Best Western Premier Dover Marina Hotel & Spa

Positive experience: Went here for our works do,lovely location great place but the place was completely over run.To many people not enough bar staff. Meal wasn't great but probably because of the volume of people and to longer wait in-between courses.would I come back and stay hell yeah would I recommend a Christmas do no.

Fantastic experience: I just visited the new bar which was recently opened in this hotel,it was a really nice experience,the interior ambience was soo good and the staff including bar manager 'Cha' was very helpful and we got an amazing service.Highly recommended this place.

Fantastic experience: I had such a fantastic experience here.The food was absolutely gorgeous.we ordered the Glendfidge, and I also tried the Tiramisu. The flavors were incredible, and everything tasted so fresh and delicious. A big shoutout to Chanilka for their outstanding customer service! They were so friendly and attentive, which made the whole dining experience even better. This is the perfect place to come with family and friends. Highly recommend it!!!!!

Positive experience: Right on the sea side! Nice people to give you a good service. I was only there for an afternoon to attend an event. The service was very fast! The food... Hmmm... Average. That is why I put a 4 out of 5. Otherwise the place is very nice. Good atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Upon arrival we were checked in by a very polite gentleman then a member of management change our room to a slightly bigger family room as he could see the amount of bags and we would need a cot as well it was lovely sea view room the restaurant in the hotel is 5star honestly staff were amazing in there so helpful & playful with our 1 year old it was an amazing start to our diseny land pairs holiday we had a very long drive to the port for the ferry the next day this was a perfect break up to the travel highly recommended. All staff at the hotel made us feel very welcome they were very polite.

Positive experience: Stayed here to get the ferry but the room was nice but on a major slope that we had to sleep the other end of the bed. They levelled out the wardrobe but they could really do with levelling the bed out!

Positive experience: Bar staff are really nice. Room was decent for price - clean and bathroom was fully stocked with goodies and spa included. Spa was good but no pool. Still, it was nice and clean. Gym looks good. All in all, good. Only issue is the automatic door goes towards you when you enter up the main entrance stairs - bit of a health amd safety issue in my opinion. Lift also takes forever, so just walk if you can.

Positive experience: The windows leak, but the heating is OK. The bathroom facilities are crammed into a super small space. The beds are comfy, but the pillows are hard.

Fantastic experience: I loved the room and the view, and the staff and location were amazing The sauna/ steam rooms and spa were nice and well maintained. It was small but not too busy or crowded. Booked a massage as well and it was well worth it.

Negative experience: The room was clean and the staff were very pleasant and friendly. We booked the two course meal in the restaurant as we got to the hotel after a long drive and had an early start in the morning but all the food was just being reheated and was not very good at all! If coming to the hotel again I definitely would not go to their restaurant again!

Positive experience: Overall ok, but below expectations: "+" +Good and very clean bathroom. +Location near the beach. +Good restaurants are just few meters away. +Free parking "-" -Rooms on the 4th floor are smaller and not cozy. -The "sea view" was more of a view of dirty cornices with pigeon spikes; you rather don't want to look into the window. -Very long waiting time during checkin

Fantastic experience: Unbelievable bargain - £55 for a beautiful room overlooking the seaside - and free parking offered too. Not sure how you can beat that - bravo.

Negative experience: We booked the afternoon and spa visit at this hotel for my birthday. We had the afternoon tea first which was very nice. Unfortunately the spa very much let them down, we bought robes and slippers at a cost of £5 each but the receptionist failed to tell us that the relaxation room was out of service so there was nowhere in which these could be used. To follow this there was a lot of renovation work going on in the spa, including a man painting a door during opening hours which I thought was completely unsuitable, it doesn’t exactly suit the relaxation vibe spas are supposed to achieve. We had booked some treatments to follow the sauna, jacuzzi etc and unfortunately this was the straw that broke the camels back. My mother and sister were shown into their treatment rooms and then a male masseur arrives to take me to my appointment. I was not advised that the masseuse would be male at the time of booking. As a young lady in my opinion this is completely unacceptable and it was extremely uncomfortable for me. I had originally booked for a full body massage but as soon as I saw the situation unfolding in front of me I felt like I had to change my mind and have a facial instead. I personally do not want another man double my age touching my body. To be clear this was nothing to do with the manor in which the member of staff acted, he was very professional but I was just not comfortable with the situation. I feel like it put a real downer on the day. We spoke to the manager before we went home who understood our concerns and assured us he would offer a voucher to use another one of the hotels however after giving them my contact details I have not heard a word from them.

