Our comment from FitFit UK about Haslemere Leisure Centre:
Haslemere Leisure Centre is a well-regarded facility located in the heart of Haslemere, offering a variety of activities for the whole family. Visitors frequently commend its spotlessly clean environment and great facilities, which include a large 25-meter swimming pool, an excellent gym post-renovation, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Many users appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, who enhance the experience with their positive attitudes. Individual showers and both types of lockers ensure convenience for all guests. The leisure centre is also praised for its ample parking and clean changing rooms, making it a favorable choice for fitness and leisure combined.
However, some visitors have voiced concerns regarding customer service, noting frustrating experiences with management and booking systems, which can detract from an otherwise enjoyable visit. Issues such as inconsistent management presence during busy hours and insufficient supervision during booked lane swims have been reported.
Despite a few setbacks, many patrons affirm that the community atmosphere and the notable facilities make Haslemere Leisure Centre a valuable local resource for fitness and recreation.

Haslemere Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: So impressed: spotlessly clean and the pool temperature perfect! Absolutely wonderful!
Fantastic experience: Nice and clean
Positive experience: Lovely little leisure centre. Great 25m pool with nice spectator seats and changing facilities
Negative experience: Very disappointing customer service to a long term customer, used the squash courts twice a week for 10+ years - a member of staff (not for the first time made a mistake on a booking) resulting on me being blocked from using the App to book courts etc - wasted 20 minutes trying to resolve on the phone, 20 minutes at the counter to be told I could only resolve remotely - 5 emails exchanges later with Ashley, I suggested that as a gesture for all the inconvenience caused maybe one free session was a reasonable gesture - I was told it didn't meet the criteria - I suggested this was not good customer service - which has gone ignored 24+ hours later - there appears to be no understanding of good customer service ....... sad
Fantastic experience: Beautiful calm 1500 m swim today. The lanes weren't chock full of people rushing up and down making waves, it has individual showers and both types of lockers, pound AND padlock. Bit slow at reception, but who cares, with such a fantastic swimming experience.
Fantastic experience: I have just joined Haslemere leisure centre, excellent induction on the strengthening machines, the instructor took his time and was very passionate about this, answering questions we had about the machines. I had my first session on my own and I felt comfortable and confident on using the machines! Very clean environment, all staff have been helpful. Brilliant
Positive experience: A good leisure center, lots of facilities, nice big pool, lots of exercise classes, good parking
Fantastic experience: Great gym, lots of classes and good facilities. Great value for money
Positive experience: After they renovated the gym it got better, more equipments... the only bad point is that they only open at 6am, for those who start work early and want to go in the morning it gets very rushed, in my opinion they could open earlier and also the music is always very loud♀️ most people prefer to listen to their own music with headphones, sometimes the music is so loud that it is difficult to use the headphones.
Positive experience: Staff on the desk are pleasant but all management hide away and disinterest in helping the public or solving any issues. Gym equipment good though difficult to be able to get on a lot of the equipment as people stay on tread mills ,bikes, cross trainers etc for up to an hour at a time. Gym floors pretty dirty at times and often know spray or paper to wipe down equipment.
Positive experience: A brilliant gym & fantastic pool. The gym area & changes rooms have everything you need & are really looked after. The pool area could do with a really good clean … and a water fountain downstairs!
Negative experience: I used to go here until I moved to a new gym (unique Physique) this gym was so stressful when going, if you are under 16 you have to wear a band and you can’t use over 5KG DUMBELLS! No weighted machines, no barbells, and they never clean the bathrooms, the gym is kept nice and clean, but I would say that’s the only part that is. The girl employees get very angry very easily, the kicked out me and my friend when we where using the cardio because apparently we where making to much noice (we where not even talking) then proceeded to forcefully remove us out of the gym and they hardly even let us grab our belongings. Terrible gym, all round. I enjoyed coming to the gym but going here just made me hate it. Apparently it’s been stricter now. Can’t imagine, don’t go here your wasting your money. I have a passion for the gym and this place made me hate it. Luckily there is a much better gym just down the road
Negative experience: Children’s pool is freezing and changing rooms are disgusting.
