Positive experience: About 1 month ago I had a walk around this gym and I have just been for a work out with a day pass. I have 3 issues with this gym, 2 of them are just personal preference so I haven’t taken that in to the count as it’s not really a function of the gym. The one which I have marked it down for is, I could find any water fountains. I travel around a lot and been to quite a lot of gyms and there’s always a water fountain. I find a gym with no water available a bit bewildering. If there is one and I missed it please let me know and I’ll update to a 5. Personal preference: The music is too loud, and today was quieter than when I went for the walk around. I had noise cancelling earphones which worked when in the zone but as soon as I wasn’t in the zone I could still hear the music from the gym. I don’t like the dumbbells. They aren’t bad, just not my preference. I like that they are all uniform and the same brand (I really like that), but they are quite bulky. The 10kg are about the same size as the 30kg in my normal gym. Doesn’t change the function, just my preference, they are still usable. The good point: It’s a cool gym, cool vibe, great layout, loads of equipment and multiples of each thing, or at least there are multiple machines to train the same muscle groups. I went Sunday evening so not sure what it’s like in peak hours but I can’t imagine you’d struggle to find what you need. The opening hours, I know it’s near some 24/7 gyms, but let’s be honest that’s either JD (teenage utopia) or pure gym (not much else I can say). For what feels like a locally owned gym to have decent opening hours is really nice to have around. Membership price. It’s not bad. It’s £35 per month which isn’t bad for what’s inside. Yes it’s more than some of the others but you get what you pay for. This is a long enough review but I think it’s fair. I recommend this gym, just bring extra water and ear plugs

Fantastic experience: One of those gyms that you expect good things, but it still over exceeds that expectation. From the atmosphere, the staff, the equipment down to the changing rooms. The highest of quality and one of this gyms you can’t get enough off. Not to mention the supplements at reception on offer along with the friendly staff

Negative experience: One day, I visited the gym as a guest with a friend. The music was extremely loud, making it uncomfortable to focus on my workout. To try and block out the noise, I put in my AirPods to listen to my own music, but it felt silly. It was so loud that I suggested to my friend that we step outside. I felt like we were in the wrong place; this is not a gym—it's more like a dance club! Even dance clubs don't play music this loudly. Because of this issue, the operators seem to be running the business incorrectly, so I gave them 1 star.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, car parking area and equipment is full of variety with dumbells going up to 70kg. Great reception area and good staff member friendly and welcoming. Changing room was clean and tidy too

Fantastic experience: Decent equipment, especially for the Chest & Back, with plenty to choose from; however, extending their opening hours to 12 would be dope.

Positive experience: Decent gym with good equipment but has no air fans installed so the gym smells really bad at times.

Fantastic experience: Class gym all the equipment you could ask for from brands such as Prime, hammer strength, life fitness, panatta, cybex, nautilus. Split into power racks, back, legs, chest, shoulders arm, sections then dumbbell rack and plenty of benches, cardio area upstairs. £10 for a day pass, good music.

Negative experience: I signed up last year, decided to cancel my membership as I found a closer gym, they still took my money, over a year later they take money from my account randomly, this isn’t on….

Fantastic experience: Recently joined after being a member for many years at Village hotel. I came for a look around and really liked the feel and vibe here, compared to other gyms in the area. From looking at some reviews here, i was slightly apprehensive however, I think some are too pedantic and don't recognise the difficulties independent businesses have. So far, I'm really pleased with Kings. The equipment selection is top, staff are all friendly and the music and vibe is 10/10.I never need to remember to bring my headphones as they have bangers alln the time. The members also are alot more friendly and not miserable like In the other gyms. I have joined on a rolling basis but will be signing up to a 12 month contract. Only thing which would be nice to see would be stations dotted around with tissue towels and wipes, to wipe down equipment and water fountains. However, it's not the end of the world if there isn't. The cardio area is very spacious with a loads of equipment and the weight area is large, with loads of equipment. A proper gym and just what was needed In Bury. Very pleased so far.

