Positive experience: First time here, what a lovely place had some treatments which did not disappoint and the ladies were lovely! Sadly the staff on reception/cafe let it down, ignorant and rude and away with the fairies, sadly it was all the reception staff and not just one. Paid for towels which had some stains on once you get past reception it’s fantastic!

Negative experience: Ok spa the relaxation room was really relaxing I had a back neck and scalp massage and I’m 99% sure the girl was on her phone as most of it was done with one hand and could hear tapping on a screen and at times she seemed to forget she was massaging me wouldn’t recommend this place for a spa day

Negative experience: Overall the gym isn’t bad just dated, however management refuse to cancel memberships under their own clauses in the terms and conditions before making up policies which aren’t published.

Negative experience: Cream tea was literally one scone with jam, not even any cream. Had to pay for towels after paying £150 for a spa day. Treatment forms were complete weeks out and had not been read and was told one the day due to allergies we couldn't have the treatment requested, but no one called to ask about this prior leaving us on the spot in the treatment room.

Negative experience: Went for a spa treatment with the wife. The s taff were friendly . However the treatment itself . Lasted less than the time stated. So for example you pay for a 45min treatment . However they take 5 mins to start and the treatment only lasts 35mins . So you only really have a short period of time. Tbh a bit cheeky and you don't get what you paid for

Negative experience: Went with my sister on a voucher for 1 treatment each, full access, and a cream tea. We took our own robes etc because we didn't want to pay the extra. Welcoming was very friendly and we waited in the relaxation room for our treatment which was lovely. We had the elemis pro glow facial and it was great, my skin felt amazing afterwards. Once the treatments were done we headed to the pool and rotated between the jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna for about an hour. We then went to have our cream tea. It was awkward going out in our robes because it's in the entrance and was very very leisure centre like. When we arrived we hadn't seen it and she called it a cafe bar but it was genuinely a horrible place to sit, particularly in our robes. Ordered our cream tea (no Starbucks coffee included, just a regular machine one). Got to the table and we were then told there were no scones. We were offered one of the cakes on display. There wasn't a lot of choice and they didn't particularly look appetising. We then went back to get changed and we visited the spa shop to buy some products bevause our voucher gave us 20% off. However there was already a 20% off sale so that was null and void. Apparently "today only" but I'd confidently say if I went back tomorrow that sale would still be on. After the treatment we'd also gotten a little slip saying 10% your next treatment if you book today, and £10 voucher if you spend more than £40. There were no prices on anything so we kept having to ask, we picked up a couple of gift set things but they were apparently a free gift. I had been umming and ahhing about whether to buy any but I was quite keen on the free gift so I decided to go for it and spend enough. My purchase seemed eligible for 2 free gifts and I had assumed I would at least get to pick one. However apparently because there's 20% off you don't get a free gift. The lady at the till said it was better value with the 20% off but she'd also told me how much I saved and it was less than the value of either one of the free gifts. I was annoyed but didn't quibble as I really liked the products they used during the facial. I also didn't get a voucher despite spending over £40. Overall it was very disappointing. The treatment itself was beyond 5 stars that was great. And the one member of staff who greeted us and also did my facial was amazing. The relaxation room was also lovely. However the rest was very lackluster and the cafe was really awful. We won't go back.

Fantastic experience: We had a brilliant experience from start to finish. We were greeted and shown around. We used the pool and spa facilities before I had a full Swedish body massage which was amazing. Running an offer all summer £79 for 2 people with 50 minutes treatment and absolute steal.

Negative experience: Most definitely NOT a luxury spa! It felt very much like a leisure centre upon arrival. We were charged £10 each to hire a bag containing stained tatty towelling gowns and towels, which included a pair of flip flops, albeit that we were able to keep the bag and flip flops. My first treatment was a facial, and whilst very enjoyable, the room was so dimly lit, there was no way the therapist could analyse my skin. The second treatment was a full body massage, and was very good. The facilities were definitely not relaxing, the pool area reminded me of a public swimming baths, there were classes taking place, music booming and everyone not taking part filled the poolside jacuzzi, the sauna and steam room were also situated at the side of the pool, so no escape from the noise. This should not be sold as a luxury spa day, it's very far from it, and not somewhere I'll be booking again.

Positive experience: Just had a spa day with my daughter, treatments were very good, lunch could have been a little more exciting. Why I couldn't give the five star, the changing rooms were freezing cold, the only warm area was treatment room and relaxation room, we had to go and put jumpers on to go for our lunch, I noticed others were sitting in coats. Put you Heating on!

