Fantastic experience: My time here has been brilliant. The staff have been warm and welcoming. The dance classes I have gone too have really helped me technically, fitness wise and in confidence aswell.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to dance classes at this studio for the past few months and really enjoy it every single time. As someone with very limited prior dance experience, I was nervous to start new classes but Rowan makes everyone feel welcome no matter what level they're at. His contemporary, ballet and jazz classes are fun but challenging and I have seen so much improvement in my skills already. The studio itself is great and all members of staff are friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: This used to be the heart and soul of our local pole community but since the change of management this has changed significantly with the best teachers having to leave and many members ending their membership as fewer great classes were on offer. This is such a shame and I've been sad to have to leave after over 3 years of virtually living at the Centre. Many of my training buddies have moved on to other places. My time has come too!

Negative experience: This gym is the definition of catfish. The website grossly misrepresents the gym and facilities, walking into The Factory feels like a very poorly funded youth centre, the 'sauna' is basically a glorified broom cupboard. They have no morning or daytime classes in the week, the new trainers are very clearly inexperienced and struggle to run a class, and the prices have risen considerably this year. There are actual luxury gyms in the same area that are cheaper than The Factory. The aerial & pole classes are the USP and keep this gym a float but for £149 its not worth it and the numbers have drop considerably. If I could give any advice to management if could be if you are going to charge that of 3Tribes, 1Rebel, Gymbox even bordering on Third Space you have a lot of work to put into your offering and facilities!

Positive experience: The maintenance of the studio is soooo disappointing — for the hoop classes we are missing swivels and straps for months and when we complain, we get the answer of them being ‘too expensive’. The management team need to sort it out as we only have 6 working hoop for a class with advertised capacity of 14, this is not great for people who join the class!!!!

Negative experience: I joined The Factory about 8 years ago as it was amazing value for a gym that also did dance classes and I wanted a mixture of regular fitness and dance. We all knew the previous owner who was always about and available, the gym wasn't trendy but it was clean and we had what we needed. Due to personal changes during covid I cancelled my membership temporarily then came back on class packs. I learnt the gym was under new management and was also aware of the ridiculous new monthly price, even more shocking when I returned to the gym and saw that it was in a worse state than before. Dead plants covered in insect infestations, no loo roll, no hand soap, things not fixed. They've tried to make it trendy by adding a coffee point but that's not important! Health and cleanliness is! Listening to teachers and members who have been complaining for months is! Sadly I'm now looking for somewhere new as it's just not worth the journey to get here anymore. What a shame, I dont see a bright future for this gym which is even more disheartening as someone who is an advocate for indie and women run businesses.

Negative experience: Consistently went to this gym for 6 years when I moved to Holloway but I've now moved away so dropping a review. For me it was purely convenient on location and generally dead at 6/7am when I used to go, just me and a couple of other regulars over the years. Not a fan of heaving spaces. Never used classes, only used the weights & gym area. The equipment was already pretty aged and scuffed when I joined but in the 6 years I was there the wear and tear became very apparent. The benches had a reskin last year and that was the only equipment update the gym space got. Repairs on the ever breaking cable machines were slow. There was also some questionable shuffling of equipment which blocked off mirrors and workout spaces. The price certainly went up though. I was lucky to be stuck on a legacy price that I signed up with for use of the gym and would NOT join for the price that it is now. The whole space needs a massive update. The months leading up to my move, a wet bar showed up and smoothie maker.. Ok cool but what about the gym equipment? Why not update that? Finally cancelling a membership or trying to do anything with your contract is like pulling teeth. Prepare for lengthy response times on emails. When I was finally able to cancel my membership after 6 loyal years (Even paid through covid closure without realising lol) they hit me with the 30 day cancellation on my 30 day rolling contract so I paid for a month without going because I moved away. Meh.

Negative experience: Awful experience. It used to be ok but last I was there it was under new management who have zero experience of managing gyms, or management in general it seemed, only interested in automating and making it a cash cow. Equipment is very old, air conditioning non existent or always broken relying on small windows, pointless in hot weather, when it did work it was only felt in certain areas of the floor. A number of classes are run by people with no experience, more intent on showing off then teaching a class. Seemed to be a gym mainly for dancers, kept alive by people who want to pole dance, everything else made this the worse gym I've ever used. I've had better experiences at hotel gyms. Fortunately I was able to cancel but 100% would not recommend this gym or these people.