Negative experience: Was a nightmare to cancel mislead customers to thinking a sauna would be put in 6 months after opening still no sauna.

Fantastic experience: I’ll start with the cons (none of which reduce the star rating). There are very slight bits of work outstanding. If you are a Karen and the type to complain about cracked tiles at the bottom of the pool on holiday…. Not for you. I think for a newbie, the reception welcome could be different. Young lass being chatted up, both had zero interest pointing me in the right direction or even moving so I could pay. Maybe I’m just old and jealous, maybe it’s PTSD from a previous gym experience with staff acting like a coming of age puppy, either way - first impressions an all that. Onto the good stuff LOTS OF IT - the gym is massive. It’s pristine. I can’t imagine there will be a time whereby you are waiting to get on anything, there are so many ranges of machine/free weights/cardio machines. The changing rooms are the only bits I noticed needing a slight finish, and they are outstanding, so much attention to detail. I am not one for artful, insta body positive post, but I might well change my mind after seeing this set up (and getting a body worth sharing, I can but dream). Other odd gripes people have had about no water machines…. Behave, 2 quid for a massive 2ltr bottle and fridges with anything you could need. I would love to see a food set up - I’d spend a decent few hours here of a weekend, especially if there is a sauna/sunbeds which I didn’t get chance to look for. Also if there could be a steam room even better. I have been a gym user/runner/cross fitter/yogi (briefly) for 20 plus years, and I don’t think I’ve ever walked into a gym and dug the vibe. I really did here, it’s got a great feeling. Signing up as a member on the rolling contract, which as the final cheery on top is more than reasonable for what’s on offer!

Fantastic experience: I was a JD member before moving over to King's and I can assure you they are worlds apart. Excellent gym, excellent kit. Would appreciate drinking water but if you plan ahead you can bring a nice big bottle.

Negative experience: Full of young girls in full make up taking selfies for Instagram ect in here makes it look like a joke of a gym and puts people off going who ain't as vain

Positive experience: 4.5 stars A true bodybuilding/Lifting gym that is far from ludicrous pricing. It has all the kit you could even need to exercise any and every muscle group to your liking. My half star markdowns are: I found the lighting a bit too dim around the squat racks and seperately, I did try to contact them to ask some questions via their social media and never heard back

Fantastic experience: Loved this gym first time I’ve been didn’t need my earphones the music was great and the positive energy made me finish my run and yoga stretches like it was easy and went quick, treadmills are amazing count your workout make you know where you are and have fans staff are lovely and watching the class while on the treadmill it looked amazing can’t wait to do one the machines are great wasn’t sure it was the right gym for me when I first saw it but once inside complete mind changed loved it staff are calm about my epilepsy and the treadmills have great straps to do the emergency stop

Positive experience: Good gym but lousy payment system. I signed up for the gym on their introductory £20 per month offer and after having an issue with my card being potentially used fraudulently had to cancel my card causing the CPA to fail. Noticing this I went in on the same day to resolve the issue and pay make the missed payment. I was advised that due to the way their system worked I had now lost that offer and the only way to get my gym access back was to sign up again at £30 per month, so £110 extra per year because my card had been cancelled. I asked the question what if my card simply expired or I changed my bank and was told the same thing, sorry but you’d need to sign up again at £30 per month. A shame but I have now cancelled my membership out of principle, I’ll just go back to JD gym instead. Edited for the owners comment below. I did speak to management. They advised there was nothing they could do.

Fantastic experience: It is seriously one of the best gyms in Bury.The staff is very respectful and very successful in running the gym. Respect.

Positive experience: Really nice and spacious gym but a little too dark inside and they only have one smith machine and you have to wait to use it while there is 10 squat racks that no one its using . I was expecting a free day pass to try it for the first time and also day pass its 10£ which us expensive.