Fantastic experience: Today I went swimming with a friend, we had the best time, from the moment we arrived we got good vibes from the receptionist called Ethan, who directed us and chatted to us."Ethan thank you for being so friendly and welcoming!" First impressions of the locker area, it smelt like it had just been cleaned, and it was clean and so was the changing cubicle, we were both impressed, but then we came across a very nice man called jake who put some steps in the pool for us, this was brilliant as the only lanes vacant were the middle lanes and neither of us like going under the lane dividers. "Thanks jake for making us feel like Vip princess's" And lastly we came across the sweetest lifeguard called Hannah, she could see we weren't looking very confident, so she got cover for her station and came and spoke to us. Hannah made it a happy experience for both of us, because we soon relaxed and started enjoying ourselves. All 3 of these staff members have made our visit such a positive experience, myself and my friend have decided next week we will be joining as members. Thank you so much to each and everyone of you who met us today and helped us, we will definitely see you again
Negative experience: Not only has the place got pricier and pricier, the customer service is quite appalling. Booked lane swims are not supervised and children from the swim class end up playing in the swim lanes. I wouldn’t mind if I hadn’t paid specifically for swim only lane, but I did and several other customers were complaining. Tonight I hurt my arm and asked if I could borrow a kick board so I could finish enjoying the session I paid for. No, not for the public was I told while staring at an entire pile of unused kickboards. You’d think for the entry price, minimal use of material would be included. After all, isn’t that what happens at the gym? If there was anywhere else I could swim in the area, I would. Sadly this is the only place. Pool bottom was dirty as well, thr website doesn’t work for pre-bookings and I wasn’t allowed to pay cash for entry despite seeing a cash till. Poor service and poor experience.
Fantastic experience: Went to watch my 6 year old grandaughter at her swimming lesson Impressed with the teaching and the soft play which kept her 3 year old sister occipied
Negative experience: The direct debit went up for swimming lessons and the service has gone downhill! I have had 4 lessons cancelled for my sons swimming due to not having enough teachers! and was promised that this month's direct debit would be 0 and they have taken the full amount today.
Negative experience: The gym facilities after the upgrade are a lot better and greater value for money. However with the increased volume of members and non competitive membership price the place has become a wasteland. The PT’s keep the gym clean, which shows their professionalism and dedication to providing the best environment for training .Those who are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the changing areas and spa facilities do nothing but the bare minimum. On an average week, the floors within the shower areas and steam room are caked in mud and grit as well as there always being broken toilets and rubbish showers. Everyone Active needs to open their eyes and understand how to provide a satisfactory service to all the customers, who also complain on a daily basis and nothing gets done about it.
Positive experience: A great pool and changing area. Lost one star because no swimming costume spinner.
Fantastic experience: The renovation to the gym is truly amazing. It is completely different and there is far more choice and variety of machines, squat racks, ext.
Negative experience: Turned up to play squash having made a reservation on their website. They only had one racket and no balls for us to use because “they just get wrecked”. Was offered if we wanted to use the gym but not really the same… pretty rubbish for a facility not to provide basic equipment or mention in the booking process to bring your own. We didn’t make a scene and just accepted a refund but this was really annoying as it ruined our plans!
Positive experience: The gym equipment is great apart from the utterly useless new rowing machines!
Fantastic experience: Love it.. I have been coming here for years, classes, and revamp state of the art ️♂️, squash courts, swimming pool, and lots to do for kids.
Positive experience: We play squash here most weeks and it's generally well kept and the receptionists are welcoming and friendly. I really wish they would sort out their website, can't believe how much worse it got since it changed to Everyone active and it wasn't good before. It makes booking squash so convoluted. Otherwise though it's a nice local facility to have nearby.
Fantastic experience: Really enjoying this gym. It’s just had an refurb and has lots of new equipment. It’s always clean and the staff are friendly.
Fantastic experience: Lovely here. Active Ants is lively for young ones. Swimming is good for little ones as well.
Positive experience: Often very quiet Lots of parking Clean facilities Pool temperature is not too bad Helpful staff, particularly lifeguards Plenty of lockers (£1 coin needed) Good number of family changing rooms Disabled access Limited choice at cafe but some wraps, sandwiches, pasta pots, crisps, and ice creams available Hair driers are also free to use after swimming Well sign posted Floats to use in the teaching pool Warm showers It's a shame that the baby changing tables don't have harnesses, so when I'm on my own with a baby and another small child, changing after my swim is a bit challenging
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities and professional staff and cleanliness is spot on
Fantastic experience: Good value for money!