Negative experience: I cancelled my membership and they assured me it’s cancelled but they took money out of my account anyway. I have called the bank to report this as fraud and if it’s not returned immediately I will be reporting it to the police. I have evidence. Do not go here, you will not be able to cancel the membership if you want to leave. So so dodgy

Negative experience: APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE I normally like to believe in improvement and don't want to be mean, but the service I received is so unacceptable that I do have to let other people now to try and force The Factory to improve. I was trying to enquire about membership and called around 3 times, every time no reply. I also emailed countless times and no reply. Despite this the location is convenient so I purchased a 5 class dance pass that expired after only one month. I sent some emails about it, no reply again. Called the place, they gave me another email so contact. I kid you not, I sent 4 emails and received only the automatic reply and no actual reply. Called again, and the guy finally said on the phone they do expire within a month. This is all I needed to know, however felt cheated since this was in no way stated while purchasing. The guy on the phone said he'll pass it on and see what they can do (not making any promises) since I had such a bad experience with the communication. Gues what? No email ever came. No communication. So yeah, fortunately I found a other place near me. Won't be going back to the factory. You will lose a lot of customers because of this behaviour.

Negative experience: I started my pole journey here and quickly left due to the over crowding of classes, you’d have up to 20 people in a class with one teacher meaning you don’t really get a chance to learn. Alongside that the classes are too mixed im going to a beginners class and the teacher is showing leg hangs and inverts ?? Fast forward over a year later I signed back up to complete an invert course and oh my I quickly realised why I don’t come here - the teacher was so rude and dismissive and didn’t make me feel welcome AT ALL. You’d think I asked HER to pay ME 100 quid. Finally the studio is definitely in need of a refurb the gym too, is very outdated.

Negative experience: I was a member for years. I liked the classes and teachers so ignored the infrastructure. (The bathroom is old and not very clean, the gym is very basic, the ventilation is problematic and you see fungus here and there.) The classes were usually cramped with too many people of different levels squeezed into one. The reason I decided to leave such a bad review is management. The system blocked my access and charged me at the same time. I was trying to resolve the issue for 3 months but they ignored all my emails and calls. They basically took my money, didn't allow me to use the service and didn't care to respond to my complaints. Lack of basic respect to someone who was a faithful client. Avoid!

Hayley B 1 year ago

Positive experience: I’ve heard the classes are good here but my membership only covered Gym Access so I have no comment on that part of the Gym. The Gym itself is very basic but having read the comments previously before joining I was okay with the old poorly maintained equipment, I knew what to expect and I didn’t go for fancy equipment. I was offered a a monthly PT session but when I had my session (with my lovely trainer may I add) I was then offered an additional PT weekly schedule which you had to pay for on top of my free monthly session. Which then made me feel like, if I was to do another monthly session with this PT would I then be encouraged again to pay for a full schedule? Regardless of this I was never contacted again to do my monthly PT session as I declined the offer of paying for additional weekly sessions… I’m not really sure what I had to do to get my monthly PT sessions again but I imagine I’d know more if I had paid for the weekly sessions. The gym itself I found not very motivating, but the staff were always lovely so I have no complaints regarding customer service, except maybe that it was a little slow to get my access code when I joined, but it was a bank holiday so things are always slow during this time. The reason why I left is because an old lady shouted at me for opening the windows one day, there’s not much ventilation and I get hot so I opened the windows… admittedly it was cold outside but the lady was nowhere near the windows that I opened, anyways, it put me off my session and I haven’t felt comfortable going back ever since… dramatic I know but I don’t expect to go to the gym to get shouted at by old ladies. I’ve now joined the PureGym in Crouch End, a 20 mins walk away instead of 5 mins. It’s cheaper a lot more inspiring and the machines are so much better and I don’t get shouted at by old ladies (well not yet anyway).

Fantastic experience: Cai Marle-Garcia is my trainer, and he is an absolute legend. I am in the best shape since my teens thanks to him and he has really changed my attitude on so many things. Well organised, friendly, caring, and humble, he really embodies the carefree, warm and unintimidating atmosphere of the trainers in this gym.(He also runs a great insanity class!) I’ve even talked my wife into training with Angie now. As someone who had hardly set foot in a gym before coming, I feel like this is somewhere I am welcome and can fit in.

Positive experience: I did pole fitness here for 6 weeks and it was so much fun!! Especially Angies classes, I highly recommend her classes because she is very attentive, fun and knowledgeable. She makes you feel like you’ve gained something from the class in such a positive way. I had my last class with Tatiana and I must say, I didn’t enjoy it at all, although she’s very good at what she does I didn’t feel like I gained much from it and couldn’t wait to leave. Nevertheless the staff at The Factory Fitness and Dance Centre are always lovely and kind at reception!

Fantastic experience: Anais’s commercial hip hop class is so good - she tailors the level to the people in the class and brings such good energy!! Only thing is I wish it was 30 minutes longer to really get the choreo! Also a heels class would be great

Negative experience: My experience here was bad. Anouska is a very poor instructor. She didn’t have time to help every student in the class.

