Positive experience: The slide and waves are fun, but the changing facilities can do with an upgrade. It's also a shame that they only put the slide on for 10 minutes of you session, with lots of people, it means only only get 2 goes.

Negative experience: Very dated. Water was freezing. The name water ‘world’ is a stretch seeing as there is only one water slide and small children (ie non-swimmers) can’t use it. Would’ve been 1 star but the soft play in the cafe was okay, if a little expensive. Won’t be rushing back.

Negative experience: I use the gym and a few of the machines don't work properly and are not proactively maintained. There whole place could do with some TLC. I've heard recently that the cardio section off the gym is being relocated to where the weights currently are and vice versa and there is going to be a reduction of equipment available (only 5 treadmills for example), which isn't going to be ideal, far from it. The only redeeming features for me is some staff are really nice and friendly (especially reception) and it is close to home for me.

Negative experience: Run down, old swimming pool, dirty changing rooms with discarded nappies and a massive spider decided to make an appearance!! Only an hour of swimming and expensive soft play. Will definitely not be returning.

Positive experience: Plenty of parking on site. Water temp bit cold for me. Changing rooms/toilets could do with updating. Kids loved waves, waterslide & jacuzzi. Will be back.

Positive experience: This water world was being enjoying both by young and old one little old dear was overcome by the waves in the pool hand had to crawl out it was too strong for her But everyone enjoyed it plus the cafe delivers nice snacks and hot food... They play area where our grandson was died not really cater for older kids 5 to 10 year olds they need more than just a slide that is the only down fall in this play area nothing for over 5 years old ... Believe me we visit lots of different ones every week.. But he loves the pool ..

Negative experience: Foot aint very good. New menu is poor. Portion size more for children 7_8.

Fantastic experience: 1st time going and we loved it. The waves and floats were great. We didn't go on the slide but the kids that went on seemed to enjoy it. The small jacuzzi was lovely and warm too. Will definitely return.

Negative experience: Disgusting customer service, turn up with 4 kids 15min before our time to GET IN THE POOL to get turned away and told to come back 5 minutes before our time. I advise ive 4 kids to get ready and that wont he sufficient time to get them ready and the reply “well im sure if your quick enough” absolutely disgusting.

Fantastic experience: Great pool that I didn't realise was so close. Has a wave machine and a great slide for adults and kids. Nice and quiet for the time of day (mid Sunday morning) and plenty of floats and balls to play with for kids. We'll worth a visit.....but need to book in advance.

Fantastic experience: Nice pool. Starts off shallow and slowly gets deeper. Plenty of room for all. You book by 1hour slots with limited number of people so it's not over crowded. Wave machine is turned on a few times during your hour and is great fun. Will definitely be back with the kids again. Worth the extra travel from Durham.

Positive experience: I have a membership here as it provides a great range of exercise classes for me. Studios and gym facilities are pretty modern - pool possibly needs an upgrade but appreciate it would be a monster task (and costly) ...

Fantastic experience: Our kids really enjoyed the wave machine and water slide. An hour well spent.

Positive experience: I was a bit disappointed as the flume ride is only in use for 10 minutes of a 1 hour slot. The wave machine is on every 20 minutes and inflatable in between intervals. Lockers are a pound non refundable. The depth of the pool starts off shallow to the depth of 1.7 metres the depth of the flume pool was around waist height and had to climb out using a ladder

Fantastic experience: An hours swimming session with my two yoing children, 2 and 5. The 5 year old loves the waves. Can often be quite cold in the water here but recently hasnt been too bad. Great value for money.

Positive experience: Couldn't book online, arrived after an hour journey and couldn't get in cause fully booked.

Negative experience: water was insanely cold. it was like being in antartica. Don’t know who they think they were fooling with the water temperature because it was basically in the minuses. When i got out, i might as well have gotten hypothermia. Not to mention the showers were abominably hot. It felt like heat therapy and i nearly went into shock from the sudden change of temperature. will never recover.

Positive experience: Lovely pool, not huge but some nice features like great slide, wave machine and small jacuzzi. Changing area could be better planned but £1 locker fee is refundable.

Negative experience: Canny place but absolutely filthy needs a proper upscale

Negative experience: My daughter did 2 swimming classes here. The first one was with an instructor who was lovely and very patient with my daughter who was very anxious at the time. The second week she had a different instructor and he was very harsh with her, resulting in her crying most of the lesson. At times I saw he was at the other side of pool with the other learners whilst she was on her own at the other end of the pool, with out any floatation aids. She had just turned 4! I had to step in and pull her out of the water prior to the lesson ending as I didn't feel comfortable watching his teaching style or my daughter crying in the water on her own. I'll never set foot back in the place! Compared to other pools it's very easy to book on swimming lessons here and, now I see why. I had thought before the place lacks cleanliness after trying swimming there before when I was a member of the gym. However, I'd struggled to find space at every other leisure centre for her. Most I was on a waiting list for. So, I thought I would try the lessons here out of desperation really. I wish I hadn't bothered as now she's scared to go swimming anywhere...