Negative experience: So the hotel got it Wrong first time ... returned stopping over after a funeral and so happens was jnrs 21 st birthday. they left nice welcome tray chocolates . Manger greeted me observing my signature saying was difficult to.forge ...maybe small talk was not his forte.rooms very clean and organised but they managed to get it wrong second time too unfortunatly.. they had an opportunity to shine and failed . Was really looking forward to spa and sauna . Was extremely disappointed. Had to walk through a pre room thay had a toxic mouldy smell of some kind that was not inviting the least..maybe the bins are parked back there ...the sauna was filthy showers and changing rooms cant see them even having been cleaned that morning.. the sauna was filthy as was floor .getting to cold shower at other end of hall was something that required a hefty life insurance ...wet soaking puddled floors and of course no monitoring of outside shoes inside . I sat in sauna 5 minutes and panicked thinking about the health i was loosing and not gaining . I thought how many diseses i was catching just from walking in my sauna slippers. All i could.imagine was disease viruses and bactieria and funghi crawling on me thought made me sick. I sat 5 min desperate to get out. Thinking maybe was already to late that inevitably i had been exposed to who knows what. And It would show face just in time for xmas removing last lot of immunity i had This is a case of driver asleep at wheel. So easy to get it right. The missed the buisiness class where they explained the superior costs in attaining a new client and reduced costs in maintaining one. That big business is repeat long term business.. not one off

Positive experience: Service was great. Room was really small. The shower extremely small. We also had a water leak which someone came to the room to check and they just left towels down and that was it.

Fantastic experience: The first room we had was disastrous, but when I called the reception, it was quickly fixed. The room that we were was spacious and clean. Those extra pennies to spend for room upgrades are definitely worth it in this case. I would not recommend taking the cheapest option in this hitel only to take the bigger room. Before my arrival , I received an email that I could upgrade my stay by taking 3 courses for dinner options for me and my husband. I was happy to take it, but when I arrived, I was feeling extremely exhausted due to my work commitment over the past few weeks. The dinner I had booked for 8:30pm but when I went to Spa at 5pm I was already feeling really unwell. After my spa treatment before 7 pm, when my body finally relaxed, I thought that I would collapse. I had heart palpitations whenever I walked. I went to the room to have a small nap. When I woke up, I thought that I was better off as I wasn't moving. We went downstairs and sat down when I said to my husband I could not do that. I will faint soon. I approached the waitress and asked if I could cancel this. Without any hesitation, she helped me to get to my room, order the food to be delivered to my room, and she really was doing everything she could to help me. It was the first time in my life when I felt this kind of effect of overwork. Thank you for your help. Regards, the Spa treatment was absolutely amazing. Well done and definitely helped me to relax. I work on important positions many daily. I run my own business. My condition has nothing to do with the spa treatment, and the only thing I can say is that it was amazing.