Positive experience: I was a member (fitness and yoga package) for a year Overall I think this gym has decent value for money. Pros: - fitness classes are good quality, instructors are experienced and motivated - spin classes are top notch Cons: - I think there was a change of management during my time there as the classes became ridiculously crowded. End up "fighting" for space and equipment, which occasionally created tensions with some members who refused to share their equipment. Honestly I go to the gym to relax and it's essential for me that I feel welcomed. It wasnt always the case sadly, which is the main reason I didnt renew my subscription - at some point changed of schedule without consulting members and timings became extremely inconvenient - equipment in general is low quality

Negative experience: If I could review this gym with minus stars I would do. This fitness culture and values to their members is nowhere. Very badly managed. As a fitness my impression is that they do not care about their members - all they care about is collecting their monthly payments. A month and a half ago my grandmother died and I had to travel back to my country to be with my family. When I wanted to freeze my membership due to unforeseen circumstances until I am back from the funeral and the grief. Bear in mind I was paying full membership- £95 monthly to use all facilities and classes. The Factory refused to freeze my membership as they needed 1 month notice - if you are member in that gym, make sure to calculate your notice and foresee death. Immediately after they told me this I just sent them an email back that they can consider my membership cancelled. Never heard back. Today, a month later they are sending me email that they can’t take my monthly payments and that my accounts is active. I am not sure what is the thought process behind this membership management. That’s my experience with the Factory.

Negative experience: When a class is fully booked the room gets really overcrowded. Pole classes can have 20+ people and a single teacher which does not feel efficient or safe. Also, when it comes to pole, there is only beginner classes (1 &2, no inverting) and advanced classes (3+, with combos starting from extended butterfly and shoulder mount). There is no intermediate class where students can learn to invert and solidify intermediate moves before trying advanced combos. Once again, this feels extremely unsafe and is very unwelcoming to any intermediate students that are not naturally athletic. There's also only one pole practice session a week, so students don't get much opportunity to strengthen these moves in their own time. The two stars are because it has some very lovely teachers and has aircon, but i will be canceling my membership once i get to the end of it.

Izzy Knight 2 years ago

Positive experience: The teachers are lovely but I do feel the matting for aerial hoop isn't adequate for if you fall which is a shame. Also the ratio of teacher to student is pretty high, can be 1 teacher to 18 students which seems a lot. There also doesn't seem to be an email system if you sign up to the waitlist. So unless you check your account you won't actually know if you have a spot which isn't great.

Negative experience: Agree with other reviews regarding the poor state of some of the equipment such as ripped up benches, the outdated mobile application, the general cleanliness of the gym and the attitude of the owner/management towards customers which is reflected in some hostile responses to any critical reviews on here. You'll notice that a lot of the 5* reviews were submitted several years ago and if you have any valid criticism of the gym (again as seen in on non 5* reviews here) it will be shot down in a petulant and agressive manner not befitting of the community focused image that the gym tries to portray. Ultimately it's a good gym until you have to flag an issue to management and then you'll be met with poor customer service and a lack of empathy. The instructors such as Terence and Angie are lovely though and a credit to the gym.

Negative experience: The Factory seems great on paper, but I regret signing up and wish I’d just gone to somewhere like PureGym for a very similar cost, where I believe there would be more flexibility, better equipment and better customer service. I joined because there was a great deal (~£35 per month for gym access, monthly PT session and unlimited classes) if you signed up for a year in advance, but I soon realised that it was a little too good to be true. It is obvious that money is not reinvested into the gym. The equipment is outdated and there is not a good variety of machines, for example, there is only one leg machine. I understand this is a smaller gym, but one leg machine does seem a bit measly. Moreover, some of the machines are not in good condition, nor is some of the other equipment e.g. big, deep rips in benches. I don’t think there is enough equipment for the amount of users e.g. there’s only one set of dumbbells so at busy periods, you may not be able to get the weight you need. There are other forms of weights, e.g. kettle bells, but that may not be appropriate for the exercise you were planning to do. I understand it’s a small gym so won’t have as much equipment as bigger gyms, but this should be reflected in the number of members they allow to sign up. Also when it’s busy, it can feel cramped in the main gym area and I have often struggled to get a mat to complete my own routine, which suggests there are too many members. Furthermore, the gym does not look or feel clean. For example, black dust/mould covers the windows and there is dirt on the machines. Moreover, there is a cup holder on a treadmill where the same brown dirt has been present for at least 3 weeks. There are some great class instructors but the gym packs in too many people for the classes and space is tight. On some occasions, there hasn’t been enough equipment for those in the class to use. I would be especially annoyed if I had paid separately for these classes. What most shocks me is that The Factory advertises itself a business which takes “a personal approach with every member, the ambition being to deliver a quality service in a relaxed, fun and enjoyable atmosphere” but I think this is incredibly misleading. I got stuck abroad as my Grandad contracted Covid-19 and had to be hospitalised and I had to stay and help care for him. As a result, I missed out on my monthly PT session and when I explained the situation to the gym (with proof) and asked for a session in lieu, they said this wasn’t possible. The lack of compassion, professionalism and care for their members was disappointing and frustrating. I joined as I wanted to support a local business and be part of a gym that was community-focused, with a genuine care for individual members, but this seems to be solely a marketing tool rather than something the gym cares about and delivers on. I wish I could leave but unfortunately they already have my money until October as I paid for a year up front. I can’t help but think they are taking advantage of this situation. I think if I hadn’t had the issue with not being granted the PT session in lieu, I could have put some of the other issues to the back of my mind but I was truly shocked at how my individual situation was handled. I do not feel valued as a member and wanted to warn others about the above issues before joining. The instructors are great, but the equipment is inadequate and the customer service team have little concern for their members’ personal circumstances. It is clear The Factory put profit over people as it does not reinvest money to improve the gym and therefore members’ experience and lacks any compassion for those who have been through traumatic experiences. I would advise others to look elsewhere and not be tempted by what seems like a good deal! UPDATE: The owner emailed me the day after to inform me that my membership had been terminated with immediate effect - no discussion was offered. I provided constructive feedback and was punished for doing so. This is an unprofessional, extreme and petty reaction.