Fantastic experience: A lovely time was had here: a spa day gift from my daughter for Mother's Day. I'm seriously thinking of joining, I was so impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the facilities on offer, the cafe, offering reasonably priced food and drink and the variety of exercise classes. Parking was a breeze, which, in this day and age, is a relief. The only draw-back is the price, especially for a pensioner like me.

Positive experience: Went for a spa experience day today. It was sadly spoilt by the fact the robes were not big enough, so had to change back into clothes for lunch and the afternoon activities. The fact only one person was in a robe at lunch spoke volumes. The towel was tiny too. Spending the day in a big fluffy robe is part of a spa experience so very disappointed and certainly not worth the money to hire them. The pool had two fitness classes too which impacted ability to swim. Had to negotiate an alternative for lunch as they had run out of one of the three options available and the drinking station in the relaxation room was broken. Three stars given as the jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, water beds, heated loungers and massage were lovely. Just a shame that it didn’t feel like the pampering experience we had hoped for.

Fantastic experience: I went to Bannatyne for a spa day for the first time last December, and ever since, I tried to go every couple of months. The facilities are amazing, well maintained and very clean. The staff are so friendly and efficient. I had treatments too and the girls are so knowledgeable, professional and good at what they do. There's also a cafe on site which offers freshly made food, coffee and smoothies. All in all I would recommend Bannatyne to anyone. I can't wait to go again!

Fantastic experience: Visited the spa with the wife and had the pleasure of having treatments from Rebecca and Hailey. Honestly fantastic treatments, felt like I was in a caccoon of happiness by the end. Chain's quality can have significant variance based on the location and staff. But this was a better example of bannatyne's.

Positive experience: Enjoyed the swimming pool and the sauna, steam room was out of action unfortunately. Couldn't get in the jacuzzi as it was full. Changing rooms and showers clean and not crowded. Good coffee and cake, big car park plenty of space.

Negative experience: Visited yesterday to be greeted by a young girl. Even though we saw on the website that you had to pay a deposit to borrow a towel and a gown we weren't aware that you also had to pay for these. These bags contained a robe, a towel and flip flops. The girl gave us the impression that we would be getting £20 of the £30 back. All day we thought about what we were paying for, and still now we dont know. This really spoilt the whole experience. People were and did take their own so strongly suggest you do this instead of being robbed blind! Despite this, we had a lovely day, it doesnt state on the website what time you can arrive but you can actually arrive from opening to close, there is a jacuzzi, on the website its called a spa pool. Theres a steam room in and a sauna. The treatments we had were lovely , lava shells. We were both in the same room to have our treatments. Again, on the website there wasnt mention of this. The relaxation room was lovely, there were three water beds and they were soo comfortable and relaxing. After this, we went to the onsite starbucks, a latte and a decaf oat milk late. With it being a starbucks you’d think that this wouldnt of been an issue, and especially with it being a spa for relaxing and rejuvenating you'd think a decaf would have been a common thing there. The young man working the “starbucks” fobbed us off making some story up. All in all this is a mixed review, enjoyed the facilities and the treatments, not at all impressed with the hire bag and the coffee. Im now left with a bag that I have no use for and some flip flops that are too small for me at the price of £10.

Negative experience: Make sure you read all the small print or you might think you're getting something you're not. Eg you will be charged to use the towel when you book a spar day or you book a massage, you only get a light massage more like a rub down than a massage and no access to any facilities other than the massage room.

Negative experience: Not the spa experience I’d imagined. Strange walking around in a robe when other people are going to the gym. Towels were tiny considering the charge for them. Robes were stained. Changing room was cold. The massage was good and the relaxing room was nice. Wouldn’t return for a spa day. But would go back to use the gym.

Negative experience: Decided to sign up for a months membership on a whim while I was waiting for my car to charge in the gym car park. Got lots of attention while being sold the membership, probably 15 minutes one-to-one, but once signed up less so. My first visit to the gym was to use the pool. When I got there I was told I only had 20 minutes because the pool would be taken up by an aqua aerobics session which would be starting soon - turned out to be more like 10 minutes because people for the session started arriving early. Second visit to the gym was to have an individual SmartPath session. I booked the first available session and I had to take half day leave from work in order to be able to attend. I turned up on time, got changed, and went to the front desk to ask where I should go. The guy tapped on his tablet and told me to go upstairs to the gym where the fitness guy would be waiting in the office. I went up to the gym and the office was empty. I stood around for a bit and then asked someone if they knew where the staff were. He pointed me to the office. After loitering awkwardly for a further 10 minutes with no sign of the person I was supposed to be meeting or any other staff member I decided to give up. Complete waste of time and money. The only benefit to the visit was overhearing a conversation between two guys in the changing room talking about how they had to use the gym in the morning because it was crazy busy in the evening and difficult to get on the machines etc. I was considering signing up for a full membership through a GymFlex work scheme but this and my experience of the gym up to this point changed my mind. I ended up handing in my membership wristband on the way out.

