Negative experience: Used to come here everyday but the lack of air con at any time of the day is appalling. Doesn't matter how many people are in the gym or the time of day, way too hot to complete a workout to full potential. Can respect the environmental impact but no airflow on the ground floor majority of the day isn’t acceptable. No other gym in Swindon is as uncomfortable as this one. Anyone thinking about using this gym just don’t bother and go to Stratton PureGym or JD gyms instead, bigger, better, staff are friendly, it’s cleaner and you won’t pass out of heat exhaustion.

By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels, and our ventilation system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, making sure we meet these requirements and provide good air movement around the gyms. These levels are based on size of the gym, and occupancy levels, and are regularly monitored. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Positive experience: The gym itself is okay, decent equipment. However, the gym itself is way too hot! Whether it’s summer or winter, the air conditioning isn’t adequate. Feel like I can only do half a workout and burned out from the temperature. Please cool it down in there!

Fantastic experience: On July 6, 2024, money was withdrawn from my account and on July 10, 2024, my subscription was closed, leaving me with access to the fitness room, I don't know why, because I wasn't informed of anything before, I had to open another subscription to pay once more for the opening plus the month in progress, something like that doesn't seem normal to me, to pay it again in 4 days to close it for no particular reason.

Negative experience: no radio, no air conditioning

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Negative experience: Left due to difficulty accessing equipment. Unfortunately this gym appears to have far too many active members for amount of equipment it provides. During my last few months here, every piece of equipment had a queue. The staff are also a bit odd. There's one guy that walks around with a feather duster, flicking the equipment and when he is doing a PT session, leans against the machines and plays on his phone.

Negative experience: Gym itself is fine, decent equipment and clean. Showers in the main changing rooms are cold, which spoils it for me, other gyms in the area are the same price with better changing facilities. Disabled loos have hot showers but one hot shower for the whole gym isn't a solution.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, they have a lot of static fixed equipment and a lot of free weights, a huge cardio area as well! Toilets are always fairly clean, although some people are not very respectful of others, so you can't blame the staff. Good sized locker room with showers, bring your own lock and key! They do have a variety of PT's for all your goals! Open 24/7 and easy access through the app QR code or numerical code. Overall very friendly environment!

Positive experience: It's my gym and I still use it, happy with the machines etc but they've really got to work on the toilet situation. Almost every time I go it stinks of pee anywhere near the toilets. They have about 4 machines right next to the toilet and if someone comes in and out , even just opens a bathroom door, I'm literally gagging at the ingrained pee smell. I never want to use the toilet while I'm there because I'm so disgusted. Could you invest in air fresheners or make sure cleaners are really cleaning the floors? It's just foul

Negative experience: Was a member for about 6 months, Way too many people for the Building Size, Could hardly ever get to use most of the equipment. Regardless of time of day. The Lockers were a nightmare, complete waste of time, and changing rooms were again either full or people just dumped there stuff everywhere so you couldn't really get changed with ease. Made the experience tedious. avoid.

Fantastic experience: As a beginner and being new to the gym, I was anxious about going. I decided to enlist a PT which has helped massively. Having Hayley to guide me and give me focus is making it an enjoyable experience. The gym is clean, and the environment friendly.

Negative experience: No. The gym is small, stuffy and meh. It's split upstairs and downstairs. Mainly cardio upstairs along with toilets, downstairs is small and cramped, equipment too close together, roof shakes with the runners upstairs, it just feels like you are on top of each other. It was so stuffy also, just not a great experience. Greatful I'm at Stratton.