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, good facilities.
Negative experience: Went swimming and took my children to soft play there afterwards. Pool was ok. Life guards probably wouldn’t spot someone in need for aid due to them just chatting to each other and messing around. Everywhere else including around the soft play (cafe) was just dirty and unclean. Wouldn’t recommend
Fantastic experience: Used to swim here 3-4 times a week, have now cancelled my membership as fed up with constantly being asked to move when lane swimming for school or swim lessons, place just seems more interested in making the money from this rather than any regulars, 3 times today had to move out of lanes, guards don’t really monitor these lanes as have had to put up with kids and public swimmers using lanes, they do nothing, I’m now going elsewhere, dreadful organisation, such a shame, I’m not the only swimmer complaining about this, I won’t b returning.
Thank you :)
Positive experience: I have only used the gym and steam room/ sauna and found them to be the best / largest in the area with the gym having a good variety of equipment, although it is still a rather small gym and does get very busy during peak hours. The parking is only available for two hours which is unfortunate and the gym is not 24hrs which would have made it a 5 stars for me.
Hi Victor, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we really appreciate it. We have passed your feedback onto site. Thanks, Charlotte
Fantastic experience: I've been visiting the centre for 8 weeks and enjoyed the sauna, steam room and pool facilities during office hours when it's less busy. I met lovely people, and the personnel are amicable as well. Moreover, the management sorted out a car parking fine which I could've avoided, and therefore, I'm tremendously grateful for the benevolence. Well done team!
Positive experience: Beware parking limited to 2 hours and policed by ANPR although apparently it can be extended on a terminal inside the leisure centre. Places for People kindly helped cancel the PCN on this occasion.
Hi Jerry, we're sorry to hear this happened. Parking is permitted for up to 4 hours and we ask you register your car reg with us prior to leaving. Please feel free to contact us via [email protected] with further information and we're happy to look into this.
Fantastic experience: Deep in the heart of suburbia, but a great venue for fitness, play, coffee or room hire. Register car for long-stay parking.
Hi Deborah, thanks so much for your lovely review!
Fantastic experience: Great for toddlers!
Fantastic experience: Very good
Fantastic experience: Good afternoon, I love the coffee shop and the swimming pools but regarding the soft play area a new soft area which is brighter than this soft play would be better as I find it very dark inside ,in the play room I would like to see trampolines. I hope my feedback helps, thank you
Hi Elena, thank you for the feedback, we will make sure this is passed on to the team at site. Thanks, Ellouise
Negative experience: Doesn't except cash, had exact change for a nice hot drink and where refused although the drink was already made, physical money isn't good enough anymore :(
Hi Aron, sorry to hear this, we will make sure this is passed on to the team. Thanks, Ellouise
Fantastic experience: It is a lovely pool I really enjoyed my swim.
Hi Barbara, thanks for your comments, this is great to hear and we will share with the team. Thanks, Chels
Positive experience: Very cold pool!!!!
Positive experience: Has what it needs, shame cafe isnt open longer on days they have swim galas, couldnt even get a warm drink
Hi, thank you for your feedback, we will ensure this is fed back to the team for review
Fantastic experience: Does the job with gym + sauna & steam rooms, squash, swim and classes. Plus cafe and softplay. Be prepared for a chilly swim.
Hi thanks for your comments, we will ensure we pass these on to the team. Thanks, Chels
Fantastic experience: Been here twice with my young daughter to use the small pool. Water was much colder on the second visit recently (first visit was 2 years ago) but she had a great time. Facilities are cleaner than Taro Centre and staff are very polite and reception staff organised. Will definitely return more frequently
Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff and good facilities.
Fantastic experience: Our local leisure centre and one we visit every week for my child's swimming lessons. I'm particularly impressed by the cleanliness of the pool, I've been in state of the art facilities before where the pool was less clean, it makes such a difference to the overall experience. The soft play is always a hit with the kids and the staff have always been very friendly and accommodating. The one downside is the parking, you get 2 hours free but you have to remember to enter your licence plate number at reception to get 4 hours. I've been caught out by this before and fined, despite coming every week for the last year and a half it can be easy to forget when you're running around after a 5 year old. I don't feel like this parking restriction is necessary, the centre is too far away from the town centre or other facilities to have the parking abused by anyone. I do hope they remove this some day as it does let it down a bit and feels purely like a money making exercise, knowing people will regularly be caught out.