Negative experience: Booked a wowcher package for myself and my sister for my 21st and wish i never bothered. We had rung up a few days prior to double check if we needed to book a time slot and was told by what sounded like a young girl that we could walk in whenever we like as long as it’s on the day we had booked. As we got there, the staff at reception made us feel like a nuisance, the young girl on the till didn’t have a clue what she was doing and had absolutely 0 communication/customer service skills, when she brought her manager to figure out the issue with our wowcher booking, the manager, very patronisingly, told us we had to book and made us out to be the problem even though this was a problem on their end as we had double checked with them prior! throughout the day we found the manager very rude, any questions we had were answered with a stiff ‘No.’, very unwelcoming, we’re walking on eggshells all day. They managed to book us in but our treatments ended up being 3 hours apart and we had arranged them to be together, we also were meant to have a bottle of champagne which we never received. The only good thing to come out of this experience was massages and facials by the lovely masseuse’s (only critic of this was they were meant to be an hour long and my sisters was cut short to 40 minutes including getting undressed and the consultation!!). Overall don’t waste your money, much better places to go in the area.

Negative experience: More leisure center than spa and very expensive for what you get. Booked a spa day for our anniversary and when we got there we then had to pay for a bag with filthy tiny robes and large flip flops (£8 per bag plus £10 deposit). Was supposed to have 55 minutes of treatment each but certainly didn't get that long. Had a shower in the treatment room as I'd been exfoliated but there were no soaps so I walked around still greasy. My partner felt like he'd been beaten after the treatment as the therapist was far too rough, my therapist said I could have belly and chest area exfoliated (thinking a towel over the breast) but then she proceeded to exfoliate my actual breasts which shocked me.

Positive experience: Lovely massage and facial, but didn't get introduced to the 2 staff doing our treatments, it appeared to be 1 person doing both of us at first but then another secret mystery person who hid in the darkness and didn't speak at all, very strange. Had to pay additional £8 each for small towel and robe hire, one of which was grubby and covered in makeup, even the replacement was grubby.

Positive experience: Booked a spa day directly rather than through 3rd party to avoid faff of booking vouchers in. I tend to take my own towels and footwear to places like this. (I saw signs of extra charges for items, the robes hung up didn't look clean.) The pool was cold, the sauna as expected, the steam room could do with some fragrance as it stunk in there. The jacuzzi was huge which sat about 6ppl but it was always full. The three star are definitely for the below. We had booked treatments and were asked to come to the relaxation room shortly before our slots. It was great in there, If only we had discovered it sooner and we would have spent more time there. There was hot beds (warm), water beds and relaxing music playing. We highly recommend the treatments, between us we had a facial, full back massages. The therapists were lovely too

Positive experience: Booked direct for a spa day for 2, which you would assume would be a better deal, but not go through woucher.. the online booking system gives you 5 mins to complete and you can lose your spa times if you are not quick enough.. paid £8 for a spa bag, the dressing gown was yellow and had holes in it (this was refunded).. make sure you tell the person doing your treatment you'd like no talking during your treatment otherwise you could end up with a full life story..

Negative experience: what an awful spa day. Paid for gown hire, and mine smelt of fake tan it was even yellow around the neckline, my daughters was so small it wouldn’t wrap around her she’s a size14, they were so rough, took both back to reception who said they had no more left as was busy and they only come in 1 size. The ones hanging up were for show only!! The swimming pool was packed and had screaming kids jumping in it, also no room in the spa pool either, nor in the steam room or sauna. I paid £110 for 2 people with treatments. What a waste of money. we only stayed 2 hours. never to return

Negative experience: Visited after using a groupon for an experience day. We travelled around an hour to come. Upon getting there we were told it was an £8 charge for a robe or £3.50 for just the towel with £10 deposit also . We didn’t realise this was the case , as it didn’t state on our emails etc that it was it just said some venues may charge for the towels / spa bag. But doesn’t say which venues . We had received an email check in a few days before to do , and it wasn’t stated on this either . We were told that we should have received a courtesy call the day before to explain all this , which we did not and then they acknowledged they hadn’t . They then said it actually was £8 for a spa bag where you had more things included and then had to still pay a £10 deposit . This just wasn’t made clear, they then tried to blame groupon saying it was because it was booked third party we didn’t get all the information. Eventually we were given a towel ( we paid £10 deposit) but the towels were filthy , and we could see the robes hanging up were aswell . Changing rooms were also really dirty and it was packed considering it was a weekday . We had our treatments straight away which were very very good and redeemed the day really . Then we went to the pool and the music was deafening from the water aerobics they run , pool very very cold , so just went in the jacuzzi for a bit . Then our package included sparkling cream tea so we did this but the eating area is right at the front outside the spa so you felt like you had to get changed to come out doesn’t feel any point going back in then . The cream tea is literally just a choice of coffee or a Prosecco and microwaved scone with whipped cream . Wasn’t really that nice . We got there at 1030 left by 1230 wasn’t a ‘day’ at all really . Wouldn’t return or recommend just seemed a lot of hidden charges and wasn’t clean , staff were mainly very unfriendly with poor customer service .