Negative experience: *LITERALLY just got kicked out of the functional area by a PT because of a group class* I recently experienced (1 hour ago) a challenging situation at the gym which compelled me to share my feedback. As someone who greatly appreciates utilizing the functional area, particularly for exercises involving kettlebells, box jumps, the assault bike, and the sledge, I encountered an unfortunate incident during my workout. During my session, a group class was being conducted by a personal trainer, and they had occupied the entire functional area, leaving no space for other individual workouts. Despite my preference for using the functional area and the available equipment, I was requested to leave the area mid-workout to accommodate the ongoing class. To my surprise, I was even advised to take my 24kg kettlebell upstairs, though I initially presumed it to be a jest. Considering the gym's size and layout, it would be more appropriate for group classes to take place in the designated class area upstairs rather than overtaking the entire functional area. This way, both group class participants and individual gym-goers can enjoy a more harmonious and conducive workout environment. I understand that group classes are an integral part of a gym's offerings, but it is equally important to ensure that designated areas are respected to cater to everyone's fitness preferences. To those who particularly enjoy incorporating exercises involving the sledge, box jumps, kettlebells, pull-up bars, and free weight racks into their routine, I would advise avoiding the gym during the hours of 0600-0700 to prevent any potential disruptions. As a result of this unfortunate experience, I have decided to discontinue my membership with Pure Gym. I rarely write reviews, but the manner in which I was asked to leave the area was undeniably discourteous and unprofessional. I hope my feedback can contribute to a more considerate and inclusive gym environment for all members.

Positive experience: The gym is on the smaller side compared to other PureGyms. It is kept clean and tidy with cleaning stations around for you to use after using the equipment. Inside it is a little cramped with all the machines and equipment quite close together. Also, there is no natural light at all upstairs and it is very limited downstairs, as there are no windows outside - which personally is a little off-putting.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. My favourite place to be in the zone during a powerful workout. The pts are kind and very helpful, not only but also the public are helpful and will help if needed. If your alone don’t be afraid to talk to a pt. They will help and motivate you!! I took a 10 minute test during a superset and a pt made sure i was okay. The equipment is great too, with plenty of cleaning stations to ensure top notch sanitation. If your unsure how to start definitively do an induction first and take some classes!! The class list are great and there is something for everyone. I was listening to the pt doing a class while I was working out and it really helped motivate me. Love this place
Positive experience: Not a large gym but really well equipped. Only grievance is the showers - water pressure not great, drains need to be cleaned as doesn't take long for a lake to form at your feet. And the hairdryers couldn't dry paint, let alone your hair.

Fantastic experience: Like all of the PureGyms this place has much to offer. The layout is 2 floors. Plenty of treadmills, two escalator stepper, Parking close to it is at times not easy. I would recommend to anyone

Fantastic experience: A clean gym with a good mix of difference particularly age. Friendly and approachable staff who are obviously experienced. Other members seem friendly, focused and respectful. All in all a good gym with a nice atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to this gym for several months now. It is great value for money with a good range of classes at all different times to suit everyone. Classes with Hayley and Callum are always brilliant and challenging. I highly recommend them if you want to leave the gym sweating & feeling like you’ve had a really good workout!

Negative experience: Not my favourite gym experience. I train at puregyms all over the country as I travel for work and like to have a reliable 24h space I can train multiple disciplines. This gym is small and cramped and equally untidy. The machines work but are not kept in the best condition. I choose puregym due to their studio space as this it's ideal for Circus and handstand training, which huch I require for work. The staff at this gym told us not to train circus here which is very upsetting as I have not had this issue with any other puregym. There are also signs banning handstanding against the walls which is a shame because calastenics is an amazing form of physical fitness. Not a circus friendly gym and I will not be coming back to this branch

Fantastic experience: This is the single best gym I've been too and trust me I've tried a few. In the current climate with cost of living and all that, it's so refreshing to actually have a great gym session at a reasonable price. It was £6.99 and I know it's still a chunk for 1 day but compared to the Link Centre in Swindon, they wanted £12 for 1 session. So glad I found this place and I'm glad to say the only way is PURE from here on out. Wish they would give the option of £13.99 per month and allow you to freeze it when not used as I stop out every so often and don't always use their gym every month as I havey own gym at home. That's my only minor snag. Other than that guys and girls. Pure gym is the way to go

Negative experience: Standards have really dropped. Messy gym, dirty equipment. Dirty changing rooms and showers. A shower cubicle that has been out of order for almost a month. Showers obviously not being cleaned. One has had a piece of chewing gum stuck in it for 3 days now.