Lmw18 2 years ago

Negative experience: Could be good but the customer service just isn’t there. I signed with the factory after they had a special offer for their most basic membership which includes use of the gym and their fitness classes. For over a year now, I’ve been trying to find out wether or not I could have a customised membership, upgraded to include the yoga and/ or dance classes & stretch classes and, if so, how much this would cost. I’ve asked the staff in person, I phoned and I wrote emails. Every time I’ve been told that they’ll get back to me because they don’t know, or that I should call the other number ? (It seems as though they source the phone lines out to another company which isn’t a problem in itself it’s just annoying that no one knows what’s going on). I never got a response and at this point I’m just really annoyed and demotivated. Yoga or dance classes can’t be bought because it says “pricing is unavailable” on the app but then how else am I’m supposed to join them? On a positive note, the instructors are good but I will definitely look for somewhere else to join as soon as my contract runs out.

Hi there, I am sorry that you’ve not had the best experience. I must say though that I (as the person that you would need to speak to via the Admin contact form on the website) have not had any emails or contact from you about this at all as far as I know… I can very easily cater to exactly what you have detailed above. If you want to have anything arranged, do feel free to email me as above through the admin contact form on the Contact Us page of the website and we can certainly see what can be done for you. The secondary point about buying passes for yoga or pole; if you go to the Class Packs page of the website, choose the pack for the class you want to attend and purchase that, once these passes are in your account you will be able to book those without any issues. - Alex

Fantastic experience: Fantastic place to train with a great community of polers!

Elis P 3 years ago

Positive experience: My first impression was… bad, I came to ask the receptionist for membership and she had no idea of anything. Ok, I manage to join the gym through the website… when I started I felt the lack of machines, but I manage by myself, using the mats on the floor (they got only 4 of them). People in the gym are very nonsense, they choose a mat and they will be there for 1 hour, sometimes the training takes 20 min but they just leave their stuff there and no one can use it, some of them use 2 at the same time, sometimes I had to Sit down and wait or even leave without the chance to use them. Seems like there is no staff working there, when I asked the receptionist If one of the staff could give me some tips for exercises she said no, That people working there are private hired personal trainers and they don’t work for the gym, but I could ask someone who was working out (???). Personal trainers take so much space, you feel stuck or get yourself jumping onto them to walk throughout the gym. I wanted to cancel my membership and surprise, you have to give one month notice to stop the next transactions, so I literally paid 45 days without using it.

Hi Elis! Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review, although we're sorry to hear of the issues you outlined. Let me take the time to address some of these points. Our gym caters for various training methods (to compliment our classes as well as individual fitness regimes), and this means a mixture of resistance and cardio machines and also our versatile frames and racks. Whilst it's fair to say some people may want more of one than the other, we've always prioritised our clients' needs for variation and effectiveness. With regard to people in the gym being 'nonsense', I must defend our lovely members and say that one of the things we're known for and pride ourselves on the most is the friendliness, approachability and understanding of our community, here! Nobody is ever averse to being asked if they're still using a mat or specific area; indeed, this is common practise in gyms. There's no-one who would object to anybody else using or sharing something with a polite enquiry, if you're unsure if it's being used :) With regard to tips from our Front of House staff, it's true that not all of our team are fully qualified Level 2 / 3 gym instructors or personal trainers. I can appreciate that you may have been looking for guidance with something in particular but it's only right that if somebody who isn't qualified (not lacking experience, but specifically qualified) is asked about a specific training method or movement, that they defer to somebody else. We have many PTs and friendly faces in the gym who I'm sure are open to a query or guidance - again, this is common in gyms and not frowned upon or discouraged, and happens regularly here with the vibe being safe and friendly for everyone. We'll be sad to see you go, and if you do want to return in the future, we'll all be happy to help and guide you.

