Sunbury Leisure Centre

Positive experience: I have only used the gym, before and after recent refurbishment, but I think this is a good, local facility next to a school that serves young and older members well. Many write off the centre for being too small, but it packs a lot in to the space and should not be disregarded by new clients. Since the recent gym refurbishment, many key machines are lacking, notably a lat pull-down. The gym has slightly lost its friendly feel and the acoustics are terrible, with noise from treadmills drowning out my headphones and creating a stressful feel. The look is now very sparse and they've torn out the four TVs for one tucked in a ridiculous corner position! Half the gym is now devoted to free weights, with pin machines lumped randomly with the cardio. Ridiculous that there are now only three cross trainers and bikes with all the nice atmosphere torn out. The manager and staff do an incredible job and Dan is a dedicated PT with a long record of assisting GP referral clients. The centre as a whole and the gym are still better than the sister centre, The Eclipse, Staines. It keeps its friendly all-round community feel and despite the above issues, the gym is not hot and stuffy one minute, cold the next like the Eclipse and find for a fairly challenging all-round workout, despite its small size and limited equipment.

Positive experience: Small gym. Nice place to play Badminton. It's bit expensive to play Badminton here.

Fantastic experience: I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Sunbury Leisure Centre, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience largely thanks to Jude Rankin and his exceptional team. From the moment I stepped into the facility, I was struck by the welcoming atmosphere and the professionalism of the staff. Jude has truly transformed Sunbury Leisure Centre into a hub of community activity. His vision for the centre is evident in every aspect, from the wide range of programs offered to the well-maintained facilities. Whether you’re looking for fitness classes, swimming sessions, or recreational sports, there’s something for everyone. I particularly appreciated the variety of options available for all age groups and fitness levels, making it a truly inclusive environment.

Positive experience: Got there in the end….online support is very helpful and sufficient. Generally speaking it’s a lovely place.Not answering the phone it’s the one downfall.

Negative experience: Used to come here and play badminton.you would pay to book a court but there was always a group of 4 people in their late 40s who would never leave and get funny when you would politely say you booked the court they are on. Staff seemed OK but there was one who was always sarcastic and mega unhelpful. Might have changed since I've last been but it's put me off coming back.

Fantastic experience: Great gym! Great atmosphere, real community spirit among members very welcoming to new members, ideal gym to kick start your fitness journey if you find big crowded gyms a bit daunting

Negative experience: Very run down & getting shabbier. Not the cheapest in the area either. Been using this gym for about a year. Clearly hasn’t had any investment or upgrades in a long time. Entrance & door scanners only work intermittently. Meaning the doors have to be left open to the entrance hall a lot - which is kept hot from the heat from the swimming pool - which then heats the gym. The open doors means the gym can’t be air conditioned properly. There’s signs on the windows saying not to open them but it can be a proper sauna on even a slightly sunny or mild day. Makes it almost impossible to regulate body temperature if you want to push yourself. So you can’t actually work out properly here.. I used to go to Westcroft (Carshalton) Everyone Active for years and it’s so much better. The gym always staffed with a PT. The equipment is pretty much all new & if not it’s extremely well maintained. There’s far more variety (it is a larger gym but Sunbury is starkly limited even for the space). The staff are generally pleasant but I imagine they’re frustrated with nothing working properly either as when I’ve asked about aircon etc they aren’t proactive in sharing info on why they can’t offer proper ventilation/air conditioning. There are also machines that are old & not calibrated correctly. Some are missing instruction stickers which is just a lawsuit waiting to happen. I’m almost at the 1 year mark of my membership & won’t be renewing if they don’t bother fixing the problems here in a timely manner. Disappointing for a gym in an affluent area. It’s a real shame as I’ve been an EA member for 9 years on & off. I’ve sent feedback to the company directly to ask if they’ll actually be fixing the aircon issue at very least. I’ve requested a response to my inquiry so will update if they reply.

Fantastic experience: Clean Badminton court for games and parking was available free. All was good staff is friendly always love to go for badminton cheap option £8.20 per court for 1 hr

Fantastic experience: My kids love the free play in the shallow pool. It’s brilliant to get them used to water and the place is clean, warm and well maintained.

Positive experience: The gym needs to improve and more equipments brought into it. I love the swimming pool.

Positive experience: Clean court for games and parking was available free. All was good, but the vending machine didn't accept my Monzo card.