Fantastic experience: The lovely lady on reception (I’m so sorry I didn’t catch her name but she had black curly hair) was so incredibly helpful in setting my membership up, she answered all of my questions with ease, was friendly and polite, and just a pleasure to talk too! Thank you! The facilities are very clean and well kept, they have a lovely pool and the staff are fab. Looking forward to using this centre regularly!
Fantastic experience: This is a brilliant leisure centre that I have used since I was a child. I remember when it first opened, and am still happy with the service it provides today.
Fantastic experience: Well kept pool with friendly staff. Good value for money.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful quiet and clean. Perfect place to give my 5 year old swimming lessons. Much, much better than the stressful over aggressive pool attendants at Godalming.
Positive experience: Regards the gym - the weights area is too small... it's packed at regular hours. The CV areas are at least 50% under-utilised if not empty at most times. The central monkey bar frame is mostly wasted space again. Whole gym needs properly re-designing based on equipment demand to get the most out of a small space. The benches are the wrong design for use with dumbbells (adjuster sticks out to the side, not underneath, so you hit them all the time). You could almost double the amount of resistance equipment, remove the swing-bar frame and have an assisted pull-up machine, leg-raise bars, crunch machine, and still keep everyone happy in the CV department. Long-stride cross trainers would be a good addition as well. Also too many people using benches just to dump their kit on or sit on checking mobiles while working out somewhere else / doing something else.
Hi Robert, thank you for the comments about the Gym, we will make sure this is fed back to the team, if there is anything else we can help with, please feel free to email central support at [email protected]
Positive experience: Staff are great. The phone number and social media contact pages could be more attentive. When trying to amend an appointment in advance the link didn’t work. I called and was never called back. My messages online still haven’t had a reply.
Negative experience: The pools are badly managed and are frequently closed due to lack of staff. When they are open they are mostly unavailable due to an insane amount of school swimming lessons.
Positive experience: swim member,
Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff. Excellent service.
Negative experience: Good facilities but the staff always seem unfriendly and slightly like they would prefer to be having a chat rather than helping customers. I think membership is very expensive too. Also, watch out for the parking! It's very poorly signposted but if you stay longer than two hours you get a ticket. They even charged me saying I'd been there all day when it was actually two separate visits. I'm not very impressed with this at all. Unfortunately it's my local so I am obliged to keep going there but would go elsewhere if I had the choice.
Negative experience: the staff were not very helpful or welcoming and kind of rude
Fantastic experience: Always easy access and friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant
Positive experience: Nice place to swim
Fantastic experience: Have been using the Herons for many years. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I look forward to my visits every week.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities on offer, softplay for the kids, good coffee shop. Modern gym, swimming pools for both Children and lane swimming for the adults. Swimming lessons are cheap and very well staffed. Membership is very cheap for a family.
Negative experience: Booked a family swim session today. Had to wait to get in as not enough staff on reception. Was given two old numbers laminated with blu tak on to stick on a changing room and a locker so they know which have been used so which to clean....the lockers and changing rooms HAD NOT been cleaned before us as there were hairs and grime in both. The training/kids pool has dirty sediment at the bottom of it. There was no soap or anti bac in the toilet. The anti bac outside the toilet was very old and had run out.
Fantastic experience: Swimming lessons for adult ? Please let me know the cost and quite time during the day . Many thanks.
Positive experience: Clean, which is more than I was expecting...but prices a bit to high, especially now, when many of us lost our jobs because of Covid-19
Positive experience: Good facilities but pretty bad customer service
Positive experience: Good facilities, great for young kids, especially Creepy Crawlies. Pools are good, just wish the training pool was warmer as it can be quite cold for adults standing around most of the time.
Negative experience: The inflatable sessions at the pool are great for kids. The gym can be frustrating with people colonizing the equipment bit not really using it. Staff don't want to be there. Unhelpful. Went on a very quiet time. No one else in the changing rooms and my daughter forgot her dogs trust locker coin. Asked the member of staff who was checking all the locks if they had saw it. He went bright red but denied seeing it. Manager isn't interested in any negative complaints or queries
Negative experience: Went with my friends. There was a lot of confusion and miscommunication, some things were advertised in less detail and then it turned out they had conditions that weren't ever displayed, it's overpriced and we were told the wrong times which meant we couldn't get into the pool. I have had better experiences before so gave more than 1 star but this time I was not impressed.
