Rushcliffe Arena

Positive experience: I have been a member for a few years now. I’m glad they still provide sanitiser and cloths as the cleanliness of the gym is disgusting - I’m surprised people don’t get unwell. Thick dust, sweat water marks all over the machines at the start of the day when the gym has just opened. The glass is filthy with marks on, don’t think I’ve ever seen it cleaned. The gym staff are friendly but they could be doing some actual cleaning. I’ve never seen a cleaner in the gym. Surely someone should regulate this or picked up on audits as IPC should be top priority for a leisure centre.

Positive experience: Gym is good, the staff are great! Very friendly and helpful. Some new attachments, a proper hack squat machine and the mending of some broken/ripped machines would be great! We don’t need more pointless new tv’s on the wall/new flooring for the spin room

Negative experience: I have spoken with several members of staff regarding the poor cleanliness of the pool and the temperature yet nothing ever changes. It’s always so cold and while I always see people cleaning the changing areas, they’re always so filthy and smelly. Gym is sizeable but some equipment has had its day. For the cost of monthly membership, I expect much better.

Negative experience: They do not even deserve 1 star. They have got a rude manager who does not know how to speak to a customer. My son has got a birthday party on Sunday. 3 weeks ago I called and asked if a friend who will turn 4 in Oct is acceptable. They said it was not far off so it was acceptable. I happily let the mother of this child he could come. 2 days before the party, their manager told me with an incredibly rude behaviour it was not possible and I can complain wherever I want. Her sloppy shoulders behaviour is very disrespectful! This is the last time I am using this place for birthday! Imagine the position of parents having to tell their kids now they are not allowed to come to a party! If ever you plan a party, talk everything with them carefully because they tell you wrong information! This is the last time I plan a party with them!

Fantastic experience: Wow This a a great leisure centre spacious mobility scooter and wheelchair accessible in all parts of the buliding even for the second level. Wide range of leisure activities on offer with suitable facilities.

Fantastic experience: Took our grandson today and he had a lovely time. Plenty of floats to use to aid young ones learning to swim.

Positive experience: Rushcliffe Arena is a well rounded and reasonably priced leisure centre. I go to Rushcliffe Arena regularly for fitness and recreation. What do I want in a gym? How do I get the most out of my training sessions? In my opinion, I like to have room to train properly but also like a good atmosphere. Above all, there is one member of staff, I think his name is Dan, who makes Rushcliffe a great place for fitness training. He notably contributes to providing a clean, welcoming and safe space for everyone.

Positive experience: Pool was large but very cold. Individual changing cubicles and separate lockers (take a £ coin).

Positive experience: What a great facility this is- the gym is incredible and so are the classes and pool, however, I really miss the sauna and steam room- I think it’s one of the key reasons people would go next door to David loyd (other than the cost that is!) please bring it back

Fantastic experience: I love coming to this gym as it is very clean . And the staff are very friendly . I have been having personal training sessions with Jamie martin. He is an excellent trainer and a credit to the Rushcliffe arena.

Fantastic experience: We have been bringing our little girl swimming here since she was a baby. Last time we came the water was so cold that we had to leave early, shivering. Today it was much warmer, a lovely temperature. Stayed for our whole session and enjoyed the floats provided Hope this continues.

Positive experience: Great centre, only slightly marred by inconsiderate types who insist on swimming too quickly in the For All Swimming Types lanes.

Positive experience: Missing a sauna or steam room but overall great place

Positive experience: Great kids pool and two larger main pools which were excellent.. Facilities were good with plenty of parking... only downside was the floor near the toilets was filthy and the bin in one of the family charging cubicles stunk of dirty nappies and clearly hadnt been changed in a long time!!

Positive experience: Such a good gym but closes far too early on the weekends. 5pm???

Fantastic experience: Thank you to the young man working in the cafe on Saturday 7th October 2023 in the afternoon. He happily allowed my young grandson and granddaughter to help him as he carried out his duties. He was extremely patient with them and made them feel really valued. I didn't get his name but I hope he realises what a fantastic job he did, he has a great, caring personality and deserves recognition from the management.