Negative experience: I would've given 5 stars because the tutors are all so lovely and knowledgeable who can accommodate all types of levels of strength and keep you encouraged to keep coming back. However I would say the management is really weird. I would say do not choose to come to this place if you have a spontaneous and flexible plans with travels or studies that need intense attention before exam season or hand ins. You need a place that allows flexibility for you to manage your subscription. I went to the reception to tell them I want to freeze my subscription before it was going to be renewed and they told me I have to email the address that was given to me and I did and I heard nothing for a whole week. Then I called them which is when I was told I have to do it online, why is the stalling? The person that responded my email said they can't freeze or cancel subscriptions unless you give in a 30 days notice before your next subscription. Because they stalled emailing me now I have to pay for May and then for June. The subscription isn't necessarily cheap (although worth the money if you're showing upto at least 8 classes a month) and I can't afford to pay for a whole month that I know I can't attend for. I think 30 day notice is kinda ridiculous as schedules can be spontaneous and you dont always know what's gonna happen in 30 days. BUT if there was someone at the reception who can actually manage subscriptions at least I could've cancelled for June even though I wasn't considering quitting at first. I just don't think having good tutors at a gym is a good enough reason to keep going with a company that doesn't value keeping clients on the long run and instead would rather get your money for the next month or two regardless of whether if you're getting the use out of your membership and building a steady and reliable work our schedule in the long run.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review Eylül. I am very glad to hear you thought our teachers and classes were great. I am sorry that our membership Terms were not flexible enough for you. On joining you agreed to those Terms, and we do require a minimum of 30 days notice to suspend or terminate a membership. In our experience this is not something that causes many people any problems. I am very sorry that this changed your experience from a 5 star to a 2 star review, but we will focus on the fact that you did enjoy the club and our classes.

Negative experience: It’s sad it has come to this. I have joined gym as a member and was given a timetable - needless to say it was reduced by 20% months after joining and now further classes were cut. They have classes ‘which are not included on my plan’ however and are advertised for pennies on ClassPass which I can’t join as my membership is Fitness only so doesn’t include dance or yoga. The fact that it no longer includes classes that were taken off the timetable is conveniently omitted in our discussions. Surely a solution would be to add few classes from other membership menu, but NO. You signed so they don’t care is a bottom line. I emailed admin to no avail as they tell me ‘I don’t know how gym memberships work’ - if you want my advice use it through ClassPass but don’t sign any contracts as it’s pointless - the moment they have you trapped you have no rights - at least with ClassPass you can go where you like. I wish I never joined.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm afraid all I can do here is detail our conversations that have been ongoing since 2019. While we do try our best as a small independent business to be as flexible and accommodating as possible to all, it does seem that sadly we can't achieve 100% satisfaction. In 2018 you signed up through a third-party company running a promotion for us at our gym. You paid £599 for a year of Fitness Membership (Usually £708) and got 2 extra years of membership for free. This makes your equivalent membership c.£199 per year, or c.£16.60 per month, the usual rate being £59 per month. When you signed up your initial complaint was that you couldn't book Yoga classes, however the membership you signed up with did not include Yoga classes. We tried to offer a customised membership that would then allow Yoga classes to be booked, which you agreed to, but then never went through with, as you had a membership with Fitness First. This was January 2019. The next time we spoke was over a year later in March 2020, when the pandemic started, and you were not not happy with what we had decided to offer online when everyone was suddenly locked down, and our doors were shut. You decided that our live bespoke classes were the same as what you could get on YouTube, so you requested a suspension of your membership. After an error on our side confusing your promotional membership with a monthly paying membership, we did then suspend your account as requested, while we were closed. Your next email was in June 2021, when you asked for your membership to be reinstated, which we did for you. The next day is when this particular complaint you refer to in your review became an issue. The timetable from January 2019, and post-pandemic 2021, had changed. Your immediate emails claiming a contract breach began June 2021 made it clear to us that if we didn't put our timetable back to how it was when you joined in 2019, we were no longer offering what you signed up for, and you wanted the membership revoked. My exact reply is here: "Thanks for your email. As a club, your membership is a promotional one, usually a year of your membership costs £708 and I think you paid £599 and got 2 years for free. This membership comes with our Fitness level of membership. This membership gives access to the gym and to the current timetable of Fitness classes. This timetable is always subject to change, it is not something that can be expected to always remain the same, otherwise a fitness business could never adapt depending on what classes may or may not be working in terms of popularity, but at the moment we are also under Covid restrictions. I don't know if you are fully aware, but Covid has placed restrictions on all gyms, meaning that our class numbers have to be less, and we have to have a gap between classes. This means we can't physically fit all of the classes that we would usually run into our schedule." We suspended your membership again for you as requested. Then in Sept 2021 all memberships that were suspended as requested due to Covid, were reactivated. However again, as the timetable was not the same as 2019, you sent an email claiming a breach of contract. My reply is below: "Thanks for emailing. I'm not sure you understand how gym memberships work... You joined with access to the Gym and Fitness Classes, the timetable when you joined is always subject to change. As time goes on certain classes have to change, and we may add or remove classes based on demand and current trends. ..." As someone that joined on a promotion, paying the equivalent of c.£16.60 per month. If you had attended just 2 classes per week on our timetable, this would have been the equivalent cost of c.£1.65 per class. This excludes visits to use the gym, or even more classes, bringing the cost per visit to you even lower. I am very sorry that our timetable now, and the cost, is unreasonable.