Fantastic experience: Staff were so helpful in reception. Also the cafe service was very friendly and in the pool my nephews snorkel got picked up by somebody and the staff hunted high and low to get it back for him. Thanks everyone for the great day. (we had left the snorkel to one side after realize they're not allowed in the pool for normal swim times, so don't bring a snorkel or mask if planning on swimming here) make sure to book as pool gets full

Negative experience: Cannot comment on the gym or cafe as we only used the pool. The place was filthy. There were foam floaters for you to use, but why would I want my child to use a mouldy floater to me them unwell. The changing area was dirty, the pool was slimy under your feet, and the puzzles by the pool needed a good clean they're filthy too. We didn't stay for long as I felt dirty and couldn't wait to go home for a shower to feel clean again. It's a shame there is a lot of potential, but the place is very neglected. I won't return.

Positive experience: We excitedly entered the pool to crashing waves that did not disappoint. Once they had finished the toys were back in the pool, great fun - single and double hoops to ride on and good quality football size balls to play with. The lifeguards instruct swimmers to clear the toys ready for the waves again and this pattern is repeated during the session. The slide has a slot too. With enough time to ride multiple times, queues that aren't too long and good safety instructions for slide riders the slide can be enjoyed. The session is 60minutes. This is understandable especially in peak times such as holidays, but my children and I could have easily stayed for double that. Overall, family fun and good value for money. Will definitely visit again.

Positive experience: Bathroom was crawling with ants, bees and spiders, looked like it hadnt been cleaned in years. Couple of loose tiles in pool, several cuts to legs.. Changing area in pool needs a update, most lockers are missing straps on keys and changing room don't lock

Fantastic experience: Great fun for all the family at a reasonable price. The kids loved the wave pool and all the floats when it’s the turn for them to go into the pool. There’s a bit of a Jacuzzi with a brilliant waterfall that the kids particularly enjoy. Softplay is also excellent to go into after swimming and not a bad additional cost.

Positive experience: I like this pool and gym! They do have that one grumpy member of staff who's been there for years, the older woman teacher-type. Who's not too nice behind the tills. Employee of the year 89'. Coincidentally, all the bad reviews mention her But the majority are very nice and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Great for swimming lessons, staff are fantastic, kids love the wave machine and slide. Could do with a few repairs, I.e. the half the showers don't work and really not enough for the amount of people who use the pool.

Positive experience: Pool is quite cold. Fine for actual swimming but my kids were freezing. It does have a good little Cafe and soft play though.

Fantastic experience: Jean the receptionist here is the true Angel of the North. Looked after me and my son George who has Down Syndrome. We left his hat there. Jean kindly called us to let us know the next day. Staff like Jean makes a great centre perfect xxx

Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant IMO. Perfect for kids, fair priced, not too crowded, there are plenty of guards so you can feel safe. There are some water toys, the depth is ok, not too deep but still ok to have fun. Stuff is friendly. We also went for softplay and it was only us although it is Sunday (maybe becauseit is sunny day) . Ice-cream are yummy and not overpriced. Recommended for families :)

Positive experience: I like the booking system so it's not overcrowded, the waves and the slide are great but it is quite dirty, we also visited the softplay, and the floor is disgusting ( the tables weren't cleaned between people) and parts of the frame are ripped and stuffing is coming out. The food from the cafe is nice but is overpriced in my opinion, the staff are friendly and helpful and the park outside is canny too, overall we do enjoy this place and you can spend most of the day with the different activities.

Positive experience: The pool always seems a little bit cold, so does outside the pool, if you get in the jacuzzi and get back out... Game over. The kids love the slide and the waves. More showers wouldn't go a miss. Especially now everyone gets out at the same time.

Positive experience: Need shower cubicles, and only 2 hairdryers of which only 1 was working! Pool was a tad cold for my liking but kids loved it

Negative experience: Swimming facilities are standard. The lady on the front desk was like a hard faced school head teacher. Didn't appreciate her attitude or demeanor.

Positive experience: We love coming here.Pity the waterslide was broken the other day.Must say we never used to pay by the hour before Covid then after Covid they introduced this hourly pricing and kept it like that.