Positive experience: I have a swim only membership and on the whole it's quite good, a few point to note tho. The water temperature has clearly been lowered (probably due to energy crisis) so it's actually pretty cold. Also if you are lane swimming on at least a few evenings a week they have adult swim class which is fine but they segregate literally half the pool and usually there are only 5 or 6 people in the class meaning everyone who has paid to do lane swimming are crammed into half a pool. They don't have any documentation either on when these sessions run (seems to change every week) and they don't answer the phone so you cant call ahead to find out

Fantastic experience: Great premises for the kaizen martial arts event, plenty of free parking.

Negative experience: No notice of booking or slots so we turned up and they told us there was no slot till 7 and we arrived on half 1 bit disappointing after it said online that its not busy at that time we arrived so a bit misleading and a waste of a journey should be a better notice.

Fantastic experience: Went swimming with grandchildren, great fun and friendly staff who

Negative experience: No time slots in swimming pool for regular working people. Mornings and evenings are full as is only a quarter of pool available to use. Weekend only one slot, and now leisure swimming cut in half

Positive experience: Good range of equipment and facilities. The only negative is your 5pm close on a Saturday.

Fantastic experience: We have recently moved to Nottingham and after a couple of visits to other sports facilities we chose Rushcliffe Arena. The personnel at the reception are super nice and helpful. This place is reasonably priced and the facilities are great for our needs. We would recommend this gym to everyone and many thanks to the people in charge!

Fantastic experience: My son started his first ever swimming lesson in February this year, he’s now moved into stage 3 and has come along so much and loves his lessons. I fully recommend Rushcliffe arena the staff are so helpful and friendly especially Steph who works on reception she’s given my son the confidence he needs and he’s now swimmer of the month.

Fantastic experience: Discovered this place properly with a free 3 day pass in August 2022. After being highly impressed by the arena, the staff and facilities we decided to join as permanent members. We take advantage of regular Lane swimming and virtual RPM and The Trip on the bikes but there is so much choice with other stuff too….! The app is incredible and makes it so easy to see what is available and when and not sure what we would do without it! Absolutely love the place and it has changed our way of living! Positive experience: Went to the Rushcliffe Arena with my little one. Booked the session around midday so it was nice and fairly empty. Depth was good but the water could be slightly warmer, though my little one didn't mind much. Also, there could be bit more family changing rooms. Otherwise, very pleasant experience.

Fantastic experience: Excellent Gym, experienced staff always happy to advise and help. I have been a member of Rushcliffe Arena for two years now and the staff are as friendly and helpful as day one. Denise has a special mention because she is an utter professional always full of energy and a smile. Denise signed my brother and me up and we are so glad she did. Johnny and Deano!

Fantastic experience: I've been a member for over a year now and have no complaints. Great range of equipment and the staff are always helpful and friendly if you engage with them. I try to avoid the busy times - especially in the evening, when I've noticed a fair number of young people whose idea of 'an hour in the gym' means sitting on the equipment and texting. But all gyms have those, and it isn't the establishment's fault. I'm not 100% convinced by the brand new hip adductor machine, as the fixed 'knee pads' push your leg above the knee in the soft bit, which is uncomfortable with a heavier weight lift, but I will get used to it (people with shorter legs won't notice). There's loads of parking available, but again be aware that evenings are busy with kids' swimming classes and finding a space can be more of an issue. It's a very good leisure centre, though. And until I joined I had no idea it was there - even though it is only a five minute drive away!

Positive experience: A lot of really good facilities and is welcoming for people who would use the gym for the first time

Negative experience: Condescending, obnoxious and argumentative. Three words I would use to describe the terrible customer service I just received from Denise behind reception. They make it almost impossible to cancel your membership, after having tried three times now, they just make you run around while still billing you. Even though I have given over a months notice and they still haven’t cancelled it, Denise threatened that if I cancel my direct debit and stop paying that they will keep on chasing me, will keep sending letters and I’ll always be indebted to them. Disgusting and unhelpful bullying tactics for the sake of £30. Denise then continued an aggressive arguments over what was a matter of my opinion. My son got out of the children’s pool today, which is meant to be warmed and he was shivering. Denise confirmed that it was only 29.5° and was so dismissive and unhelpful that I would never consider this to Gym again simply because of her rude incompetence, let alone the sub standard pool. If you’re going to save money, maybe consider not reducing the temperature of your baby swimming pool. And if you’re going to increase revenue, I would strongly suggest putting Denise back through customer service training. She needs it!

Positive experience: It's what it is. Nothing to write home about. The receptionist was kind and helpful but can't say the same about other staff.