Fantastic experience: Gym equipment good quality, though limited availability on some days. Always clean and tidy. Air conditioning works well. Parking always available and free. Only downside are that the changing rooms are too small.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, really good choice of classes on between 5 - 8pm each day. And you can always get booked on. Brilliant app that allows you to book up to 2 weeks of classes. Nice equipment and good decent people of all ages attend. My favourite gym of them all.

Fantastic experience: My first experience of pure gym today, was really impressed. The staff were all friendly, it was clean and tidy, lots of availability on everything. The class was great, perfect amount of time for me. All in all I cant wait to go back.

Hi, we adjusted our opening hours so our teams can have some well-deserved time off after the past 18 months and due to current operational plans this does result in some closures. Negative experience: A fairly small Gym for PureGym. Equipment works though looks a little outdated. Some areas are clean, however some of the higher areas are covered in dust and cobwebs.

Staff do regular cleaning checks in the gym and we have dedicated cleaning teams who come each night to carry out and comply with internal and external audits. Of course, during peak times it can be difficult for us to compete all cleaning routines, however as soon as it is possible our staff will complete all procedures and checks. If you have concerns with the cleanliness in your gym we can check the cleaning rotas and ensure all procedures are being followed. Fantastic experience: As someone who was slightly apprehensive about starting the gym, puregym was a great choice! A great layout, super clean and the staff are extremely supportive if you need help with anything. Started PT sessions with Neil there and I've never had improvement in myself like it before!

Fantastic experience: My second home now :)
Positive experience: Whilst the equipment is cleaned, after a spill upstairs, there is a pungent smell. Whilst it may not be a problem for others, it has prevented me from evening stepping foot up there. The equipment is good, but during peak times, completing a workout is difficult. With only one chest press bench and due to its popularity as a workout, unless you stand beside it or hold your spot in the queue, you won't get access to it. People in the gym often times don't follow the guidelines of wearing a mask into the facility and between stations and neither is it enforced. Overall, the gym's staff are helpful when approached, with a great range of PTs. I do recommend it, but it does not mean it is perfect.

Positive experience: Good, clean Gym. The treadmill feel a little older and there was no clear way of adding distance while running, only adding time or speed. It's a local gym so will be going here from now on, so all in, not bad.
Negative experience: Gym way to small and poorly organized. A whole floor of treadmills and every other equipment just tossed up together on whatever space remains. Only 1 bench press bench available, no decline or incline benches for it. The offered alternative is to use squat racks or Smith machines.... Even basics are not available like a tricep pulldown rope. Locker rooms incredibly small as well. Cheap monthly subscription but still too expensive for what you get

Fantastic experience: Great gym with good equipment. Good value for money. Always clean and have always managed to get to the equipment I wanted with little or no wait.
Negative experience: I regret joining this gym. I left the best gym in Swindon BUZZ Gym to support a mate in getting fit and joined pure gym and in the first month I already truly regret it. If you want a gym with a Changing room twice the size of a walk in cupboard, lockers large enough to fit a small ladies handbag and have to see staff that don't look like they want to be there, then this gym is for you. Today a member of staff pointed out to us that we were using a ladies bar to lift weights on, he made it quite clear four times out loud that it was a ladies bar and that it had ladies bar written on the side almost to prove a point that a 5ft2 male of small stature did not need to use a smaller grip bar of which this supposedly well equipped gym only has one, yes one female bar. Firstly I'm not sure why staff come up to customers when they are clearly mid way through a set and loiter to distract you only to tell the whole gym that you are using a ladies bar because it has a Belfast ladies bar logo on the side. There are unisex toilets in the gym and apparently male weights, male dumbells, male weight bars, male kettle bells, and probably female only leg machines. So much for a gender neutral gym. I will be cancelling my pure gym membership today and paying for a new BUZZ GYM membership for myself and my mate to keep supporting him get back into fitness. We come to the gym to stay fit and keep our minds at peace and not to be degraded for using a small diameter weights bar with the word ladies on it.