Positive experience: It is still one of the best leisure pools in Northumberland, but it is in need of some TLC.

Positive experience: Slide broken, changing rooms filthy and staff weren't Accepting of invisible disabilities. I may look fine but, as stated I'm not and needed more time to change. I caught a member of staff sniggering when my friend asked if we could enter changing area five minutes earlier which is standard at some other pools in this branch.

Fantastic experience: Great place to go. Very clean & friendly staff. Both myself & my 2 kids loved it. Plenty of live guards on duty so felt really safe. Changing rooms where all clean & tidy. Fun time for all the family

Positive experience: Very dated and water was absolutely freezing. Couldn't stay too long with my little one as he was going blue. There are some good items on the side for little ones to play with and spin, they also did have some water toys out when we went which was mostly for smaller children. Easy access to the water for smaller children with the beach style set up so no stairs and a little hot tub style jacuzzi for adults if they wish. For older kids there is a slide and I waves. Soft play looked good however we didn't use this as does the cafe.

Positive experience: Swimming teacher is lovely and cafe does nice food. The changing rooms aren't the cleanest but are adequate. The pool is usually a bit cold though, not great for our young son's swimming lesson, he's usually shivering by the end of his 30 minute lesson.

Fantastic experience: We didn't go into the Waterworld but we took the grandchildren to the park outside. A good park which they both enjoyed.

Positive experience: The pool and gym facilities are good but the toilets were in need of a clean.

Negative experience: Would not waste your time still got to book to go in nothing was mentioned when I rang to ask what time there stayed open till got to the reception and got turned away and the attitude was really bad when stood there with my 6 year old daughter

Positive experience: My eldest thought it was a bit small but the numbers inside are limited so it never really felt over busy. Words of my youngest, fantastic, I really enjoyed the slide and waves, 5 stars!

Positive experience: Nice family leisure centre/swimming pool, in decent condition with a good slide. Staff music choice ranged from grunge and 90s alt classics one weekend to what seemed to be an hour long hard house Vengabus remix the next. I have added an additional star to reflect this.

Positive experience: Nice pool, there's only one slide and it's not open all the time but the wave machine was popular. Not the place to come if you're looking to swim lengths, but good for littler children.

Positive experience: Nice place, with alot of activities, slide, wave pool and jacuzzi. Only negative is the time. Kids only had one go on the slide before it was cordoned off for the wave pool and when it came back on, out band colour was called to leave.

Negative experience: It's not so much a waterworld more like world war 3. The poolside is outdated and the water was cold, a leisure pool should be 30 to 31 degrees for kids, the changing rooms have no benches to sit on whilst slanging, the changing room floor was dirty, debris ie hair and dirt was present, staff on an no-one cleaning. Staff on poolside were chatting to each other not really looking at the pool and were not carrying water aids and the lad in the chair was slouching, no so ready for action if the need arises. The friendliest staff were in the cafe. We were 15mins late due to heavy traffic, the lady on the front desk wouldn't transfer us to the next session to get value for money so only got 40 mins instead if 60. We won't be going back.

Positive experience: It used to be great, but it's starting to look a bit old and tired. It's still alright for little ones due to the shallow beach area. But not a lot to keep teens entertained

Fantastic experience: Took three kids, all under 11. February '22, had to pre book. Kids loved the slides, and waves. I stayed in the cafe and drank reasonably priced coffee and checked occasionally to make sure one hadn't disappeared. An enjoyable, and quite, hour. Staff on reception were friendly and helpful.

Positive experience: Went here as a child. Had some really good times. Going back with my son is a bit of a letdown as everything is a lot smaller. He had a good time.

Fantastic experience: Our main experience of this pool is through weekly swimming lessons, though we have also occasionally done the leisure sessions where they have waves and inflatables out on a timed schedule. It's a pleasant pool with change rooms that are generally clean. Most of the change rooms are a bit small for my preference, and don't have decent hooks for one's clothes, but there are larger ones if you go looking. The lessons seem to be pretty good and fairly well organised. They manage a number of groups in the pool at any given time, and both my children have reached a good level of competency under the guidance of their Active Northumberland teachers. We've not eaten at the café but there are a variety of options including children's meals and even ice cream cones.

Positive experience: Good fun with my Son today. Water temp a bit low but apart from that good Fun. Slide only opened 10 mins before we had to leave due to Band colour so a little disappointing given that was one of the reasons for booking there. Will def try again .

Fantastic experience: If you have EVER been spinning you need to come here to Carole's class, I guarantee it will be better than any class you have ever been to before, she will WORK you hard Saturday's and Sunday mornings.
