The Time Capsule in Coatbridge, United Kingdom, is a well-loved leisure destination offering a plethora of activities for families and individuals alike. It features:
- Amazing swimming facilities – including a large pool, fun slides, and various water features that kids adore.
- Ice rink – perfect for a fun skating experience, making it a versatile venue.
- Friendly and attentive staff – many visitors noted the helpfulness and vigilance of lifeguards.
- Great value for money – affordable ticket prices, especially considering the range of activities available.

While users have enjoyed the experience, some downsides have been noted:
- General maintenance and cleanliness of facilities could be improved; several users reported issues with dirty changing rooms and broken water features.
- Occasional problems with operational attractions, such as the wave machine and some slides being out of order.
- The venue is showing signs of age, indicating a need for renovation to enhance the overall experience.

The Time Capsule: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Loved it here! Amazing swimming pool and ice rink, was a very pleasant surprise to find. Super friendly staff, would highly recommend the little cafe inside above the pool.
Positive experience: One of the few remaining proper water parks in Scotland and NL Leisure should be commended for maintaining it. Yes. Something is usually broken and it's not how it used to be but it's a great place with good facilities and fun stuff to do that can't be found this side of center parcs. And that's a lot more expensive
Positive experience: Kids love a wee swim and it's not too bad on the price.
Fantastic experience: Perfect swimming pool. Great for kids!
Positive experience: Payment machines were down had to cash transactions
Fantastic experience: Brilliant place best park for miles we travel 40 mins each time just to come here
Positive experience: Busy busy. Alot of showers don't work when leaving pool. Not many showers full stop.
Fantastic experience: Practically live here, with training every single day and games.. the staff are amazing and friendly.. Place is very clean.. great place
Negative experience: Place itself is not bad considering how old it is, but the staff working there and million and one rule, complete disaster, one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Felt like a military camp, instead of family leisure venue. Staf pacing up and down in their six feet like prison guards, trying to find anything to scream and try to exercise their "authority", while constantly keeping face expression of someone on death row. I would give -10 stars if possible.
Negative experience: Was open but pool was closed, such a disappointment to my kids. Staff at entry were indifferent and could not of cared less. Such a huge disappointment overall. What a poor advertisement for Glasgow
Fantastic experience: Excellent morning at time capsule. One of the flumes not working currently but still fun with the waves, smaller flumes and inflatable flume.
Positive experience: The time capsule is one off thee best places in Ayrshire for swimming, sauna etc.. Would be 5 star however the place is needing a face-lift, as well as v little for children to do.
Fantastic experience: Great entertainment and not just for children,as an adult I truly enjoyed the experience in the swimming. Between the wave machine, circular rapids that take you round a whirlwind in water. All in all great family entertainment ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Fantastic experience: Great skating. Car park available.
Positive experience: One of the chutes was not working and the waves weren't on but still good fun. The kids loves it. Starting to show it's age now, perhaps in need of a deep clean and some moneybspent improving it but good fun still
Negative experience: I had not visited in 25 years and nothing much has changed. Investment is much needed to modernise this iconic Scottish landmark. Wave machine and 1/3 fumes not working.
Fantastic experience: Had a great time with my great niece, she thoroughly enjoyed the swimming and slides and so did 1.
Positive experience: Great place for toddlers can take him on the little chutes and the bigger chutes on the "swim around" there is also a warm pool for the toddlers that is parent and child only. Then there is the main pool, the bucket area with water guns and the river rapids that goes in a circle. The only downside is that the wave machine is broken which is a shame.
Positive experience: Used to love this place years ago but the place needs a major revamp now. Wave machine not working when we went and one of the flumes was out.
Negative experience: The online payment system charges fees when you pay so the cost it advertises is not the full cost. The place is run down and looks the same as it did 15+ years ago. One of the 3 flumes off, wave machine not on, and large water bucket off. Things must be a lot worse in Scotland if this dump can say it’s the countries water park when it has a total of 3 flumes that can’t even have all on. Thank god I had the magnum in Irvine growing up.
Fantastic experience: Excellent family water park fun. Worth persevering with the online booking system for. Entry was very efficient during busy school holiday time.
Negative experience: Water is contaminated, workers just look about and fidget with their hands not paying attention. One of my friends got threadworms from the water, couldn’t get a hold of reception they wouldn’t awnser they’re phone and the app wasn’t working either, took me 20 mins to get through ended up going in a lot later due to them not answering the phone apart from that pool was fun
Fantastic experience: Excellent place although the wave machine and purple slide were closed the kids still had a great time
Positive experience: The water is cold and is very cold when you get out from the pool
Negative experience: Really grim when you look around and pay attention to the details. One of the two main slides were closed. We still had fun but probably won’t go back to be honest.