Fantastic experience: I joined this gym after recently moving to Nottingham. After visiting multiple gyms in the area, this was by far my favourite! I was immediately greeted by a helpful, informative and friendly sales member, Alice. Her positivity and knowledge made me feel really comfortable and excited about joining! I was also impressed by the range of equipment in the gym as well as the smaller additional studio space. During my time as a member I have enjoyed various classes which I can conveniently book through the app. I look forward to experiencing different classes in the future! Overall, I cannot fault Rushcliffe arena.

Positive experience: Really impressed with the equipment available here. Usually I find leisure centre gyms lack weight training equipment but this has everything I need. The classes are also brilliant. The only thing that really annoys me is that everyone leaves their weights on the bars and machines. This is really dangerous and they need to properly enforce removing them after use.

Fantastic experience: Discovered a hidden fitness gem in virtual bodybalance on a Saturday and Sunday afternoons at Rushcliffe Arena. Don’t be fooled by the reference to yoga or Pilates, this is a tough (tough!) workout that builds strength and toughens your core.

Fantastic experience: The arena have a variety of high quality gym classes spread out throughout the week. The gym is very spacious with good facilities available. Alice the receptionist is always very welcoming and friendly, she is approachable to answer any questions.

Fantastic experience: Great place to workout with plenty of machines in the gym. The staff are lovely especially Denise at reception who me and my mates have got to know over the last few months. Overall, top quality place with everything you need to keep fit.

Fantastic experience: Good quality facilities with lots of things to do. Denise on the reception is a lovely lady, always got a smile on her face and always down for a chinwag. She was very welcoming to both myself and my mates and showed us around when we first started. Would recommend :)

Fantastic experience: Brilliant gym with a wide range of facilities. A recently revamped app provides a much improved booking experience. Special mention to Denise on reception for her warm welcome upon arrival and her assistance with membership and swimming lesson matters. Shout out to Sharon too, she is a fantastic instructor who always gets the best out of you on Spin/Pump/HIIT, even if it does hurt the next day….

Fantastic experience: Great facilities - took our little one to the swimming lessons, he really enjoyed it and great to meet other toddler his age. 30 min lessons every week and they make it very engaging by offering badges for the children to reach. Alot of good facilities in the arena- gym table tennis snooker squash badminton and much more!

Fantastic experience: Joined about a month ago after not going to gym for a year and was blown away but the amount of equipment that was on offer, even though it is always busy you never have to wait to get on a piece of machinery. The staff are amazing and always in attendance but not bothering you. The opening times are great and I've started going at 6am and it definitely gives you a kick-start to your day.

Fantastic experience: Went here to sort out Blue badge and they gave me a number so I thanked staff

Negative experience: Swimming lessons are horrible ! There is no individual attention with group sizes of 12 and above . My kid has been in the same stage for last 2 years and lack basic swimming skills. The instructors have changed multiple times and they just stand outside the pool to give instructions. Really disappointed with the whole experience.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic facility - super friendly staff, & great value for money. Recent additions to the exercise schedule have given an added boost to the already extensive variety of workout options.

Positive experience: Good facilities, however the fact you need to book in swimming sessions is a bit of a hassle and the times don’t allow me to swim on Mondays

Fantastic experience: I took part in a BTT class today it was a great class. I am just visiting for a couple of weeks so cannot join on a membership but it is still great value for money. It’s a lovely centre and the staff are so kind and helpful. If I lived here I would definitely join.

She has been kind, professional and always keen to hear how you're getting on. Lovely gym and facilities. Also would recommend the spin classes (especially with Gil!) and squash!

Fantastic experience: Great facilities - lots of top spec equipment. Decent number of Wattbike's available. Staff extremely helpful, welcoming and friendly. All in all excellent value for money compared to the local competition.

Negative experience: why close the steam room that was the best bit. Was closed due to 'covid' for a whole year whilst other steam rooms in the city and clubs were open. LAZY

Negative experience: Not very friendly staff. Paid for an hour session was late due to rush hour traffic. Not understanding at all. Got thrown out after 35minutes despite the circumstances, the empty gym and the fact I paid £7.60 for a single hour session. Not acceptable. Don’t come here if you’re not a Tory. Entitled Tory gym.

