Negative experience: Customer service is extremely lacking. Unless you constantly chase them up about a getting your refund, for been overcharged, you never hear back. They also need to improve their maintance plan. Lots of rattling weight machines. Pools probably the best part of the gym

Fantastic experience: I've worked here for 2 and half years and regardless of what people say I've seen equipment fixed, repaired or solutions given to keep customers happy, in a prompt manor. we keep a high level of cleanliness with equipment and gym itself being cleaned throughout the morning and evening, the members are all amazing and friendly as well as our in house PTs and freelance instructors. Any issue that is raised is dealt with and looked at by management themselves so that it can be resolved it the fastest and most beneficial way. All members are dealt with the upmost respect, and I've never seen a team go so far to help members resolve issues or aid them with any restrictions or complications. I highly recommend this space as we have a wide range of equipment classes, and all staff are more than happy to help you with anything you need.
Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Tru Gym Ipswich. As a former freelance trainer, I raised concerns about the safety of the gym's equipment, which is often rusty and not functioning properly. Instead of addressing these critical safety issues, the management chose to terminate my contract. This decision not only impacted my ability to work but also left my clients without the sessions they had paid for. Moreover, the gym is poorly maintained; it is rarely cleaned, creating an uninviting and unsanitary environment for members. I have repeatedly reached out to the manager regarding these issues, but my messages have been consistently ignored. Now, I am being pursued to refund my clients, which is an impossible and ridiculous situation for a small business like mine. It’s clear that the management at Tru Gym Ipswich does not value the safety of its clients or the concerns of its staff. I cannot recommend this gym to anyone looking for a safe and supportive environment. Replying back to you Hi, I am quite shocked by your response as this is the first time I’m hearing these accusations, and it’s troubling that none of these concerns were ever brought to my attention before my contract was terminated. Firstly, my temperament has never been an issue, and no member or client has ever communicated any dissatisfaction with my behavior directly to me. In fact, several of my clients signed up to Tru Gym because they knew I was training there, and I have always had a reputation for caring about both my clients and the gym environment. I take great pride in providing professional, results-driven sessions for my clients, all of whom were happy with the progress they made with me. Secondly, the claim that I have made untoward or offensive comments is completely untrue. If this were a recurring problem, I would have expected management to address it with me at some point prior to termination, which never happened. To suggest otherwise is simply false. Regarding the issue of tidying up equipment, I have always ensured that I put away the weights after my sessions, as that is a basic courtesy. However, it is not my responsibility as a freelance trainer to pick up weights left behind by others who are not my clients. When one of your paid staff members ordered me to clean up after someone else’s session, I explained this to them, and there was no further issue. I am always happy to maintain a clean and orderly space, but there are clear boundaries regarding what is expected of freelance trainers versus gym staff. Additionally, I find it quite concerning that it took three months for Tru Gym to process payment for the classes I ran, and to this day, I am still awaiting full payment. This lack of support from management not only affects trainers like myself but also impacts the overall atmosphere of the gym, which is reflected in the reviews many other members have left. Several comments highlight poor cleanliness and faulty equipment, so I’m certainly not the only one raising these concerns. Lastly, regarding refunds, the situation has been unfairly handled. My contract was terminated without notice, leaving me unable to complete the sessions my clients had already paid for. Expecting me to provide refunds in this scenario is unreasonable. Had I been allowed to finish my sessions, this wouldn’t have been an issue. I hope this response clarifies the situation. Hi Joana, there are numerous reasons for your termination. Due to your violent temperament, lack of etiquette towards fellow staff and members (such as leaving your equipment all over the gym and refusal to tidy up), and making untoward comments which have offended members. We have received numerous complaints from your clients and members, some have actually cancelled their membership with us due to your abusive behaviour. You were overheard bad mouthing clients at reception and this is not at all professional. Our gym is well managed and machines are regularly maintained. We always make it a priority to fix anything broken and aim to keep cleaning standards at the highest level. Fortunately your existing clients have chosen to stay with us despite the lack of refund on your part and they are happy with our facilities and service.. Positive experience: Overall, a great gym with lots of good and effective equipment. Only bad thing is that they do not change the music playlist, so it’s the same songs everyday, which gets really repetitive and boring, so would appreciate a change in music.