Positive experience: Nice water park to spend with kids, abit dirty floor on the changing area, toilets aren’t cleanest too but otherwise it’s ok
Fantastic experience: Plenty to do for the whole family, today we visited the leisure pool, lots to enjoy and is well equipped for all ages and swimming levels.
Positive experience: Kids loved slides. It was well staffed, so it felt safe. Is it perfect? no, one of the slides is closed, and the wave machine was broken, but everything else was fun. There is plenty to do in the 90-minute session.
Negative experience: Well where to start... gym staff have watched to much love island and are just as fake and egotistical. I love myself who do you love mentality. Complain at the slightest thing such as skipping in an empty gym hall, using punching bag and utilizing space within the gym. The gym is severely crammed and has very low ceilings meaning restrictions to work outs depending on exercises. Adding to the disappointment, a variety of classes are held within the gym area therefore adding further crammed conditions. As witnessed, personal training sessions seem to be more of social gathering rather than working with their client(s) to achive their goals. I have a staff discount, therefore membership cost £15. However, I would definitely not be paying the asking price of £35 a membership. Disappointing for value per money.
Positive experience: A little bit dated, but a good experience especially for the kids
Positive experience: Took my son there he loved it
Fantastic experience: It's a lovely place, We were there several times already but I didn't noticed anything I do not like, my kids are love it as well.
Fantastic experience: Great place and very friendly staff...
Positive experience: The place a has gone down hill. Not well maintained. One of the big slides is shut. The wave maker wasn't functioning when we were there as well as a lot of the water play park stuff including the big dumper bucket.
Negative experience: It needs renovated it’s quite old now and needs a new touch to it. Overall it’s alright for a family day out but the place is kinda not that hygienic there should definitely be an upgrade to this place.
Positive experience: Getting a bit tired but still the best for miles offers a great value water experience for all grades. But in advance nl leisure create your account choose your time job done plenty of parking onsite parking ice rink gym sports hall.
Fantastic experience: Massive pool for kids and adults, I'd recommend going to the baby pool if u have small children at the end as the pool was a bit cold and could cause a chill going from one to the other buy it was nice and warm in baby side, plenty swim areas and a massive kids area, more than enough staff going about and there always cleaning the cubicles down and making sure there sanitized which I ain't seen anywhere I've been so that's a big bonus, free parking aswell which is brill. I use to go here skating when I was younger and loved it
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool, loads of fun, not too busy and hardly any wait time on slides. We actually got to go around a few times in a row on the inflatable ring slide as there was no queue for a good while. Definitely recommend buying tickets ahead of time as people were being turned away at the door as it was full. Tickets are also really good value.
Negative experience: Wave pool not working 1 out of 3 Flume not working over 2yrs Bucket not in function since 2019 Play area broken hoses and faulty Pool areas grime and black mould visible Staff uninterested and rude Toilets were smelly This pool should be closed down for repair and renovations. Would not recommend won’t be back Only gave 1star to be able to post review!
Negative experience: None of the facilities work and still charge full price! Falkirk pool is much better value, as it’s so much cheaper and all the facilities work all the time… even though it’s a bit dated.
Negative experience: The website says it’s open, the google says it’s open. When I get there, the staff says it’s closed. They lying that the website says it’s closed. When I shower the website, they changed their statement. The staff were very rude. I wouldn’t recommend going there
Positive experience: Visited here during the last few days of the school holidays. We paid £22 entry (for 2 adults and 2 children - one child was 7 and the other 4). We thoroughly enjoyed our day. I'd highly recommend if you are going during school holidays or weekend you book online as it was very busy. Now you need to appreciate this is a council pool so don't expect a 5 star water park in Dubai. It does need a lick of paint in some areas and a bit of tlc. We went and everything except the yellow flume was open - take this in mind if you want to go on the purple flume which shares the same stairwell as the yellow flume, everyone was in the queue for one flume (not two) so we stood for nearly half an hour. Lots of staff/lifeguards on duty so you are watched and looked after. No problem there at all. Yes we would go back.
Positive experience: Good family fun even if it is showing its age. Be aware the flumes are only for kids over 120cm though.
Positive experience: Good place to take kids, but needs updating and some flumes not working...
