are good too , only one thing there on very high tiles under sealing is black mould .changing rooms are joined with ladies/men's but with two compartments. Small cabins for changing are clean enough, large ones for families not specially. Over all it's not bad at all .
Negative experience: My 11 yr old daughter wanted to go swimming a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon, we were told that the pool was booked for a private event so we were unable to swim. I've just been back to the pool with my daughter only to be told the pool is closed from 4pm for another " private event ", I was under the impression that public swimming pools are just that, For the public! Avoid if you can or do like everyone else and book a private event.
Positive experience: Great gym staff very pleasant, clean and tidy.
Fantastic experience: A very friendly sports centre.
Negative experience: The gym is not really bad , but I think is not hard to change the benches when you are paid £36 per month. Looks very disgusting. Also another thing MIRRORS ! Where they are ? I see a lot of people who can’t train properly because the can’t check themselves in the mirror and the are doing very big mistakes which affect their health. Please , pay attention on these very important thing and the company of this gym will get more clients.
Positive experience: Why does it shut at 3pm on weekends? Baffled
Fantastic experience: Worsley leisure Centre is the best gym, sauna, swimming pool.
Fantastic experience: A great centre that offers classes, swimming and gym. Staff are always helpful and they have an app to help with booking in advance and connecting to other fitness information/groups.
Fantastic experience: Nice place. Very cheap The whole family has fun Recommend
Negative experience: Attended today and changing rooms for the pool are absolutely beyond filthy. Looks like theyve not been touched for years. Soon as we removed our socks our feet were black, dirty chewing gum on the floor thats clearly months old. Balls of hair, dirty everywhere. Baby changing facility is absolutely vile to the point i got my daughter changed poolside. Disgusting when people have babies especially! Feel dirty coming out. Will never ever return and im suprised they have anyone going in the first place. Should be ashamed thinking thats acceptable.
Positive experience: Great price for family swim. Can use all the pools in Salford. Plenty of changing facilities and lockers
Fantastic experience: Good I had a good 60 mins
Positive experience: Pool facility is nice Sauna /steam room could use a deep clean Gym for beginners only
Positive experience: Going there to swim and use sauna/steam room. Nice but could be cleaned more often.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff in all aspects of the premises, car park a tad small but not alot they can do about that. I for 1 appreciate them bothering to get up n go to work in not the best paid job rather than go out thieving or sat on thier arse blaming everything else for having nothing, credit to themselves and much respect.
Negative experience: Disgusting service at the front desk, I've never known somebody so rude and dismissive, I had brought a young person in my care with me tonight and although I can withstand your blatant attitude problem and eye rolls and inability to sell me swim shorts because you've "cashed up for the day". For you to dismiss his questions about pool times because your "cashing up" is disgusting, clearly you don't know how to do your job correctly. How about you stop cashing up at half 8 and answer their question, not all illnesses are visible and the will power for them to come to the gym and ask a stranger a simple question is tremendous progress and you dismiss them with "how about you check online". VILE!
Positive experience: almost back to normal after covid
Fantastic experience: Very good
Positive experience: Very friendly staff and my daughter enjoys her swimming lessons there. The changing facilities could be more up to date but they are cleaned regularly.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant Yoga Class. Very helpful teacher. They have lots of different activities.
Fantastic experience: WLC swimming baths is clean, well organized and not too busy at the times I go, early mornings. A nice warm shower after my swim. Opening hours and activities to suit all ages.
Positive experience: A nice clean place, with friendly helpful staff….one star off because the main pool is old style which isn’t the easiest to get in / out.
Fantastic experience: Very clean and very helpful staff. Great gym and half the price of normal gym membership
Negative experience: This is the worst place ever. Changing rooms were filthy there was even pee on the floor! Pool was discusting and would never come again. I feel sick after being in there, my stomach and throat hurts. :(
Fantastic experience: My 2 children go to swimming lessons here and the instructors have been absolutely amazing and patient with them both.
Fantastic experience: Very well equipped gym. 2+ studios. Great friendly staff.
Positive experience: I use the gym 2 or 3 times a week... Usually free weights and cables. Although it's smallish it is functional and I can get everything I want to done.
Positive experience: The swimming pool really needs to be cleaned! There is literally accumulated dirt in it. Also Staff shouldn't be allowed to walk around the pool area with outdoor shoes! It is honestly disgusting. But they have a nice gym and the staff is nice.
Positive experience: Went for family swim. Were not made aware before hand that this now means one quarter of the middle pool. That plus how wet the changing rooms are drops two stars.
Fantastic experience: All the staff are really helpful at this difficult time, and now I'm back in the swim . Thank you
Negative experience: I managed to have a decent shoulders workout & Cardio routine then a swim. Apparently there was lane swimming available but it was only in one lane so can get congested.
Positive experience: Use the gym 4 times a week, nice friendly place for all ages never feel uncomfortable