Fantastic experience: Definitely the best gym in North London! Everyone is friendly and kind, the teachers are great and put their heart in making the class not only top quality but also enjoyable. It’s a great community with lovely people. I absolutely recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: Really nice and friendly gym. Perhaps not the most high tech equipment but definitely the most affordable in comparison to their package. And the staff have always made me feel at home.

Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed my first lesson here! Very affordable too.

Negative experience: A friend and I attended what was advertised as an ‘absolute beginners pole class.’ We found the class and moves taught were tailored to the intermediate students in the class. We left feeling a bit dejected because we weren’t able to do any of the moves.

Hi Amelia, sorry to hear that, could you tell me which class so we can look into that and make sure we’re doing things as best as we can? If you’d like to email us as well we would be happy to offer you a second class without charge so we can give you a great experience.

Fantastic experience: Genuinely the best gym I have ever had the privilege of being a member of. Staff and other members are all very friendly, the classes are great and gym is well equipped. I left once and rejoined after trying a few other gyms. None compare in my view.

Hi Owen, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. You’ve not left any feedback though, and you are not a member, so we’re not able to address any issues you may have had. If you’d like to discuss this, please do email us and hopefully we can resolve whatever it was that lead you to leave a 1 star review.

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym you can find! Classes are very diverse with incredibly talented teachers, the gym has a community feel and for many this was a second home before lockdown. During lockdown they set up virtual classes incredibly fast which were very well organized and gave me a feeling of routine and connection during these strange times. Can't wait to be back with my Fit Fam!

Fantastic experience: Apart from it being an amazing gym with top quality classes and instructors, it’s a wonderful community!

Susana A 5 years ago

Negative experience: SCAMMERS!! They had a promotion a few months ago with discount prices to encourage people to do exercise. Classes were not included and they explained how much someone could save in a year with the promotion. What they DID NOT MENTION was that we were signing a 3 years contract with a credit company. If we don’t keep paying for 3 years, it will affect our financial record. I have been tricked and scammed by them! Reply: I was given the iPad just to enter my personal and bank details. At no point I was told or it was pointed out that the contract was for 36 months, that detail was conveniently omitted. Since I was just told how much I would save in a year with this promotion, the logical conclusion was to believe this was a 1 year contract. Yes, I am moving away so please, send me an email explaining what I have to do to cancel my membership.

The Factory Fitness and Dance Centre
The Factory Fitness and Dance Centre

Hi Susana. I am sorry you feel like this. We are surprised to hear this though as it would be very difficult for you to join up on this very limited time promotional membership without knowing the terms and conditions as you self-enrolled using an iPad whilst present in the club. The membership you chose is significantly cheaper than our normal rates specifically as involved a longer time commitment (much like mobile phone contracts and mortgages). The process you followed was: 1. The member joins by filling out an electronic form on iPad. This mentions the 36 month commitment 4 times. -On the very first page shown on the iPad -When selecting the membership the customer physically has to click on the 36 month option -Once clicked the member is shown another box showing they have chosen a 36 month membership -Once bank details have been entered the member is asked to review their membership choice You were then automatically emailed the terms and conditions with a clear statement showing the membership plan as 36 months. We then printed off and gave to you a congratulations letter saying you have chosen the 36 month membership. Of course if you have a genuine reason for cancelling such as moving away, or medical issues, this can of course be cancelled.