Positive experience: We had our wedding reception here. We hired the room out for the day, we had a sit down meal and evening buffet. The room we hired is lovely and very spacious, the waiting staff were very kind and attentive, the food was absolutely beautiful... we had many food choices to pick from... we then got to pick 3 of each for our guests to choose... every one of our guests said the food was very nice! There was a couple of mistakes made but they were rectified. The only complaint I have is they were fixing the patio doors whilst we were eating and for a while after so we couldn't go outside to our seating and we were getting hot and bothered. Once I mentioned it the work men were stopped thankfully. When the table were changed round for the evening the staff made a great job at dressing the tables and the also put my mums photo up on a high table at the front with flowers around it which was a lovely touch and meant a lot to me and my family, so thankyou for that thoughtful gesture! The evening food was also great lots of delicious finger foods. There also the odd thing that was a little annoying, like being made to clean up earlier so the wedding for the next day could set up... even though we had till 12pm we had already got people to leave for 11.30pm as it was clear we needed to leave the room. We had a beautiful day and the hotel was a great choice but a few things could have been done slightly different. Either way we are grateful for the efforts they did go to to help make our day go smoothly! Thanks everyone at best western x

Positive experience: They need to improve their lifts, which are far too small. Front desk needs enlarging and some restaurant staff need to adjust their attitude towards lone diners!

Positive experience: This hotel is in a pleasant location looking out over the sea with glimpses of the white cliffs. The rooms are small and our 'Superior Room' looked a lot smaller than the photos showed. There was not much room for the suit-cases. There are plenty of charging points in the room for phones, and the bathroom was modern and tidy.

Positive experience: I used to work here back in 2018 and it's improved a lot since then. Room wasn't as great as I was expecting, very small but it did have a lovely bathroom. We attended a wedding here, it was really nice day, the staff were lovely, food was great.

Negative experience: Stay away from the Spa. Female masseuse was very eager to massage my boyfriend instead of me. I paid for it and asked to go first and she was just adamant to massage my boyfriend instead of me for no apparent reason. Very creepy vibes, unprofessional and upsetting. Consequently, I did not enjoy my massage ( was more like a rub than massage) and my boyfriend was uncomfortable in the room with her (we had booked a couples massage which we didn't get and were sent to separate rooms upon arrival) and upon asking her colleagues, they wouldn't tell me her name. She was a very short south Asian woman. Very creepy and thirsty. The hotel itself, however, was lovely. Great food, drinks and location.

Negative experience: Overall the experience was significantly diminished by the room we had. The staff were polite and helpful and the food we had was good both for the private function we were attending and the breakfast we had the following morning. Unfortunately the room which was on the top floor was very small, had a significant slope in the floor making moving around feel light you were slightly drunk, the external wall had a significant slope which meant the curtains were pointless without some careful attempts to tuck them into the top of the radiator. See the associated photos. It was also a small double bed which was disappointing compared to the normal larger beds in a Premier Inn. There was also a large cobweb on the corner of the pelmet (see photo). The bathroom was small but well finished but had a ridiculously small shower cubicle we could just get in with a very narrow door opening. Also the main overhead shower head was badly clogged so you needed to use the small hand held head fixed as high as possible to get a shower. Additionally it has a crazy small (2 people with any luggage) single lift. There is extremely poor signage for the stairs to be able to get to the ground floor and we met at least two other couples lost at first floor trying to discover the way the ground floor without using the lift.

Fantastic experience: We decided to have a couple of days away to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary and chose this hotel and I'm glad we did the room was beautiful, it was spacious and luxurious (it was classed as a deluxe room). We had a large balcony that looked out over the Dover marina, It had a rain fall shower in the bathroom and luckily the room was air conditioned because it was a very hot couple of days. During our stay in the hotel we had breakfast which was delicious and also had an afternoon tea in the Marco Pierre White restaurant which is part of the hotel which the hotel added some extras to due to it being our anniversary which was a lovely touch the staff on the restaurant were so lovely and helpful especially Parshad and Zara, although saying that all the staff have been super friendly and helpful. We have had a great couple of days here and would definitely come back again and recommend to everyone. Thank you Best Western for a great couple of days!

