Welcome to PureGym Oldham, a fitness center where we strive to provide a positive environment for all our members. Many users have praised our 24/7 access, allowing flexibility in workout schedules, especially during quieter morning hours. With an ample selection of weights and machines, our gym caters to both strength and cardio enthusiasts.
Our members appreciate the variety of equipment and classes available, often highlighting the friendly and approachable staff, particularly our personal trainers who motivate and guide members in their fitness journeys. Classes led by energetic trainers such as Matty, Martin, and Ian have received significant positive feedback for their engaging and uplifting atmosphere.

Negative experience: I’m considering leaving the gym because there’s no sense of discipline. People often occupy equipment or machines, only to sit there and play on their mobile phones while others are waiting to use them. A common practice is leaving water bottles on machines to claim them, but instead of working out, people wander around and chat with others. If someone starts using the equipment, these individuals suddenly appear, often rude and ready to argue, insisting they were still using it. Their justification is usually that they’ve been regular members for three or four years, as if that gives them special rights. The culture is frustrating and toxic. Often, equipment is left drenched in sweat because there’s no habit of cleaning it after use. This lack of basic courtesy and hygiene is disappointing, making the whole experience unpleasant. The gym’s environment feels more like a playground of bad habits than a space for serious fitness.

Negative experience: This gym is a joke

Negative experience: The gym is very good, the problem is when you are in the locker room and men come in without even knocking to clean or look at the weighing machine. Today I was on the toilet and suddenly I go out and there is a man changing the paper right next to me who came in without warning and if that is not the case they are men walking around the women-only area when there are girls who for religious reasons cannot be without a handkerchief in front of them, this is not my case but it seems disrespectful to me. They should hire a cleaning woman for the women's bathroom and send the men to the men's bathroom because I don't think it is correct for women to enter while men are showering or while women are showering they knock twice and then simply enter. Once a man came in while a girl was coming out of the showers and still listening the showers he entered after knocking twice.

Negative experience: Called in today for the first time, the dumbell rack was half empty as they were spread all over the floor, in all my years of going to gyms I've never seen anything like it, as for the manager, when I told him he just smirked and replied that he'd not been over there to notice, well you won't do when your messing on your phone.God knows what the staff actually do there

However we know that at busier times, weights are not always returned and our team complete regular re-sets of the gym. We understand that this is sometimes frustrating for our members, and it is included within our Gym Rules that members should return weights after use. Anybody witnessed leaving equipment out of place will be spoken to by our Gym Team. Fantastic experience: Been very good going to this gym 3 months in 3-4 times a week. Found that mornings are quieter before 9am. Which is a bonus just go in and do as you please. 24/7 access is a brilliant feature and for the price. Very happy overall.

Positive experience: Small gym, not many equipment maybe due to space, not kept clewn dust and cobwebs can be seen, locker are broken place looks run down.

Positive experience: Very small gym every time gym machine out of oder no cleaning gym very expensive

Regular maintenance checks are undertaken, and any issues identified are escalated to engineers straight away. Sometimes, there may be a small wait whilst engineers attend to fix any issues, but we endeavour to resolve these as soon as possible. Fantastic experience: Had Kira as a pt since last November. We always have a laugh during sessions even though she pushes me to achieve my goal. Goes above and beyond with our group pt sessions treating us to homemade cakepop and ginger shots. Have already achieved so much. Couldn’t ask for a better PT !xx

Fantastic experience: I started at PureGym Oldham in September and so far I’m loving my journey. The staff are all very friendly and approachable. I went to classes, mainly with Mickel and Matty. They make them enjoyable. Matty’s classes are always upbeat and genuinely kill you off . Martins circuit classes are also fab. I have now started my PT journey with Matty and loving it. He motivates me and pushes me to smash my PBs. Loving PureGym Oldham so far!

Fantastic experience: There’s a lot of external factors such as health conditions , side effects of medication and past history of ED made me put on a lot of weight which is why I struggle with my body a lot and was terrified of gym and how people would view me. Then I came across Rima who is literally everything I needed. She is such an amazing pt and person honestly she’s been so helpful. She helped me with my confidence and is always supportive. She helped me understand my body better. Because of her help and dedication to her clients I’ve finally seen difference in my weight (which I thought was impossible). She’s always very friendly and approachable and goes an extra mile for everyone. She doesn’t treat her clients like it’s just a job that she’s doing for the sake of it, she’s actually very dedicated to her work and cause and actually wants to and tries to make a difference in peoples lives. I don’t think I would be coming to gym at all if it wasn’t for her, because I did join a while ago felt uncomfortable and left after few weeks and then this time around I met Rima and months later I’m still here. She sees potential in people even when they can’t see it themselves. She’s always pushing me to do my best and motivates me. Honestly she’s literally just the best !!!!