Positive experience: Good gym but closes at 5pm on weekends

Negative experience: The children's swimming lessons are terrible. The instructors just look like they don't want to be there and just tell the kids to go back and forth without teaching them how. I was literally having to try and teach my daughters through the window because the instructor wasn't doing anything. We've cancelled and move them somewhere else

Negative experience: Pool freezing changing area even colder 1st time visit deffo won't return in a hurry

Positive experience: It's a fabulous council commissioned leisure facility. The pool is good, gym is amazing and for some reason it has an amazing indoor bowling green (nobody knows why, if you did want to go bowling you would surely go to the Poppy and Pint in Ladybay). 1 star removed as the pool is badly managed eg the kids pool is available to families for c12 hours a week.

Positive experience: A very municipal places. Despite being nearly new, it feels a bit tired. How did the council manage it? But it does have good facilities.

Fantastic experience: Its a nice facility, though lot of times ppl abuse the memberships by overbooking and not showing up the courts. There must be a way or process in place so that courts are actually used when booked, or left available for others to play. update: attendances have improved though very hard to find a badminton court in non working /peak hours

Fantastic experience: Very clean and tidy. Awesome for the little ones as the kids pool has this big play area beside it with tipping buckets of water and shoots of water coming up from the ground! Only thing that let down our last visit to the place is that we waited 30 minutes for a sandwich from the cafe!!! Fortunately we were not in a rush and the staff were very apologetic and we ended up getting our money refunded.

Positive experience: I've only used the pool and cafe here. I take my baby on a regular basis and the facilities work well for that. They have a few family changing rooms that include baby changing tables. Service at the café is a bit slow and the queueing situation is unclear meaning that I have had people cut in front of me on multiple occasions.

Positive experience: The swim pool is nice, changing rooms a bit chaotic during after school swimming sessions. The reception is always helpful.

Positive experience: I go 2-3 times a week, decent gym people are friendly, people of all ages train here from 16 to 60 years old. Very good range of equipment, all clean and modern. The place is always today. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

Positive experience: Fantastic family swimming pool. Pool a bit cold and changing rooms could be enhanced with wall seats for infants for parental ease. But other than that, i can't fault the place!

Positive experience: The good: Great selection of equipment, although the cable machines could do with new cables! Loads of squat racks and places to bench, ample benches (I've never had to wait for one) Fellow members are friendly and will chat if you fancy a chat, never had a problem finding a spotter and very few ego lifters in there. Price is fair, £60 odd for a couples membership that includes swimming too! Only really busy between 6-8, fine in the morning before work, dead all day and dead after 8 which isn't the worst gym I've been to! Most city gyms are packed between 4-10pm and a bit of a chore. Trainers are knowledgeable and friendly, although they never put their equipment away... So far so good... why the 3 star review?! The bad: This would be a 5 star review if the air con worked. Some council meeting full of overweight middle management who have never used a gym decided it would be a great idea for the gym to overlook the pool and have nice big windows so you can see in. This creates an unbearable greenhouse effect for the whole gym with warm, moist air seeping in through the windows making the gym space a humid, sweaty nightmare. When the people who work in the gym and aren't moving at all are wearing shorts and Tshirt then you know the gym is too warm. The air con is beyond a joke and is only switched on for peak times presumably so no one keels over from heat stroke. The rare occasion you see anyone lifting a heavy weight in here they are a sweaty mess and red faced. The ugly: Equipment, floors etc are filthy. There's only 2 members of staff who you ever seen cleaning. The rest stand around chatting. There's genuinely clumps of fluff around lifting platforms that have been there longer than I've been attending. Starting to wonder if they pay a monthly fee. There's plasters that have been on the floor so long they have their own locker in the staff room. Little to no eye candy, one of the worst gyms for it. Maybe that's why David Lloyds charge so much?

Negative experience: Shocking reception experience today by a miserable lady I believe called Julie. Got there at 15:10 fully understanding pool closed at 16:00. All she did was keep looking at her watch and advising pool is full (hardly anyone swimming). Finally after long silences and more watch checking we were advised small pool is shut and only big pool open. So ok I just took my son as never been there before and left my baby girl with my partner. Once in around 15:20 there was a baby area even when the small pool is shut. So my partner asked for another ticket for my 14mth little girl and she refused by saying its now shut and pool now closes at 15:45. As I was already in the pool I didnt hear this and was in there till 4pm. Seriously for a miserable old lady to refuse a 14mth old entry into a pool even for 30mins is disgusting when we are willing to pay and allow her to join in. Very very disappointed and a leisure centre I will not visit again.