Negative experience: ALL LOCALS, AND VISITORS SHOULD AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT. This hotel offers a walk in dining and drinks service. There ends the positive aspects of my experiences over the past few years. The service levels within the bar area are simply sub standard. The staff members I have been served by in the past few years are obviously very unhappy in their roles, this reflects significantly on the service levels provided. As I only live just down the road from the hotel my experience is not based upon being a resident guest but as a passing by patron. The bar staff are rude, unfriendly and seriously abrupt. I have no doubts this will not be the experience of the hotel customers residing there but as a passing trade customer it is obvious that my custom is neither wanted or valued. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Paying a premium for products is never an issue when the service and product lives up to (bare minimum) or exceeds expectations. This is the opposite of the experience I have had as have several of my friends when visiting here. Today it was so appalling I purchased a bottled cider at £6, only to find the customer service level showing its true value, that I handed back the drink after paying as I was that disgusted with the rudeness of the staff member.

Positive experience: Older refurbished property with good if not luxurious rooms. Staff is helpful and courteous. Restaurant food is terrific but there is insufficient waitstaff so service is extremely slow and errors are frequent but management is aware and contrite and trying to address the problems.

Fantastic experience: Dover is a struggling town but it is regenerating. The hotel was extremely welcoming, it’s an old building with history but the fit out is to a very good standard and the staff are EXCELLENT. I arrived at 2am off a ferry with a dirty bike and it needed to be stored, this was not a problem keeping my bike inside the building safe and sound. Breakfast was buffet and I liked it. For travel to Europe especially as a bike rider I recommend this hotel just for the CAN DO, NO PROBLEM attitude.

Fantastic experience: Yeah they were great. Got to my room early and it was ready so they allowed me in, the tv wasn’t working and unbelievably they came in and changed the whole tv that was fixed to the wall and within 30 mins it was all fixed. Receptionist was very good and facilities team really quick. Great night there for business and very understanding for a late check out of 1 hour free of charge. Will definitely stay again

Fantastic experience: Loved this hotel. Right by the beach and close to the cruise port. Shopping and food within walking distance. And a very short taxi ride to Dover Castle and white cliffs. Hotel was beautiful. Our room was large and newly renovated. Staff were very friendly and accommodating

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs. Our room walls were shaking from the loud parties in the hotel. Reception says tough luck, we don't care. If you want to have a sleep, go somewhere else. Unacceptable behavior. And the hotel sucks anyway, ripe for full renovation. Hallways are damp and smell of piss.

Fantastic experience: We were after a long, hard journey and this hotel was just what we needed. great staff. amazing room. we were given a room with a sea view. The room has a refrigerator, hairdryer, iron. tea coffee cookies. It is also possible to drink a bottle of wine, which is already waiting for you in the room (for a fee). Polite staff and excellent greeting. here 5 star is not enough to evaluate the quality of this hotel. Thank you

Fantastic experience: We had dinner in both Marco pierre White's Chop House and Wheeler"s for fish and chips. Both are delicious food experiences with very kind staff and gorgeous sea views. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: An old gem! Lovely workers and very helpful. We are big family ( we booked the family room) we were comfy.

Negative experience: This is the most horrible 4* hotel I have ever stayed in. 1) The air conditioning did not work. It was either freezing cold or extremely hot. If you wanted a temperature change you had to go to reception every time to get them change the room temperature from their end 2) the rooms are very small 3) the windows do not close properly. Therefore it is very windy and you can hear the street noise very strongly 4) the reception NEVER answers the phone. So each time you had to go there 5) the spa never answers the phone either 6) at the reception you have to wait at least 10 minutes every time until you get assistance 7) the elevator is totally old and you have to wait at least 5 minutes for it every time 8) there are no water bottles in the room 9) the breakfast buffet is extremely one-sided. No comments on the buns. They are hard like a stone 10) the floors creak so loudly that you can't sleep at night because you can hear all your room neighbors walking 11) the room magnet card did not work several times 12) and for this disaster I paid more than 200€ per night

Positive experience: This hotel surprised us. The building is very old but kept in great condition and updated. The rooms are small but very comfortable. The restroom was updated as well. We booked a superior ocean view room with a balcony, and I'm so glad we did. Beautiful views, and we actually used the balcony! If privacy on the balcony is important to you, there is none, however, as it's one big balcony with little waist high fences separating the spaces between rooms. It's not a huge deal, but it's worth mentioning. Also, the bar downstairs was popping every night, with a great selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. If we ever visit Dover again, we'd definitely stay here.