Negative experience: I tried to contact them to cancel my membership, later after 1 week got deducted and when I asked the reason said we couldn’t find your name and already gave them my details before. Until now I don’t know if I got cancelled my membership or not but not professional. Now staff just seeing my messages on social media without replying ZERO ZERO ZERO

Negative experience: If I could give 0 I would I have tried to contact them repeatedly all social media platforms, as that’s the only customer service they offer, to cancel my membership, I initially did it within the 14 day money back guarantee window but I have had no response. I have contacted Harlands as per your FAQ’s but they do not manage your payments therefore cannot help me. You are taking payments from my bank, having stored my bank details rather than via direct debit. I want to cancel my membership but it looks as though they make it impossible to do so you keep paying. Not impressed

Negative experience: Tried to cancel membership for 3 weeks now, messaged all social media platforms and even contacted harlands but they referred me back to kings gym, no communication.

Fantastic experience: WHAT A GYM! MADE FOR EVERYONE

Positive experience: Overall a good gym, plenty of weight lifting equipment with cardio machines on the first floor. The gym is more of a weight lighting gym. Not the very good for exercise classes

Fantastic experience: Cracking Gym. Really hit all the fundamentals and hit them well. You can see it's been developed by people who know gyms, not money men. Shame to see reviews from people who have not used the gym bringing down the average star rating.

Fantastic experience: Wouldn’t want to be anywhere else to train/ work, the owner has done an unbelievable job bringing two of the best gyms to your doorsteps in both Farnworth and bury, there’s no where else that offers the 10/10 equipment and matches it with atmosphere on a level that no others gym manages to reach! We’re still progressing and getting better each day! We don’t just improve one part of the gym we improve all parts of the gym. Bury Kings Gym is going to have everyone signing up in no time because there’s no gym better and if you haven’t realised that yet then you will soon.

Fantastic experience: Let's be real here, we're not paying a premium price, so there's no need to expect the world... And they've just opened, so there are going to be "growing pains" , but I'm confident they'll get fixed. It was my first time going today, staff were extremely professional and friendly - I was really impressed by the equipment, and range of weights available. Plus it wasn't overcrowded, and with the space available, I can't see it facing that issue. Overall, A+++

The staff really friendly and welcoming and will gladly show you how a machine works if your unsure. I've not used my ear phones in there yet as the music and vibe is amazing Always clean and tidy. Fantastic experience: The gym's just opened so not everything is quite ready - but everything's really useable. The weights floor is packed with everything you could ask for. The machines are great and there are loads of free weights. The cardio floor is only half full - I can't wait to see what's coming. But 90pc of the treadmills etc were free when I went there. The womens changing room was nice and very clean. Lockers seemed secure with your own padlock, showers were good. There's a sauna opening in the next couple of weeks. Staff and members were friendly. The vibe was good. There's a sizeable shop at reception if you want water or shakes or anything. Great place. I'm looking forward to training here.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing gym. Kit is on point. Best of the best equipment anyone could ask for. Staff are friendly and go round putting plates away and helping members regularly. Changing rooms are second to non and can’t wait for the last few touches to be done. This gym is my new home

Negative experience: Update 3 months in. No water machines, cold water tap, or plans to install one, just water they will sell to you. No hand dryers in changing rooms or paper. No hair dryers. For the last 10 days no Soap in the dispensers. Not sure why it's opened half finished. No benches in changing rooms, no hand dryers, no sauna, no Smith Machine, no water machines, half the Machines are 2nd hand with no plate number's on, wet paint everywhere and boxes everywhere. Not a great first impression. Will give it 2 weeks

Fantastic experience: Some of the best facilities in a gym in England not just the Northwest

Negative experience: Can not see why bury need another gym as theres already 10 in Bury so why another, just think it's going to fill the car park, but still it's only 2 hrs parking or a automatic ticket and there not cheep.