Negative experience: Very dirty and most things broken. Only slide my child was big enough to go on hasnt worked for 2 years apparently,
Negative experience: Kids enjoy it, but every time we go something else is broken. Don't remember the last time the wave machine worked. A flume is usually down and the huge big dump bucket, that the kids love now doesn't work. Slowly but surely going down hill.
Negative experience: Place is falling apart and now you have to wait outside until it’s your time to go in. Before they used to let you go in and get changed now you have to st outside and wait so costing you at least 20 minutes of your time. Robbing the life out of you and place is stinking
Positive experience: Nice place to take the kids but is tired and show it’s age.
Negative experience: Flumes out for over a year, waves are out and the tipping buckets were out but the kids still wanted to go. Went with a party of 7. Waited 20 mins outside to be let inside. Booked the first morning slot at 10am and once in the water for around 10 mins there was a power cut. I understand these things happen. We couldn’t shower to get the chlorine off and we had to get dressed in the dark which was difficult with the upset kids. Expected more than just a refund but we were flatly told no by Martin one of the duty managers. Never again.
Positive experience: I took my daughter and she loved it, had to wait for slides but only took a few minutes. Would recommend a morning visit
Negative experience: We drive from kinloss to the time capsule, to get told it was closed. Nothing on email or phone calls and nothing on website to stay it was closed and this happened at 5pm on the 31st July . We was at 1pm on 1 August. Shocking front door staff and very rude to say the least. Very very unprofessional from all
Positive experience: Grandkids love the pool would return to go back to pool xx as for the food upstairs in cafe was rotten wouldn't eat there again
Negative experience: 2 hour drive to find out the pool had been closed from the day before. They alled 10 minutes before booking to say it had been closed when we were already outside. Won't be attempting to go back.
Negative experience: Turned up from Fife to be told the activity pool is closed for maintenance yet nothing on the website!
Negative experience: We drove 45 minutes from Glasgow and spent £50 for petrol to get there and we didn’t get a single email about the water park shutting down this is very unprofessional and we should have gotten a email about this
Positive experience: My son likes it here although I'm not sure how expensive it is compared to other pools.
Fantastic experience: Visited twice while on holiday in Scotland. Fantastic swimming pool for kids, even at full capacity doesn’t feel crowded, loads for the kids to interact with, even for different ages. Easily spend the full 90 minutes of allocated time in the pool and not get bored. Staff really friendly and plenty of lifeguards that are vigilant too! What a great facility for locals and holiday makers alike! Do book in advance in holidays though as does get fully booked ! Good value for money though
Positive experience: Holidaying in scotland travelled here twice in the week. Hadn't been in over 20 years dated building changing room floors a bit dirty. However pool clean and warm. Worth a visit especially if a cold day.
Positive experience: Love the waterpark it was so fun and 4 people slides were very good and fun but however it was dirty and there was gum on the staris and the bucket wasn't working the waves but it was a good waterpark
Negative experience: Not one to normally write reviews but today was a complete change from normal at this place I bring my son here and normally it is pretty good but today my opinion has changed, place was very dirty, pool was cold, walls at the pool were manky, and the chlorine my god!! at times we couldn't catch our breath because it was SO strong. We left and both our eyes are in agony our skin is so dry, my son had to go sit down at one point cause felt he couldn't breath or see.. really don't think will be back now needs a good revamp that's for sure.
Positive experience: I liked how clean the environment was, the toilets also but disappointed because some of the activities were off.
Fantastic experience: Visited the time capsule today with my family what a lovely place nice clean spacious with lovely staff has loads to do for the kids water slides lots of fun for all not just the kids while we were visiting a little girl for into a wee bit of difficulty in the water the life guards were all there in seconds they were amazing made sure the little girl was okay if we lived closer defo a place we would visit much more often wave machine was not on today wasn't a biggie we had so much fun will defo be visiting again
Positive experience: Overall we had fun. Buy the place is run down. And toilets could be cleaner.
Positive experience: This is a great swimming pool for kids. My 3 year old loved it. You get 90 mins for cheaper than 60 mins in my own locality. There's plenty of staff keeping kids safe. Lots of fun to be had. It's a little dated now but still does the job. Some things don't work like the water guns.
Positive experience: Pool areas and small pool toliet does need redone and cleaned up
Fantastic experience: Our first visit here with our grandsons. What an absolutely fantastic experience!