Negative experience: Been treated appallingly by the manager of Sunbury Leisure centre. Long story short - booked my daughters birthday party with them; inflatable pool party. When I booked their systems were down, everything was being written on paper. I was also offered a Black Friday deal - pay the base rate but invite up to 30 kids with no extra cost. Great! Told I didn't have to pay until the day - especially as they couldn't take pay due to the system being down. I call back after Christmas - 2 weeks before the party - booking has been given to someone else and I would have to take the next available booking without the Black Friday deal. I ask to speak to the manager; she calls me back. Says she's looked into it. No one would have offered me the Black Friday deal on the day that my enquiry is showing in the system. No one would have told me I didn't have to pay until the day. Apparently all bookings were called to take payment - I was not called. So, I'm lying about the Black Friday deal and they aren't prepared to do anything to make up for their mistake. She doesn't even consider the possibility that one of her staff didn't enter my booking into the system until a few days later. Why on earth would I want to sabotage my daughters birthday? Sunbury Leisure Centre have shown their unbelievable incompetence and that they are just not good enough. They really don't care about their customers. I understand mistakes are made. I would have happily notified all the invitees that the date has changed. But to claim I'm lying about the deal and then not honour it and ask me to pay more for the 5 extra children - yes, only 5 - is just not acceptable.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant place been going there for almost 6 months now for badminton and love it, coach David is an amazing person. Highly recommended.

Positive experience: My daughter's swimming sessions where cancelled 3 times during 7 days, due to lack of staff ?! What's the point to pay the membership when you can't benefit of it.

Fantastic experience: Bit of faffing around on the website. Have to register and pay online. So many options and timings for the swimming but eventually found what I needed. Turned up and they had my booking so all ok.

Positive experience: One of the best leisure centre in the area good friendly young staff. PS enforce people to shower before jumping in the swimming pool. I have noticed many times people just changing their clothes and going straight into the swimming pool.

Positive experience: I’ve been to the pool here. It’s very standard. The pool can be cold sometimes but is otherwise like any other pool. The changing rooms nowhere are very disgusting. I tend not to shower here and just use the pool facilities and leave immediately. It’s an affordable centre. The staff are polite and helpful. The leisure centre could definitely use an upgrade.

Fantastic experience: 2 great pools and swimming lessons for kids. Clean. Nice staff. Free parking. Separate adult swimming and you can book a lane swim - slow, med or fast. Haven’t used gym but looks decent. Need to try the climbing wall!

Negative experience: Being a member at everyone active Staines but have used Sunbury from times to time.. My mum was urgently sent to hospital and my 13yr old son was training there.. He didn’t answer his phone, so I went there, told him we had to go and see his Nana St Peter’s.. I went outside and waited for him, I was there for 15mins and we left to see her.. I didn’t know or notice that you had to sign your car in and received a fine of £100.. Another easy money maker from an unscrupulous company.. Membership is up soon, Thames club here I come..

Positive experience: We go for swimming every Sunday. Location is great, great swimming trainers. Sometimes the pool temperature is cool rather than warm. We could see little traces of algae in the tiles of the pool.

Positive experience: I take my son to swimming classes, The teacher is great but there used to be 6 kids in a class, I have seen up to 9! Plus they promote an app to show progress but it is hardly ever updated, the changing rooms have no control, showers don't always work properly

Fantastic experience: I joined adult swimming lesson about 5 months ago. It has been the best decision ever! The swimming instructors Georgia and Shanni are absolutely amazing and I cannot recommend them enough! They are very professional, patient, supportive and their knowledge is second to none! Starting from a position of being scared to go in the pool, now I look forward to learning new skills and progress every single time I attend. Definitely, never too late to learn. Thank you isn't enough I appreciate your hard work and inspiration a lot! My 6 year old daughter also attends swimming here and enjoys every minute thanks to her great teachers! Lots of love ❤ Muna

Negative experience: Gets zero stars from me and i am sure from many in similar situations. I joined the adult swimming lessons awhile ago and after changing jobs, the hours didnt suit me. I asked to cancel my membership but was told I cannot get a refund as they charge in advance so I have basically paid for two months and could only make it to one lesson. Really unfair and not happy with the service at all. Make sure you read the every bit of the terms and conditions and policy as you are bound to be ripped off when it comes to cancelling your membership.

Negative experience: I'm still waiting for my refund, paid in full on the 16th sep. The timings didn't suit my hours after work and aqua classes for my knees. My first day I was told off by a teacher I shouldn't be in the changing room and so was totally confused all because it was only children allowed.etc. gave me no confidence for a granny of 65yrs..

Negative experience: Shockingly bad service, had a pound coin stuck in the locker, reported it, waited 30 minutes, then, staff refused to fix it (no males on site) would not give me a pound coin - was told no cash on site, no apology from the manager...just bad attitude

Positive experience: It's your bog standard leisure centre under the Everyone Active banner. Swimming pool was recently renovated, it's generally brighter and nicer than others in the area. Not used any other facilities. Still has separate male/female changing areas and cubicle showers which are appreciated even if the overall cleanliness leaves something to be be desired. Limescale crusts everywhere for example. I've yet to find a Swimming pool in the UK that has European pool standards for cleanliness

Fantastic experience: Went swimming and it was great and really clean. I thought they had a refurb but it was the same as it's always been. You need to book online but it's easy and lots of different time slots on offer .. Anyway this is a nice place with friendly helpful staff.