Negative experience: DO NOT waste your money! You have to pay for flip flops, a child size towel for an adult, a tatty old dressing gown, the eatery is right by the front entrance of the leisure/spa facility ( whilst you’re there sat in your gown) hard loungers that aren’t cushioned ….a truly disappointing day, the issue is a leisure centre trying to be a spa also. The treatments on their own were lovely! A whole day there…..no ….will there any chance of returning ….most definitely a NO!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Had a good massage. I said don't be gentle and she wasn't. Got all the knots out of shoulder blades. My girlfriend also felt better for her massage. We also enjoyed the relaxing room. Jacuzzi. I enjoyed using the swimming pool sauna and steam room. Well worth a visit to relax and get a decent massage.

Fantastic experience: Had a Wowcher Spa. Very good massage and spa access followed by a sparkling cream tea which was a disappointment. Squirty cream not real cream. I have never had this before surely they're not cutting costs to this extent. Having said that I would definitely go back for treatments and massage.

Negative experience: They have awful customer service and their website is not clear about their services being non refundable. Their website is also really hard to operate and changed a date of a service at checkout. Would not recommend as I wouldn't have booked here if I would have known how awful their customer service.

Negative experience: Arrived to a nice welcome from the reception staff, then they hit us with the £8 each for use of a towel, Robe, and a logo'd bag and flip flops, bag &flip flops can keep. This wouldn't of been so bad if the flip flops fit, i mean having a size selection s,m,l,xl wouldnt of gone a miss, instead i felt like i was walking in half a flip flop, also the bags aren't going to last a week if they was used. Waste of £8. The changing facilities where great, showers and toilets clean, pool area is abit grubby. The relaxation room was lovely, the treatments and spa staff excellent. Unfortunately the last experience we had wasn't great as the 2nd receptionist was extremely rude to my partner, bull dog chewing a wasp comes to mind, a vast contrast to the one we arrived to. Really bad attitude, snappy, not helpful and giving dirty looks. Overall i wouldn't return as it wasn't the full relaxation we was after. Kind regards Jez

Positive experience: Great facilities, staff were super professional and friendly and made sure each part of the spa treatments were perfect. Lovely relaxation room to use whilst waiting, with heated beds. Robes £4 each to hire and changing room facilities were fab. Very clean. Pool was pretty basic but still clean and sizeable. Overall, Slightly pricey but the massage was amazing. Lots of attention to detail.

Negative experience: Never answer the phones. Was trying to phone to see if I could rearrange an appointment. No answer. Finally got through and said it was 48 hour policy - would not rearrange and I lost the money. Won’t be coming back here for treatments

Positive experience: Went there 21/06 first time. Polite staff and clean place. Had a small treatment cost me 40 quid all in all. Other users polite and helped me work out how to use the locker. Membership is high I would recommend if can afford it I could but unlikely to get use out of it to make it worth it. May try a different spa in future for variety.

Negative experience: Appalling customer service from this club!! Bannatyne gyms do not care about their members once they have taken your money!! After relocated to an area where there was no Bannatyne club, I cancelled my membership with proof of relocation. Months later I received debt collection letter on behalf of Bannatyne! Assuming this was an oversight, I tried to get this resolved with the club but received ABSOLUTELY NO HELP and was met with nothing but rudeness. The club did not care, they still have no acted on my request to resolve this issue. They completely avoid all communication and the general manager doesn’t bother to phone back. I had brief contact from a lady named Gill, who was rude, patronising and condescending!! You will find more reviews of a similar nature! Absolutely disgusting service, horrendous management - AVOID this club at all costs.

Negative experience: I telephoned this venue in order to enquire about a Spa Day for 6 guests, on day 1 I spoke with a member of staff from main reception very polite gent took my details and advised he would get someone to call me back. (They never did) Following day, I called again and spoke with a different member of reception staff who apologised and again took my contact details and advised the message would be passed to the Spa manager. Called back several hours later and spoke with the same member of staff who said she would chase up the Spa Manager to call me back and again apologised. Needless to say its now close of business on day 2 and I've heard nothing. The staff I have spoken to were polite however this isn't a great customer experience and I would be cautious if the same level of care is applied to the treatments and facilities as it is returning phone calls I'd be concerned.