Negative experience: Yes we had fun..yes some of the atractions there are ok nfun! But god almighty this place is so dirty and just bad maintenanced!Rust, mould, bits and bobs in the water…queuing and timing system from victorian era plus some staff should not work there!!!they moody attituded and just extremaly sad!! Go n change your job as that one is defo not for yous! Overall experience not so rosy! Place need a redo from scratch…has potential but 70,80s standards not so great in 2024
Positive experience: Kids enjoyed it they were Seven and eight. The addition of Steam Room and Saunas and jaccuzi and cold dip might add to the experience for adults, looks like plenty of room to squeeze some in.
Positive experience: Our kids loved the swimming pool. There are loads of slides and stuff to keep them busy. The place could do with a bit of a refurbishment but overall we felt it was good value. Special mention for the life guards who are friendly and very thorough in keeping an eye on the kids.
Fantastic experience: This is a great water park for ur family ti go to with the wave pools.lazy river.water slides and the baby slides go check it out u will have a blast! .
Positive experience: Great place. Plenty to do. Everyone loved wave machine and slides. Husband and older son loved the rubber ring flume.could do with a lick of paint and a scrub. Staff super helpful and very easy to book.
Negative experience: I personally thought the cleanliness or lack of it was very low standards . It looks like the place could do with a good scrub or better yet refurbishing .We were the first ones in and was shocked to see the changing rooms so dirty , thick sticky residue on the walls which clearly hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. It did not make me want to return anytime soon. Only good thing is that my daughter enjoyed herself so gave it two stars.
Fantastic experience: Excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend .You must book online first. No walk ins.
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted the pool was unclean dirt papers and loads of stones in pool pointed it out to workers who said they already new about it ! Shower area was just as bad
Positive experience: It was great to visit when things are up and running. My kid loved the whirlpool and the heated palm tree pool. It was the most I’ve seen him enjoy it so I hope management can keep things fully operational. There’s room for improvement though, as it feels like there’s a lot of potential here that’s not being used. The toilets feel outdated and could do with a refurbishment and the pool behind the blue slides could be made better use of. Fun session though so would recommend if you’re looking for a trip to a pool.
Positive experience: It's clean, reasonable priced, you get a good amount of time in the water. The showers are hot and the kids always love it and want to go back. One of the flumes is constantly broken and the big bucket hasn't worked for a long time. The facility is a bit tired and the needs minor repairs but plenty of fun, clean and hot water.
Negative experience: Baltic. It said on the display "the temperature of water is 30", I assume it meant 30 penguins feeling comfortable in the icy water. Out of water was even colder.
Negative experience: Pool area was dirty and mouldy railings all rusted. Pool was freezing the jacuzzi was pumping out cold water. Slides only open one at a time for 20mins. Changing rooms dirty. Only half the showers worked. River rapids broken. All in all really dissapointing and probs wont return. Its so run down and dirty.
Fantastic experience: I haven't visited this place, however I heard that this is a great place for kids and for a fun filled day out. I am planning to visit this place this summer.
Negative experience: Place is really run down. Only one flume working, quite dirty everywhere. A lot of stuff just not working. I was quite disappointed, luckily my boy still had a great time.
Positive experience: This is my personal opinion. The time capsule water park was great fun. However it did feel a bit crowded. The 'Tsunami' is good but I feel it could be a bit dangerous for smaller children. I'd say the rapids were very dangerous for smaller children. I think it would be an advantage to the business if they had sessions exclusively for less able swimmers with the waves and water pressure turned down. I also noticed some hand and guard rails with large gaps at the bottom on some walkways and around the heated jacuzzi type pool Our grandkids did have a good time but we had to monitor the youngest one, constantly shadowing her every move. The flume that was open is maybe the best I've experienced in Scotland. Really worth the climb and wait.
Positive experience: Overall, the timecapsule is a good venue but definitely in need of some upgrade work. The ice rink is really small but does the job. Swimming pool is good but can get really busy.
Negative experience: So I brought my kids to the time capsule and they loved it but when I wanted to use their gym while they went swimming I was told I had to be a member and have a gym induction I am not a newbie when it comes to the gym and feel I can handle many different machines, the fact that this lesuire centre is the only one that tells me I need to be a member an have an induction for me to use is not right when you can go into in any gym in Scotland and use them. I find this utterly useless considering I have paid to use the swimming and can’t swim but you will allow me to book and pay for children to go into the swimming and as far as u know could have never had a swimming lesson in their life. So disappointed in this
Positive experience: Swimming is decent but needs some investment. Broken banisters, tiling and infrastructure do not look good when you're there and in some places is not safe. We've been going for almost 2 years and in the whole time they've never had both flumes going.