Positive experience: The hotel offers a fantastic location, right in front of the beach, which made for a wonderful stay. The service was very nice and attentive. However, there are a few areas where the hotel could improve. The lift is really slow and small, which made it inconvenient to use. I found myself opting for the stairs most of the time. Additionally, there was a gap between the door and the door frame in my room. This allowed light to enter, creating the impression that someone could peep through the gap. As someone who prefers complete darkness to sleep, this was a bit bothersome. Despite these minor issues, the price-to-quality ratio is reasonable.

Positive experience: Our stay at the Best Western Plus Dover Marina Hotel & Spa on 6/24/24 was pleasant. Due to the size of our family, we booked 2 family rooms at a rate of approximately $108 per room. The check-in and check-out process was mainly conducted via email, and we simply had to collect the keys at the front desk. The rooms were clean, well-lit, and had modern bathrooms with rainfall shower heads. The breakfast hall was elegant, although the breakfast options were somewhat limited. The hotel offers parking at the back and a convenient back entrance for unloading luggage. There is only 1 small lift, so we found it more efficient to use the staircase. While the view from the hotel room was not extraordinary, the location right on the Dover beachfront provided easy access to the public beach and stunning views of the white cliffs of Dover. There are numerous restaurants along the strip, all offering spectacular ocean views. Overall, it was a comfortable stay, and I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Fantastic experience: Always a very welcoming experience at reception, and a pleasant stay in comfortable rooms with good, hot showers. The bar is friendly, with views over the beach and port, Rehan and Arun ensure good service with plenty of smiles.

Positive experience: Excellent location. This is an older property I think regency period so the rooms are maybe smaller than some hotels. There is only one lift but that's OK we only used it when we had luggage with us. The bathroom was spotless with a good supply of amenities. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a balcony room overlooking the sea. Dinner in The chop house on our first night was good. Had breakfast in wheelers which was also good. It's a short walk to restaurants and the town. We even managed to walk to the castle and back. Would stay again.

Fantastic experience: It might not be to everyones taste. Its a victorian hotel with many quirks like one slow lift, small rooms because ensuites have been fitted into the existing room area, parking not adjacent the hotel, etc. BUT I think all this doesn't matter as the place has inherent charm. The restaurant benefits from the hand of Marco Pierre White (although the cooks let him down with some tough lamb in one of my dinners - never mind otherwise excellent and breakfast is top class). Staff are outstandingly cheerful and personable. The quaint balconies overlooking the pebbly beach. The comfy beds. Quirky, but it made me smile.

Fantastic experience: Great Hotel opposite the harbour beach. The rooms are large and very clean, the bar is small but has everything you need, and the dining room and food are excellent. Loved the breakfasts. There is outdoor seating available in front of the hotel where you can enjoy a cocktail in front of the beach.

Positive experience: The location is wonderful for the view of the beach and the staff were all lovely. Only complaint is the horribly slow elevator that takes minutes to arrive for a 4 story building.

Fantastic experience: My friend and I recently enjoyed a dayuse stay at the Best Western Premier Dover, and it was a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and efficient, making the check-in process a breeze. We were even given a parking permit for the hotel's car park behind the building. Our room on the third floor was spotless and beautifully presented. The view from the window was absolutely breathtaking – overlooking Dover Beach itself. It felt like we were in paradise! The bathroom was also well-appointed and clean. Considering the price, I would highly recommend this hotel to couples and friends looking for a relaxing and enjoyable day stay.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful hotel which pulls off the tricky combination of the classic south coast hotel with modern facilities. The owners have ambitious plans for a comprehensive range of room types and even squeezing in a carriage drive. You won’t be disappointed if you stay here.