Fantastic experience: Excellent training environment! Good selection of classes, clean and friendly gym.
Negative experience: Signed up when it first opened as a budget beginners gym. Early sign up was £10.99 per month which was enticing. Its modern and the app works well, and the range of equipment is decent. However the price is reflected deeply in other areas; 1. Very little space. The studio is for some reason open onto the rest of the gym, and the music played in classes is super loud and disturbing. I would have my headphones all the way up and it was still extremely loud. I cant see the logic behind not making it a separate room at all. Aside from weights and cardio section there is a small functional area downstairs but during peak times the gym is ram packed. Leading on to my next point... 2. Class scheduling. For some bizarre reason 2 classes are often scheduled in the same slots during peak hours, one in the studio and one in the functional area. This is including classes like zumba which surely due to the clients they would attract could go in a daytime slot? The effect of this is that during peak times there is absolutely nowhere to do any sort of stretching or bodyweight exercise. 3. Unsubstantial and dirty facilities. The toilets after 8pm on a weekday are vile - broken toilet seats, bodyhair all over the sinks, no loo roll etc. I went 5 days a week some weeks and this happened every night. The womens (and I'm assuming the mens) changing rooms are tiny. The wifi frequently doesnt work. 4. Staff. So we had a few issues with the trainers here. All gyms stick to a fairly basic set of rules which they are in their right to do. My boyfriend got told off for taking shoes off to lift which is a bit annoying but fair enough. However, another time we were there, the SAME trainer who told him to put his shoes on was doing deadlifts barefoot (and might I mention dropping his weights loudly which is also against their rules). He also got told off for not wearing a t shirt which is not on their list of rules - he was only taking pictures to send to his coach and it was late night, we were the only people there, was he really disturbing anyone? I also got told I couldnt use the rack in the functional area whilst a small class was on despite a guy using it directly before me. Generally the trainers, baring the one female trainer, seem very uninterested in offering any sort of support and mostly seem to be concerned with chatting up girls. I did meet one male trainer who was friendly and helpful however he no longer seems to work there... I'm told that other PureGyms are not like this so I'm not going to take these points as a reflection of the franchise, however the Swindon branch seems to have not been designed with any sort of functionality or customer satisfaction in mind. But as I said you get what you pay for.

In regards to the staff member, if you have further information such as date and times we can look into this further for you. Negative experience: Not the best Pure really. Its pretty small so dont bother going during perk times. I found it odd that I have been here 3 months and not one member of staff has spoken to me... they dont even say good morning. In fact, i literally thought it was unmanned for the first month until I noticed this guy in the corner on his phone, with a Pure gym top on. Staff knowledge is sort of absent as well. I had a question about my pin and the reply was I dont know, so I just sort of just stared at the trainer in disbelief waiting for him to say something like 'but I will find out for you' or 'maybe if you contact customer service' but no he blankley stared back. In all honesty if I didnt use the multi gym function I was just join another gym.

Positive experience: clean, good equipment
Positive experience: The gym itself is decent, its a regular budget gym, they have a useful mobile app that you can access your pin, they also offer a quick access fob for painless entry (£6). They offer memberships with multi gym access wich is what attracted me. It could be well located for some, but not necessarily for all. A couple of faults I have is the size of Swindon one (it's kind of small) and the showers are nasty (this is the same with other pure gyms) they also don't have any way of weighing yourself without paying which I found odd (again, this is the same with other gym locations)

Negative experience: I wanted to see the gym before I committed as a member, I was told they couldn’t give me a one time pass and I’d have to pay £6.99. They said I could visit between 9-5 but I couldn’t book an appointment to be down around! Id have to turn up and hope someone was free.ost other gyms either offer an appointment or one off pass! Really poor customer service, glad I experienced that before joining.....

Negative experience: The gym is so small. I wouldnt bother, at peak times youll be waiting for machines and equipment. As said, the changing rooms are tiny. As the latest gym to open, you would have thought more effort would have gone into the lay out, as said above, the changing areas, the mats and the entrance area which has to be the most unwelcoming area known to mankind.

Due to the location and size of some of our gyms, we have to make a conscious decision aligned with the space of the main gym and space of the changing rooms. We always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio can often increase the size of the gym and therefore decrease the size of changing facilities. If you believe there could be a better layout of gym please approach the gym manager or leave a note in the feedback box, which is regularly reviewed.