Positive experience: Always fun to go, you'll have to buy tickets in advance now, but this takes the stress out of queueing, so that's fine. One of the flumes is still closed and the big water slide no longer has inflatables for 4 people, so only 2 can go at a time. Last time the water also felt very cold compared to previous visits apart from the waterfall coming from the kiddie pool. I hope they'll fix that...
Positive experience: Kids absolutely love it. It was a shame the yellow flume was out of order, and the doughnut ride lasted seconds when you queue for a good 5 to 10 minute's but the kids enjoyed it, which is the main objective. Get the yellow flume fixed, and perhaps our queuing time reduces as there will be another ride to queue.
Negative experience: Very disappointing... Way too cold. One of the Flumes was closed, the only one my 4 year daughter could go on (why not state it's closed online when booking) also the big bucket that tips in the kids area wasn't working so my daughter wasn't happy about that either. Just overall disappointing considering what we've paid and the hype of Scotland waterpark.
Positive experience: Took the kids for a swim last week, gets a bit of criticism by the locals for not being what it used to be, but the kids loved it just like I did years ago, especially the lazy river. All leisure centres need a bit of a revamp, which I get, needs continual investment, as it's still a big draw in the local and wider area.
Positive experience: Really efficient process for getting in as we pre-booked. Great activities for different age groups, including a nice cosy pool for the really little ones. One of the flumes was out of action which made the wait feel glacial for the kids.
Fantastic experience: Our trip to the Time Capsule swimming pool was a delightful experience for both myself and my daughter. She thoroughly enjoyed herself, immersing in the fun atmosphere. However, it's worth noting that some areas, particularly the kids' zone, require attention. The water features like the bucket and water jets weren't functioning properly, which was a bit disappointing. Despite this, the overall experience was positive, and we're looking forward to returning after the renovations are completed.
Fantastic experience: Still a great place. Not too busy during the week. Had an hour in ice skating before swimming but it has to be prebooked as they arent highly staffed on weekdays and flumes open in a rotation basis. But still best swimming in Scotland imo
Negative experience: Slides and pools all really good apart from the customer service booked a slot but couldn't make it tried calling 25 time to rebook with no answer
Negative experience: It's the best in Scotland but prepare to spend more than half your time standing in a queue due to one of the two slides being out of order. On a school holiday expect to wait up to 25 minutes to go down the slide. This has been out of operation for about a year and I don't think there can be any excuses
Negative experience: Pool is grubby. Needs a really good clean and tidy up. Some fresh rides would be nice. Don't think it's ever changed?
Negative experience: Time capsule is absolutely garbage to go to now. Everything is broken in the place and has been for years. Typical north Lanarkshire they replace nothing but expect people to pay the same money. I used to love taking my kids to this place it was amazing! Not anymore
Fantastic experience: Great place, I remember it as a child and now take my kids there. They love it, flumes, rapids and lazy river
Positive experience: Time capsule session are 90min only. Ticket Price is affordable. It's great fun in water my kids always enjoy the time capsule, yellow flume is under maintenance for a long time, so only red is working. Facilities are wonderful enough changing room and lockers, open shower and toilets. Facilities for disable is good. Disable toilets are with shower in it. Cafe is nice and clean and huge. Cafe price is higher then others. Plenty free parking out side. To enter in time capsule has to wait in queue. Over all great day out experience.
Fantastic experience: Not a problem with going in, this time there wasn't a queue in front (as normally there is, since this is such a popular place to go). Advisable to book tickets in advance, it's very easy to do, you can book a slot you prefer and have a peace of mind that you will definitely go in.
Fantastic experience: I recently hosted a birthday celebration at Time Capsule Water Park, and it turned out to be an absolute hit! The idea was met with enthusiasm by all attendees, and it's safe to say that everyone had a fantastic time. One of the standout features of this experience was the incredible support we received from the staff. From the moment we made our bulk booking for 50 people, they were there every step of the way, helping us understand, organize, and arrange everything for the birthday festivities. The kids had an absolute blast, but what really impressed me was how much fun the adults had too. It truly was an experience that catered to all age groups, making it the perfect choice for a family celebration. I also want to give a special shoutout to Suzan, who went above and beyond to ensure that our after-water park party snacks were a hit. The food was delicious, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, especially after a day of excitement and activity. Suzan even provided us with a dedicated cafeteria for cake cutting and serving snacks, giving us the feeling of having our own private party cafe. Overall, Time Capsule Water Park exceeded our expectations in every way. From the fantastic staff to the delicious food options, it was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to host a memorable celebration.
Fantastic experience: Never been before and it was so fun! Big slides are great! Much easier to get to than Olimpia in Dundee