Positive experience: Did a Spa experience via Wowcher and it was lovely, treatment was perfect. Only complaint is the cost of towel hire etc, would recommend you take your own. Health Club is clean and tidy, cafe menu limited but nice. All in all a very nice Saturday morning spent here

Negative experience: I didn't get an induction upon joining because all the staff were "too busy" so I felt unsafe using the equipment and disorientated in the building. Furthermore, because I didn't receive an induction I couldn't access the extras that I paid for. In the end I decided to let my membership lapse because it simply isn't worth it.

Negative experience: Value for money is 0. I’ve been to many massage places around the world (Australia, Indonesia, Europe and many places in UK) and nowhere did the treatment time - you being shown to the room, undressed and dressed all included in the 55 minutes that you provided with and paying 65£ for. As I wrote a feedback saying my treatment didn’t feel like it was 55 minutes and got an email saying - the treatment length specified includes collection from and to the waiting area, a consultation, undress/redress (where applicable) and 'hands-on' treatment time. It’s an absolute ripoff. I suggest Shrewsbury Club where for 65£ you get hands on 60 min massage and you get undressed and dressed FREE of charge or any other small business around Shrewsbury where same 60 min hands on massage and for better price.

Positive experience: We booked a two person spa day with massage at Bannatyne Shrewsbury for my sisters birthday. We went mid week (on a Wednesday). Our experience wasn't bad as the venue was clean and staff were friendly and welcoming, however it was more of a health club than spa. Even midday during the week the venue was packed - the steam room and sauna were crowded during our entire 6 hour visit. We also found that our massage was around 10 minutes shorter than agreed - as we'd only paid for one treatment each we were disappointed when they were cut short and rushed through. Our experience was fine but overall we would not come again.

Negative experience: Majorly over priced this gym is. You pay Almost £60 for a membership and I only want to use the gym and it’s tiny upstairs. My old gym was £30 cheaper and open 24/7 and has the same amount of equipment. Also normally you get a 14 days cooling off period well not here. If you apply online you get the 14 days but if you apply it in the gym you don’t get it ? Not treating everyone fairly at all. Avoid this place at all costs. Luckily im moving so they have to terminate my contract as i won’t be here

Positive experience: First of all, the spa day we had was brilliant. The facilities were plentiful and easy to access. We were shown around by a member of staff then left to enjoy the club's facilities. The top to toe treatment we had was exceptional. We were both made to be very relaxed and the back massage in particular was very good. The staff were friendly. However, I have dropped a couple of stars due to an issue which was out of my control and wasn't rectified by the Crewe or Shrewsbury club. I originally booked into Crewe back in July for the same treatment in mid August. I was emailed a few days later saying it had been cancelled due to a staff shortage and the date couldn't be changed until September. This didn't suit me as this was a gift for my partner's 30th birthday and we wanted to celebrate all weekend. Eventually when the Crewe branch got through to Shrewsbury, we were told that they can transfer me over to that spa after I asked about it. We live in Chester so quite a long drive to Shrewsbury but I decided to opt for it due to the circumstances. After we checked in at Shrewsbury we went to use the pool then grabbed se food. On the way to the treatment room (in our robes I'd like to add!) a member of staff shouted my partner over to the till. She wasn't sure if the member of staff was speaking to her and she shouted for everyone to hear "you haven't paid the full amount and still have a balance to pay" which was very embarrassing! I was quite annoyed about this as we were told that the voucher just transferred to the Shrewsbury branch but now there was an outstanding balance of £8 to pay. Rather than stand there in a dressing gown and flip flops and argue, I just paid the remaining balance. We were told by Crewe that we would be given complimentary spa bags upon arrival, this never happened. Disappointing really as we really enjoyed the day and considered going back every month or so as a nice treat day to ourselves. But after this experience I'm not sure we will?

Positive experience: It's great, I just wish the machines would work all the time, either the heart rate monitors don't work or they don't connect to the internet. Very frustrating. Also the wrist band never actually logs you in. You still have to manually log in or use your phone, maybe they need an upgrade?

Negative experience: Had a tour of the club booked for 11:30. We arrived 5 mins early and was told that the member of staff was just finishing off another tour. We waited around like lemons for 25 minutes before giving up and walking out. During that time, the other staff members in the entrance area seemed absolutely clueless. Horrendous customer service.