Negative experience: Found the way staff booted us off the squash court 3 minutes before the end of our game very rude and the courts are in aweful condition, go to midhurst leosure center.
Negative experience: Poor customer service, some staff ignoring you as you stand at the desk, the website is not updated and phone answering message incorrect saying " please hold, we will answer shortly" when the centre is closed. The place needs better management. Suggest Taro centre in Petersfield...efficient ,friendly and longer opening times.
Fantastic experience: Good for swimming lessons
Negative experience: There is a personal trainer there who is rude and pushy. It is the the women there
Positive experience: Reasonable little pool for learners but swimming not cheap at £5 a go. Nice little bit of soft play equipment in cafe that doesn't cost extra once you've paid entrance fee for other activities.
Fantastic experience: Very good sports centre
Fantastic experience: Impressive building. Staff are really great and make good capacino!!!
Fantastic experience: Friendly place
Fantastic experience: Used GYM only**Really good gym for an entry level.Even though my membership allowed me to use all the facilities for £46 all in I only needed the gym. Found the staff helpful especially the pleasant personal trainer Alana?? Plenty of parking and changing rooms and toilets always clean.Despite needing more equipment (preacher curls, stair machines etc all the things ìn a modern gym, it is highly recommended for the area.
Fantastic experience: I recently decided to get back into my fitness and re-join the gym, however I needed some motivation to do so. Alana however was a wonderful personal trainer, she has been vital in my steps to success and provided me with the guidance I needed. She listened to what I wanted to achieve and crafted a personal training plan for me to ensure that I could reach my target. She is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that I feel supported in what I am doing. She is a credit to the team there, would 100% recommend.
Positive experience: Good fun for all family.
Positive experience: Great local health centre with modern gym, soft play and swimming pool. Both a large 25 Meter pool and smaller children’s pool. Good changing facilities with ample family size changing rooms.
Negative experience: Swimming pool taken over by manger's kids . Staff allowed them to run riot , jumping in the pool and ect .. Told to get lost when I complained to manager . Would stay clear if you want a quietlife and bad idea to take out membership with .
Positive experience: Good spot for kids for swimming and playing
Positive experience: Rudiculously poor ommunication regarding swimming lessons. In the end I have given up trying to sort it out and have gone elsewhere. As just a place to go swimming it's ok and reasonably priced
Positive experience: Fine as ever.
Fantastic experience: The water was wet ... But not unpleasantly cold !!
Positive experience: Ok, friendly good for swimming
Positive experience: Nice leisure center. Good bright pool too.
Positive experience: Good main pool. The kids splash pool is really good for very young kids under 2 however its a bit too shallow for older kids and when we went it seemed s not cold compared with other local pools
Positive experience: Good swimming pool, nice soft play and good party experience
Fantastic experience: A friendly wonderful way to get fit... or not in my case!
Fantastic experience: Nice library, good childrens selection
Positive experience: Great gym facilities with decent modern and clean equipment. I don’t use pool so can’t comment. However the old changing rooms often have a bad smell like they aren’t cleaned often. They desperately need to be renovated especially the showers which feel unclean and soap holders broken or non existent. A different way of letting members in needs to be thought of. In this day of technology using a membership card with an NFC chip is easier than a system that requires you to swipe a membership card and hope it works to gain entry into changing rooms and gym. If not you have to remember a number to enter, and a second number for the cycle room (I usually forget and end up having to ask someone). NFC also means a smartphone wallet would work so I don’t need a card and have to carry it around with me.
Negative experience: Pool needs to be open more.
Negative experience: Overpriced. Inflexible, unhelpful staff. Rigid rules. Visitors treated like a lower species, disallowed access to the gym change rooms or toilets but instead herded to the swimming pool change room/toilets. Gym is small, overcrowded, has barely any equipment, access to the studio is not permitted. A terrible experience.
Fantastic experience: Great pool, helpful staff
Fantastic experience: It is a nicely presented and clean gym with an enjoyable zumba class
Negative experience: Great pool for kids but can be fairly busy especially on weekends. Our last visit was a bit of a disappointment as the pool temperature was slightly colder than it should be.
Fantastic experience: Staff really friendly. Great place to swim.