Positive experience: equipment is not perfect but the changing rooms here smell and feel alot CLEANER and fresher than david lloyds gym. david lloyds showers and drains smell bad. on good days a good mix of people of all ages. groups of men can hog the jacuzzi at times but have seen that at other gyms aswell, might need signs for users to be considerate of others

Negative experience: Untrustworthy,Don’t use this gym as they just want take your money I joined the gym as a Student and it’s not a contract package however I’ve gone for a long holiday I wasn’t gonna use the gym so I cancelled my direct debit and it’s common sense when you not in contact you can easily cancel the direct debit just like pure gym however after 3 months of cancelling my direct debit yesterday they took £30 which means they are storing members card details otherwise they wouldn’t be able to take any payments after I blocked the payment. I contacted the gym and said why would you take money their response was you need to give us 30days notice but that doesn’t make any sense in the no contract membership. Surely they are very desperate for money to take money unlawfully like that and very untrustworthy gym storing details I have contacted my bank and changed all my details.

Fantastic experience: Love the place, been here for years now, recently had a issue with my membership so spoke to a lovely lady called becky at reception who sorted the issue out straight away for me and in such a pleasant manner all with a big smile on her face made me feel even more at home. 100% recommended.
Negative experience: Gym is now overcrowded with equipment, doesn’t even feel like there’s a clear path through the weight section, feels claustrophobic and busy. Had a bad experience with a class I was booked onto, clearly everyone knew how to set up other than myself just standing there looking lost. Instructor shouted to me what to get which drew attention to me and I felt rather stupid and singled out! Came over and I thought was going to help but just spoke to her mate. Wasn’t even enough equipment and everyone in the class stared at me like I was some kind of outcast. Left the gym and cried in the car for about 30 minutes before I could drive home. Every other class I’ve done the instructor has greeted me, made me feel welcome and helped set up but seems this instructor just wanted to chat to her faves! Disappointed and fully put me off this gym. Some people struggle to have the confidence to get into the gym and to be made to feel so left out and on their own is really cruel!

Negative experience: Disgrace. Steamroom, is more like coldroom. Overall state of a steamroom is bad. Has many tile chips , cracks in wall's and gap's in door. Doesn't feel safe to use. Pool water is cold too. Worst gym I ever visited. Poor hygiene. Doesn't have swimsuit dryer, like other gym's. So you have to have a bag for wet swimsuit. Would recommend to avoid using these facilities.

Fantastic experience: staff are to die for! so friendly and helpful, First time I've ever been to a gym that wasn't inside a prison, I was made to feel welcome and at ease, signing up process is very easy and quick, the facilities are always clean and tidy, drinking fountains in each facility room, amazing selection of plate loaded machines, extensive free weights and dumbells, boxing and core strength has own designated spot, Great selection of cardio machines, large swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room, much more to offer than what I've stated, made to order protein and mass gainer Shakes made by the lovely ladies at the entrance desk.. and they are all lovely lady's... joyful bright and fun atmosphere, 3 months in and I've nothing to complain about, other gym users are polite and kind mannered as is the staff. very very nice little gaff here... wicked little set up, great conduct, a pleasure and absolute honour to be part of this gym. you will NOT be disappointed at all in the slightest. -Dmeetree La'sehczee