Positive experience: Rooms are very small. We arrived just as the restaurant was closing. We had traveled on train all day without eating. They wouldn't even consider making a simple meal or snack. nothing cooked. Breakfast was very good.. but we were starving. Location was very nice.

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel, the only thing I’d say is PLEASE do something about the lift. It’s a busy hotel all year around, and you need another one! Or some sort of updated logistics on guests using it.

Positive experience: Very good location is the best thing about this hotel; tou will enjoy spa and jacuzzi for free. but unfortunately there is only one lift available for all the hotel residents so you will spend alot of time waiting the lift; in addition the rooms are small (family room) and even there were a building maitainence work outside the room making some noise and breaking your privacy the hotel didn't even gave us any notification befor our stay to babout maitainence working on the building

Positive experience: Was just ok. Tiny tiny room. Bed was good, and room was clean. Towels were old and scratchy, and the toilet paper was really rough. Owners should upgrade ammenities to better quality. Poor water pressure in bathroom, but that is to be expected in a building of this age. Excellent location, an easy walk to Town Center. Chop House on site was really expensive. Had dinner in lounge, great food and service. Breakfast was nothing special, basic buffet fare. Ok for a night or two, but do not expect anything fancy.

Positive experience: There's clearly a wide variety of rooms in this hotel and I guess you get what you pay for. I was booked in via work and they obviously didn't pay premium as I had a very small wonky room at the rear .. no sea view .. signs on windows about burgling pigeons and a freezing cold bathroom I couldn't get radiator to work in. Other than that the room was clean and tidy and adequately stocked .. bed was a tad hard but only one night was bearable. Nice little gym and spa in the basement. Had food at the bar which was very nice and staff were very pleasant.

Fantastic experience: Hotel in close proximity to all that Dover has to offer. There was some work going on right outside the window but nothing that bothered us. Watch the parking there. Tickets can appear in abundance :)

Positive experience: It would have been a great stay. Minus the wedding/rave happening one floor below. Rather frustrating to pay money to not even be informed that a wedding was going to take place and you can say good bye to your good night sleep. Its wasn't just very loud, the entire room was vibrating. It is definitely something that you'd warn the guests at check-in, especially if their room was going to be directly above the disco. Apart from that our room was very spacious and nicely decorated, with quite a few period features retained. Amenities were replenished each day and the Nesspresso machine was a nice touch. We had a lovely view of the sea. Shame about the loud wedding party (or at least a heads up to be prepared) as it shaved 2* off the review

Fantastic experience: CLEAN!!! Great location, walkable to the ferries and marinas, and also the city center is only a six or seven minute walk away. There were two maintenance issues in my room that I only mentioned when I checked out and I’m confident it’ll be addressed. All of the staff in reception and bar/restaurant are well dressed, professionally groomed and mannered. Good value for the price I paid for the room as well as my bar/restaurant service. I will definitely be staying here again next year.

Positive experience: This hotel has a touch of history. The old creaking and sloping floors of the corridors bring their own spice to this otherwise very modern look. The beds were great and the breakfast plentiful. The only small minus comes from the poor quality of work in the bathrooms of the rooms (disadvantages of the former profession), but in terms of materials and overall appearance, they are great. We were here on a business trip and the close location to the harbor suited us perfectly. What a sea view!

Positive experience: Nice hotel and reasonable rates, our room overlooked the port, which was beautiful. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. We ordered room service and this was easy and fast to do. Would definitely stay again as this was a stay for our onward travel plans.

Positive experience: These old buildings look character full but often have many disadvantages over a purpose built modern building. Room was noisy at night. The noise was coming from the port. The room lacked the ability to block this noise out. Service was good and the 2 meals I had in the hotel were good. It also has a better location than most of the other hotels in Dover.