Fantastic experience: The fact that he corrected me when I wasn't his client, made me choose him as a trainer. And I'm glad I did, he pushes me when I think I can't do another rep and I get 2-3 more with his help, ( the most important ones) and that's what you want from a real trainer, right? to help you overcome the limits you think you have. I highly recommend Matthew for someone who is serious about getting the best of them in the gym.

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough positive things about my personal trainer. Working with Matty has turned my fitness journey into an incredibly enjoyable experience. From day one, Matty made me feel completely at ease. His friendly demeanor and approachability create an environment where I feel comfortable trying new exercises and pushing my limits. The laughter we share during our sessions not only makes the workouts more enjoyable but also helps alleviate any initial apprehensions I had about the gym. Matty has a remarkable ability to balance professionalism with a sense of humor. It's clear that he take his job seriously, ensuring each workout is effective and tailored to my goals. Yet, the friendly banter and shared laughs make the sessions feel like much more than just a workout. He has transformed my exercise from something I once found intimidating to an activity I genuinely look forward to.

Fantastic experience: Was very nervous and anxious starting gym as I wasn’t very confident with working out i had no idea how to use any weights, machines etc but that all changed when I met a lovely member of staff there Rima she has been absolutely amazing she will go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable aswell as push you out of your comfort zone. She doesn’t just show you how it’s done she teaches you! The depth of understanding she has when it comes to personal training is unmatched! Her knowledge regarding fitness, nutrition, diet aswell as health complications and how that fits in to working out is exceptional! I love working out my fitness journey is progressing each day I feel better I look better! I’m so confident in the gym now especially with weight training thanks to Rima’s guidance I really couldn’t have done this without her! I strongly recommend anyone looking to start there fitness to get in touch with Rima you really are in very good hands!

Fantastic experience: Really enjoying my time training with Matty Q the PT here at PureGym Oldham. I started off coming to the gym on my own and Matty approached me, I didn’t feel pressured and was offered a couple of free sessions to see if our training styles are a fit. I’ve been training with Matty now for 3 and a half months and my confidence has built so much and I feel stronger. Each session feels like training with a friend, Matty is super chatty and professional. He makes sure to push me to my potential whilst keeping in mind my physical limits. He always checks in and shares so much knowledge about nutrition and women’s health and how it can impact your training. If you’re considering joining this gym, I 100% recommend Matty. The gym is clean and friendly and the other PTs are also very welcoming.

Fantastic experience: Matty was my PT for my first few sessions here and was so motivating both inside and outside the gym. Not only did he make me feel comfortable using the machines for the first time he made training seem fun !! His passion and charisma has really encouraged me to not give up on my fitness journey.

Fantastic experience: The gym is good, but Matt one of the pts is what makes this place great, I now have pt session with him but even before that he would go out of his way to help with tips and ideas, and now I'm using his service its even better, the attention to detail is fab, he listens to what your expectations are and delivers a programme to fit, any problems with it and it's sorted (just count your own reps if you ever use him )

Fantastic experience: Pure gym is great, amazing facilities, and great environment with friendly staff. I PT with Matt who is a legend, he really does care and go above and beyond to help you achieve your goals, he takes a interest in you no matter what fitness level you’re at. I really like how he give me tips and tricks to get the most out of every workout. Your not just working out your having a good laugh too he really does cheer you up and gives you more energy. I’ve been training for a little bit and am already seeing a big change in my energy levels and body. It’s great! I feel 10 years younger lol the overall vibe is great. I definitely recommend him to my friends and family ☺️

Fantastic experience: I was struggling to incorporate weight training into my sessions, with predominantly engaging in cardiovascular exercises. Thus, I wasn’t progressing as well as I could be. That’s where Matty Q came in and helped make a positive difference in my fitness journey. He is an exceptional personal trainer with a comprehensive understanding of fitness principles. I always leave feeling so much better!! he is for sure the best PT in pure gym! he goes through every single exercise with us all and does them with us!! And keeps us all hyped up and motivated! Positive experience: I've seen quite a few improvements recently with cleaning and tidying and sorting equipment. I'm a regular here and all the staff n people around are friendly. Music still sucks hahaha

Negative experience: Previous member before lockdown so rejoined, but a lot of the cardio equipment has been replaced with weights. I wanted cardio workout for health reasons but sadly the required equipment is now not there. Will be cancelling membership and joining my local jd gym

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to this gym for almost 7ish years and I’ve loved every moment of it. I tend to not go at busy times but it truly is a fantastic gym. The only negative is that the gym members are pigs who leave equipment lying around after evenings and it’s like that till morning. They do respond to feedbacks and I very much appreciate that. Hope to continue going here for many years to come and hopefully they expand in gym size.