Negative experience: So where should I start ? The venue itself or the attitude of the staff and management ? About the gym I’ll say that it’s very poorly maintained and there’s no interest in keeping the facility clean and tidy, I’d say that the place is disgusting. Now about the management, I’ve been going to this gym for 2 months, then due to health issues decided to freeze my membership for 6 months. On November 17, without any announcement on my availability to continue to go to the gym they activated my membership again, charging the monthly payment, without any notice, I didn’t even know i owe them money, then I received an email stating that there’s an outstanding debt of 77£ plus admin fees of 25£, because they were not able to collect silently from my bank account. I’ve been sending emails for 5-6 times to cancel my membership and send me an payment link to pay any debt even if I didn’t agree with that debt, after 4 weeks of emails and calls I received an email a few days ago, without a title, the email went straight to spam section of my email app. Someone on behalf of the gym stated that there’s nothing outstanding, I don’t owe them anything, I was surprised, because before that their actions were a complete disappointment. You should see my face today when I found out that they passed my debt to Lowell debt collectors, without any notice whatsoever. I’m a working man with modest incomes, now I got to decide, am I turning the heat off for 2 or 3 weeks or am I giving up on some groceries or not buying gifts for Christmas for my family. Please avoid my mistakes, this gym is a nasty place with nasty people. Merry Christmas trugym.

Fantastic experience: TruGym is a good place to gym. The gym is well organised compare to PureGym. The surrounding always look clean and good friendly place. Staffs are friendly and alway ready to help. Far far better than Pure Gym with lots of kids not gyming but occupied machines.

Negative experience: Poorly maintained facilities. Several machines not working. Floor mats deteriorating so rubber comes off onto your hands. No lockers available as all the keys have been taken. Bizarre.

Negative experience: This Gym is utterly Disgusting and shame I cannot give it a minus rating. After my daughter tried to cancel her membership they still taken payment out of her bank. Shameful to do this to a 16 year old. Customer services are also disgusting and not helpful in the slightest. It is also impossible to get a call back as no one ever is there to answer the phone. I would never recommend this gym to anyone.
Positive experience: Disappointing swim today as pool full of young children - i forgot it was children permitted in afternoons - but my concern was safety as no gym staff around and children under 10 were in spa and a young boy also went in steam room and was in there for over 5 mins - far too hot for a young child and rules of gym state children are not permitted in these areas - so why is this not being monitored ? Also very young children jumping in and out of pool - again not permitted - and with no lifeguard on duty and no staff i think there were far too many small children for the pool area to be safe
Positive experience: A big thank you to Rita who went out of her way to help my mum sort out her billing/cancellation issue. Rita was so genuine and sincere in her efforts to help - always following up with phone calls and making sure we understood the process and weren't going to get ripped off. Was really refreshing to be treated this way by the admin of a gym and they're usually notorious for making it extremely difficult to cancel!

Negative experience: Joined again after being a member for a year before lockdown, feel things have gone downhill a bit. Numerous times men have been walking around doing workouts with no top on and nothing was said by staff, could be uncomfortable for women plus there is nothing to catch their sweat. Temperature was set at 18 degrees I found this far too cold, should be set between 20 and 22 degrees. A complete waste of energy and bad for the environment. Plus point is they do have a swimming pool but unless things improve will be looking for another gym. Also haven’t been shown how to use new weight machines which have been put in used to be much simpler. Was promised a refund from 4 weeks ago for a overcharge which I still haven’t received. They never reply to correspondence, these guys are absolute cowboys

Positive experience: This gym is the only one I’ve consistently attended at least 3 times a week. The staff are kind and friendly. My attendance is down to finding the best spin instructor, ever, every beat has a move, never boring. Always encouraging and never makes me feel anxious or like I’m not working hard enough. Unfortunately, as with most good things they don’t last forever and it seems the spin instructor is losing some classes. This is devastating for those of us who are at the gym at 6.30am to attend her class.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym, I joined this gym recently and I should have joined sooner. Staff is Fantastic and very polite, they always make time to great you. Other gym users are very polite and Everyone makes you feel at ease, the swimming pool is fantastic and so is the steam room and the jacuzzi. My only observation is, would be great to have wireless but nevertheless this is a fantastic gym with plenty of equipment and fantastic people.