Positive experience: Nice gym with good classes. A few points for improvement: - almost no classes in the morning - some classes start very late like 8pm/8:30pm and have the same schedule throughout the week (they could at least vary the time during the week) - pole dance classes have too many people (20 or more) so you don't have much attention from the instructor and you can barely see yourself in the mirror and check if you are doing the correct moves Apart from that, it's great.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely the best gym in London. I used to be afraid of the idea of working out in a gym and now I love it, everyone here is always friendly and I always feel at home and accepted. The classes are brilliant too, and included in membership which is a huge bonus. Thank you to Emily, Hope, Becky, and everyone else at the factory for all your unfailing support and great teaching ❤️

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym in north London, the factory has a really friendly atmosphere where staff and trainers all say hi and know you personally. There is a great mix of classes and gym equipment. I couldn’t recommend this gym more!

Kate Hartley 6 years ago

Positive experience: Lovely gym, very friendly people. I see the same faces every time, which is quite unusual in London! Great yoga teachers too. Only downside for me is that the weekday classes are mostly in the evenings. But this is my local gym and it's super convenient for me.

Fantastic experience: The Factory is the most welcoming, warm studio I've been to! Every member of staff I've met has made me feel so welcomed, it's truly a family atmosphere. It has shown me that dance and fitness classes can be so friendly whilst still challenging which I'm finding to be more and more rare in London. Honestly the best studio EVER! Would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Best independent gym and dance studio in London. Extremely friendly and helpful staff which isn’t something you find often in this city, also great advice regarding nutrition and how to work efficiently to reach my gym goals. Would highly recommend this gym and would travel here from anywhere for the service.

Georgina B 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great independent gym. Has everything you need for a good workout - from newbie to veteran gym goer. Is welcoming, unpretentious and has a great list of class offerings lead by fabulous instructors. Also has an extra element of various dance class workshop offerings, pole dance (from beginners to experienced - most intense work out ever!) and Ariel hoop - so if you have ever wanted to explore these activities The Factory offer a safe, non judgemental placeto give these things a try.

Hi Oral, thanks for your feedback. It’s a shame you didn’t highlight any of these issues other than the sauna taking too long for you. Hopefully our other reviews will speak to the efforts we put in to try to have a great facility and environment. I hope you find somewhere that offers what you are looking for.

The Factory Fitness and Dance Centre
The Factory Fitness and Dance Centre

Hi Lenia, Sorry you thought our service was poor. As we discussed by email when you requested a to cancel your membership with short notice, we need to have the minimum notice period required, as is in our Terms & Conditions, available at all times via the website, that you agreed to when joining online, and again clearly written on our Membership Administration contact page as well. I'm also sorry you found our app difficult to use, I've not had any feedback from you prior to this, if you can reply to our email I can help you with whichever part of this you are struggling with. Thanks again, The Factory

Fantastic experience: For the past 4 years, The Factory has been like a home from home for me. As someone who loves all forms of dance, finding so many great classes in one venue is brilliant. The teaching is fantastic, and the staff and other members are so friendly that it feels like being part of a Factory family. The classes are very inclusive, and from dance to fitness to yoga there is something for everyone. I can't recommend this place highly enough, 5 stars all round.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. So sad I’m leaving it because moving away from north London. I workout most mornings between 6:30-8am and always see friendly faces and smiles. PTs are friendly but also not intrusive. Other members are much the same. It is welcoming to all and has great facilities. Personally I loved the barbells and lifting platforms. The only thing the gym would benefit from is a few more bumper plates.

María Heredero 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: In February 2018 I joined this gym with a 6 months membership and it just finished this Saturday. After all this time I can say that it’s by far the best gym I’ve been in and the only one that has gave me solid results. There are a lot of classes with brilliant instructors. There is a social component that creates a family feeling, so newbies feel really welcome. The best part is the Personal trainer once a month (included in the price) that helps you to achieve your goals and keep you on track. In my case, it was Poppy, thanks to who I’ve learned to change my body through resistance training. She has patiently helped me and modified my routines to adapt them to what works for me, so it’s something that I enjoy. I’m happy to say that I will be renewing my membership as soon as I’m back from holidays, as for the first time I’m actually looking forward to go to the gym after work!!!

Fantastic experience: I love this gym.a lot of classes-yoga, dance, aerial classes included within reasonable membership. Also a free Personal trainer per month. Also good teachers too

Jonathan Kassian 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym, maybe the best I've ever been to. It's a slightly different concept -- there is more of a focus on movement stuff like kettlebells and classes, than lots of weights and equipment (though there is some). Your membership includes one trainer session a month, which taught me (a 20-year gym rat) some great new approaches. Michael Brook was a kickass trainer for overall strength and fitness, really knows his stuff and makes it fun. I only did weekend yoga classes (which take place in a beautiful space, with really good instructor), but membership includes all classes too I think. Reasonable fee for what you get, staff are all really friendly and really helpful, and place has a great feel.