Negative experience: Visited twice this week and showers and changing rooms are disgusting. Rubbish on the floor, dirty wet clothes on the shower room floor that have been there for 2 days, discarded bottles and wrappers on the floor of the changing room. I had to clean the shower myself this morning before I could use it. Reported this problem a number of times but it never changes

Positive experience: The equipments are quite limited and there is a wait to use them. Sometimes the water tank is not in use, majority of time. The machine which is used for finding the body health report. Not available from a long time. There is a paid machine in upstairs where you have to pay in coins. No card payment service. Majority of times, the staff is unavailable. Ratings: 3/5

Positive experience: They've expanded the ladies section a little which is great. I wish the whole upstairs was for ladies only but better than nothing. The only downfall is the entrance which is just so uncomfortable to walk through. I wish they had a different entry for modesty reasons.

Negative experience: Avoid this gym the manager Ian hall speaks to you in a disrespectful way In front of everyone at least have the decency to take people to the staff room if you want to tell them of instead of telling them of in front of the whole gym where everyone can hear so unprofessional for a manager to do this

Negative experience: I don't like the new layout of them gym. There are not enough Cardio exercise machines (e.g Threadmills) on the ground floor, which have been removed with new layout. Also the machine for lower back workout has been removed which I'm not very about. I have a troubled lower back which i have to workout to avoid back pain. I have realised few exercise machines wobble, has play and gets stuck when being used. Also buttons on Cardio machines are faulty. I hope management take note and fix the issues.

Negative experience: Have been to this gym for a couple of years. Now more than ever, it's failed itself and its members. Before it was merely a lack of equipment in contrast to the cardio machines and sometimes lack of room under peak times. Now with its recent refurbishment, it truly went down the toilet mixed with all the nasty - the refurbishment was a very nice call and change that was expected and welcomed with open arms. What wasn't, however, was the removal of bars with central knurlings. All replaced with more thin bars that are good for deadlifting and curling, if even that. Anything else is a danger zone. Those bars coupled with no central knurling and the people that will squat and bench, is an accident truly waiting to happen. Soon as the people push hard enough for some intensity, that bar will fail them. It will slip off their hands and back. Any seasoned lifter of limited or broad experience can tell you as such. Makes no sense to have done this nor putting people in potential danger due to a lack of good management and maybe less spending of equipment. Some may not see the difference in the previous bars being more thick and stiff. It will become apparent when these factors are put in to heavy lifting - an inevitable thing to happen. Steer far clear of these bars and maybe even the gym. Cardio and mediocre machines are all that is left. Not much room for improvement when the charge is the same for places slightly further away that give much better gym experience for all lifting types. The only good thing that comes from this is the 24-hour access and nice community (be it they are uncouth in handling gym equipment, leaving everything in the wrong place all the time). I have definitely enjoyed my time here but after my membership I will call it quits unless some good changes come and not some attempt to make everything look clean and pristine when the inner is made up of what isn't needed, useless apparatus'.

Negative experience: Its an ok gym, but its just left, machines have loose bolts, cables broken from machines, it stinks like they've never cleaned it, i mean they cant clean it, i saw a bottle of water near a machine for 2 days. The lockers, most are broken. Its just a huge shame because it has so much potential. Its unlooked after. No one cares.

Negative experience: Quite a compact place compared to what I'm used to, need more seating machines opposite of the weights. There needs to be a water fountain on the first floor. And chest fly machine bolts are loose. Which is a serious health hazard. Aswell as the shower canopy needs to be cleaned. And bicycle buttons are mashed up.

Negative experience: Was with THE GYM before (which is an amazing gym, everything you ever need, also nicely spaced out). Had to sign up for Puregym because it's closer to my home. But I will cancel the membership because it's such a poor quality gym, and it's the similar price to THE GYM, if anything more expensive. •every equipment is close to each other •not enough space to move around •poorly lit •not enough equipment •some of the necessary equipments are 'out of order' I can go on but you get the point. Puregym needs to take lessons from THE GYM.
Fantastic experience: Love this place, 24 hour access, quiet during weekday afternoons. Amazing range of weights, machines and classes! Really reasonable pricing and access to other gyms included in the higher price. Highly recommended.