Positive experience: (Ipswich) Nice sized gym with friendly staff. Though no money has been spent on maintaining the showers/changing rooms since take over from DW.. Most of the lockers are locked constantly (lost keys etc) The showers run scolding hot (for months now) and pushing the shower button gives you only 0.5seconds of water, hence you have to constantly push the button to have any water! Sick of complaining about the showers, hence when membership is up I will be moving gyms.
Fantastic experience: Dorina Petroi is the best instructure by far! Her classes are very energetic, she takes you through the steps to enable you to follow easily. I highly recommend
Negative experience: This gym is okay. However, I have many issues. (For context, I am a competitive strongman, training 4 days a week) Lacks equipment and won't buy more (1 deadlift platform, no specialist equipment) Nobody puts their plates away. (Meaning someone new to the gym may have to take 25kg plates off of a machine before they can use it which could be daunting) Music is pretty awful. Often periods without music or music stopping halfway through a song. Lighting is too dim. (Can barely see the cardio section because it is so dark) Classes can be on meaning they could take up large parts of the gym, disrupting workouts. Swimming pool is okay when it is not overrun by immature people or very rude Eastern Europeans Also, it's £16 for a day pass?!!!

Negative experience: Day pass price is ridiculous! Visited trugym last week for a one off session. They took my card details and not once was the price of the day pass mentioned. I was assuming it would be no more than a tenner (still would have been expensive for what it is) I then checked my account and had been charged £16. How can you justify charging £16 for a day pass for an hour gym session. Absolute extortion and the same price as some monthly memberships. If you’re looking for a gym to use for the day then avoid this gym, plenty of cheaper gyms in the area
Fantastic experience: Popped in today to view the premises with the view to join. A helpful staff member made me feel very welcome & answered all my questions. Facilities look good & affordable membership. Looking forward to getting started. My partner was impressed too so we have both joined.
Positive experience: Gym has alot of great facilities including pool and spa area. However as a former DW fitness member the equipment is the same if not old/damaged/rusty. Pool area is looking tired and not maintained. Same problem of intermittent hot and freezing cold showers. Cafe area is good however some sofas and comfy seats would make this alot more appealing. Overall a modern renovation and new equipment would be great. Pool & classes are the highlight
Positive experience: I love this gym. Very much relaxed and nothing to be worried about. Great vibes. Only thing I'd say is the swimming pool changing facilities and ceiling of pool. Only 2 cubicles to get changed if you are wanting privacy but does have spacious areas to get undressed. I think there maybe a large changing unit but uncertain as it's often shut. Great support too. Just ask for help, they are always happy to help.

Negative experience: If I could give it zero stars I would. Nothing but issues since I joined. First I was being double charged for every month. I finally received a refund and then my membership was cancelled by the staff. When I asked for it to be reinstated because I didn't ask for it to be cancelled they reinstated it at a higher monthly price. I refused to pay this and cancelled my direct debit. This was in August. I have emailed constantly since then for the manager to contact me. No one answers me. I emailed a few weeks ago to ask for my membership to be cancelled with no monies owed as I have not been to the gym and I was asked again what the issue was. I again explained at length to be met with no response. I have chased today to be told they will discuss the issue with the manager tomorrow. On top of that it is poorly maintained. The last time I went to the pool in June the celling was dripping with condensation the showers were either scalding or freezing and there was a leak in the celling of the girls changing rooms. If you want my advice don't join. EDIT: the manager called me today and has jow cancelled my membership and wiped the owed balance.
Fantastic experience: This gym has everything any gym user would need. Very spacious, loads of machines, weights, kettlebells, sled, foam rollers, in fact all the equipment you could possibly need, classes, pool, jacuzzi and steam room. Changing rooms are large and staff are very friendly and approachable and there is a cafe and seating area too. Mixed gym users - from twenty somethings to more elderly; serious competitors to keeping on top of the spare tyre clients - don't feel intimidated or uncomfortable regardless of your level. Opens at 6am so plenty of time for a pre-work session and plenty of on-site parking. What else do you need?

Fantastic experience: Returned here after it changed from DW Fitness and happy to say that it’s still got brilliant equipment, friendly staff and great facilities. Shame that the jacuzzi is still not working, though!