Positive experience: Great location with good views from the room, however the hotel is in massive need of tlc as well as the rooms, they’re extremely worn out. Beds really uncomfortable and very small so could not get a good night sleep. Bathroom surprisingly looked really well, was cleaned and had good toiletries. Rooms are also quite small and the tv is not in front of the bed which makes is uncomfortable to watch it. For the price paid is not necessary a good value as they’re better hotels in the area, but it is certainly an overated place for the beach views. It certainly does not met the 4* hotel standards for the cleanliness of the public areas, reception staff which are ignoring guests to sort “restaurant issues” in the middle of check-in their guests, which is an unprofessional service. Nevermind the lift that is just ridiculous, old, and waiting forever. It is a 3* with indulgence.

Negative experience: I had an 8 night stay split over two weeks at the hotel with my colleagues. My colleagues had such a poor stay in the 1st week they cancelled their following weeks stay and spent the week in the premier inn and warned all of our colleagues about the hotel too. 1st week i was supposed to check in on sunday but work had other plans for me so i phoned sunday morning and told them i would be checking in until Wednesday, i didnt want to cancel and i was happy to pay for the unused nights. I arrive Wednesday and they state as i was a no show they had cancelled my room. After a lot of toing and froing they finally gave me a room the room was tiny and had a view of scaffolding, the scaffolding was upto the window so you couldnt have the curtains open incase someone appeared at your window. On week 1 i also had no wifi in my room, i mentioned this daily to the front desk and they assured me it was working, alas because my room was as far away from the router as possible it couldn't be detected on multiple devices. 2nd week i was put in another small room this time the aircon vent rattled constantly despite being turned off, 2 phone calls were lodged with front desk and despite stating someone would come up and deal with it no one arrived. So packed up and insisted they moved me thankfully they put me in a much larger room. The room was fine apart from the tv guide didnt work which is awkward when the tv remote didnt have numbers on it to change channels. The bathroom was freezing, its sole heat source was a small towel rail. The whole hotel could do with a refresh and run over with a paint brush. Finally the staff. On two occasions i held a door open for a member of staff and they bowled straight through no thank you's. I spend approx 150nights a year in hotels and decided to mix things up by using best westerns but if this is the standard of the chain i think i will go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Lovely and cosy hotel with great location! Friendly staff, clean around. Delicious breakfast and food at all at the restaurant. We had room with sea view and balcony. Jacuzzi and spa area are lovely, but I would add a swimming pool also The hotel is very close to the Station Dover Priory, 15 min walking. One thing I didn't like that rooms don't match photos from the website. Our room was smaller than expected. Bed is comfortable, but not big. However, I saw staff take care of their customers. Thank you for having us!

Fantastic experience: We had a really nice stay, our room was sea facing and spacious. The service was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. The spa treatment was good. The food was excellent. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back in the summer.

Positive experience: We had a great time at the hotel. The spa was especially nice, and the massage very relaxing. We initially had a room that was noisy because there was a problem with the AC. We had to ask multiple times on the phone for them to change our room but they eventually did and were helpful and nice about. We also had the afternoon tea which was really tasty. It was very nice that the spa was accessible the whole two days even tho we only stayed a night.

Fantastic experience: Lovely place, friendly staff and a great breakfast. Only here one night but made use of the spa facilities and enjoyed the view across the English channel. Very convenient for ferry access too.

Fantastic experience: Stayed here before getting an early morning ferry to Calais. Well worth staying here the night before a ferry as it’s a 10 minute drive. Nice sightseeing spot and good places to eat.

Fantastic experience: Great luxurious hotel just on the sea front. Wonderful view of the Dover bay with ships and ferries moving in and out through the day. Can be seen from the window itself. Great food. Had one of the best biriyani in UK.

Positive experience: Had a great stay at this hotel. All staff were great. Room was clean & tidy but not sure how legal the gap under the room door (fire door) is. Only had one towel but once we visited reception, housekeeping was too us in less than 5 minutes. Shame hotel doesn’t have its own parking as you have to park in the wharf behind. Could be a very wet walk when raining. Bar staff very friendly but bar area needed some more seats as after being out both of our nights we fancied a beer. Got served quickly but nowhere to sit so sat at bar first night which was not comfortable . Second night sat outside which was cold.