Katt Wade 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, I have to say. It is a smallish place so don't expect your Gymbox's of the world, but there's ample equipment to work out with and plenty of classes to choose from. Some of the memberships include a monthly PT session which is helping keep me on track, and it's right round the corner from my house. The only improvements are things such as the benches being a little old, but newsletters say these are being updated anyway. Poppy is my PT and she's wonderful. The rest of the staff are always very friendly, and the gym is never too busy. I plan to continue going here until I move out of the area.

Alfonso Fidalgo 7 years ago

Positive experience: I was a user for 6 months and overall I had a good experience. I really appreciate the classes, however, I missed more variety of them since the majority are dance related. The gym area is a bit small and the equipment is a bit old, but there isn't generally many people so working out is pleasant.

Maya 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: This is hands down the best gym I’ve ever been to. Joining has genuinely vastly improved my quality of life. I have a chronic joint condition that causes me a lot of pain, and although it’s been advised I’ve always hated exercise and especially gyms. Before joining this gym I did little to no exercise and was in near constant pain and now, thanks to the varied classes on offer and the amazing staff here, I go to the gym about 4 times a week and am in less pain than ever. The personal training (I’ve worked with Raymond and Arron - both brilliant) is especially useful to me as they are able to give me advice on the best exercises for my condition. Thankyou so much to the whole Factory team!!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for around 18 months and will happily say that this is the greatest gym I have ever been a member of. The staff and trainers are amazing and make every visit an enjoyable one (...an enjoyable gym...what???) Everyone is full of encouragement and positivity - it's way more than just a gym.

Fantastic experience: It's great. Amazing studios, staff friendly from reception to classes and PTs. So professional too, absolutely. Not crowded. The only thing is that some classes are soon fully booked... But of course they are: they are amazing!!! Anyway there's always a waiting list and, you know what? I have always found availability in the end. The club is part of my daily life!!!! Members are nice as well: taken up with them. Completely fallen for it.

Fantastic experience: Small, friendly gym with enough machines for its members and a great selection of classes at suitable times. The staff are great at showing you how to use equipment and suggesting training plans, especially for those with injuries. The dance instructors particularly are excellent. To the reviewer who said they had to continue paying their membership on 'forgetting' to cancel it... did you really expect anything else?

J Smith 12 years ago

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for 4 years now. The staff are friendly and now the equipment is top notch. The personal trainers are excellent. There are also classes but I've never been to them. Also, celebs often use the studios to rehearse.

Jem Murray 12 years ago

Fantastic experience: I've been a member here for almost two years and really love it. The have a great variety of classes in dance, yoga/pilates and fitness. Tina Baker (aerobics instructor) is so much fun and really knows how to keep you motivated. You can have regular reviews to monitor your progress and the staff are very friendly and always willing to help (I thought I had broken the power plate machine once – but it turned out the plug had just vibrated out the wall!) #Irishtini

Helen Thorogood 12 years ago

Fantastic experience: It might be called 'The Factory Gym', but it is far from a Factory in it's nature. Very liberating and unique. It's quite a creative gym, in that everyone is free to do their own thing and use the gym in the way they want to. Definitely not a 'one size fits all' approach. There is always expert advice, support and encouragement available, but it's not forced upon you. The only gym I have ever joined, stayed at and actually enjoyed going to (there were about 4 predecessors. No really). Classes are excellent, particularly Zumba, Aerobics and Spinning. Team are lovely. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I love the gym for the great variety of classes and ability of the instructors

Sue Kerr 12 years ago

Fantastic experience: I like the Factory very much. It is not too chaotic, you are not bombarded with loads of TVs and very loud music belting out and the staff are helpful and chatty. Plus it's got its own CAR PARK which is very helpful!! I highly recommend you joining, you won't be sorry!!

Fantastic experience: I have been trying to get into weights for years and have never found a gym which makes me feel comfortable enough. This gym is amazing. The staff are fantastic and have helped me achieve more than I could ever have hoped for, the classes (and the choice of class) are absolutely fantastic and make life so easy having the choice of everything under one roof. Alex is a fantastic Manager and always helps me out if I'm doing something wrong as do all the others. Altogether a vibrant, friendly, well presented and HUGE value for money gym. Pricing options are also amazing compared to others. This gym has changed my life without sounding like a complete cheeser!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of The Factory Gym for two years now and I LOVE IT! The place is really uplifting. Alex and the team are fantastic, always interested in having a chat and finding out how your day has been. The classes rock. My home away from home.