Positive experience: Great hotel in a lovely sea view location! Awesome staff, especially the bar manager, what a legend! But the massages we had weren't good at all, it was more like a rub. Everything else apart from that was perfect! I would recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Wheelers. Fantastic Cod and chips for me Tender chicken burger for the other half. Delish tartar sauce. Tasty Calamari and refreshing Curious lager and peroni. Friendly staff and a lovely view in the far end of Wheelers.

Positive experience: We had such a lovely stay at this hotel. Facilities are really great. The beds were really comfy and the rooms clean and nicely decorated. We had a balcony room which was lovely with views of the sea. The restaurant was really good with the fish and chips/starbucks place next door equally as good. The spa was fabulous. Lovely massage and relaxation time. By far the most impressive aspect of this hotel though is the across the board, amazing staff, who are so accommodating, professional, friendly and cannot do enough to assist you and make you feel welcomed. Really high standards of staffing so congratulations to each and every member of your team and to your management who must be instilling that from the top. Thank you for a lovely, relaxing and fun stay.

Positive experience: The experience in the bar was awful! Lack of explanation! Basically it's a very very expensive Weatherspoons! No table service. The Calamari was cheap, rubbery and not enjoyable! Fish and chips - Fish was chewy/rubbery - Batter over cooked! Long wait for food. Multiple couples complaining around us!!

Fantastic experience: Had a lovely time here with the missus for our 1 year anniversary. Shout-out to Gary who was a great receptionist and helped give us ideas on what to do. Would definitely come back here.

Positive experience: It's a fantastic hotel in a great location with fantastic staff, unfortunately let down by very poor maintenance. We stayed for the night and after reading reviews I hoped it wouldn't be as described in the negative ones but unfortunately the issues mentioned were there waiting for us. Having said that though if you ignore the fact it's meant to be a four star hotel then it's really very nice. Our room meant well and the views over the harbour were brilliant. The restaurant was fantastic as was our meal, cooked to perfection and served by very attentive staff. The hotel bar was cosy and relaxing and again the bar staff were brilliant. The breakfast was again Fantastic with everything for everyone's needs. It's a very old building but really shouldn't be an excuse for the really quiet poor maintenance issues we had. Would visit again and would recommend but not for more than a couple of nights for me. :Edited for the purpose of the reply to my review. This review was of my one and only visit to Dover best western and I have not as suggested in the reply left positive reviews for it before. I was fair in my my review but obviously the establishment like to make things up to bat away negative reviews rather than actually deal with issues so often reported. So now I shall add the supporting photos which I hadn't originally, like A loose radiator in bathroom. Main door catch broken so door didn't shut properly without slamming. Shower frame pulling off of wall. Stained pillow upon arrival. Bathroom sink constantly backing up and smelling of dirty drains. Toilet pulling off of wall Bottom of bathroom door blown through water damage and being a cheap hollow door.

Fantastic experience: Inside definitely looks better than the outside, the beds are comfortable. The lighting is great especially if you doing makeup . Plenty of mirrors. Only problem is the lift it’s super slow and small. For the size of the hotel they should consider adding at least two more lifts in the building.

Positive experience: Excellent location for the ferry port. The room was big enough and had an excellent TV with a good selection of channels. The bathroom was good but the shower was a little cramped for me as I'm 187cm. The reason for 4* for the room is the terrible drafts from the windows. It's an old building and has single glazed sash windows which have massive air gaps. When the wind is blowing it's like the window is wide open. Service was very good.

Positive experience: The hotel is just infront of the harbor, with a great view. Close to the Ferries to France, europe. We got a great service at the frontdesk. We order 2 single seperated beds online and got at duble. The price was ok.
